Needed a Rheem water heater fixed. The owner, Ralph. told me to contact Rheem and they would send me the parts under warranty. When parts came in, I contacted A Plus again and they sent a plumber out. He arrived during the scheduled time and installed the parts from Rheem. I had contacted another plumbing company that wanted to charge between 2 and 3 times what A plus Plumbing charged. Prices were extremely good and everyone was friendly and professional. read more

I can't not share this experience. Feel free to look at my other Yelp reviews as I am typically a very positive reviewer. But if this helps save someone 10K then it's worth taking the time to write this. 5 years ago we used this company for a whole house re-pipe. That was how it was sold to us. 11K for the whole house, excluding the main line to street. Again, that was how it was presented to us. "You will never have another leak." Since then we have had TWO. Turns out, they did NOT re-pipe the whole house. This last pipe that leaked, the plumber who fixed it was shocked that this had not been replaced. Said there was no reason this would not have been replaced as well. We contacted Ralph who came over to inspect. He said the receipt says "all lines out of slab" meaning....not all lines. Well, we are both in the medical field, so to a lay person who is TOLD that the whole house is being done, we assumed the whole house was being done. We NEVER would have done half the house. WHY on earth would we have done that?! We had just had a big leak and we live in Laguna Hills which has very hard water. We wanted the whole house done!!! That's what we told them!! We have since gotten a few more quotes. One guy said the work that A Plus did is not even to code! They can do our whole house for less than what we paid A Plus. And it's guaranteed for life, including future owners of the home. So because of that, they have to re do EVERYthing. Since they can't guarantee A Plus's half-way done, not-to-code work. :-( So we have to pay about another 10K to have the whole house redone. They actually include all of the dry wall repair too. But that doesn't include all of the repainting that will have to be done....AGAIN. And the huge mess. And the loss of another 10K. My husband has sent emails and Ralph is not willing to respond at this point. Beware of this company. read more

We were told A Plus would come out after contacting our Home Warranty company for a water leak. A Plus said Joe would come out, in which he had over 20 years experience in the field. Both experiences with dispatch, and with Joe were great,. Joe was very knowledgable and provided with high confidence, why there was a leak based on that experience (no digital or high tech leak detection, only the good 'ol water meter test). Although he could not rectify the issue because it was not covered under our specific warranty, he gave us some great ideas for a solution of our own. Although you think he could have quoted us a price to do the work himself, he left it up to us in the end. If there was an issue/ Warranty work that could have been solved by A Plus, Joe left us with the confidence that they would have done it. read more

So, I've cross-posted my original review at their other one: A Plus Plumbing and Rooter Mission Viejo. --------------------- UPDATE 9/2012 (2nd experience): Had a potential slab leak at my place, and the insurance company, despite my request, dispatched A-Plus Plumbing & Rooter again. Here's how the experience went. 1. Plumber showed up without the slab leak detection device. Had to schedule for another appointment for the following week. 2. Plumber didn't show up. Had to schedule for another appointment for the following week. 3. Plumber didn't show up within the 4-hour window despite owner telling me 2 hours in that the plumber was on his way . I left 30 mins past when they were supposed to show up. I had to go to work too! Upon returning home that evening, I saw a business card on my door. Insurance told me that the plumber "came on time" and that I "was not at home". Had to schedule for another appointment for the following week. 4. Plumber didn't show up with leak detection device AGAIN. He said that another plumber at his company took it last minute. Had to schedule for another appointment for the following week. 5. Plumber didn't show. I finally DEMANDED the insurance company to dispatch another company. TWO different service calls, both times EXTREMELY negative experiences. Ironically, their business card says, "25 Years Experience. Satisfaction Guaranteed. State License #736768" Thanks for wasting 5 days' worth of my time away from work. A JOKER who shows up at my door and tells me he needs to rip open walls in order to fix the issue claiming he will get back to me after he speaks with the insurance company. A few days pass when I receive a call from the insurance company asking if I am satisfied with the services provided. The poor girl on the other end was shocked that their contractor came over and did nothing then advise me she never received a call from the contractor in regards to covered repairs. Second attempt to solve this issue the insurance company dispatches the same plumber to do the same job he failed to do the first time however this time he simply places a business card on our door and walks away without a knock, ringing of the door bell or a phone call. Now the insurance company is attempting to get in contact with this plumber and they are unable to reach him. I already wasted 2 days of my life waiting on F- Plumbing company to do their job. I can't believe I gave in and allowed A+ Plumbing & Rooter Inc. to enter my property for ANY reason let alone to work on a plumbing issue. My initial introduction to them was back in 2009 where the problems began. They went so far as to claim that I had a slab leak, and tried to bill my insurance accordingly - WHICH WAS A BLATANT LIE! So recently we had an issue with the master bath where the water would not turn off. After calling my insurance company and finding they were referring A+ I told them I wasn't sure that was a good idea due to the last encounter of fraud but they claimed it had all been handled so I agreed. I waited five hours and did not receive a call from A+ to schedule an appointment so I contacted them. A technician arrived the next day, looked at the faucet and said that the part he needed was obsolete and that he'd have to see if he could locate one. He left for the day stating he could not return until the next day - now I'm without water for two days. He returned the next day and actually began to work on the repair and stated - "Oh, I made a mistake yesterday, this is a Kohler, I can run to a local vender and pick up the correct part." He returned after two hours, made the repair and left. My husband went to take a shower today and the handel fell out of the wall! I called and they can't sent anyone until next week. STAY AWAY FROM A+ and save yourself from ulcers. I must insert one more item. If you are still going to go with this company - the ONLY technician you should ask for is Angel - yes, he is the best. Too bad he's not an independent because he is worth his weight in gold. read more

We thought the repair was great - he took the time to explain what was wrong with our toilets and kept asking for him to come back. After the 3rd time they had to come out, we started wondering if the problems we were experiencing wasn't the toilet, but the repairman. After the 3rd he "fixed" the toilet, we ended up with water on the bathroom floor... Needless to say, not a good job. Each plumber had the same diagnosis on our hot water heater. "Old and needs to be replaced" the warranty company was giving each plumber such grief they did not want to work on our case. Thank god Ralph was called out to our home. It still took him a bit of going back and forth with them but he did not give up on us which I'm forever grateful for! By far the worst experience I have ever had in my entire life. First time home warranty sent them out to fix a slab leak. Everything seemed fine after the meeting and they were going to start work after the water damage was taken care of. When they came out they drill huge holes in the studs and even took out half the stud at the base of the 2x4. They cut into a cabinet, and then realized what they were looking for wasn't there. When they left for the day they left all there trash and did no cleanup whatsoever. I called the owner Ralph back to take a look at the work. He came out and told me all his bored holes and notches in the studs were to code. When they clearly were not. He said the work was not done and that he still needed to do more work on it, even though I had the signed document stated work was completed. I declined the work and told him I wanted a permit to ensure everything was to code. After two weeks of not returning phone calls I finally got a hold of him, and he told me he had fired the plumber that did the job and he would like to finish it before a inspector came out. I wanted the job done so I finally let him do it. It passed inspection after another 5 hours of work. When my reconstruction was set to begin, they found there was still a slab leak. It's not covered in the warranty because a plus used all the money. I called another plumber out to fix the new leak, and he told me that aplus left all the acid on the pipes when the was sealing it. I asked to check to see if they plumber fixed the correct leak so that first time home warranty could pay for part of it due to a botched job, and he told me they cut the pipe in such a bad spot that there would be no way to test it unless the broke into the slab. DO NOT!!!! Let first time home warranty dispatch them, you will regret it. read more

We purchased a property with a tankless water heater and aren't familiar with how they operate compared to a standard one. When it stopped working, we called A Plus and they helped me fix it over the phone. They could have easily sent someone out just to pocket the service fee but didn't. I don't know why everyone else has given A-Plus such terrible reviews, but I have to say my experience was FANTASTIC! I was referred to them through First American (my home warranty company) and, after being frightened by the negative reviews on Yelp, and being assured by First American that they had been doing business with A-Plus since 1997, with no complaints, I decided to give them a try. For ONCE I am glad I didn't go by my fellow Yelpers opinions. I was very impressed with Laura, the woman that I spoke with on the phone at A-Plus. She was very friendly and very willing to get someone out to my house the same day in order to fix my leaky ceiling. She even had the contractor contact me 45 minutes ahead of time, so that I would have plenty of time to get home from work in order to be there when he arrived. (In fact, he actually gave me an hour notice!) The contractor, Angel (who completely lived up to his name) was wonderful, and I mean WONDERFUL! He arrived at exactly the time he told me he would and fixed my leaky ceiling (I guess I should say leaky hot water pipe) quickly and efficiently. He was careful to put plastic down on my wood floors, as to not make a mess or get them wet. He kept me informed as to what he was doing and what he found and how he was going to fix it, as well as telling me that he was only going to cut a little bit of drywall and/or wood out at a time, so that he wasn't making my walls into swiss cheese or cutting any unseen wires. I would HIGHLY recommend this company to anyone who has plumbing issues or needs. I will definitely contact them again, if there is ever any need in the future! read more

Do not work with this company. They are dishonest about keeping appointments. I had them cancel at the last minute on me twice. My guess, if the level of dedication, service and truthfulness they place towards making and meeting appointments is this poor, the workmanship will be the same. If your time is important to you, if honesty and integrity are important to you, I highly recommend you find a different service provider. If you are assigned this company through your home warranty, save yourself a lot of time and demand a different contractor. If you take the time to read the other reviews you will find, with making appointments, Angie appears to be the person who lies about having called customers back to reschedule, etc. If you are stuck with no other option but this company I would make sure to speak to a different dispatcher as Angie appears to be the root cause. If I was the company owner, unless you are married to this woman, I'd find yourself someone you can trust, if she willfully lies to customers she is most likely doing the same to you. read more

Not only was this company not able to solve my plumbing problem but their customer service representative accused me of lying she screamed at me using curse language and hung up. The boss when he returned my call would not reschedule until after Thanksgiving and I will not be able to have Thanksgiving at my home as all of the plumbing is backed up. They had cancelled and rescheduled on the previous visit. This time they claimed they came to my home but I was present in the home and by my phone repeatedly calling to check in between 8am and 4:45pm. They only called me back once at the very end of the day when I was told to "curse-word" call my insurance and find another company. This was not the first time my insurance had assigned me to this company in fact they had not properly fixed the problem in 3 visits they took a long time each time to get back to me and each time the customer service rep was inconsiderate. read more

Such an awful way to start my Monday. I came home over the weekend to a terrible water leak in a bathroom and a flooded garage after a weekend away. After spending ALL day Sunday trying to get a plumber here through our home warranty and now 2 days with no water I was assured by my home warranty company that APLUS Plumbing would call me first thing Monday morning and have a plumber here between 9-11. After NOT hearing from anyone from APLUS I called around 9:20 to only be RUDELY greeted by a RUDE lady who let me know now no one is available to service until later in the day around 11-3. I have NEVER been so upset about a customer service call. If you are running late or can't service until later a NICE PHONE CALL to let your customer know would be APPRECIATED and you would not be getting blasted all over with bad reviews. This is leaves such a BAD taste in my mouth for your company. A simple phone call or even a NICE and apologetic answer on the other line would have helped. I am SOOOOO upset now. I had seen a lot of negative reviews for not only A+ Plumbing, but also for my home warranty company. So, I have to say now that I've received the service that I am pleasantly surprised. I had what I assumed was a slab leak on 12/23... two days before Christmas. I called First American, my home warranty company. They dispatched out my call to A+ and said that A+ should get back to me no later than the next day. Not being one to wait, I called A+ later in the day to make sure they received my dispatch and get me on the schedule ASAP. The person who answered didn't sound overly excited and it took her a few minutes to find the dispatch, but we got it scheduled, but I would have to wait until the afternoon of Friday 12/27 to get someone out. In some respects, that is understandable with the holidays. But, you know how it is... The guy would come at the end of the day and tell me that they don't have the parts, so he won't be able to get my slab leak fixed until next week. Scheduling was the worst part of the experience I had. Here's where it gets way better... On 12/27, Angel comes out to my house and diagnoses that it is, in fact, a hot water slab leak. He also notices that a hose bib needs to be replaced and asks me to get authorization for that. Meanwhile, he needs to get authorization for the slab leak from the home warranty company. To tide me over, he shuts off only my hot water to prevent continued damage. Angel calls me the next day to tell me that he received authorization on repairs for the slab leak and can come out Sunday 12/29 after noon. Sunday. Let me repeat that: Sunday. On Sunday morning, Angel calls me and tells me that he finished up an earlier appointment and wants to know if it is okay to come by early. Absolutely! Angel comes by in the morning and is done with the re-piping of my hot water plumbing in about three hours. Fantastic! He was very professional and an excellent communicator. He said that he has been doing plumbing for something like 15 years. He told me that it is currently only him and the owner that go out and do plumbing for A+. Kudos, guys! read more

After the aggravation of being jerked around by First American Home Warranty, and having their first "plumber" not even call me (or call me back) for days then not have an appointment for 10 days, Ralph was an amazing relief!! He answered the phone and managed a same day appointment for me. He was on time, efficient, and worked super clean! In less than 6 hours he had a problem that had taken over a week to get anyone to help with fixed. Done. He was just so nice and easy to work with! We had 2 slab leaks at the same time in both our hot and cold water lines and contacted A Plus plumbing to do the repairs. They sent Andy Perez, one of their technicians, to do the repairs and we were extremely pleased with Andy's diagnosis, work ethic and professionalism. He is, without question, an honest, hard working and sincere person who's only goal is to make the entire process a pleasant and stress free experience. He worked quickly and efficiently and takes pride in his work. He is a perfectionist who treated my job as if it were his own home. In addition, because we had water damage, he also referred both a restoration company, PRC, and Drywall / paint repair company to complete the additional repairs. Both companies worked seamlessly with Andy so that they coordinated and timed their work for the least amount of disruption to our home. I simply cannot say enough good things about A Plus Plumbing & Rooter Inc. and especially our excellent technician, Andy!! We've been in our San Clemente home for 22 years and when we bought, it also came with a Home Warrantee Insurance Plan which we've just continued to renew every year thereafter. What we've found over the years is that you really can't pick and choose a vender for the specific trade that you need at the time. The insurance plan has their list of approved vendors, who have been sufficient over the years, however, they oftentimes come from north and east Orange County. Since my husband is a licensed general contractor and very particular about quality of workmanship, in replacing appliances as necessary, he generally opts to take "cash out" for the approved cost to replace what can't be repaired (i.e. cooktop, dishwasher, washing machine, etc.) purchase our choice of appliance and do the installations with our small but mighty team. Well our hot water heater decided to spring a leak, of course, on the 4th of July... I said that I'd call in a service request to the Home Warrantee company and my hubby said "How about I go get one from Lowe's and have it installed before dinner?" But I hate to spend $1000 plus when we could just spend the $75 copay, so we compromised that I'd file the claim for an expedited service call and once claim approved then he could go get the water heater and we'd be reimbursed. First thing next morning Andy from A Plus Plumbing, right here in Laguna Niguel, arrived. He was extremely sharp, knowledgeable and told us that he could be back at 9 the very next morning (today) with a new water heater, install it and remove old one. That is EXACTLY what happened! First of all ANDY is AMAZING! Very personable and professional. We were planning on being in a hotel for a day or two, I went to work the same time he started working around 9:30am and when I got home for lunch at 1:30 he was completely done! Unbelievable!! This company has terrible service. I called in and they dont have an "electronic" reporting system so their customer service has no idea what is going on unless the plumber actually phones in and explains verbally to the customer service. The technician sent in a report to my home warranty company stating that the condition was "pre-existing" with no further details. Its been 2 weeks now and they have yet to send an actual report out.
