I have been a AAA member in a variety of states for over 20years now. (It seems each state has its own "club".) This current year will bey last. They have changed the policies so that you cannot utilize full benefits of your membership for the first 2-4 weeks of renewing/joining. Why? No idea. I cannot use what I've paid for???? Ridiculous! In addition, I was told I'd have my new membership card within 2 weeks. It's been 3 weeks - no card. I call to check status. Member "services" had NO idea if the card had even been mailed yet. This business is failing it's customers who are paying top dollar for services promised and not rendered. After more than 20 years, I'm done with them. read more

Horrible service. They made me wait for 5 hours to tow my car. The European lady on the phone was very rude when I inquired what was taking so long. After 5 hours of waiting, they sent the wrong tow truck that could not tow my car. Eventually, I had to call another private tow company to get the job done. I called and they said a 90 minute delay. 90 minutes later I called and the sai a other hour. They never did show up. Had to call a private company who came out in 20 minutes. Been a member for 7 years, and the last year was tough due to my husband's illness and needed to use the roadside assistance more than usual. Twice I had to leave my car at the side of the road due to them not showing up. And now my AAA membership just got canceled because of "disproportionate use of services". Apparently they only like members who purchase the other services they have (auto insurance, travel services, etc) or who pay the membership fee but don't actually utilize the membership. I initially called at 7:00 p.m. I spoke with a man who let me know that the towing company would text me with an ETA. The towing company never did text, but did call and ask where I was. The ETA on the app stated that they would arrive by 8:38 p.m. by 9:00 I called AAA and spoke with someone who said he would have them text me. After 10 minutes of not hearing from them I called again and this time I was told by a woman that there was no one dispatched to tow my car. The time was then 9:27 pm. That is completely unacceptable. I will not renew with AAA when it comes due. I would have better luck pushing my car and walking home than waiting three hours for no one. read more

My family member had a blow out on the interstate and immediately called AAA. It took 3.5 hours for a tow truck to finally get there. Each time we called to check on the status of the tow truck, AAA would tell us a specific ETA and then no one would show up or even contact us I'm canceling my membership and do not recommend. read more

My husband and I have been members since 2019. We as car owners have NEVER UTILIZED our membership for our cars directly. It was a pleasure being a member. However, we added our children to the plan and unfortunately they had a few more incidents than were allowed and sadly our membership was placed on the DO NOT RENEW LIST wow. So as a member and renewing member we pay all this money annually and as long as we don't have more than 3-4 issues within a year's time we good, but if you go over you get cancelled to never have the ability to renew again. A letter was sent so they claim back in March that I never got. I asked if the letter could be generated and mailed out again and I was told that it can only be printed once (where they do this at. Now mind you since 2019 this last year of membership got the most use. So the SUM UP to it all is you can pay or renew every month/every year AS LONG AS you don't use the service (wow). I got the tow call and I am 2 hours away from this customer and I looked at the time of the call and it was a day before the customer had waited almost two days... customer got angry at me... Very disappointing. My vehicle had broke down in the middle of an intersection. AAA told me to leave the vehicle, that my safety was more important. It took some nice residents of Orland Park to push my vehicle to the middle of the median for safety. AAA called and said that the driver was on the way. To put the key under the mat so that the driver could find it." I sat there from 6:13 pm. to 7:45pm. At 9:00 pm AAA called and asked me where was my vehicle. It was eventually found, the police had it towed to a nearby shop. read more

Not terrible service no service, for two days. Called Sunday night, told tow would be there by 9:00, no show. Called at 9:00 told tow would be there by 12:40 am, no show. Called Monday morning told the request was canceled, no reason given. Operator reopened the request and i was told i would hear back by noon, no call no tow. called back at 6:00pm told a customer service rep. would handle my case, i was also told i could contact a tow service directly which i did the next morning. The tow operator i called arrived within an hour. Never heard back from aaa. This is how they treat a 28 yr gold card member. I've been a member since 1983 and before that I was covered under my parents AAA plan. If I could give less than 1 star for their current service record, I would. In the past 3-5 this company has proven that they no longer care about service. I've been left on the side of the road multiple times and have friends relay equally horrible service. My LAST experience with them was the final straw. They left me stranded for 2+ hours before calling me to tell me they weren't sending a truck because I was not covered. They were incorrect. After providing them with the proof that I was covered, they said they would have a truck there in TWO more hours. Thankfully, I had already called the mechanic and tow truck driver so I got a tow right away due to my own initiative. Since I am traveling, I needed them again a few days later. This time they sent 3 drivers who refused to tow my RV, one complained about AAA the entire time before leaving me stranded, again. After EIGHT hours they called to tell me that I was not covered unless I paid another $100. Again, they are wrong, but I am so over them I refuse to give them another penny or minute of my time. I got my own tow truck and it was cheaper than their extortion fee of an extra $100. Save your money. Apply it to whatever services you may need down the road and call for yourself or check to see if your car insurance or credit card company offers this service. The worst service I have EVER had. I was first told someone would be there to help me within 2 hours. After 4 hours I called (after being on hold for 20 minutes) and told it would be another 1 1/2 hours. I then got a text saying someone was on the way. After waiting another 1/2 hour I again called (another 20 minutes on hold) and was told the company they sent wasn't going to come but never told AAA so they'd call someone else--another hour. Got a call from someone who said they were coming. Two men came, both smoking and not wearing masks (this is during the height of Covid). I asked them to please wear a mask as my husband is high risk--I even gave them 2 extras I keep in my car. They became belligerent and said "we ain't gonna help you" and drove off. Another 30 minutes on hold to be told it would now be 4-5 hours...this is now 6 hours since my original call. When I asked about a covid policy I got a very non answer--when pushed I was told wearing masks and other safety precautions are at the discretion of the drivers. This is beyond unconscionable. Not sure how this company earned it's rep or stays in business. Needless to say I am cancelling my membership a.s.a.p. Unbelievable---steer clear (no pun intended). read more

AAA Roadside Service put me and my family's life in danger. Very unorganized and unprofessional. If I could give them a 0 I would. They put my life in danger with poor service and highly unorganized customer service. My vehicle broke down - battery dead about 1 hour into my 9 hour drive. I have the Premiere service with AAA which includes battery service/replacement. When I called in the AAA dispatcher was very polite and helpful. She said that the service truck would have a battery and get me on my way after a few tests. When the service truck pulled up they said they don't do batteries and did not have one them. They sent me on my way after jump start and 1.5 hour delay. I knew that I could not drive After dark with the bad battery so I stopped purchased and installed a new battery. If that had been my wife or kids driving on an 8 hour trip it could have been a far worse outcome. They would have been broke after dark in a remote location. I can not trust AAA they put me and my family's life in jeopardy. When I called AAA to discuss all I received was the runaround and bombarded with reimbursement forms to return multiple times. I asked to speak with the AAA Misssouri leadership because I could never get a good response than disdain that they had to deal with a customer. I was basically told I wasn't important enough to get a call from their leadership because I am not important enough. WORD OF ADIVCE DONT USE AAA very unorganized and not with the $$ you spend. Please be aware that they will do everything to avoid helping you which is why you buy this membership in the first place. They told me 3 hours to change a flat tire, fortunately I found someone to help me. This is exactly what they want you to do. My friend was left 8 hours in need of a a tow. They will tell you to take a cab or an uber if you don't feel safe sitting with your car. No they will not pay for the cab or the uber. They pay the tow truck drivers so poorly that no one want to accept the work, and due to the pandemic like everything else there are shortages. They may have been more reliable years ago, but if you look at the more recent reviews you can see you should save your money or have a decent credit card where you can call a service yourself. read more

I called AAA after having a very long day and running out of gas. When I spoke with the operator I explained to him I was on a very small roadside median on a very busy highway and they said they would rush service to me that would be to my truck within 30 minutes. Three calls and two hours later I finally got gas barely feeling any of my limbs as I sat for two hours in 10° weather. If they would not have mislead me I could have tried other avenues or just had my wife bring gas from an hour away. I'm very fortunate I wasn't hit and didn't get frost bite I fear if this would have been someone with young children or elderly this could have been a very dangerous situation. At one point, a few years back, Triple AAA had a great reputation of reliability, punctuality, and great communication, I'm wondering what happened? Was this company brought out from another company and the customer service quality dropped? Not sure, but definitely there has been a noticeable drastic shift in customer service. My car wasn't starting because of a bad starter, so I called my local AAA because I am a AAA card member. Usually they are great and I have never had any problems (great people). This last time however, I had my car towed but had to go in to work so my MIL stayed behind with her husband to make sure it was picked up and everything. When the tow truck got there, and the lady was loading the car on, my MIL was taking a picture of my car and a video (I own a show car and wanted to make sure it was being taken care of). The lady rudely told my MIL to not record her or take pictures of her (as if that was even something we were doing). I found it rude of her to say something like that to my MIL when my MIL told her she was just recording the car to show it to me since I was at work. I am a new customer, on Saturday my battery was dead i was solo at the time, I needed help and find out what was going on. I called them then and got immediate service. The Tech that came was quick to come, he called me and said he was in the area and was at my house within 15 minutes. He tested my battery and tried to jump mine, he showed me on the meter, it was a total drain and that I needed a new one. Finally, I got an answer, been having problems with this for some time. College aged granddaughter got flat tire on expressway at 9:00 at night in a not great area. Called AAA and they could not get anyone out there After 3 hours of no help flashers drained the battery. We had to drive there, pick her up and abandon vehicle. Next morning they finally came after we called again. She could have been crashed into or robbed or God knows what. Two years ago I requested a tow truck for a 5-mile tow, had to wait 6-Hours in the Trader Joe's parking lot, all plans for that day were ruined. Last week I requested a 5-mile tow, was given a ridiculous 4-Hour Service Time Window for towing, gotten zero updates, NO-SHOW!! Five Hours later I got a casual text from the tow truck service that I would be receiving service however no ETA. Did I write and called AAA about this insanity? Yes! Both Times! Two consecutive horrible experiences two years apart. Things have only gotten worse despite paying more. No Good! Trust Is Gone! RIP AAA Roadside Assistance! Despite a ton of horrible reviews on BBB, somehow AAA still has an A+ Rating. Not kidding! I filed a BBB review and called, got transferred to an account manager with a 'full voicemail box'. When you type AAA on BBB.org , the roadside assistance service does not come up. You have to type Automobile Club Of Southern California to get to see the bad info. Finally, while waiting several hours for a no-show, AAA also has the absolute worst robot service named "Eartha". Instead of asking for membership number and location and giving a reasonable tow truck ETA, "Eartha" goes to town with all kinds of idiotic useless info, making the experience fully unbearable. PS. In reading the myriad of 1 star reviews here I guess my experience was not a unique one. I experienced a flat tire on a motorcycle yesterday. I was approximately 22 miles from home. I called AAA and was told a dispatcher would call with an ETA for a tow truck. After an hour went by with no contact I called once again to get the status on the ETA. I was once again told that a dispatcher would call me. After waiting another hour I called and asked to speak with a supervisor. I was told that they had no ETA and she left it at that. After another half an hour I decided to call a friend with a trailer and we towed the motorcycle to my home. AAA never called. After being a member for more than 20 years I am to say the least appalled at how the road side service has apparently degraded o the point that it is useless. I would hate to see how bad the service is regarding the insurance coverage they offer. As of today no one in my family is a AAA member. read more

I provided very specific coordinates of our vehicle and specifically asked if there would be a charge for the tow and was told there would be no cost because it was less than 5 miles away. I was also told that we would have a tow driver in an hour, or less since we were stuck on the highway. The fact that the driver took two hours to arrive would have been frustrating but what made it more frustrating was that there was a lack of communication and I was being strung along on the arrival time over and over (3x - keeping 5 of us in limbo thinking the driver was close when in fact he was not.) Then the add 'insult to injury' the driver called (after towing) to tell me I had to pay for the tow because it was more than 5 miles. I felt lied to, strung-along, and tricked. I paid the $36 to keep them from trying to charge my daughter. Only positive was that the driver who finally showed up was very friendly, helpful, and seemed completely unaware that we had been waiting longer than expected. I have since had two phone conversations with AAA asking them to review the phone call and asking for reimbursement but it's been over a month now and I still have not heard back from them, and AAA rating request has expired (haha). Waited an 1 and 1/2 hours for my tow truck to arrive. My grandson and I were sitting in a hot truck in the sun with no beverages for that whole time. Called to get an update, was told superior towing was not returning their phone call and just to sit and for them to show. After asking to speak to someone hire up the chain, they decided to send out a new company. Still noone arrived after another hour and a half. Received a text saying driver on way and to track driver. Went to tracking and it said no service requested for this account. A mechanic drove for over an hour to get to me to fix what was wrong. Needless to say no tow truck in sight so canceled my tow. Very first time with triple aaa and since I can't get a refund on the $165 yearly fee I paid if I cancel my subscription you can guarantee that I will not renew next year and will let everyone know not to use this company..
