I'm not tech level as most Mac users claim to be, but I'm Mac savvy enough and have been a user for about 10 years. I don't do my own upgrades, though I know how to, as I prefer to leave the specialty work to the specialists. I mean, they do this work everyday, though I can get it done they will just get it done so much quicker for me. I had an old iBook that I bought from A1A years ago, it still works, but I can tell that it was at the point where it's not worth putting any more money into it. I bit the bullet and ordered a new setup, a MacBook Pro and an iPad from Apple. The guys at A1A picked it up, transferred all of my data, and even delivered it to me. There was a fee, but it was minimal and worth my time. I didn't have to set foot in a retail store, wait in line, wait for any packages from Internet ordering, let alone drive. Convenience, convenience, convenience. These guys are calm and down to earth. Not flashy or pushy and they know their stuff. Another great friend referred me to them. After reading some of these bad reviews, I would have to strongly disagree. These guys are awesome. They have never steered my wrong. I will admit that they are lightly staffed so patience is a virtue. However they are competitively priced, honest and accommodating. I would say try them out. read more

I was referred to A1A by a friend of mine who had nothing but good things to say about this company. I have to completely agree! I had some issues with my MacBook and took it in for a diagnostic. I was told that it would cost $45 for the service, and they would apply that credit to the the repair if need be. I thought this was very fair, especially since my auto mechanic and most labor driven businesses operate in this manner. I dropped it off in the morning and by mid afternoon a salesperson called me back and informed me that my issues were fairly minor (software). I was told it was ready for pickup and by the time I got back into the store I was completely surprised that they didn't charge me for the diagnostic! I didn't get too excited, thinking that they really didn't fix the issue and felt guilty for charging me, BUT THEY IN FACT DID FIX IT! I don't have those software issues anymore and my computer has been happy ever since. I know now where to go for great costumer service and incredible service. read more

Took a Christmas gift of a used laptop back to the store on the 28th, about two weeks after purchasing it. Though the salesman sympathized with me, his hands were bound by store policy, which allows for returns up to three days from the date of purchase. A direct appeal explaining the circumstances (it had been put away until Christmas, the expense was a 'reach' for us, and it was for our college-attending daughter) to the owner Rob resulted in his agreeing to give us a full refund! He was very understanding in his email to me, and asked only for a few days to process the intake & check out the computer's workings. Really, really nice to find such a polite and understanding business owner; a rarity in this day and age. His staff, including Zan and Peter, were also very polite and extremely helpful. The Genius Bar at the Apple store told me I most likely had a bad video card in my Mac Pro but that there was a chance it was the logic board. I called several Mac Repair stores looking for help not wanting buy a new video card to find out that wasn't the problem. The first couple places I called wouldn't help me without paying for a diagnostic, plus neither could tell me if they even had the video card I needed if that was the problem. A1A let me come in with my computer. Put in a used video card while I waited, discovered that that wasn't the problem. Determined it was my CPU. Showed me the CPU test which Apple could have easily done. They let me know what my repair options were and saved me a lot of time and money chasing down help for my computer. Thumbs up for A1A. I used A1A Computers last week to fix my Mac Mini that wouldn't start, and an older SCSI Nikon film scanner with a FireWire adaptor that wouldn't mount. They figured it all out (no mean feat for the scanner), charged less than half of what another "discount" place had quoted for diagnosis (applied to repair) installed RAM cheaply, refused to charge extra for a glitch that developed at home, upgraded my system free, and turned this all around immediately. They were clever and friendly and courteous in the extreme. I don't understand why there are some less-than-glowing reviews here. I would have to say that this was the best experience I have ever had with computer service shops. I may dream up things for them to do henceforward. read more

Took my macbook pro 15in that had a bad harddrive, apple quoted me $500 for the repair with out my data, apple said they could not get my data and i would have to send it in to one of those expensive data recovery places. So i took it to these A1A they are right around the corner from me, should have take it here to start with, they charged me $45 to check, they did confirm that it was bad harddrive, a new 500gb harddrive was $79 and install with data transfer was$135, they got all my pics music and info off my old drive for $220 less than half of what apple quoted. Four months ago my daughter's laptop crashed. She is a poet and depended on her computer for all her manuscripts. This was a real emergency. I bought a MacIntosh computer from this company and had an unpleasant experience. They sold me a computer which was a few years old, and said there was no problem installing CS6 software on it. I took it home, installed the CS6 software - and the computer shutdown - no longer working. When I took the computer back the very next day, asking for a refund, they said no refunds. I said this computer does not work. No refunds. Finally, they took it back, but charged me a 20% restocking fee. So they made a few hundreds dollars from selling me a computer that did not meet my needs - or do what they promised. read more

I admit that I hoped for better customer service, but at the end of the day they were honest and attentive and took great care of me. Willing to take a cool bunch of nerds over a pretty store front. A.D. These guys are friendly and professional. On many occasions, I've dropped off my electronic waste to them and they recycle it, no questions asked and nothing requested in return. They provide a FREE and valuable service to the community and for the environent by taking and recycling old electronics, not to mention creating more storage in my house for more useful items. I brought my MacBookPro there after taking it to the apple store. It's a 2009 model and Apple said it had a failing Hard Drive and I might as well buy a new computer. I wasn't ready to spend $2000.00 on a new machine so I took it to A1A. They were great. They replaced my drive, saved my data, updated my operating system and iLife to a newer version and most importantly they were affordable.
