I came home this afternoon to a massive swarm of bees coming in and out of the vents in my roof. See pic. I previously noticed a few scattered bees loitering around the same area for the previous week, and a few had made their way into my kid's bathroom, but didn't think much of it. We had about 20,000 unexpected guests move into our attic. Marcos and Bella came out and removed them for us and educated my kids and me in the process. It was fascinating. They had to cut into our master bedroom ceiling but patched it nicely so we could have the drywall repaired later. I found a half dozen bees in my kitchenand could hear bees in my kitchen vent over the stove, so I looked at the vent outside of my house and saw bees flying in and out of it. I called my large/contracted pest control company to come out and help me with it and they gave me a non-committal answer as to when they would help. I actually called a couple of other bee removal companies who came to look at my problem but they were not as caring, diligent and willing to educate me like Sergio was. I saw a lot of bees swarming around my attic vent holes on the second story and around my laundry vent. I noticed they be swarm last Saturday on the 3rd. They only stayed for an hour or two. But I had called several bee companies and I left voicemails asking for them to come out. A friend of mine told me that it was probably just bees looking for a new home. Unfortunately the bees came back everyday and started nesting on a solar light. A little over a year ago we had a beehive in a column in our back yard. Sergio came out and removed it quickly. They had to cut into the column to remove it and patched the location. At first, it was just one bee in our bathroom. The next day another bee got in. On the third day (a Sunday), there were several bees in the bathroom. Some dead and some flying around. We removed them and I contacted 2 companies on Yelp. One did not reply and this one asked me to call on Monday to schedule an estimate. On Monday morning (yesterday), as I was getting ready to leave for a minor surgical procedure, several bees were coming into the bathroom while I was getting ready. I called them and arranged for them to come while I was gone. My adult son would be here and I also gave them the number for my husband. We were able to meet with the tech later. The bees were getting in through a hole in the outside wall that a contractor had left open. He used a camera to inspect that area. He said he couldn't locate a queen and most likely the bees were just "scouting" for a place to nest. He sealed where they were coming in from the outside, sealed the bathroom light fixture and used smoke to ensure they were gone. The next day, we saw bees coming in from an area just outside the bathroom where they originally came in. Sergio, the owner, came by and said they normally wouldn't cover this under the warranty but he took care of it. He sealed the new entry point and also sealed an area where our A/C conduit entered the attic. In addition, he sealed a bronze exhaust fan and did such a good job of it that we could barely tell where it was done. There was some initial confusion about what is included in their price and what is covered in the warranty.
