Sometimes when you see red flags from the start, follow your heart. Work: Transfer plates from nj to ca 1. Got incorrect information from the aaa rep that they do license plates transfer on saturdays. 2. Went in person they weren't able to pull up the information from their North jersey aaa club and asked me to buy california membership. Which I did as I had taken half day off from work and didn't wanted to spend the rest of the day trying to get the license plate transferred. 3. I went to register my car when the told me that my registration was suspended for lack of insurance. I was currently insured but I never paid the reinstatement fee to the dmv(my fault, not theirs) I was told to pay the DMV fee and record the confirmation number. I did exactly that and returned only to be told that the DMV has no record of it. I offer the confirmation number to no avail. I was lied to and not given my current tags. read more

I know it sounds funny but i had no idea that you can take care of DMV related issues in a AAA branch. it saved me so much time and energy I was in and out in not time and took care of everything in one go. normally I find myself needing to sit in the DMV for hours and the best part is that they have much better customer service and the staff are much more polite and understanding. read more

Horrible service. My wife who is a member, came there to help me pay for my DMV registration renewal. Since she is the member, but my car's title does not have her name on it, the lady who helped her said "your sticker will be mailed to the address in the DMV record after you pay here". My wife cut them the check for the amount. More than 2 months later, I still have not received anything in the mail like that lady said. I called AAA Newark Branch many time, and can only get to the answering machine. Called DMV and found out: AAA cashed my wife's check, post the money to the DMV and that's it. They SHOULD HAVE informed the DMV that sticker has not been issued and the DMV needs to mail one to me. Someone at this AAA dropped the ball. Today I finally get thru them over the phone. Their reply is simply like this: "Yes, the person who helped your wife did not complete this job. But there's nothing we can do for you now since you are not a member. We can help you re-issue the sticker free of charge ONLY if you add yourself to your wife's account. If not, you will have to go back to the DMV to get the sticker!" Hell no!!! I told this girl on the line that we will switch membership name in a 2 months when our AAA renewal comes. For now, someone did not do their job right, took our money and left us hang. This branch refused to correct that, unless I am willing to cough out more $$$ to be their member. What a bunch of crooks these guys are. I will NEVER come to this location for any other services. I have had good service from AAA in general for my insurances/membership. I had misplaced my proof of liability auto insurance paperwork, and needed to make sure I had that on hand for a holiday roadtrip. The folks at the Newark office were cordial and very efficient. Went here last week to pick up maps for a Thanksgiving road trip. As a AAA member, you get free maps. Other great perks are that they have the DMV here and can help you with travel stuff, like planning vacations or renting cars or even buying insurance for cars you'll be renting and taking to Mexico ( but you can't rent a car there that'll be going into Mexico, just FYI). I waited about 5 minutes to be helped and someone there gave me a survey while I waited. The survey did yield a $5 Starbucks card, so not so bad. Highly recommend a AAA membership, not only to take advantage of this office but all sorts of perks on the road. read more

I've been with AAA for about 20 years, and it is used to be a good service that they provide few years back. (I've noticed as the years goes by the customer service is not as good as it was before were you can really say that they have a really good customer service. One thing good about AAA is that the convenience you are getting, such as Auto registration and another good thing about it is the discount that you can get to hotels as well as amusement parks. Other than that the issue here is customer satisfaction. In order to win back customer, AAA should improved more in term of customer care, undivided attention, respect no matter how a person dress up or looks.. This today this weekend, I went at AAA Newark branch because of the invitation that i got from a mail. If i visit their office for any quotes, such as Auto or Home and they will have a free gift. Sure enough i said OK, let's give it a try. I went there to get a ticket for amusement park. It was great good price. And i went to ask for a Quote. i was told to talk to the next available agent, she is a Hispanic and not that friendly approach to me. Maybe i just wear shirt and decent short. Maybe it looks like that i can't afford to get an insurance. Anyway, I spoke to her and I can already feel that it's not a warm welcome for me. I was expecting for her to say " How are you, how can i help you with. She was on the phone with another customer maybe and does not even apologize, I feel that's the kind of unprofessional. So I went there and asked for a Home insurance quotation She said that i have to bring the policy that i have currently, so it can be compare the pricing and coverage. I went home drive back with the policy and ended up she will just email me the quote. What a waste of my time. She has the access to the computer without showing any effort that she wants my business. She hasn't even created at a quotation and seems that she is not interested with my business to bring to AAA. I feel i was treated very unprofessional and because of that i don't like to go back with the company that have a bad customer service such as this especially Newark branch. I've been a long time loyal AAA premier level member and I am very disappointed with the poor service this place provides. I called to ask a basic question regarding registering my vehicle and the guy on the phone told me I'd have to come in because he can only answer it in person. Excuse me? He couldn't even answer a basic question. He wanted me to take time off work and drive there just to get a simple answer. Ended up calling dmv directly and they answered it right away. What kind of a lame place is this. Not only was the guy rude and very dry but he didnt seem to care one bit on the phone. I'm going to shop for a different insurance next time. I am trying to plan a trip to Southern California and lets just say this office has horrible response time. I called early last week in the morning when they opened . I was told someone would call me back. I waited at home all day for the call and no call back so I called back before they closed and ask about the message I left, I was told they would tell the rep. Rita to call me back. After waiting on hold I was then told that she would call me back on Monday so we set a time for 10am. I declined a few work meetings knowing I had this appt set. SHE NEVER CALLED !!! So I called back and let them know I didn't get a call back. AGAIN, I was told to hold and then was told that they would IM her and she would call me back. LUCKILY this was not urgent as I AM STILL WAITING FOR A CALL BACK !! I decided to give them a call again today and WELL... I got a voice mail asking me to leave my information and someone would call me back. UH YEAH don't think that would really happen so I hung up. I'm DONE with this place. I pay my yearly dues for this service and for what? pretty much NOTHING. very upset. I guess I'll try another AAA office in hopes their service is better. read more

WE have been with CSAAA for +30 yrs .in addition with Road service xtra fee. Last Sunday my SUV broke down, called for towing service 4PM waited and waited till 8PM and was told, "Sorry Sir we don't have anyone who can help you" "What the hek!!! , I said what is this 24/7 road service I paid extra for? They told me " Its a Sunday and don't have that many driver around" Is that my problem. They suggest for me to call someone else whos not connected to CSAAA ,then I get re-reimburse or call first thing Monday morning. , and that was 8PM. I'm very frustrated with wrong advertisement for 24/7 road service . Needed to find a place to stay that night and missed work the following day. I very recently got my license so I had never been to AAA before. It was pretty easy to find which says a lot because I have a pretty crappy sense of direction. There was a lot of parking and it's in a nice area. I was sort of expecting a similar experience to the kinds I've had at the DMV, but this was nothing like it! They were so friendly! As soon as a little line started to form a bunch of other employees came and helped. No one waited longer than 5 minutes. It was a very pleasant experience and I definintely suggest using AAA. All the times we have needed them they have been there and my dad pays for it, so you know it's reasonably priced! read more

Absolutely Terrible, Worst Auto Insurance Company I have ever had to deal with. I have been with AAA for 16 years, I never had a problem until now because I never had an accident. Now I cant get a hold of my claims adjuster, 2 weeks after the accident he still had not spoken with either of the other parties involved or their insurance companies, meanwhile I am paying a daily rate for a rental car while they sit on their butts and do nothing. I called the toll free number today and was forwarded 4 different times and not 1 person I spoke with wanted to even find out what my problem was, they just kept sending me to another branch or department. I have never dealt with such rude incompentent people. I even went into the office to speak with them in person and they said they couldnt help me there and handed me a phone to call the same # I have been calling already. read more

This review is for AAA in general, not specifically the office in Newark. I have a car policy and 2 homeowners policies with AAA and have been a AAA customer since 1989. I pay the car policy annually, every August. Time flies by, so I count on receiving a bill from them every year. I moved a couple years ago and called them, gave them my new address for the three policies. Yesterday I received a notice from the DMV saying I was uninsured so I called AAA last night. The Sales rep told me they mailed the car policy bill to my old address, the place I moved away from TWO years ago. He said I'd have to get a new policy now. And because it's a new policy, the premium will be $325 more than what I paid last year. Because they screwed up, I have to pay $325?? He transferred me to Customer Service and despite being a loyal customer since 1989 with three policies, they wouldn't budge. I said fine, connect me with Sales and I'll get the new policy, but I'll probably look around and change companies. She said okay. A minute later she came back on the line and said the Sales department refuses to sell me a policy because they know I'll cancel it. In other words, I might mess up their commission. UNBELIEVABLE. So, thanks to AAA, I have no car insurance!!! When I find a new insurance company to work with for my car, I'll move my homeowner's policies over as well. UPDATE: I called AAA this morning about my homeowner's policies. I mentioned that I'd called a couple years ago to change my address and it worked for all policies except the auto policy info wasn't updated, so now I'm uninsured. The Customer Service rep offered to transfer me to a Sales rep and I said don't bother, then explained what happened last night. The rep apologized, said that wasn't supposed to happen, and connected me with a Sales rep who was extremely apologetic. He looked up the calls last night and found the name of the Sales rep that refused to sell me a policy, and said he'd talk to his manager. So... the good Sales rep sold me a policy that's more than I paid last year but less than the quote the jerk gave me last night. At least a decent person got the commission. Because of today's positive experience, I'm changing my rating from 1 star to 3 stars. If the address mess had never happened, I'd give them 4 stars. And I'll shop around a bit for a better deal but I'll probably stick with them. Moral of the story is if you have to call AAA's Customer Service, do it during normal business hours. read more

We worked with Hector Luna at this office when we were trying to find affordable auto insurance. We looked at several low cost insurance companies but also saw bad reviews when it came to paying claims. Hector followed up with a phone call and emails. If you don't like pushy sales people, then you must talk to this guy. He is knowledgeable and will provide apples to apples comparisons. For us, working with someone who listens and can explain all the different coverages in layman's terms is extremely important. Would definitely recommend Hector to friends and family. read more

So we break down near Tracy. We have AAA. They send two individuals from this place and then after our car is on the flatbed we are told that we need to go pick up another broken down customer. (But only the car). Seriously!!!! We wait three hours in the heat. A flat bed and a Chevy pickup truck shows up. Guys training guy and this is what we get. Or we can wait some more and have the call re dispatched. Really. How about be honest with AAA and let them know you have one truck can't take us back home to San Francisco. Don't absorb all the calls so another company can get the call Are you really the only one contracted with AAA? Then the trainer has the nerve to tell us we can unload. Finally instead of us going to pick up a stranded motorist they decide to pick up a car only and when we asked where we were going the younger guy says he doesn't know!!!!did I mention it is now four hours later! read more

This review is for AAA's towing and customer service. I've recently had two incidents where I needed towing and a battery check/replacement. On both occurrences I was quoted a time for the tow truck to come and both times they were late over an hour. The most recent occurrence was a couple of days ago where I was stranded on the highway. I was quoted 30 minutes and it took them 2 hours and 45 minutes. I called them 4 separate times and each time I received a different response from AAA customer service. I was also hung up on when I asked to speak with a manager. The CHP told me AAA is known for their delays and many times customers have used another tow service because of AAA's unreliability. They were also suppose to credit me for the service call and when I called in they never had a record of it and filed a "Claim" for me which took another 2-3 customer agents to escalate it to a manager. Bottom line is AAA cannot support the volume of calls and are cutting corners with cost and it's apparent when you have to call them for an emergency. The customer service is one of the worst I've seen in a long time. They flat out lie to you about response times and in my case hang up on you when you ask for a manager. When you are stranded and need help the most, AAA is the last resort to call in my opinion. read more

They don't give any attitude for asking for hella maps. If you're a AAA member, you need to use your membership to the fullest. My brother passed away the first week in December 2018. His vehicle insurance was due at the end of December. I paid his insurance in full after asking if I would receive a refund if I did not elect to keep his vehicle, or if I elected to add it to my own insurance policy, and I was told that I could receive a refund. I went back to AAA in Newark on May 16, 2019, and asked them for a refund, at which time I was told by insurance agent that the policy would have to be cancelled in order to receive a refund, and my name wasn't on the policy, therefore they couldn't cancel it and issue a refund to me. I asked to speak to the manager of the insurance department and she told me the same thing. I reminded them that my brother was dead when I paid for his policy to cover his vehicle, and AAA was aware that he was the only person named on the policy when I paid his insurance. I returned to AAA the following week and asked to speak to the manager of the facility and was told that she wasn't available and was directed to Darryl. I provided Darryl with a copy of my brother's death certificate; a copy of the vehicle registration in my name, issued by the DMV (I received the pink slip a couple of weeks later); and I provided them with a receipt showing that I had paid for the insurance, in full, back in December. Darryl said that he would get back to me. After two weeks of no communication from Darryl I contacted Susan Valdares, the manager of the facility, by phone. I explained to Susan that I contacted her because neither the manager of the vehicle insurance department or Darryl was able to assist me in obtaining a refund. Susan told me to give her a couple of days and she would get back to me - that was during the first week of June and it is now the first week in October and I haven't heard a word from her. On Tuesday, September 24, I called Susan twice. The first time I was told that she was at lunch, so I left her a voice mail. After waiting two and a half hours and not receiving a call back I called a second time and was told that she was on a conference call and would call me back "in about 10 minutes." As of this writing, 8 days after the two calls on September 24th, I'm still waiting for Susan to returned my call. Kudos to Rebecca. Snez, and Lanae (not sure of spelling), three of the four people that I spoke to on the 24th while trying to make contact with Susan. They were professional, polite, and seemed sincere in wanting to assist me. read more

I have not really worked with an agent; however, my branch (both Hayward and Newark) have been so nice and fast with service. I do not think I have waited in a line for more than 10 minutes. All the people working there always have a smile and in occasions even laughter. I love walking into a business place and to hear the workers laughing. It gives me peace of mind because they like what they are doing. It makes me want to go in more than doing business by phone or on line. read more
