Such high hopes-dashed. I judge all Thai restaurants on their green curry, which I order spicy...Stopped by for lunch and ordered that and the chicken rolls. The food basically came out at the same time which is not ideal. The items were served on/in paper products with flimsy plastic utensils and no extra napkins. First-I am dining in-there is no reason that real plates/utensils shouldn't be used. Second, the curry was an off color grayish green which was a little off putting but I tucked in. There was no spice-like it was almost flavorless. I ate approximately 5 bites and between the rice stuck to the paper plate, the color and flavor issues I decided to cut my losses and focus on the rolls. They were fine-nothing extraordinary but perfectly nice. Thank god i had those as I was starving. Won't be back. read more

Placed an order to-go for lunch over the phone. They said it'd be ready in 25 min, which seemed long but it's lunch rush so I understood. I ordered Tom kha soup with chicken and fresh roll chicken. Pick up my order and walk back to the office only to find out they gave me the wrong order. I called them and told them that. I wanted them to start working on my correct order so that by the time I walked back, it'd be almost ready. But, they kept insisting that the order was correct and I need to bring the food back for them to confirm that it was incorrect before they start making my order. So I walk back and what do ya know the order is incorrect and they start to make my order. Sit around for another 10 min before my food is ready. One of the workers did give me a thai tea for the trouble and apologized (I don't think it was the same lady on the phone), which was nice, but I'm still annoyed more than anything. Turned my half hour lunch into an almost hour long ordeal. Food - 3.5 stars. Tom kha soup was good. Fresh roll chicken was okay Service - 1.5 stars. My favorite Thai restaurant in town!! My neighbor introduced here and I've gone only here for Thai food since then. They had Jabchae which is Korean so maybe it might be a fusion Thai restaurant. I usually order a red curry with shank and a chicken salad which feed my hubby and me fully. I ordered all different curries with mock duck one time for my vegetarian friends' party and they all loved them. The avocado curry and pumpkin curry were the most popular that time. It is hard to find here since it's located in the building(you have to pass two doors) but once you find it. You'll love here!! read more

It was a good flavor however I paid a lot for the crab fried rice and it had pieces of hard shell in it which was not fun to eat, couldn't even see the shell so it was hard to tell what bites were good and which were going to have shell I had to pick out of my mouth. I asked for a lvl 4 spicy lvl in my green curry and there was no spice at all when I ate it , don't know if they forgot to add the spice but I had to add hot sauce to it. Living in Little Italy I've been here about five times, the food is consistent and service is friendly. It seems they have a big take out following. Every time I'm in here lots of to go orders coming out of the kitchen with people stopping by to pick up, so it seems they have a good business even though it never seems crowded with eating in. My favorite is the Massuman Curry with chicken. Here's a pic of the Curry with mixed rice, along with hot Thai tea. Prices are very reasonable. At the time of this review they don't have Pad Thai offered on the menu as the kitchen is not set up for wok type cooking at this time. That didn't matter to me, I come in for the curry dishes. I usually go to their location in Clairemont (Koon Thai Kitchen) and I'm not one to like change when it comes to places I trust with this type of cuisine. I was a bit hesitant to try AAHARN even though it's a sister restaurant cause some chains that do this change up the ingredients/recipes a bit but I am happy to say this place is consistent with the original! Pad Thai (level 10 spice) is my ultimate favorite. The heat is perfect and the flavors just blend together so nicely. Yellow curry is also another fav. So happy this place is in the South Bay and I don't have to drive up to Clairemont to get my Pad Thai fix anymore! read more

The first time I got seafood Tom yum soup togo and it was really good. This time I dine in but my chicken soup did not look like the other picture on here. I was hoping to have the full chili pieces and not what I got.. and the picture has herbs, such as lemon grass and ect.. last time I got it had lemongrass as well. Ordered medium spice and I eat very, very spicy. I put hot pepper of some sort on almost everything I eat. I order hottest level when ordering out. I took other Yelpers advice and ordered "medium" - it was inedible. My husband and I both could not eat it. Zero flavor only heat. That's not the way you cook any style of food. If you season your food, there's not need to dump an exorbitant amount of chili flakes on it. I hate nothing more than wasting food. Worst takeout experience. We needed a place that would accommodate our group of 18. This was one of the few places within walking distance from our hotel. We had high hopes from the rating and the greeting we had. The place was small, I think our group took up half the place. The decor was clean and modern. We orders many dishes and they took a bit to come out, and everything was staggering oddly. They forgot one of our dishes as well. The food did not taste fresh. The shrimp was huge, but it was way over cooked. The soup had an odd aftertaste. The crab fried rice was bad. The rice was over cooked and dry. There was no flavor and the crab meat had no flavor. I would not recommend or go back. Enjoy folks read more

Pad thai waaay too spicy when we ordered mild. Server blamed us for not "eating it the right way" and told us we need to "build up our strenght..." Then took order back and rinsed it off and brought it back. Lied to us and said it only had paprika on it when you could see the pepper flakes in it...beef also almost too spicy to eat as well when also ordered mild. Love everything here. Super fresh and authentic. The only time I don't get Thai food there is when I'm craving pad Thai ... for some reason they only have river prawn pad Thai for $25 and if you ask to substitute for tofu (I'm vegetarian) they still want to charge the same price! This is probably my favorite Thai food restaurant within walking distance from my work DTSD. I have been here twice with coworkers on a Thursday and Friday. Both days were busy with crowds outside the restaurant. Hospitality is wonderful but slow on the food delivery and bill. I love the Kuay Tiaw Tom Yum with noodles! The broth is excellent. I wouldn't mind going a little more spicy next time. The Jap Chae glass noodle dish seem like Korean vice Thai influence and was salty with way too much soy sauce but vegetables were nice and firm. I'll definitely come back to try other dishes! Prices are a little high but the portion size is decent. read more

Ive eaten at most of the main Thai spots in SD and thiis is by far my favorite Thai restaurant in San Diego. I don't understand how this is by koon Thai when the food here is way better! I got the papaya salad medium, which was amazing. It was tangy, it was sweet, and it was really spicy. My face was literally raining from the heat but I kept coming back for more. 10/10 would get papaya salad again I got the curry noodle soup which there are many reviews of already. I've had it on two occasions one on mild spicy and one on medium spicy. If you want to enjoy your meal get mild. If you are into inflicting pain and drinking a gallon of water in the process then I urge you to get medium. Over all the dish is amazing and hits all the needed flavors of a curry based soup. And the side dish of veggies pair well to cut the spice. read more

Tom Ka with veggies and tofu was amazing. Superb flavor and mouth feel. Al dente veggies were fresh and plentiful. I was happy I heeded others' advice on spice level. I went with mild and I still had to blow my nose a few times! Also ordered the panang with chicken which was nutty, and gingery and hearty. Lots of restaurants tend to add sugar or too much spice to make it taste Thai... But the food here was really thai. Right levels of spice and hardly and sugar - tom yam: ok, now this is the best tom yam I've tasted outside of Thailand and Singapore. We had the seafood version. Awesome! Prefect spice.. Not sweetened, just the way it's supposed to be - steamed fish: the fish probably got the most compliments of all the food. And that's high praise too given we praised everything we ate! If u like fish, order this. You are welcome! - green curry: another awesome dish. Very different from your typical American Thai restaurant. - khao  soi: not a fan of the rubbery noodles used in this dish. I'd probably not order it again or if I did, I'd leave the noodles and gulp down the rest! - the children had some steamed dumplings and chicken wings - I didn't get to taste them, but primarily because they were gone by the time I could even look at them! - sticky rice mango dessert: must have, especially in mango season (may-june) - singha beer: taste of Thailand. We were staying in Little Italy, and hubby was craving Thai food. I found Aaharn on Yelp with high reviews, so we decided to stop in and try it. The restaurant is small, but nice and clean. It had a nice ambiance. After looking at the menu, we were surprised not to see your typical Thai dishes, such as pad Thai. They also didn't have a wide variety of dishes to choose from. We enjoy spicy foods. When ordering, our waitress warned us that their mild would be considered medium at other Thai restaurants. This gave us the impression that their spice level is pretty up there. Hubby ordered massaman curry with chicken with medium spice. The curry sauce was very runny and not as flavorful as we've had at other Thai restaurants. The chicken was over-cooked and very dry. I ordered pla nueng ma now, a steamed white fish with chili lime sauce, lettuce and cilantro. I ordered this dish in mild spice, considering our server kept saying their mild is medium elsewhere. The only flavor I could really taste was the lime, cilantro and fish sauce. The fish was nice and tender, but didn't seem seasoned at all. We ordered salmon fried rice for our toddler. We should've read the description. It was not fried rice! Also, the salmon was well done, VERY dry, hard and rubbery. The only reason I'm giving this place 2 stars is because the only two servers who worked there were very nice and friendly. When it comes to their food, I do not recommend this place at all. While the food is okay, the service is abysmal. The server doesn't tell you that there is no option for a spiciness level less than 5, and you simply get your food and suffer through it. Service is slow and lackluster, and if you're just trying to grab a bite for lunch while working downtown, it's so slow you'll be lucky to be in and out in less than an hour. I had the Panang curry and it was just okay. Veggies were chopped in huge chunks in an attempt to seem fancy, but the flavors were just spicy, not good. Ordered via Eat24. Really great curries, quality veggies, and quite spicy (ordered level medium). Higher quality and cheaper than a lot of other Thai places around, so I'll definitely order again. My only complaint is that the take away containers leaked quite a bit, but they were each wrapped in a tied bag, so it didn't get all over anything but the containers themselves. It was a bit messy, but it was also due to them being very generously filled. We chose the Yellow, Green, and Panang curries, one with just tofu and veggies, 2 others with chicken. Chicken was flavourful and tender, tofu was good, though a lot of other places I think fry their tofu first, and this was just cubes of firm tofu. Veggies were awesome; the carrots and potatoes were appropriately soft (not overly) but the onions and broccoli were perfectly tender-crisp. Loved them all. read more
