Like everywhere in town all the employees were extremely friendly. Walked in and the smell of BBQ wafted into our nostrils. Was a lot of people waiting on a Friday night but was only about 20 minutes to be seated. I noticed after they take reservations on Open Table. Pretty much everybody at the table got the burnt ends and sausage combo. I got bbq beans and steamed veggies for my sides. Didn't notice the grilled veggie choice until I saw my wife's. Get the grilled veggies. They're grilled over wood and soak up the flavor. My steamed veggies were sad in comparison. The beef brisket burnt ends were awesome and had a delicious seasoning bark. My wife's pork burnt ends were equally good. The sausage was ok but looked like a giant summer sausage. Odd texture vs what I am used to so wasn't my favorite. We also shared fried mushrooms which were some of the best I've had. If you're craving BBQ when in Blue Springs, MO this is your place!

Smokehouse is a solid mid-tier local BBQ operation with three locations - with it's "upscale" atmosphere and a menu that offers lots more than BBQ; I think of Smokehouse as a hybrid between Smokestack and 54th St. Grill. It has the type of ambiance that Smokestack has, yet has not quite achieved their level of quality. A diverse menu of not just BBQ standards but steak, seafood, salads and appetizers like a 54th St or a similar type chain but miles ahead in ambiance, BBQ offerings and quality. Smokehouse would be the type of place for a compromise dinner when some want BBQ and others don't. Not the best BBQ in town... but no shame in their game. Speaking of compromise; I actually drove to Independence to check out a new BBQ joint up the street but they were closed so I headed here and I have no regrets. My Burnt Ends beef and sausage platter came with fries and slaw, bread, pickles and a cup of spicy bbq sauce and ranch for fry dipping. Smokehouses' sausage, beans and slaw are in my top tier for local offerings, and the beans and slaw are available at a retail level. My only issue last night was some of the burnt end chunks were a bit tough - these were not the "melt in your mouth" morsels that elevate other places in this BBQ Capital to the top tier. For pumping out mass quantities at multiple locations with a nice atmosphere, fair pricing, and good service Smokehouse is deserving of support and longevity - I wish I could give 5 stars but that would not be fair to that elite team of BBQ joints that has made this city famous.

Visiting from Denver. When in KC you gotta have BBQ right? This was the closest to our hotel. It has decent reviews so a 3 here is a 5 in Denver right? Nope! Haha. Good service and the inside with all the stained glass was cool. I got the baby rack special with pulled pork beans and slaw. . Buddy got burnt ends. Slaw was the way I like it. Beans were ok their sauces were good but the meat (most important) lacking a little. Burnt ends some were great some were inedible. My ribs tasted old if that's possible and the pulled pork was meh. 3.2 stars here.

First time trying this restaurant on a Friday night. We were craving some BBQ. We arrived here and got seated right away at a booth toward the front. It's a cozy place with lots of Tiffany glass deco. Main dining area has a fireplace with a large Tiffany glass ceiling dome. The menu had quite a few selections. I opted for their burned end, brisket with baked beans and fries. Once our orders was placed, it didn't take them long at all for our food to come out. I totally forgot to take photos for this review and started eating right away. This was probably the fastest service I ever had anywhere at restaurant. Our waiter was attentive. Staffs were friendly and overall service was great. Their beans was cooked just the way I like it. The burned ends could be a little more tender. Brisket tasted great. BBQ sauce was not bad. I asked for spicy BBQ sauce which to me was mild and not spicy at all. I would come back again when in the area.

Hubby and son stopped at this great barbecue place on a trip to Kansas City! Besides having a beautiful interior, the food was amazing! The bar area looked great, but they sat in the regular dining room. The waitress was friendly and efficient. Hubby had brisket burnt ends and chicken, which came with one side. He had some delicious barbecue baked beans. The chicken was tender and flavorful, and the ends were meaty. Son had pulled pork with a side of fries. He said it was flavorful as well. He took part of his sandwich home to have for supper. He was disappointed that they didn't have any mashed potatoes and gravy! The prices were very reasonable. If you're looking for barbecue and want a quick meal, this is your spot!

Incredible burnt ends. A few of them were tough but the vast majority were meat marshmallows as they should be

My husband and I took our grandson for lunch on a Friday afternoon. Our waitress was the only thing good about the whole experience. We all had brisket burnt ends that was barely meh, the frys were over cooked and cold almost like frozen done in an airfryer. I had a salad and the lettuce was literally brown/rotten. To top it all off the coke was flat.

A beautiful restaurant. You have to try the Crispy. A Chopped burnt end sandwich on a sesame seed bun. Served with hickory pit beans and French fries. It is incredible good ! Very Highly Recommended !

Food is good. They don't put as much on sandwiches as other places. Our waitress was great! She kept up with our party the whole evening. They have a party room which was nice. I'll return.

Met with a big group of family and friends at Smokehouse BBQ and spent time catching up over some good barbecue. Marci took care of our entire table one-handed and with ease and was very helpful on menu selections, getting our food out while it was hot, and making sure we were having a good time. I had the two meat platter of turkey and brisket along with baked beans and potato salad. It was all delicious and with generous portions that I had to walk out the door with a take out box. Marci offered us dessert but I just couldn't do it! But the desserts looked delicious including the carrot cake and of course they have them on display right as you come in to get seated. So, I'll have to try it out next time. Overall, nice experience for sure.

Joe's Kansas City Bar-B-Que -- The Rocket Pig Was Worth the Trip!…read more My oh my, Joe's lived up to the hype! This place was your typical BBQ stop, classic interior, simple and the smells whoa! After settling into our Airbnb, my wife and I needed dinner. We arrived around 8:15 PM and there were STILL 15-20 people ahead of us. At that hour, seeing a line told me we were probably in the right place. I planned to keep things simple: Just get a pulled pork sandwich. Then I saw the Rocket Pig. Pulled pork, BBQ glaze, bacon, pepper jack cheese, BBQ mayo and fried jalapeños. I at least showed some restraint and ordered the regular instead of the jumbo. Rocket Pig -- 10/10! This thing was outstanding. Smoky, cheesy, a little spicy, messy and loaded with flavor. My taste buds were tingling! While standing in line, we struck up a conversation with two guys from Chicago who told us people come to Joe's for the meat and the sides generally take a back seat. Since I'm definitely a "side guy," I had to find out for myself. The BBQ beans were a disappointment -- 4/10 for me. They simply didn't match the quality of everything else. My wife went with the regular pulled pork sandwich and, after getting a recommendation from one of the employees, ordered the cornbread. Winner! 10/10. Then came the banana pudding. We were told, "Don't pass on it." Melissa, who took our order, said there were only three left. DONE. Give us one! Banana pudding -- 10/10. It may honestly be some of the best banana pudding I've ever tasted. Creamy, rich and topped with crushed Heath Bar. I seriously considered getting back in line and buying the other two for later. In hindsight, I probably should have! We were also told that during the World Cup the line stretched outside and wrapped around the building, with people waiting more than two hours. After eating here, I understand why. Fortunately, our wait was only about 20 minutes, and it was absolutely worth it. Would I return? Without hesitation. But this is Kansas City, and there are still more BBQ joints I need to try! If you're visiting KC, Joe's belongs on your list. And if you like a loaded BBQ sandwich, GET THE ROCKET PIG! Food: Rocket Pig: 10/10 Cornbread: 10/10 Banana Pudding: 10/10 BBQ Beans: 4/10 Overall:

I have heard this place normally has a long line so try and go on off times. I ordered the Burnt End Dinner for $25.99 and it comes with two sides. I chose the baked beans and the street corn based on recommendation. The Burnt End Dinner isn't always available so if you see it order it. Trust me. This is my first time here and I was super excited. I read all the reviews and I knew exactly what I was going to order. When I got the burnt ends they looked heavenly. They were so incredibly tender yet still had texture. The fat had completely melted throughout the meat and kept everything moist. The seasoning was on point. Not too much but still added this great smoke and depth of flavor. Absolutely phenomenal. As for the baked beans, 100% recommend. They had chunks of meat in them and were both sweet and had a nice kick. So good. As for the street corn it was nice and salty, creamy, and sweet. The corn still had texture and was addictive. The whole meal came with three slices of bread and a couple of pickles to cleanse the palate. They also provided their hot barbecue sauce and their original. Both were amazing but the spicy is chef's kiss. So good!

The casual, counter-service setup has a true neighborhood BBQ joint feel, and it's easy to see why both locals and visitors recommend it. The restaurant is especially known for its ribs and burnt ends, and it's common for popular items to sell out later in the day, so arriving early is a smart idea. The barbecue was outstanding. The meat was tender, smoky, and packed with flavor, with the perfect balance of bark and juiciness. Every bite tasted like it had spent hours in the smoker, and the house barbecue sauce complemented the meat without masking its natural flavor. Portions were generous, making it an excellent value for the quality you receive. The sides were just as enjoyable and rounded out the meal nicely. Everything was served hot and fresh, and the fast-moving counter service kept the line moving efficiently even when the restaurant was busy. For a brief moment, I thought I heard music. There was a DJ, actually. But that's not how I remember it. I remember the bus. Yellow and black, impossible not to notice. Anime artwork stretched across the side. Go Chew Burger. At the window, someone was waiting who was every bit as inviting as the aroma coming out of that heavenly little bus. I started looking over the menu, and there, winking at me, was the GOCHEW Burger. They mentioned the double patty. I hesitated. "We won't tell anybody." Two patties it was. They also talked me through the kimchi: fresh or charred. They gave me enough information to make me feel like I was making all the decisions. Double patty. Charred kimchi. Loaded fries. I was all in. While I waited, I did what anyone with an infatuation does: research. I learned about Joohae "Chewy" Yoon and what she's trying to do with GOCHEW--take Korean flavors and put them into foods people already know. Burgers. Fries. Familiar food carrying something new. Then the buzzer went off. Time for our first date. No chairs. No tables. Things were getting a little awkward, so we went back to the car. The fries had lost their crispness to the sauces and steam, but I didn't care. The Korean BBQ sauce was sweet and savory, the gochujang brought mild heat, the creamy lime sauce cut through it all, and the bright green chives pulled everything together. Incredible. But the burger? Perfectly crisped edges. Juicy, hot beef. Melted cheese. Charred kimchi bringing sweetness and acidity. Three sauces that somehow never fought for attention. And the bun had a serious responsibility. Two patties. Cheese. Kimchi. Three sauces. Everything depended on it. Spider-Man protects New York and everyone who depends on him. This bun had the same problem. With great power comes great responsibility. And it held. Mostly. The attraction was still there. The infatuation was still there. But they had become something else entirely. Love. This wasn't just a good burger. This is the best smash burger I've had in Kansas City.
