As others noted, seems to be confusion related to 24/7 availability, I called about 8pm because I could not get my garage door closed, message stating to text, nothing at 9pm so I called a different company and had the door fixed by 10. I understand taking a night off, just state it in your voice mail. I also noticed a lawsuit from a former employee, I do not know the details, but courts usually do not find against the employer so I tend to think there is some merit to the situation. There appears to be a pattern on not being responsive, that coupled with the noted lawsuit and I will not be using this company again and I encourage others to think twice as well. read more

We finally got our garage doors. The guy assisting in the installation was really nice. They did a great job installing and we haven't had any issues with them. They look great! My husband used them again on a repair for a rental house and we had no issues as before. While I don't think I autos recommend them for new doors, we will use them for repairs. read more

Update: Larry the owner got in touch with me and came out immediately to fix the issue I had with my garage door and with no charge. Thank you for taking the time to do that and set things right. I appreciate it. My Experience with this company in regards to my garage door being fixed. I called the owner who told me to text him. A technician texted me back to schedule an appointment. Set it up for Friday morning. Took off work and waited. No one showed. The technician got back to me and said he mixed up his dates. He promised he would be there 10am sharp the next day. The next day. 10:15am. He finally knocks on my door. Against my better judgement I let him in. He does the job and is pleasant so no issues there. A couple of days later. Garage door won't work. I text the owner. I get no response. I text the technician. He tells me that the sensor is off and that is now a whole other repair for $100 after I paid to have the garage door fixed for $300. I'm going somewhere else for my repairs from now on. I refused to have them come again to charge me again for work that should have been completed. I've used this excellent company twice. This last time was why I will continue to use and recommend them. I noticed one of my springs had broken and contacted them. Dennis contacted me promptly and communicated very well. He didn't have two springs on his truck, but was able to come out the next day, at a time that was convenient to both of us. I have replaced the springs a few times in this house and found out that I can get springs that are warrantied for life, which is worth it for me. Dennis not only replaced the springs, but went over the whole system very thoroughly. He attached the arm to the wall a lot better than it was and lubed everything. The thing that I just loved was when he asked if he could tear off a piece of cardboard from a box in my garage. I said yes and he then put two pieces in the plastic around the light and Voila, I have a MUCH quieter garage door opener now (after 16 years)! Quick response with a quick quote which was just 65% the next lowest quote for installation of two new garage door openers with MyQ wifi controller built in, and was able to schedule for the same week. The openers were installed well and working great. One minor nit, the two wall controls were not exactly at the same height, I didn't notice before the tech left but my wife did. Also the tech did sweep up, but missed some trash, including a couple of sharp metal pieces and a screw. They were really hard to see against the epoxy floor though so I didn't take off stars for this. Definitely a great experience!. read more

That same company came back out and wanted to charge us 560.00 to do more work, claiming we needed some new parts. 560.00? Really? I paid their 50.00 service fee and was now out 450.00 and STILL had a garage door needing repair. I found Larry through a co-worker who highly recommended him. Not only did he fix the garage door, but he gave me explanations that were clear and concise, as well as maintenance tips, and what to watch for in the future. He also charged a small fraction of the cost from the original garage door company. Oh, and we didn't need any new parts. I'm glad to finally find an affordable and dependable Austin garage door company for our repairs. Reviewing this place again. I called Larry as soon as my garage door broke because I had such a great experience last time in a different house. He came to fix the connection from wire to sensors because the sensors were broken. They worked for a day or so. Then he came back out and ran an entirely new wire. That worked about a week or so. Then I ordered a whole new garage opener unit because it was not worth it for me to find sensors for a very old unit. As soon as my new opener arrived, he sent a technician to get it installed and he charged me the difference of what I've already paid from the first service call to an installation cost. I originally called Larry as I was driving from California to Austin with the moving truck right behind me! Bye bye California! I was having two car lifts installed in my garage and needed a couple Lift Master Jackshaft 8500 garage door units custom installed so the tracks were close to the ceiling. Larry came out and spent nearly all day custom cutting and installing the tracks so I could make sure my cars didn't hit the garage door when they are on the lift. 'Always Available?' Not. First call went to a full voice mailbox. I tried another company that did actually come out when they said they would. A few days later I wanted another opinion so I call this company again. Larry (presumably) answered on the first ring. Said he'd be out that evening or the next morning. I texted him my address and asked him to let me know when he would be heading out. He said he would do that. Didn't hear from him that evening. I texted him back the next morning and asked if he was coming by that morning. He texted back, 'Yes'. I waited until after 12pm and I had not heard peep. I texted him back and said sorry but I have to get on with my day. I called also and got the full voice mailbox message. Time is money for the small business but also for the customer. Larry wasted about 6 of my hours. I don't understand how he has 5 star ratings. He is clearly not managing his business very well at the moment. I backed up a truck and damaged my garage door badly. Larry said it would cost $1200 to replace all 4 panels as they were expensive Carriage style. I can't afford that. So, at my request, he repaired all 4 and it works great and all the panels look perfect except for one small area at the bottom that was like impossible. He charged me hardly anything! I hired Always Available to install a jackshaft garage door opener, the Chamberlain RJO70. The initial request for quote from Yelp was responded to pretty quickly (within hours). Trey had the opener mounted on the wall and working in pretty short order. The linked LED ceiling light was not yet installed, and I said I could take care of that, as I wasn't sure if I needed it (I have several ceiling-mounted LED strips already). After he left, I found that the Chamberlain phone app will actually not remotely open/close the door if the LED ceiling light is not installed (as a safety feature, I suppose?), so I looked through the manual to see about installing it. This is when I noticed/realized that the automated deadbolt advertised with the system was not installed...nor was it present in the opened box. I had definitely not misplaced this ahead of time; the installer was the first person to even open the box. I texted him (we had texted prior in arranging scheduling) to see if he possibly mistakenly loaded the deadbolt along with his gear, as I still wanted that part of the unit installed. No response. I filled out the contact form on the Always Available website 2 or 3 times over the following week inquiring about the deadbolt and having the job completed. No response. I've called the phone number 3 times over the almost 3 weeks since the job, and every time reach an automated message saying that the voice mailbox is full. The installed unit works well, but I am without the security component included (the automated deadbolt) and thus a not-quite-complete installation. I suppose I will try to see if Chamberlain sells the automated deadbolts separately to install myself... read more

After Always Available sells you a system they become "Never Available". We found Always Available years ago when needing a garage door service call. We were very happy with the outcome and service. A few years ago, our garage door was on it's last leg and Larry came out and gave us a quote and advice on replacing our system- once again very happy with the interaction and service. Over the last year or so, our garage door has stopped working/malfunctioned, etc several times for what seems like a couple different issues. We have tried to call Always Available/Larry several times for these issues, leaving messages that were never returned. Not a one. Garage door is not working yet again today. If i could have zero star. I'd put it in. Go away with this company. I had a spring broken ( left side). I called and talked to Larry ( the owner). He sent his guy, Kingston, over to replace both springs. He had 2 springs not even. The worst part he didn't put the 2 strings on two sides correctly, one time the door fell off track. He fixed it and put it back on track. Then he didn't know how to program my Marantec opener to make the door to go all the way up. He called Larry to come over to help. Larry came and called Marantec service customer to guide him. He finally managed to adjust the door. Job completed. I gave him the check that he prefered over credit card. He wrote me a receipt with a note 5 year part warranty, 1 year labor and 1 month service. I beleived him at that time without question. Couples day later I noticed the middle rail was a bit oscilator up and down when i opened or closed the door. I recorded and sent video to both Larry and Kingston to ask if that was normal. Both had no reponses. About a week since installation of springs i came back from work at around 3pm and opened it. Drove the car in and closed then the door fell off track and half hang over in the middle . I called Larry and sent him the pic of the door falling off. He told me he'd send his guy over. I waited until 6pm no one came. I sent messages to both Larry and Kingston to beg them to come to help because both 2 of our cars were trapped in the garage, and we couldn't get out for a grocery that evening. I called another company to come over for an emergency. It charged very expensive for an emergency call. He put the door back to the track, re-installed the strings both side that got traped in the door and made the door off track. Then he came back to engage the belt system to the door, and found out the the belt stuck and broken due to the felling of the door. He couldn't replace the belt cuz he didn't have Marantec part ( a Germany made parts). So we needed to operate the door manually while either to replace the new different opener with new belt or new Marantec belt. I never wrote a review, but this time I had to. In short, get away from this company Always Available Garrage Door. I'm in the process of complaining to our county's business board. I'm really disapointed for this company's low quality work and worstly its dishonesty in warranty. read more

He did NOT, however, clean up after the job. I specifically asked if they would haul away the waste from the old garage doors, and was told that this would be done. It was not. I have attempted to contact both the company and the technician multiple times. They are no longer taking my calls. The main number says its voicemail is full, and the tech's number goes to voicemail that is never acted on. If you hire this business, expect to have to clean up after them. I've called these guys twice now, and am super impressed. The first time they had to come out and make repairs, which was done promptly by a friendly, professional tech. Last Sunday, the security back up system starting malfunctioning, and my limited troubleshooting skills were exhausted quickly. These guys are open 7 days a week, so I gave them a call, which was answered by a person, not a machine. We spoke for a few minutes about what was happening and what I had checked and tried to do. I figured we'd next be discussing a home visit. But no, the guy said there were several other things to check and remediate before deciding to spend the money having him come out.
