Had a severely neglected tree that was overgrown, lots of dead branches, dead leaves, dead trunk pieces and I needed to get it trimmed/cut big time to appease my HOA. Family doesn't like to get landscaping done, and would always ask the neighbors to trim it. I finally had enough and decided to go on Yelp for a professional to take a look at it. Nelson and his team were fast, efficient, and gave me good advice on what to do with my tree for future maintenance. It may look pretty bare now but that's to be expected with how overgrown and dead that half of the tree was!! (The original tree was botched by a neighbor chopping off one limb years ago). The tree reached well over my second story window, so I was worried it'd be too big of a job. Other places quoted me much, much, much higher (around $500+). This job was $275, very fair, and for how much work they did during the hottest part of the day, I was very pleased! Nelson is awesome! He spent plenty of time with my husband and I ensuring we planned our back yard exactly how we wanted it. I was/am very disappointed with the final product and service from this company. Nelson certainly talked a big game and convinced me that I was in good hands and he offered all these warranties on his work. Now I have to figure out how to fix this mess. I should have never have started the project or at least used someone else. The project: remove the front yard grass and plant a few bushes and 1 tree. The project started in March of this year. It was completed in a timely manner. Maybe that was the problem. The final product is 1 dead tree 1/4 of the new bushes are dead and some of the original bushes are dying. Not to mention grass everywhere. Nelson keeps blaming the unusual amount of rain and says he is following up with his vendor about the professional weed barrier he used. He either used cheap ass weed barrier or did not take the original grass out properly.... or both... Just so sad to look at. See pictures. read more

Their quote on the cost of the joshua trees was off, but Nelson worked with us to make the total cost work within our budget. I especially love the putting green and am so grateful they suggested swapping out our old pavers. We've used A-Z Landscaping services twice now and we couldn't be more happier! The first time to trim our tree and bushes in the front. The husband was pretty impressed with not only their work, but how fast they were able to come out and finish the job, on a weekend in fact. Since the husband was happy with their work, he decided to retain their services again to build our retaining wall in the back. Now let me first say, I have no clue about all this retaining wall, digging, laying bricks mumbo jumbo stuff but what I do know is what I like and I must say I love the wall that they put up. It took a bit longer than expected but I'm happy that they didn't rush the job and give us a crappy wall. I can tell Alex's guys put a lot of effort and work into our wall and making sure that we were completely satisfied. Not only that, but Alex was in constant communication with the husband during the entire job. This was an added plus for me cause like I stated earlier, Im pretty clueless when it comes to these things. Ask me and my answer will always be "uhh I don't know, let me call my husband so you can talk to him." Lol. Now our backyard is far from being done but it's definitely a step in the right direction. I really hate leaving bad reviews, but after so many efforts to contact A-Z to fix/complete their work. My wife and I are giving up and taking our loses. When we first spoke with Nelson he is a nice and professional person. He helped with recommendations and met up with us at Star Nursery to pick out plants. My wife and I decided to have his company do our front yard landscaping. When they came to our house everyone was nice and professional. So their guest service isn't the problem. The issue we had with A-Z is getting them to come back and complete certain problems in a timely manner. Our first issue was when they mounted a light sensor unit in the garage. The sensor is supposed to detect natural light so it'll turn off during the day and come in at night. At night time whenever we open the garage the sensor would turn off our front yard light because of the garage lights. My wife and I called/email/voicemails and left many messages with a receptionist for them to relocate the sensor unit. It took then one month to finally come and take care of it. The second issue we had was when our plants they planted started to die. We called them in July, Nelson told my wife we are really busy but will come out end of August to replace them. Now all three plants are dead. This was supposed to be looked at late August and now we are in the second week of October. I understand that small business get busy and I'm glad they have jobs to do, but what about your previous customers? Our front yard project cost a little over $3,200. Three plants that are now dead cost us $180 for the three. We felt like once A-Z got paid for their work they took very little concern in fixing issues that came up. I made lunch for the crew one day and I asked Nelson "what if this....." his reply was "just give us a call and we'll come out". We hired them in March and it's October and out plants haven't been attended to or replaced like they promised. We even asked them to refund us the $180 for the dead plants so we can replant ourselves. Overall nice guys and professional, but after they got paid for the work. Very bad at keeping their promises to fix or replace things they've done. Will not recommend them to my friends. read more

From the beginning, we requested a quote, and they quickly responded asking if they could come out the next business day to provide a quote. Most other companies said "Please give our office a call so we can schedule a time to come out and give you a quote". So it was nice that they were proactive about getting our business, certainly something we appreciate. Alex and Zack came out to do their measurements and provide a quote. They were on time and very friendly, and even showed us how to program/operate our watering system since my Husband and I were totally clueless. We of course decided to accept their quote and they gave us specific dates/times when their team would be out to get the job done. Each day the workers were on time, friendly, and their work is great. They were all very accomodating as we added a few things to our project last minute like adding a paver pathway from our front door to our new beautiful backyard. We also had the pleasure of working with Nelson in the office since we decided to utilize their GreenSky financing option. Nelson was nice and walked us through the entire process, it was seamless and painless. When we look for businesses to help with expensive projects, especially something we look at everyday like our backyard, we look for punctuality, communication, pricing, and quality work. **** PLEASE ALSO READ THE UPDATE AT THE BOTTOM **** I found A-Z Landscaping based on their great reviews on Yelp. I really wanted to write a great review on them, but unfortunately I cannot. I talked to Alex a few times, he came, provided an estimate and gave me a great offer. The job that was done was really professional, the team were nice, polite and answered all of my questions, no doubts about it. However... Every company is measures based on the service they provide after-hand (aka Warranty), not just based on the on-site job. They installed walkway pavers from the street to the house's entry door. Once they were finished I saw that some pavers are loose and it might be dangerous. Alex and his dad both said that the sand or concrete they put should solve the issue and I should wait about a week to let it dry. A week has passed, and the pavers are still loose. No one came to fix them since then. I am running after Alex with texts, cell phone calls, office calls and voice messages since April 4th (almost a month now), and if he does answer - he says he will send someone (Oscar), but no one ever shows up. This is really disappointing. Bottom line - if you want a great job being done but without any warranty, without taking any responsibility and to be completely ignored after payment - this is the company for you. My advise to you (something I learn the hard way), is to always use payment terms NET+30, so you can make sure that every problem that will occur in the first 30 days will be handled promptly. Never pay immediately when the job is done, only 30 days after, where 99.9% of the problem will happen. **** UPDATE BELOW **** For the original review above I gave 2 stars, because the job was done professionally (not the part that was supposed to be fixed). A few hours after the review Alex texted me, he apologized for the delay in fixing this issue and said he will send someone the following-day to fix the walkway pavers. The next morning at 7:30 AM the issue was fixed. I decided to raise my review's score from 2 stars to 3 stars, just because the job that was done, was done professionally. He provided me a very reasonable price and the whole process did not take very long at all. He left my yard clean by removing all the debris.
