    Sichuan Shredded Pork
    Thomas L.

Twice the cost - half the flavor. I really wanted to enjoy the food... really. I don't like giving bad reviews - as I know people are working hard... but I think people should know what they can expect when they shell out their own hard earned money. Unfortunately, I must say that this was the most expensive yet bland Chinese meal that I have had in quite some time... maybe ever. Seriously, $40-50 per entree?!?! We had spring rolls to start - they were okay at $8 for two. We then ordered the Sichuan shredded pork (medium) and the red chili shrimp. They were okay, but not for the price they charge. And... we basically were finished with the pork dish by the time the shrimp dish came out. I then ordered the salt & pepper tofu hoping for a decent dish - but I think this was the worst dish of the three. No salt, minimum pepper, and beer battered tofu. Ugh! The only redeeming part of my meal were the cocktails from Ryan, the bartender. Granted - my wife and I had 3 drinks each - but the final total was $300 (not including tip). Live and learn...

We were in Vermont for 4 days and this was hands down the best meal we ate while in town. I wish it was our first night so we could be chowing on leftovers all 4 days! The restaurant ambiance is exactly what you'd want for a classic Asian place. Slightly old, yet styled in the perfect decor. Many maroons and tans, deep wood tables, all with lazy Susan's for the best family style dining. The service was fabulous. Our waitress was knowledgeable about each dish and recommended many options to us, all were delicious. We definitely got way way more food than we needed, but it allowed us to try so many dishes! Everything was fabulous. I'd be dining here weekly if we lived in town. Cocktails were tasty and fun to order based on the authentic nature of each one. Glass noodles, two chicken dishes, Asian cucumber, dumplings, gyoza, a beef dish (cooked to perfection and our favorite dish).

Quite good food, very expensive. Lots of good flavors and everything is well cooked. Enjoyed the chefs tasting menu, but likely would order separately next time. Very friendly servers and great service. Will be back I'm sure.

I get the Buddha's beef and it is one of my favorite dishes. I always visit this restaurant when back in Burlington. Service is always good, though I find it most helpful when staff ask how someone wants something prepared vs. Assuming we want the average /less amount of spice than would be typically prepared with. There is something on the menu for everyone here. Food is served as it is ready vs all at once. This food is much nicer than fast food Chinese but I do not know enough to know if it does traditional Chinese food justice. Relaxing setting.

Recommended by a friend and our first visit. We ordered the tasting menu and a pot of sake. Very delicious but brought home a lot of food. It was a great way to learn the menu but now I know my favorites and would stick with those for a better value. I probably wouldn't have tried sesame beef made with seitan but so glad it was part of the tasting because it was crazy good and now I'll definitely get it again. Their sauces really take the dishes to the next level even on simple dishes like spring rolls and dumplings, the sauce took it over the top. Service was amazing. Many servers kept bringing food, clearing the table, filling water and asking about the food. Ambiance was upscale. I've read some mediocre reviews on yelp and I'll say it depends on what you order. I didn't try any of the meat dishes so I can't comment on that... but we'll definitely be back.

    General Tso's with cauliflower

Yelp seems torn about whether A Single Pebble is the greatest restaurant in Burlington or actually quite terrible. I am here to tell you that they are both wrong: it is a heaping pile of mediocrity . To be clear, nothing we got was terrible. It was all different kinds of average. The general tso's cauliflower was too breaded and the sauce was like every other general tso you've had. But it was fine and I ate it. The chicken fried rice was really bland and we mostly left it alone. The chicken dumplings were the saddest thing we ate: mushy, bland and small. The lo mein was the most flavorful thing we had. Like some of you, I read the gushing reviews here and elsewhere and found myself asking if these people have ever eaten Chinese food before. Hell, the couple next to us was doing backflips over their food, ooh'ing and ahh'ing with every forgettable bite. I didn't ask them, but I'm fairly certain they would give Panda Express a Michelin star. If you've had great Chinese food before, don't go here. If you are blown away by a poor man's PF Chang's, you've come to the right place.

Ate here about a month ago and somehow forgot to write a review about the most incredible experience I've had in a restaurant and for over two years. I believe our servers name was Josh, who lend us on a journey through food and drink. He was lively in every way! We popped in after a last minute road trip from Saratoga, and we able to snatch a two - top bar seat without a reservation. We were greeted warmly, which was nice despite no reservation and being in hiking boots. My partner and I did the vegetarian tasting menu (I'm vegan, he's not) and wow wow wow was it worth every penny. I won't bore you with every detail, but the food here is exceptional. Made with love and care, every dumpling has a story and each sauce is crafted to compliment them. I was blown away by the service, attention to detail, and valiant flavors of Asia. This will be an experience I never forget - I promise that.

Sitting outside gave us a gorgeous view of the waterfront, and the round tables with deck chairs were comfortable and perfect for letting everyone in our party talk to each other. I shared the lobster roll and fish and chips, and both were prepared well and came with a generous amount of french fries. The lobster roll was marked as market price ($34 when we went) and was about 3oz of lobster meat. It wasn't the largest restaurant markup I've seen, but it also wasn't a great deal. The fish and chips was a fish filet covered in bread crumbs instead of the usual thick batter. It felt similar to fish sticks was a good balance of tender on the inside and seasoned on the outside. I would come again for the lovely views and to try their other menu items. A few members of our party got tacos which looked good.

Part of our reason for a return visit was the outstanding service provided to us by Molly. We felt double spoiled by having her be our server for dinner. The setting was delightful. Both times we got a great table by the window with fabulous views of the harbor and Lake Champlain. The vibe is relaxed, warm, and charming. No frills. The focus is on the food and the view. The food was really good. For lunch we shared a lobster roll. Now I know that there is a lot of controversy on what makes an "authentic" lobster roll. My take on having them in just about every state from Maine to Florida and and few tasty ones in my inland location. This one tasted good to me - lots of lobster, not too much mayo, fresh soft bun and some nice romaine for some crunch. They made me a lovely Cranberry Mule mocktail to sip on during the meal. For dinner my husband had the Crab Cake and I had the Shrimp Scampi. Both were quite good and the fish tasted fresh. We finished off with a decadent Key Lime Pie. Next time we are in the Burlington area, this will definitely be worth a return visit.

Located in the Courtyard (Marriott) Hotel, only a stone's throw from Lake Champlain and close to the center of Burlington, VT, the restaurant sits just off the lobby. I made a dinner reservation and we was seated by the window with a view of the park with the lake beyond. Off to a good start. My Dirty Martini was spot-on. The perfect balance of Tito's and brine. Only missing the 'bleu' cheese olives. I often order a second appetizer as my entree. My starter was carpaccio that was outstanding. The microgreens were a nice touch. The mussels (appetizer) that I chose for my main course were small in size but ample in portion and were the perfect choice for me. My husband chose the cheese platter for his starter. It was disappointing. Two slices of bleu cheese. Should have been three different ones for $15. And no VT cheddar? Not much imagination here. His Steak Frites was OK; the quality of the beef could have been better. We shared the spinach watermelon salad which was fresh and delicious. Service was friendly and attentive. The salad was nothing special but it did scratch my eat healthier itch. The chowder was good. It had something different from most white chowders although I couldn't put my finger on what made it different. If I had to guess I'd say they put a lot of oregano in it. I ended up ordering peel n eat shrimp too. It was exactly what you'd expect although they must have boiled the shrimp just for this order because they arrived hot, making it somewhat difficult to peel. They helped take our coats/hang them for us. We were always closely attended to and given time if more was needed. The homemade pasta dish we got with greens and mushrooms was fantastic! My bf liked the shrimp appetizer/smaller dish and we all liked the trout, but it seemed a little mushy/overcooked. Cons: loud/bad acoustics, dim, portion size(only for one specific dish) A little hard to hear inside when it's at peak capacity. Was at dinner with a group of four and it was quite hard to hear the person diagonally across from me the entire night. Lighting was a little too dim for my personal liking but others may not mind(for example, it was darker inside than it was outside at 6pm). Food was overall very good. The disappointments were a clam dish we couldn't even first find any clams in and then the two people who got them when we divided up the dish only got two each! And the side greens, seemed overcooked and were over-salted. Would definitely try it again would recommend to others.
