I was lucky enough to be in Fort Bragg on a weekend when this place was open. The lemon mousse cake is a must have here. It has the perfect balance of sweet and sour. I also loved the cupcakes...moist and not too sweet (also not too big in size)! Princess cake looked pretty but was not my liking, since it was just layers of cream covered in fondant. While macarons were also not the best I have had (they were a little too overcooked and hard), I think you cannot go wrong with their cupcakes and fruit flavored cakes! We purposely time our Mendocino/Ft Bragg trip around the weekend since that is when she is typically open there is now way we are missing any goodies (even went back a second time before we left to get more goodies for the road). Small intimate storefront bakery with many goods inside from macarons, princess cake, edible cookie dough, cookies, cupcakes and more. Oh my gosh. Heavenly. And great prices, especially given the quality of both the taste and appearance of the treats! We wandered by a few times on Valentine's Day, and there was a line out the door. When we stopped by later in the afternoon, it was a little less busy so we decided to see what was left in the case. The chefs were clearly baking all day to meet the demand, so there was still quite a variety even on such a busy day! We got a lemon mousse cake, coconut cream tart, and tiramisu. All were fantastic, clear evidence in favor of the crowds, but the lemon mousse in particular had everyone talking about when we'd be able to make another trip to get it again. Light, fluffy, incredibly fresh and bright. This is definitely going to be a regular stop for me when I'm in need of a real treat! read more

I've been hoping to find this place open on Sat/Sunday for months now. They always seem closed, but finally this weekend I was surprised to see their door was open. We tried the chocolate tart, pecan tart and the lemon olloliberry mousse tart. All of them were fabulous. I'm only docking them a star because they weren't very friendly. One lady was breaking up honeycomb for Cowlicks and I asked a question about their equipment... she just glared at me like she was irritated customers were there and ignored us. Ultimately disappointed. We came during their anniversary event and ordered a funfetti/birthday cupcake, churro cupcake, and pistachio and chocolate macrons. The cupcakes were topped with a cake ball(similar texture and flavor to what's inside a cake pop) and a small churro respectively, both super yummy. That was the best part. The cake in both was minimally flavored and so dry. The birthday cake had some sort of filling, I couldn't tell you what it was because it tasted just "sweet." The frosting on both left a film in my mouth and both tasted, again, just sweet. The macarons did not taste like pistachio or chocolate. The pistachio was bright green, which is off putting compared to a naturally colored macron. The filling in both was a bit runny and was spilling out the sides when we went to grab them. The only good thing really was the texture of the cookies. Hopefully it was an off day? But we will not be coming back. :( read more

AMAZING! Very friendly staff! They have beautiful pastries! I tried the lemon tart, blueberry clafoutis and brownie. They were all delicious. If you're visiting for the week or weekend I recommend you buy extra! They are only open Fridays and Saturdays and I am so bummed I didn't get more. It's Sunday and I woke up thinking about the lemon tart. We walked all over Fort Bragg and Mendocino and this really was the most welcoming and elegant bakery. We were in Fort Bragg for the day and were looking for a place to have lunch when we stumbled upon this quaint street with a teal macaroon hanging above the storefront. We patiently waited in line, which moved quickly, for our turn. The store is tiny and only two people are allowed inside, wearing masks of course. We studied the display case before deciding on a Honey Orange tart, each one was beautifully decorated with blue berries. It barely had hints of orange notes and was simply delicious. We also ordered coconut carmel macaroons which were amazing a vanilla macaroon which tasted good but was slightly over cooked. The strawberry cheesecake filled cookies were TO DIE FOR. My husband said the filled chocolate chip cookie was ok. We continue to search for a place to have lunch. We dipped into our bag of treats and were in awe. Needless to say, we quickly left the waiting area of the North Coast brewing company and returned to get more treats to take home and share. We literally returned ten inured after placing our first order. When we got there I was not surprised but shocked that in ten minutes, the display case had half as many treats as when I was first there. If you are ever looking for epically paired flavors and the most wonderfully treats, stop in. You definitely won't be disappointed! Very disappointed in this business. Went online to see about ordering a celebration cake. Website said to give 2 weeks notice to guarantee cake would be ready. I sent an email as directed on their site. Then I called when they opened to discuss the order. First of all, they are only open Friday and Saturdays from 11 to 4 - due to Covid, which I can understand. However, when I called, they told me they were booked for that date with two weddings...the date is a month away. We were invited to a friend's house for dinner and we said that we would bring dessert. Not being from the area we searched Yelp for bakeries. I wanted to bring something special and the offerings listed online seemed to meet my desires. I had figured on buying a tart, figuring that a standard sized tart would be enough to serve four people. When we got to the bakery I was disappointed to see that the tarts were small for individual portions. They seemed to me to be a bit pricey for the size. We ended up getting three desserts (chocolate almond tart, cheesecake, and Black Forest mousse) to share four ways. They were delicious. Sweet Affair is more appropriate for a sweet treat while exploring Fort Bragg or pre-ordering something larger for a special occasion, but not for our intentions of a gift of dessert on the way to dinner. read more

This bakery is by far the best bakery I've ever been too! Any time I go to Fort Bragg I make it a priority to stop here because everything is so delicious! Recently I got the olive oil cake, chocolate almond tart and some eclairs. The olive oil cake had a passion fruit custard on top that was to die for! My family and I decided to take a weekend trip to Fort Bragg and visit the glass beach. Since this was to celebrate our daughter's birthday we looked for a local place to get a cake. A Sweet Affair was one of the few places we could find and my expectations were not very high. Instead of getting a cake we decided to get an assortment of individual desserts. I'm sure glad we did, because we were caught off guard, in a good way, by some treats that we wouldn't have had otherwise. All the items were very good, but a few were really amazing. So much so that we not only went back a second time on this short trip, but would probably consider making the three hour trip on a slow weekend to pickup some more. These include the vanilla cupcake (now my favorite anywhere), the cookies and creme cupcake (now my other favorite) and the orange creamsicle creme brûlée (embarrassed to say we ate 4 of these damn things!).
