Arrived at 09:50 expecting to wait a few minutes before opening. Returned a little after 10, and there was still no one around. At about 10:20, someone finally showed up. I was there to renew my international license and didn't anticipate any changes from the previous year, but there were some. They wouldn't accept the passport photos I had on me, and insisted that I take new ones. Of course this extra cost $ I was highly annoyed by the tardiness, the blindsided request to buy new photos and the general rudeness of the late employee. And after all of this, I still haven't been asked by any of the 5 countries I've traveled to, for this document. They've all deferred to my state license hmph

They stated multiple times over the years that their "classic car guy" was an expert and could handle a classic car. For the first 5 years of living in atlanta, I took my classic mercedes here until they finally told me their classic car guy was leaving and they wouldn't touch my car going forward. Frankly, they did 5 years of changing my oil and nothing else but they'd charge me for what they called "regular maintenance". Regular maintenance on a classic car should include a lot more than just topping up the oil and calling it a day, but every time I'd mention knocking noises or brake issues or anything else to them, they wouldn't address it at all so I had no idea if they thought it was an issue or didn't. Finally 5 years later, thank god their classic car guy left, because I took it over to a place in Decatur and all of the things I had been worried about, they found a reason, they gave me a full breakdown online of what they recommended and why, they answered all of my questions, and I could pay the invoice online and feel good about it. Update: As of 9:30 p.m., Jacob, the owner, repeatedly called and texted me after my review. He first falsely claimed I'd only visited once four years ago, then offered to pay me, which I refused. After that, he pulled up what he claimed were years of invoices that were not real, despite the fact that I have the original receipts for my own transactions. Even after I repeatedly told him to stop contacting me, he continued until I had to block his number. Based on both my experience and his behavior afterward, I would never recommend this business.

Because this is 1950, eye roll.. Jay is the real deal. Yes, Apna Garage is a modest shop tucked away behind a gas station. But how many mechanics have a legit 5 star Yelp rating? I'll wait.. The reason is because no-one is as honest, humble or as kind as Jay is. You can drop off your car which is very convenient. Jay diagnosed mine and explained everything in plain English without being patronizing. He's very responsive to messages, gave an honest assessment and didn't try to overcharge or upsell me. He even rode in the car with me to make sure I was comfortable driving it and that my needs were met. In short, Jay will be my mechanic for LIFE. 100% recommend. Thanks Jay!

Our 18-year-old son was six hours from home when his 2003 BMW overheated. He was alone, scared, and devastated at the thought of losing a car he had worked hard for. Anthem gave him a $4,172.60 estimate. This wasn't simply a list of optional preventative maintenance. Their written technician report states that they pressure-tested the cooling system and "FOUND RADIATOR + EXPANSION TANK HAVE FAILED." Their proposed cooling-system work alone totaled $3,665 and included replacing the radiator, expansion tank, water pump, thermostat, hoses and numerous associated components. Because this estimate was more than the car was worth, an 18-year-old kid was left believing he might have to scrap his car hundreds of miles from home. Thank God we did not accept that conclusion. We found Marcus at AutoPro Training & Repair Services -- (404) 599-8121. Marcus drove approximately 25 minutes to meet our son that evening. He helped arrange a nearby location where AAA could tow the BMW, used his commercial parts access to keep potential costs down, diagnosed the car, and even took the time to teach our son about his own vehicle and involve him in the repair. And Marcus found something rather extraordinary: THE RADIATOR WAS FINE. The coolant cap had blown off. They even found the cap. Marcus addressed the coolant issue and got the car going. His total charge? $175. That included $50 to come out to the car, $75 for his diagnostic work, and approximately $50 for the actual repair. Anthem: $4,172.60. Marcus: $175. I understand that mechanics can disagree. I understand that a 23-year-old BMW has aging components and that a shop may reasonably recommend preventative replacement. What I cannot reconcile is a written diagnosis stating that a pressure test found that the radiator had failed, followed by another mechanic examining the vehicle and finding the radiator intact and resolving the immediate problem for $175. The most painful part was watching an 18-year-old kid six hours from home become scared and depressed because he believed the car he worked for was essentially gone. Had we not questioned this estimate, he could have given up on a functioning car based on what he was told. Marcus's kindness and integrity restored some of our faith in humankind while simultaneously making the contrast with our experience at Anthem glaring. I can only describe what happened to our family and let prospective customers draw their own conclusions. But after our experience, I would never authorize a major repair here without first obtaining an independent diagnosis. And frankly, if you're anywhere around Atlanta, I wouldn't wait until you need a second opinion. Call Marcus first. Marcus -- AutoPro Training & Repair Services (404) 599-8121 For our family, that phone call was the difference between an $4,172.60 estimate and a $175 solution -- and between an 18-year-old believing he'd lost his car and getting it back.

Unfortunately, my most recent repair under the current management was extremely disappointing and involved what I can only describe as sloppy and substandard workmanship. I brought my 2000 Ford F-150 in for a clutch replacement and related repairs. The vehicle remained at the shop for over two months while they attempted to diagnose and resolve a check engine light issue after the clutch work was completed. During that time I came to pick up the vehicle multiple times, only to find additional problems each time. On one pickup attempt, coolant hoses that had been disconnected during the repair were not even reattached. Coolant immediately began leaking when the engine was started. On another pickup, the system was still leaking coolant. After weeks of back-and-forth and no resolution, I was ultimately advised by the owner to take the truck to another repair facility because they could not determine the cause of the problem. When a second mechanic inspected the vehicle, they quickly discovered the actual issue: the wiring harness had been pinched between the engine and transmission when the transmission was reinstalled during the clutch repair. This caused blown fuses and numerous engine fault codes. In order to correct the problem, the transmission had to be removed again so the damaged wiring harness could be repaired and the installation corrected. The second mechanic also documented that the transmission contained only about one quart of fluid at the time of inspection and that coolant lines had loose clamps causing a leak. These issues strongly suggest that the vehicle was not properly inspected or tested after the repair was completed. Because of the pinched wiring harness, the transmission had to be removed again and the wiring repaired. This required additional time, expense, and inconvenience after already paying thousands of dollars for the original repair. Even after the corrective work, there are still unresolved issues such as the speedometer no longer functioning, which will require additional diagnosis. Based on my experience, the workmanship on this repair was extremely poor and required another shop to undo and correct the installation. I strongly recommend that anyone considering major repairs here obtain a second opinion before authorizing work.
