3.5 stars? Was looking for a place in Fidi that could do a quick job for a good price. That's basically what I got. AA Nails is very basic but gets the job done. It's $24 for a regular mani pedi combo. They'll offer you a massage for 20 min, but then the combo price goes up to $42. They also try to upsell the "spa pedi" or callus removals ($9 more). I declined all of them except I did get the quick dry top coat for my toes and fingernails. It's $1 for each, so I paid $2 extra. Total was $26, and I paid/tipped in cash, which they prefer. I think if you pay with card they'll charge you slightly more. Now for service: When I first got there around 6:30pm on a Wednesday after work, the entire place was completely packed. There are about 6 pedi stations and 8 nail stations, however once I had picked out my colors, one person had left and they sat me immediately. She did a decent job with my pedi but was very very fast - kind of didn't feel relaxing at all and just quickly rubbed the products on me. For my mani, she was going to move me to a nail station but they were all full, so she just did my nails while I was in the same pedi chair. Okay but once again so so quick - basically file and paint with barely any relaxation/pampering aspect. I was done with both in 30 min flat. I guess that's what I was paying for though! They do ask if you want to pay before so you don't mess up your nails by grabbing your wallet. I'm fine with that and tipping before they actually finish my nails, but I think some may feel more weird about that. My main critique would be my lady's less friendly nature, especially when I didn't take any of her upsell offers. Would not recommend. I went to get my acrylics removed and was shocked when the technician began trying to "pop" them off using an old dirty metro card. This is not only unsanitary, but since my acrylics were securely glued to my nails, it was incredibly painful as well. I expressed discomfort, and she began using a combination of the metro card and clippers, which lead to thick and sharp pieces of acrylic nail flying into my face and hair. One nail was not budging, and the force that she used with the metro card literally made my eyes well with tears as I continued to express discomfort. I understand the service is only $10 and I am not a high paying customer, but I still believe that I should have been treated with respect like everyone's else. during the removal she kept on insisting I get a massage and worded it funny to where you are confused on the pricing. I got a 10 minute massage for 10 dollars which I was fine with but when she insisted again she made it seem like an additional five was free instead of $5. it wasn't until I ask before she started that she would say it was five dollars. Second during the process when she was taking off the acrylic she cut my pinky to the point where it was almost bleeding which made it aggravated every time I had to dip it in the acetone. then when I was getting ready to pay she tells me then that it's only cash and forced me to use their ATM even though they have a working card machine. she said it was $20 so I took out exactly $20 not wanting to tip because it was such a small service, plus she cut me, plus she was talking about me during the process to her coworker. when I handed her the 20 she gave me a dirty look and pressured and insisted I give her a tip. when I told her I didn't take enough out of the ATM machine, she then allowed me to use my debit card in the regular card reader that doesn't add a fee onto your card. on my way out I asked for a Band-Aid and she wouldn't even give me that. overall a bad experience I'm glad I only came here to get an acrylic remover in not nothing else. This salon is my regular. They do a wonderful job with manicures, how manicurists file/shape names is a huge deal to me and the girls at AA Nails just get it right. Some other salons have barely filed the sides of my nails and I go home with an expensive manicure but an inevitable tear within a day or two which ruins the whole thing. At AA the gel manicures act exactly how gel manicures should, rich colors that do not chip and won't come off until your next visit. I've worn mine for a whole month which by that point I need a fresh manicure just because of my nail growth. Pedicures are good here, I get the regular option. Again paint and filing are 5 stars. Massages and scrub downs (callous rock) are around 3. Still, the end result is always great. Also massages in chairs here are wonderful. Great package deals for combos of services. It was so crowded, they tried to do my mani in a massage chair in the back. 2. My technician then grabbed a box of tools from another technician that had just finished up a pedi. I called her out and asked if the tools were dirty, and she admitted it and brought them to the sanitizer. 3. My cuticle was bleeding - she nicked it pretty bad. 4. Angela is my nail technician and I've only let one other person do my services (Lina). I normally get a shellac manicure and regular pedicure (with callus remover occasionally). I also get a 20 min chair massage every now and then. My first visit here was about 6 months ago and they were cleaning the place top to bottom! Won't be coming here again this is the second time in a row I've had a really bad experience. The technicians keep changing like revolving doors and you rarely see the same one twice now. Anyways I had an appointment at 1:15 and had to wait about five minutes before the nightmare began. The manicurist seemed very new and could barely communicate then about 5 minutes into the pedicure she clipped the skin at bottom of my big toe when she was cutting my cuticles. I yelped and she sprung up and disappeared... A minute later she comes back and without telling me dosed the cut in antiseptic. It stung so badly I snapped at her to please not do that. No apology and no recognition of the incident. My toe was bleeding but she painted the nail anyway then put the brush back in the bottle and didn't even wipe it off! I asked her if she was going to throw it away after but she couldn't understand me. I was very uncomfortable the rest of the pedicure and when it finally came time for the manicure there were no seats available. The manager asked me to dry first but the foot dryers weren't working. The manager then let two walk-ins in front of me before she remembered I was there and offered me a chair at the manicure station. In the end my toes had over an hour to dry but almost every single one was smudged when I got back to my office across the street. I ended up having to remove the polish myself it looked so bad. Note that was after sitting under the dryer and wrapping them in plastic. The whole process took over an hour and a half before I finally sat down at the dryer. A manager finally came over to ask if I was OK and I explained what happened and her response was "OK sorry we were just busy come again." Never addressed the sanitation concern or the issue with my cut. I'm seriously considering calling the board of health and human services they need to learn some proper sanitation techniques at minimum and I doubt now that their all even licensed. Scary experience and very upsetting please beware. I hope I don't get an infection but will update if I do. read more

For the pedicure, She attempted to paint over what was still on and just fix the cracks. She was also hurting me the entire time, yanking my arms, and would not stop hurting me even though I told her she was over ten times, I started bleeding. When she finished, she took me to the cashier so I would pay, even though she knew I came in to fix my gel manicure and pedicure that came off after 5 days. If I could give half stars I would make this a 3.5. Pros: Made an appointment and was taken right when I arrived. My pedicure felt very nice and the massage was lovely. I was getting a manicure too and they started working on my nails right away. It was great and very time efficient to have it all done at once. Customer service is very good. They are friendly and accommodating. They seem to be pretty clean. Their instruments go into and out of ultraviolet light and the foot tubs get covered with a plastic bag which is amazing!! Cons: They do their best to talk you into up sells and longer massages which feels a bit pushy but the massage was great so whatever! The actual polish job was a bit sloppy. The toes were a lot on my cuticles and the nails, shellac French, were pretty bad. I had to come back the next day to have them fix my tips. I've gone to this place two times for my nails, and I don't think that I will be returning. I really liked how this place is about 15 steps away from my apartment and that they are open seven days a week. But there are a lot of cons. 1) They don't really honor appointments. I don't even think they write them down. 2) The place is small. So when they are busy, its cramped. I got bumped while getting a fill in several times by another employee trying to pass by me. This is bad for many reasons. One being the risk of being cut by the tools they use to trim cuticles or buff the acrylic. 3) They don't seem to use new equipment. Its actually pretty gross. When I went in for a polish change a couple days ago, they pulled out an already folded paper towel to weave between my toes instead of a toe separator. And I can't not assume that it has already been used. And WHEREEEEE DO THEY DO THAT AT? Who doesn't have toe separators? 4) They charge $5 to replace each acrylic nail. And both times that I have gone, they found a nail or two that needed replacing. *rolls eyes* 5) Their prices don't already include tax. I'm over this place. I really wanted to make this work. They have a punch card! But I will not be using it again. If anyone would like mine (it has two "punches"), let me know and I can send it through snail mail. read more

The shop looked clean and organized, they seated me right away, and although they rotated in three different technicians (polish removal and shaping) the girl who actually painted my nails was quick and did a very good job. They gave me three coats and from the looks of it, I believe it will stay put (when they go up over the cuticle, they peel). Glamorous, this place is not. But it's great for emergency nail jobs. I came here a few days before a wedding. I hadn't gotten gel done in a really long time because my nails were turning yellow and were also very weak. I wanted to get a regular mani but got talked into getting shellac. I wasn't crazy about the fact that they only had one UV lamp that had a timer because I had to make sure it was on and if I'm paying for a service I don't want to do any work.
