    Dined last night- was surprised to be handed only the restaurant week menu for when I made the reservation thru open table it did not mention that. We were greeted right at the front door of the restaurant. The server and bus boy were very attentive. Complimentary olives & bread- nice. Salad- baby mixed greens- very good. Main dishes Braised Beef Short-rib - ok- Risotto was crunchy. Tagliatelle Bolognese- had no taste. Drinks Limoncello Martini Tall Vodka & Soda Dessert: We had one of each on the menu (see pictures below)- they were good. I've been wanting to try this place for two years, since they cancelled my reservation. I so wanted this restaurant to be very good- it was just ok.

    When I say this place is one of Chicago's best kept secrets, I'm talking treasure island. You will walk right by this on a Main Street not thinking it's a restaurant. It is a small and intimate white table cloth setting when you walk in. We came on a quiet Tuesday night for an early dinner. First ones in the room and 3 more tables filled up shortly after. Great service accompanied by outstanding food in my opinion. Small menu, everything ordered was made to precision. The quality of ingredients used on the food and the exquisiteness of the hand made pasta really blew me away. The gnocchi and tagliatelle were the closest thing I've tried to perfection in a while. I will definitely be back soon to try their cacio e pepe!

    I've been waiting to post this because I don't know how to put into words the experience we had. All I truly can say is wow. The service was spectacular. From seating to catering drinks to our tastes to water refilling (I'll explain later) was perfect. We've lived in Chicago since October and costed most high ended restaurants but nothing compares to this. The food, well let's just say it's all true, fresh, flavorful, nice t weighed down with salt and presented beautifully. Do the Pre Fixe..... thank me later!

But this place has the new gold standard for a meatball. It was everything you want. It is fork tender, full of flavor, no chewy ground up bits. The pizzas were authentic and thin. With fabulous house made red sauce that wasn't too thick and overwhelming. The flavor was A+ The cocktails were so good! All made from scratch with love. The ambiance was cozy and comfortable. A copy of the boar stands proudly near the entrance of the restaurant, and though it is not as old as the original 1634 sculpture, it was a charming reminder of our amazing Italian holiday. Did I mention that the weekday Happy Hour (4-6PM) specials are quite good? The specials are served only at the bar area, so you might have to wait a few minutes for available seating. We started with some drinks, including two kinds of Negroni. The wild mushroom arancini (5 little balls for $6) were the smallest I've tried, but they were creamy and melt-in-your mouth delicious. The whipped ricotta and jam beautifully served on a strip of toasty focaccia was a unique taste sensation. Prime beef meatballs and short rib sliders on toasted ciabatta bread also hit the spot. Even though we were merely dining at the bar, we enjoyed the overall vibe of the restaurant. Yesterday I decided to pop on their website again and was delighted to find that they had released same day dinner reservations for patio only dining. Service was wonderful and I didn't mind sitting outside at all next to the road with cars. I actually never stepped foot in the restaurant so cannot comment on what it's like inside. But do not give up that patio dining reservation if it's available. All of our dishes were delicious. I was really impressed by the meatball appetizers, chicken vesuvio (the potatoes are a must get as a side if you skip this dish), and branzino. The meats and sauces were wonderfully balanced and tender. Nothing tasted overly salted. Ironically, the pasta felt less of a star compared to the other dishes. And of course I had to get the gelato, which was so aesthetically presented and the taste just reminded me of an Italian summer vacation.
