Spontaneously looked up this place to grab dinner before my Rod Stewart concert. I am so glad I came here. I walked in on a Tuesday night and the place was hoppin. I asked if I can just grab a seat at the bar, it looked very full, and the hostess was kind enough to show me a few open spots. I sat down and my bartender got me some water and a menu. I had him start me off with a lemon drop martini and 4 oysters. I also placed my dinner entree order which was the lettuce wrap. My lemon drop martini was perfect and my oysters came out and looked delicious! Yummy, yummy, yummy! (Clapping and jumping in my head, lol) it was different oysters and I can't remember where each one came from. All I know that it came from 'under the sea';) Lol The oysters tasted fantastic with the condiments on it. The condiments paired well and brought out very different flavors of the oysters. My dinner entree came out quickly after my oysters. My wagyu beef lettuce wrap came out sizzling hot and gorgeous. It was meant to sizzle and to be eaten! The lettuce wrap consists of kimchi, garlic, jalapeños, cucumbers, lettuce, sauce, and delicious wagyu beef. Oh my goodness, I have not had a lettuce wrap like this. I made my first wrap and the light shone down from heaven and I was in ecstasy. The flavors from the condiments and seasoned beef tantalized my tongue. Each flavor bursting as it danced around in my mouth and traveled to my stomach. So, so, damn delicious! Wow! I pretty much finished all the wagyu beef along with most of the lettuce wrap condiments. I was extremely happy. I then asked the bartender if they had a dessert menu because I wanted to get rid of the garlicy and spicy tasty from my mouth. I needed my breathe to smell like a lady, in case I meet someone;P Lol I got the crème brûlée. The crème brûlée came out and it was small or too big. It was a perfect size topped with this lemon shortcake of some sort with almonds and cherries. My gosh! That first bite of the crème brûlée was so creamy, light, and not overly sweet. YES! I devoured the whole dessert. I was so amazed at my dinner accomplishments this night as I pretty much finished everything I ordered! Lol I'm so proud of myself and came hungry. Another Yelper described this place as "lifechanging." My boyfriend and I were skeptical at first, but left using the same word. Vibes all day - this steakhouse has some of the best! Plants galore and excellent lighting. Prices are high but so, so worth it. They take reservations, have bar seating, and a community table for walk ins. Reminds me of San Francisco dining. I didn't know what A5 meant til I Googled it: "The highest yield grade and meat quality grade for Wagyu beef is A5, where A represents the yield grade, and 5 represents the meat quality grade. A5 Wagyu beef denotes meat with ideal firmness and texture, coloring, yield, and beef marbling score." We got braised greens (unreal), macaroni and cheese croquettes (best I've ever had - surprisingly light), steak (insanely amazing), Korean BBQ lettuce wraps (whoa, another level of good), black sesame ice cream (nice and light), and banana creme brûlée (didn't care for the cherries). They have 7 or so unique sauce options for your steak. The complementary A5 sauce was the best tasting over the chimichurri and nuoc Cham sauce, but the other sauces were still excellent. We took the sauces home with our leftovers and it has been the best to relive a piece of this excellent dining experience. Quant restaurant with charming decor (love the stain glass windows) and a great bar. The service was great from everybody on the staff. The menu provides a nice twist to the classic items you would typically find at a steakhouse. You must order the fried rice. The tenderloin was very impressive as it was not only cooked perfectly but it was very tender and melted in my mouth. Exquisite food with a fun, vibey atmosphere. Came here with a large party with reservations made a month or so in advance. We were welcomed to the bar until our table was ready and immediately was impressed by their cocktails (Manhattan and old fashioned). The cool plant theme, eclectic yet classy decor, music, energy, and exposed second level seating was eye catching and got us excited for what was to come. Food was ON POINT! We went family style with apps, sides and 3 large steaks for the main event! Mac&cheese croquettes definitely stood out for apps. For sides, Kim chi fried rice was a great. The mashed potatoes were unanimously voted as one of the best we all have had, but we also agreed it was likely because we were probably eating mashed butter with a hint of potatoes (but hey, a little gluttony feels good). Japanese bread was mind blowingly delicious. Then there were the steaks... cooked to perfection. Not sure the sauce that was served with them, but it was unique, didn't overwhelm the steak, and delectable. Wrapped up with creme Brule, the perfect dessert to round out the meal. Our server was The MAN. Jived with our bachelor party group, hilarious, and hyped up the boys for a good time. All the food I raved about were recommendations from him, but I especially appreciated him helping us with the perfect amount of food for the table. From dish changes and plate presentations, the food runners elevated the dining experience. The only slight blemish on the night was a lady in a flower dress (manager maybe?). She was a bit abrasive, darted a few dirty looks at us, and attitude was apparent to our entire group... a stark contrast to everyone else that night. Nonetheless, didn't let it damper a great time! Perfect location and I loved the atmosphere. Starters were great, unique preparation of the hamachi and mussels. Beef tartare was an interesting preparation in between sandwich bread but tasted great! Not sure if I just got unlucky but the experience with the steak was subpar. I ordered the tenderloin and it was cooked medium rare as requested however I feel like the outsides were really burnt with a lot of salt. The salt overpowered the flavor in the steak and I'm not sure if you were supposed to order one of the 9 dollar sauces to account for that but regardless I don't think a nice steak should have salt being the only flavor. Additionally my friend ordered the sirloin and they precut the steak which personally I think is unnecessary unless it's drizzled in some sauce for display but none of that and his steak was also very salty as well. Willing to give the place another shot and try the A5 Wagyu steak since that's what the place is named after and see if it changes my mind. Proper steak house downtown with tons of flare. Esthetically pleasing and inviting sitting promptly on the corner block. Staff was on top of their game and kept us informed during the dinner rush. Bartenders were friendly and never missed a beat. Ceasar salad is definitely unique and satisfying. The croutons are crispy and airy. Poached egg is an interesting addition. Steak was mouth watering as expected. I loved the crispy ends they add on with the thin cuts. The mashed potatoes are whipped and buttered into perfection. Been here twice as a party of two and feel compelled to leave a review. The food is great, the cocktails are good but the service is pretty bad. Very poor timing on food service and the servers just chatted with each other instead of checking in with their tables most of the meal. The entire experience with lots of great food had a shadow over it because of the poor service and timing. After having a baby I haven't been able to go out much. This was one of the first place my husband and I were able to go out to in a while. I was actually very disappointed... Our waiter was very nice but we barely saw him. If there's an automatic 20% tip that is charged to your bill I would want attentive service. We sat down, didn't get water, no one came to our table for a good 10-15 min. We had to ask our waiter for our drinks a couple times, our sauces a few times, we had to wave down the water boy (because our server was no where to be found) to ask for a dessert menu and some shareable plates. Again waiter was nice, but not very attentive. Food was okay, was not impressed by our burnt milk bread. Not sure if you can see in the photos but I don't think that's how Japanese milk bread is suppose to be? Also the dessert was.....ehh we had some chocolate cake, probably the size of my baby's hand, the topping on the ice cream/cake was not my favorite.... Beautiful space really nice service and the food is right. We came for happy hour which is generous and really goood. Their happy Hour is daily from 3-530 at the bar. They have a nice happy hour food menu and a nice happy hour drink menu with very fair prices. The decor is lovely, in an old historic building downtown with stained glass windows. The happy hour bites were really good. The popcorn was spicy and fresh and had shaved cheese on top, more please! The goat cheese salad with pistachios was refreshing and crisp and had a lovely tangy vinaigrette. And the fried Mac and cheese was nice and crispy outside and creamy and delicious inside. There have been a couple other restaurants but now it's A5. They did a nice job decorating. Bar is nice. Cool place. Food is fantastic. Started with the Char Siu Bacon. Loved it. Fatty and delicious. Mexican Shrimp cocktail was very good but not amazing. Next we had this Bulgogi lettuce wrap type thing. Can't remember what they call it but it had meat, sauce, kimchi and pickled garlic. You make your own lettuce wraps like Korean Bbq. Awesome stuff. Then for main course we had a NY Strip and a Filet. Both were terrific. Top notch. Kimchi fried rice and the cabbage were great sides. We took my husband here for his birthday/Father's Day. It was incredible. The oysters were fresh and perfect. We had the steak tartar and braised artichoke for apps, the lettuce wraps, a tenderloin with bordelaise, the special wagyu flat iron x 2, 1 with the butter poached lobster and the other with the bone marrow. Also the bacon kimchi fried rice and whipped potatoes for sides. For desert we had the pot de crème. Everything was so delicious and we have some amazing leftovers for tomorrow! It was insanely good. Johnny, our waiter, was on top of everything and we appreciate his stellar service. I ran into a long time friend, Mark, who is a manager I believe and it was wonderful to run into him. He has been a part of building many different concepts here in Colorado and last Vegas for decades and they're always a huge success with his leadership. My fiancé took me here during our trip from NY to Denver for my birthday dinner on August 29th approx 6pm. Our waiter went above and beyond to make it one of the best dinners we have ever had. Besides the wonderful service, the food was amazing. We both had the Bavette which is a 10oz TX wagyu. It was delicious- it was slightly over seasoned but still absolutely to die for. We also shared a side of the whipped potatoes which were as perfect as they sound. The drinks were delicious and he even brought us out a desert. The ambiance made me feel very comfortable- I didn't feel over or under dressed and, although the grown men sitting directly next to us were acting like obnoxious children, I still felt so incredibly special thanks to our waiter and will definitely come here next time we are visiting. However, I felt like it was lacking some flavor. I personally would not recommend the hamachi, the fish was extremely fresh. However, the seasoning and pairing was weird to me! Also another very weird thing... my husband and I sat at the bar for happy hour and it was just the two of us. But when we got the bill there was a 20% service charge on it already. I did not enjoy my experience here at all, extremely overpriced for very mediocre food, small servings and a not too friendly waiter. Our table of 4 spent over $300 and I left extremely disappointed and hungry. The pork belly appetizer was by far my least favorites it was soggy, very fishy tasting and not at all appetizing. The salad was extremely acidic and had no proper balance so it just burnt your tongue. The most frustrating part of the whole meal was the 20% service charge. Absolutely ridiculous and even more ridiculous to have the pushy waitress inform me that she also expects her full 20% tip on top of it. So I spent an extra $50 on tipping alone. Milk bread rolls were buttery, fluffy, and seems like they had a baking soda glaze on top that made it taste a little pretzel like. It reminded me of auntie Anne's in the best way. Mac & cheese croquettes were good I just wished the sauce on the plate had some spice to it to add more complexity. Fries were great, umami dipping sauce was exactly as expected, great. Bavette steak was the star, great cook and cut of meet. Got the bone marrow and lobster too. Bone marrow was a bit cooled down by the time it was served so it wasn't as warm as we would've like it but flavor was there. Lobster was good but so tiny for the price that we wouldn't get again. The dessert dish we got was ok but the sesame toffee crumbles on top did not pair well with the rest of the flavors.
