Spouse and I visited Olive & Finch at the Union Station. I had modest expectations. I thought it would be an attractively designed hipster coffeehouse with uninspired food offered as an afterthought. I was pleased to be wrong!! The ambiance was indeed attractively designed, bright and open, not too loud even though we sat ourselves near the kitchen. We ordered from menus with our smart phones, and our drinks and food arrived promptly. I ordered the Shakshuka, a northern African dish of stewed tomatoes with feta cheese and spices served with warm crusty garlic bread. A perfectly poached egg was nestled on top, and the dish was accompanied by a side salad of baby lettuces dressed very sparingly in oil and vinegar. Now, ordinarily, for me more is more when it comes to condiments. But the way the salad was dressed allowed the flavors of the lettuces to come through, and its blend of tart and slightly bitter was the perfect foil to the shakshuka, which was hearty, delicious, and spicy indeed! The stew was a generous portion that could be easily shared if you ordered an extra side of garlic bread, which I did. I was lucky to be able to request it from an employee who came around to ask how our meal was. The overall experience was memorable in the best way. I'm already craving the Shakshuka! read more

I came for the happy hour charcuteries and the beets were holy crap delicious! And I don't like pickled beets, usually, (I love beets and I love pickles, but not together) but this must've been pickled by them in their own recipe and it was so good. Not the icky too sweet, too sour that I taste in others. The hummus also tasted very freshly made and was good, but they did not put anywhere near enough on the board. The ratio was so bad, it was like 1/4 cup of hummus and 8 triangles of pita, not to mention if you were to dip anything other than the pita in the hummus. It really needed like 3 to 4 times the amount of hummus I got. Then, they're weren't any vegetables to dip other than pickled beets. Something like carrots, celery, radish, cucumber, tomato... anything! The olives are a nice side bite, I love olives, but you need more veggies. The price for that was way overpriced and that was their "happy hour" deal, too. Ok, come on now! They also have some cocktails and wine for $5 - 6 for HH so, that is a good deal -- daily 3-5pm. The patio outside is pretty large. But, ps you not supposed to leave with your drink whether inside or outside. Terminal bar you can wander more on the inside. read more

The food was delicious. I tried the "Lyon". Piled high with smoked salmon, and served over a flavorful potato cake. The salad was the perfect contrast to add some brightness. The staff needs to realize when guests are inside and watch their volume and language, but it won't deter me from going back next time I'm in Denver. The bakery also looks amazing. I was visiting Denver and I had just got off the train from the airport. My boyfriend and I stopped inside union station to use the bathroom and he was hungry so we decided to eat lunch at Olive and Finch. It is located inside union station. The decor inside is modern. I think they play off the finch theme and they had bird cages for the lighting fixtures. There was a sign at the front saying to grab a menu and seat yourself. A server did not come over but there was a QR code to scan for the menu and to order on the table. After ordering, the food came out fairly quickly. They mostly have soup, sandwiches, and salads as part of their menu although they did have some Asian inspired dishes like the dan dan noodles. I saw on the menu that dan dan noodles were one of their signature dishes so I decided to try it. The dan dan noodles were okay and lacked a lot of flavor although they did work on the presentation of the dish which was visually appealing. My boyfriend ordered a salad which was better than my dish. The vegetables seemed fresh. They also have a cafe with caffeinated drinks and pastries. OMG this is THE BEST location! I love coming to Olive & Finch at Union Station, especially in the summer because they have THE BEST patio. It is dog friendly and Ziggy and I could just spend hours out here. They are good about keeping parts chaded with HUGE umbrellas and it is fun to people watch and enjoy the food. They even have more dinner-like dishes on the menu at this location which I love. Favorites: - The High Five AM Sammy is a classic and perfectly exectued breakfast sandwich that doesn't disappoint. - The Fattoush salad is not what you expect if you are used to going to greek restaurants, but it is amazingggg with a citrusy dressing and all the fixins. So refreshing and yummy. - The Woody Wood sammy is divine. With turkey, bacon, smashed avocado, tomato, lettuce, swiss cheese, cranberry relish, tarragon aioli - which absolutely kills it. This should be on every sandwich, ever! - The French Onion soup - they nail this one. 10/10 - The Dan Dan Noodles - which are heavier and more dinner centric but yum! Chinese wheat noodles, spicy pork or crispy tofu, mushrooms, kale, cucumbers, roasted peanuts, sesame, sichuan peppercorns, scallions. The sign said "grab a menu and seat yourself and a server will come to you" well, we sat ourselves down at the outdoor patio with menus and 30 minutes later we had to go in and place our order at the counter because no one ever came to us. Afterwards, the food came out and it was decent. I ordered the salad with salmon and I thought it just was a bit too fishy for my liking. But the salad had fresh ingredients and tasty dressing. When choosing a restaurant within Union Station for lunch, my friend and I were drawn in by O&F's beautiful decor, bright natural lighting, and slightly tucked away location. We thought the prices on the menu seemed fair, but were surprised at how quickly all of the taxes and services fees added up. My $19 salad ($16 with $3 added chicken) quickly shot up to just below $25, pre tip. The portion sizes of the meals are huge, though, and the quality is certainly there. I really enjoyed our lunch at Olive & Finch when visiting downtown Denver. The location is nice as it's connected to Union Station and the outdoor seating is along the station's plaza. When we arrived through the indoor entrance (inside Union Station), we were greeted by staff who explained a couple of things. We could either order at the counter or go straight to finding a seat, and then ordering from the QR code. All the staff we encountered were very friendly. We picked a high top table outside along the plaza and it was also covered by an awning, which was nice as it was overcast. Several other tables had umbrellas too. We scanned the code and then had the difficult task of deciding what to order because so many items looked great. Their menu has a wide variety of options. While I wasn't hungry enough beyond the Cubano sandwich I ordered, I also ordered the Chicken Matzo Ball Soup because I hadn't had that in quite awhile (it was great). There were a couple of items my wife tried to order that showed up as Out Of Stock when selected, which to mean speaks to the likely freshness of the menu. What a fantastic lunch at the new Olive & Finch at DCPA! Our group of six was easily accommodated -- we ordered from a scanned phone app, and everything was beautifully delivered right to the table. Super convenient, and the staff was so friendly. I went to Olive & Finch because I enjoy the Little Finch and they are owned by the same folks. Not run exactly the same! First, I got a stale and hard crousant. Then, I wanted to pay for the crousant and a black hot tea which the total on the menu was $8.00. By the time I was done paying for this fee and that fee, I had spent over $10.00! There is an 8.8% city of Denver Tax...then a 7.5 % addition fee so they can pay their baristas fairly, and then there is a 3.5% Union Plaza charge. That extra 11% is called the cost of doing business! They should just suck it up, add and across 10% per item so that the crousants cost $4.50 and the Hot Tea cost about the same and then they wouldn't have to tell the customer why there is 20% added to the bill on top of a tip if the customer wants that! It seems Olive & Finch think I am not an intelligent person and so they charge me this fee and that fee instead of giving their workers a raise. I don't know when a good tip went up from 15% to 20% (which is a 33% increase in tipping "normally") but now they are implementing other fees, like 7.5% and 3.5% which means if I give the normal 20%, I am now tipping over 30% on my check. Stop taking dividends out of the complany, come back to work for a living and do think all customers are ignorant. I won't be back to Olive & Finch as long as they have that 10% fee to pay their workers fairly! read more

I'll start with the food. The steak frites was good--reasonable sized portion of steak that was tender and well seasoned. The Goddess salad was hugely disappointing unless you like eating an entire cucumber or two at a time. There was very little avocado, a few slices of radish, and a teaspoon or two of capers that were not crispy as advertised. The dressing was bland.
