The women in the salon are very pleasant and friendly but also a little aggressive lol (beware because they'll try to scam you in to paying an extra $10 for a massage they already started on you, extra money for a quick dry coat, etc.) It's all a part their hustle but overall my experience was great. I'm giving this place 4 stars, only because Jessica, did very good, neat job with my SNS manicure. I went to this salon out of convenience, it is across the street from my workplace. I did call prior to going in and was told I "can come right in". However, it was very very crowded when I arrived. They had me sit on one of the chairs that are used for pedicures while I soaked off my old polish/SNS powder. Here is the part I did NOT like. I was very bothered by their customer service skills. I have NO PROBLEM, sitting and waiting around while my polish is soaking off, but I was asked repeated times if I want a 10 minute massage to "kill time". I said no thank you, over and over and was told it will take 20 minutes to soak off to just do a massage! At this point, I was very irritated and services should not be forced repeated times if a customer politely refused the first time. Yes, I evidentially did the massage. Once more, I am giving the rating I am, based solely on the work Jessica did. My nails really did turn out nice and she took her time. Customer service skills? Not so much. There is a big difference between the level of service and the cleanliness of this place. The service is good-but My God is this place unkept. The owner clearly doesn't spend money to maintain this place- the chairs are torn and desperately need to be replaced-see picture for reference. The entire wall is plastered with an insane number of different signs of services and prices- it's extremely confusing and looks ghetto. Some are written in hand, some are printed and the lone, large laminated price list becomes basically irrelevant. There are 2 different prices listed for the same service. When I sat down in the pedicure chair I noticed that the floor was filthy, and my chair had huge stains. I started putting on my shoes to leave, when a worker rushed over to me and reassured me "she's coming right over". The woman then put a plastic covering on the entire tub, easing my concerns about getting an infection, and I decided to stay. They seem to have some awareness of how unkept the place is. Now on to the good news. I got a pedicure with callus removal and quick dry- and Luna was sweet and did a great job. She put a lot of effort into the callus removal, and you could tell she really cared about the quality of the pedicure. When I sat down for drying-one of my toes got smudged. This was subtle but Luna noticed and immediately fixed it. She was also very kind and cared about my comfort. I gave her a good tip and she gave me a brief massage afterwards. Funny, I've always avoided this spot because of so-so reviews, and it always looks too crowded. Well I went in today, and am delighted with the results. Not only was I taken quickly (without appointment) in spite of the place being packed, my technician gave me the fastest, yet most meticulous, gel manicure ever. I'm very picky about application -- I hate it when I see little traces of clear base or topcoat on my cuticles -- and the job she did, even though it was fast, was perfect. Add to that, I hadn't had a manicure in a month, so my cuticles were a mess... they look great now. This isn't a fancy place, but I'll be coming back. I normally do not leave reviews but had such a bad experience. Went in for a color gel manicure, the colors I picked did not match the ones that the technician brought to me. When she was taking off the gel color I had, she did not wait long enough for the gel to come off and was taking layers off my nails. They did not even take off all of the gel. Looking at the tools and the dish they were in, there was dead skin and nail clippings from other people. I ended up just getting a regular manicure because I needed to get out of there. She did not put a base coat on my nails and charged me for a quick dry top coat but it was just a regular top coat. Will never go back and recommend the NYC Health Department do a check because it is definitely not up to code. read more

I guess you get what you pay for in this area. My $9 manicure was cheap in comparison to this area, but the technician did a bad job. My cuticles were cut in a way that there uneven and rough in some areas, and the paint job has so many mistakes. I feel like I could have painted them better myself. My first time here Bc I recently moved to the area but I've never had a more aggressive miserable mani pedi before. The lady literally made every part of the process physically painful and she also had extremely long sharp nails that dug into my skin anytime she touched me. When she filed my bails she was filing my skin Bc she wasn't paying attention. She was also very rude and mumbled/ grunted every question or answer. It took like 25 extra min because she kept staring anywhere but my nails or toes so that she would miss frequently. Came here the other day instead of my regular salon because I was running an errand on Pine St. Never again!!!! Like others have mentioned, this place is dirty. Just gross. Stuff everywhere, the tools look kind of gross, the stations are covered in grime. I sit down at pedi station- no one offers to take my jacket so I drape it over the arm of the chair. The employees are going into a towel warmer next to me during my pedi- I get up and my jacket is wet. I didn't see this happening, but perhaps the employees could've pointed it out. The pedicure- the person doing my pedicure somehow cut my toe right below my nail. Towards the end of the pedicure, she's wiping nails with nail polish remover and getting it in this cut. It burns! I point it out and tell her to leave it alone. She nods and then does it two more times!!!!! The manicure is a similar experience- they give me a Bowl to soak my cuticles in and the manicurist keeps rinsing her hands off in the bowl before I'm asked to dip mine. Gross. I pay for quick dry which wasn't really quick dry. I feel like they reuse the flip flops as mine were dirty. I came in around 11 on a weekday so I expected the noon hour to bring in a bunch of people on their lunch break and I was right. It's not nice inside, I actually cringed when I put my feet in the pedicure tube. I watched TWO women walk in and look around and walk out. They're ghetto. I don't understand how this place has as many stars as it did, which is why I decided to give it a try. Went in for a gel manicure at about 1:45, after the lunch rush. They managed to do a simultaneous gel mani/gel pedi (I had to be back at work in the quick side). But it wasn't rushed, shoddy work as has been my experience at other places when they try to do both at once. Attention to detail was excellent, and they are very helpful. I asked about a specific brand of gel and they were happy to explain the differences, as well as find the specific color I wanted (based off of a Pinterest photo). When you see a sign for a $20 man Mani and Pedi combo, especially in the financial district, you get skeptical. Well, I jumped in with a coworker, and IMHO, you get what you past for. The pedicure was painful as "LiLi" was cutting my cuticles raw, and she scraped around the edges like she was building a moat. Also, she used a handheld sander (don't know if there's a technical name for it) but she took it from and threw it back into a drawer... is that safe/sanitary? She got a flinch outta me and I got the death Stare in return. When I declined the offer for the upgraded ten minute massage and quick dry polish, she seemed immediately uninterested in the service she was providing, spraying the toner (?) On my legs but looking away and hitting the chair instead. She also put the scrub on my legs buy have a weak ten second riub (not massage) and didn't wash off the scrub gel fully (because she wasn't looking). It was crazy busy there at 2 pm, I don't fault them for that, business is business. She did my Mani in the pedicure chair (very common) but similar weak hand massage that lasted all of five seconds, and left logon on my arms. She pushed back my cuticles the continued to top them apart. They look they were done by my three year old. I went in at the same time as my coworker, and in the time it took her to get her Mani/pedi done, "LiLi" finished me and another client, so it seems like speed is her thing. If that's what your looking for, look for her. Otherwise, sell someone else there (I heard more than one client asking for "Coco"). Edit: I saw my co-worker a few days later, and her manicure was completely gone. She had paid extra for quick dry, but unfortunately the polish lasted less than 48 hrs. read more

ACRYLIC NAILS STAY AWAY! These people may welcome you with a big smile and call you ''honey'' all the time but they're really bad at their jobs! The lady that did my hands was just terrible. I even started filing my OWN NAILS because she couldn't get a simple ALMOND shape right? That's the EASIEST shape of nails! Good grief! If I let her do it all on her own I would've gone home with way too thick, fake looking, UNEVEN acrylic nails! On top of that, she CUT INTO MY FINGERS with the drill. Not one... not two... BUT THREE F'ING times! Excuse my French! This wound, similar to a serious paper cut, needed 3 days to heal! The lady that did my pedicure wasn't bad but again, didn't pay attention to a blister I had on my toe (it was a very visible, red blister) and only started being careful after I screamed because of the scrub going into my open blister! Now- I haven't even had these nails for 3 days and they're starting to break. They make the acrylics in a way that they're not durable and break by the smallest little bump. CLEARLY this place is a complete AVOID for anyone that wants a simple, lasting acrylic nails mani/pedi. Also very expensive for the extremely low standard and 'chinatown' feel to what they call a 'spa'. read more

I called early in the day to schedule an appointment for an acrylic fill. I told the girl on the phone I had a half hour (on my lunch break) and asked if that would be enough time. She insured me it would be fine. I got there a few minutes early but there weren't any chairs available so I had to wait. I was seated by my appointment time (12:45pm). She had to set up, then she began. Everything was fine until she started applying the acrylic. She was GLOBBING this stuff on. I went to cosmetology school where we had brief training in nail services and it looked like this was her first time ever doing a fill. I mentioned that it was way too thick and she said "It's okay, I'll file it off". I reminded her I didn't have a lot of time but she still continued to glob this stuff on. No attempt to shape it, just piled it on thick. I've been getting my nails done for years and never have I ever experienced anything like this before. It was 1:15pm and she was still applying the acrylic. She used 4 different drill heads. Went over each nail 4 times. I was out the door at 1:40pm. I was 10 minutes late returning from my lunch. It took her an hour to do the fill. No time for polish or anything like that. I will admit my nails weren't in the best shape. They were grown out for 4 weeks but my normal nail girl at my local salon would have been done with EVERYTHING in 30 mins flat. Also, on top of everything, I was charged $24 for a fill when it was advertised for $20. I think she mentioned something about a cut down and a repair? There were two MINOR repairs CAUSED by her cutting them down with a nail clipper. The acrylic on the tips of my nails cracked off while she was cutting them. I have a hard time believing I would be charged for damage she caused. I didn't have any time to argue about it. I scrounged in my purse for the additional $ (I don't normally carry cash) and ran out the door. Huge mistake trying to squeeze this in on my lunch. I literally found myself in the chair today, questioning whether or not I should ask the tech if she actually knew how to paint in straight lines. I have been two this salon twice, once for a gel pedicure and another time for a gel manicure. I went to this salon because it is close to my office, but the convenience definitely isn't worth it. I felt rushed from the minute I walked in and I could tell other customers were being treated the same way. I must say, I have no complaints about the pedicure I received. It was quick enough to get done during lunch and still came out just as good as any other pedicure. My gel manicure is why I now have an issue with this salon. I got my manicure on Thursday and by the time I walked out I noticed many bumps in the polish. The paint was OVER my cuticles on some of my nails. The chipping began the next day. By Monday (4 days after my GEL manicure), all of my fingers were chipped so I had to remove the gel. Usually, removing gel polish is no easy feat, but this time around, each nail came off in one perfect piece with no damage to my nails. I feel like this means that the gel was applied incorrectly. Such a waste of $30. Will not be going back to this salon, would rather walk further for good service and a lasting manicure. read more

I live down the street and have been coming here regularly for a year now. I have tried many nail places in NYC, but this is the best one I have ever been to in the 6 years I have been in the city. AA Nails really take their time with customers, making sure that everything is perfect, even willing to stay after hours for customers. I always get a gel manicure and there is no chipping for weeks. The only reason I go back is when my nails get too long, but never because of a chip. Regular manicure and pedicures last really long as well. Massages are also great. I even bring my friends here regularly. I think that this place provides really good service for a great price. Lots of package deals for multiple services. However, when moving to the Financial District I discovered AA Nails and I love them! Their prices are less expensive however this does not mean the quality of work is decreased. Although the space is smaller the salon is clean, and every employee truly spends time on each customer when giving a mani/pedi (this is important because many salons rush you). They have the gel mani + pedi special for $43.00, which is an excellent price seeing as many other salons charge $60+.
