the most painful Austin experience in a space there should be no drama. A1 came to my house to repair my garage door. They claimed the door was installed incorrectly by the builder and as a result the door fell down with the opener burned out. The lower panel of the door was the only piece that was damaged when the door fell so they looked at the lower panel and advised that the panel was discontinued and could not be ordered. My house is 2 years old! They convinced me that I'd have to replace the entire door, spring and opener or I'd have problems at a price tag of $6k. They claimed it was a custom door on a track house and couldn't do anything about that. I was frustrated at the fact that the builder did this and trusted A1. I ordered the door waited a month then got a call to install the door, I thought it was finally resolved. When the day came to install, we called A1 to be told they couldn't find the door in their warehouse and would have to reorder as a rush. Extremely frustrated they ordered the door on a rush, we waited 2 weeks and called them back to find out when it was coming. They acted like they never heard of us, they never ordered the door for the second time but tried to discount the door. They promised to call us the next day to verify the order was placed and they never did that either, what a surprise. We cancelled the door now 2 months after they came out and called another company, the next company came out, looked at the door, said the door was not discontinued and 2 weeks later my door is now working. BUYER BEWARE**Keep on shopping. Worst service you could ever imagine. Didn't even get the new garage I purchased through them installed. Do not do business with these guys. Wish I had looked on yelp before excepting their services. . Garage door fell off tracks onto my truck. Previous homeowners used A1 garage service (A1 sticker on door & wall) so I figured I would contract same service (really bad decision not sure what I was thinking, clearly wasn't thinking) Installer Nathan disassembled garage door from my vehicle without any help (solo). In doing so he put some gnarly scratches on the hood of truck. He could have asked for help. As tough as this was I let this slide... because how am I going to prove it? There was a fallen garage door on my truck.. Ordered a garage door and put $1500 down. The installer had to come out once again to make measurements (why wasn't this done last visit?!?) The installation date for garage door was set for August 10 . Day of install I get a call informing me that they ordered the wrong spring and would need to set me up for install in a Month. Reset-up appointment for a month later. Installer comes out, dismantled my garage door and then proceeds to tell me that he has the wrong garage door (after he reassembled, broken garage door) Called the scheduler to set up another appointment. They told me they didn't have anything for another two weeks. Cool whatever, I set up another appointment two weeks later. Installer was supposed to contact me by 1 PM. I didn't get a response so I contacted the appointment center at 3 PM and they told me that they would have the installer contact me. No call at 5pm so I called back and they told me he was still on another job. At 6 PM The installer contacted me and told me he was on his way. At 7:20 pm I get a call from the headquarters they claimed the installer would not be coming out because they had the wrong spring once again.. I told them I'm done and would like a refund. Few other things to mention the installer left bolt in my driveway that dug into the treads of my tires . No big deal it did not puncture my tires (e rated tires) He also left a small amount of trash in my driveway. Save yourself from time, frustration, hassle and money . Look elsewhere.. these guys are a huge scam. So much so I'm going to reach out to the bbb as well (who really has time for this) In the end I have scratches on my hood, bolt in the tire and took off 3 days of work for "installs" (I'm hourly not salary) and still don't have the door installed. I scheduled service with the company, they came out right away changed the springs and cables. I even upgraded to two springs, that cost was over $1200 after the work was done I got the bad news that I needed a new door which was going to cost me another $4120. My complaint is that I should've been told the entire price upfront to give me the option of getting a second quote. The first cost was a complete loss because I called for a second quote which is much less and they will have to take down the springs and cables I just had installed. The initial work done was of great quality, BUT they should've known that door needed to be replaced BEFORE the started the work. I called to complain and was told that they would only know the door needed to be replaced AFTER the spring/cable installation. If you claim to be the best in the industry then you should not do pressure sells after giving the quote you should want you customer check you out as well as other companies and a second quote at this price should be given. read more

Had insulation panels installed and springs changed last June. Alex was nice enough but as for the 'insulation panels' they did not work at all. My garage remained extremely hot during the summer. Today I noticed the tape is coming off of the panels. I am not paying for a service charge. I just would not recommend the insulation panels as they do nothing. No change in the winter months as well. I'll have a new insulated garage door installed at some point. I do have upgraded insultation above the garage in the attic so for me it was a waste of money. Sheduled appointment two days in advance and then at the last minute when they're supposed to be there they call and tell you maybe in a few days after that. Our garage door got caught or stuck and the cable on one end unraveled. This was during the current ice storm so needed it fixed ASAP. None of the other companies had availability but A1 Garage were able to send someone within a couple of hours. I made an appointment with them for garage door service for the 25th of March. A technician called me on the 25th of March and said he wouldn't be able to make it because he was in San Marcos, he didn't seem sure as to where I was. I had cancelled a previous commitment so as to be here for the appointment, I was a bit upset. Contacted the company after the phone call and they were very apologetic and set up another appointment for the next day, 26th of March with the promise that they would be there within the time window given. A technician called me on the 26th saying that he wouldn't be able to make it, AGAIN. They offered to reschedule my appointment. Needless to say, I did NOT. I cannot review their technical expertise or work; however, they definitely have a problem scheduling their appointments. So be aware if you make appointments with this company. I called A1 Garage after my garage door springs broke. I have torquemaster plus system and technician came and said it is an old system and he need to update to new torsion spring system which would cost $750 and i was not ready to pay and A1 garage charged $155 for labor. I found a DIY video and found that the torque master spring costs $180. I got it replaced with local handy man for $150. Do not ever engage A1 Garage if your Garage door is Torquemaster or Torquemaster plus, they are trying to replace the spring system which is not really needed read more

I booked them through yelp and they sent a tech for estimate. Their price is way higher than I expected so I wasn't planning on hire them. Then the tech started to say ok you can book us for a later date when you buy your own opener and we can install it for you, and I can waive the field trip fee today. I was shocked because nobody said anything about field trip fee on the phone. I ask the tech to call the dispatcher and ask about this. The dispatcher said ok, we 'll waive the fee today, you didn't know, are you going to book us? I'm like I'll need time to make a decision. After the call the tech ask if he can take some measurements around the garage, I said okay sure. After he's gone I discovered their stickers on my garage doors, on the existing garage opener, and they even removed the sticker from the other company, the one who installed the original opener and left the service number on the wall. This tech removed the sticker and put theirs on in! That's such a predatory behavior! So no, I won't use them. I removed all the stickers. read more

I contacted A-1 Garage to provide a tuneup because of issues. When I called, the intake person was extremely friendly and exhibited excellent customer service. My appointment was booked within 24 hours based on my schedule. I had a 5 hour window and received a phone call within 1 hour to advise that a technician was enroute. I received an email with his name and picture and he called to give me an estimate of his arrival time. Jason was prompt, extremely professional, friendly and explained what the issues were. He provided a written diagnostic of what additional work shoudl be done (at a later date). This is the first time in a long time that I felt like a business appreciated their customers. Wish I could give 0 stars. Long story short, our garage door had a panel pop out of the bracket and it was now hitting the wall. For anyone with half a brain, it was apparent the panel just needed to be put back into the bracket or worst case a new panel. A1 came out and after using the word structural integrity 50 times told me I needed a new door. When I asked why he couldn't try putting the panel in the bracket he told me he could try for $2,000. When I asked about a new panel he said it takes a year yo get new panels... a story directly proved false by competitors. After I declined that, he said I would definitely need a new door for $10,000. When I pushed him about getting a new panel or just putting it back in the bracket, I was told that it just wouldn't work with the "structural integrity"... lol. Needless to say, I called always available garage repair and they fixed it for $225 and it took 30 min. Don't get scammed by these people. read more
