Fadi was very happy to take my $6500 for a new transmission, but when I had an issue with my transmission a few short weeks later, his treatment and demeanor completely changed. I was left sitting about 4 hours from the shop. Fadi proceeded to blame me for not driving the broken down vehicle home and refused to pay the full rental amount, continuing to blame the situation on me. As a young woman, I urge you to take your vehicle somewhere else! Once the money was collected, Fadi was rude, condescending and demeaning. For work that lasts a short amount of time with no follow up to rectify the situation appropriately, this is your shop! They told her it was the transmission they "fix", charged her 546$ for nothing because a month later the light comes back on. Come to find out that they didn't changed the sensor at all. My normal garage told me my transmission was leaking fluid and motor oil. Since they didn't work transmissions, off to Aamco I went, expecting a 4 figure repair bill. Apparently there still are honest repair shops in the world. Aamco did the diagnostics and found that the transmission was fine, much to my relief. They repaired the oil filter housing to repair the oil leak and I saved a bundle. read more

I brought my 2004 Nissan Pathfinder to this AAMCO location back in 2009 and the owner Fadi took me in as if I was a loyal existing client and it made me feel so comfortable in comparison to all the other transmission shops I went to in the Northern VA area. Fadi and co took great care my car and is still running til this day which is amazing. They're great at following up after services and go all the way to make you feel taken care of. I've been taking my car here for over 10 years. I've taken 3 different cars (American, Japanese, and German) and the quality of service has always been there. They do everything for me from change light bulbs to replacing brakes to repairing transmissions. The work is always done on time. if there is a delay or something needs customer authorization, they follow up prior to placing a part order. More over, they have good relationships with the dealers in the area and can get you the part you want (OE vs. AM) - pending availability - and will explain the differences in price/quality if you ask! I've found that the Audi, Tesla, and Toyota dealerships nearby trust AAMCO. I've noticed technicians from those dealerships hanging around the shop and also bringing their cars in for routine maintenance and inspections. read more

Avoid at all costs, the main receptionist bill is a total jackass. When you called he is blatantly rude, dismissive, does not care to ever give you real details on your car or your situation. Literally does not care about losing business, I would find any other place to take my car next time. The wait time is unacceptable, ranging on days at a time for a simple fix. Talked on the phone, and as soon as I mentioned I had a free check engine light on coupon, the attitude completely changed. Also, they're trying to charge $49 to check the engine light, even though the website doesn't specify specific locations that take/don't take the coupon!! My experience with this service center was a nightmare. I had my wife's Scion for a check engine light checked at this place because it was closest to my work place and easy for us to get back to work. I considered AAMCO to be good as I had a good experience with one of their locations. So the guy who took us in said that he would us a call as soon as he finds out what the problem is. He never did. We called him at 3pm and he says that the mechanic said that it needs a sensor replaced and waiting for us to give a go ahead. How can we give him the go ahead if he didn't even call? Anyway it was too late for that day and we told him we will get the car the next day. So the next day we give him the car and the same thing repeats, he never called back. We went back and got the car and paid 250$ for the repairs. The immediate next day the check engine light was back on. I called them and asked him about it and he asked us to bring the car back. So we go back again, he asked us to leave the car and so we did. That evening we called him(we were sure he is not gonna call back) and he said that they replaced the sensor for free which went bad again. So we take the car home and guess what? the light came back. We call him this time and he asks us to take it to the Toyota dealer. I was so mad at this point they wasted like almost a week and made us spend like 250$ for a sensor which we are not even sure is replaced and a very bad customer service. I would not recommend this service center for anyone, not even a small repair. I hope AAMCO keep their standards in this regard. read more

I went out today to find a place that I could get my emissions done. The stations in Mclean are always so backed up. I arrived at AAMCO when they were in the process of closing and they turned me away at first. One guy (not sure, but he might be the owner) came over and said they already closed up, but he will personally help me out. He then proceeded to direct me into the garage and took care of my emissions check. He saved me so much time and was very professional. read more

AAMCO on Tyco Road I owned an Isuzu Trooper, a four-wheel drive vehicle. It was running fine, except that it won't shift to the four wheel drive mode. I took it to AAMCO to fix the four-wheel drive problem. Before I left my house, I opened the hood and checked whether everything else was OK, including the oil level. AAMCO did not fix the four wheel drive shifting problem. They told me while waiting in their shop that the radiator was cracked and there was no oil in the engine. I went and looked. The radiator had every appearance of having been hit with a hammer. I did not have any choice but to agree to replace the radiator at the price AAMCO wanted as AAMCO had put me in a position such that I could not drive the vehicle to any other shop. Altogether the repairs came to approximately $900. No, the four wheel drive problem was not fixed, for which I went there in the first place. AAMCO is a franchise. I complained to AAMCO headquarters. They essentially told me to get lost. read more

I just called these guys. They were about the 26th company I called today. All of those other companies I called for quotes on used transmissions, parts or labor, were professional. This business however immediately responded with rude comments and then when he failed to listen to my question he insulted my ability to understand, even though I understand perfectly what I wanted and communicated it well. The prior 26 businesses had no complaints about my communication skills. He flat out told me that he doesn't like doing that repair and just doesn't want to work with me. So rather than acting professionally he acted with personal hostility and antagonism to my simple quote for a job that their website clearly claims it does. In other words the owner refused service because he didn't like me. Terrible business. Run people. Run! read more

When I told Bill this, he became argumentative and chastising, especially when I told him that I thought his quote was "expensive." I took my 2000 subaru to these guys after a great shop I use for regular repairs was at a loss as to a sound in my rear when I turned. They believed I would need to purchase a used transmission ($1400.00 to $1800.00). As you really need trans guys to evaluate transmission, I took it to this shop as I trusted them. After a couple of days of testing and diagnostics they determined it was the rear 4 wheel drive gear and not the transmission. I needed transmission service anyway so they replaced my trans fluid, filters cleaned or replace and put an additive in. No more problem and it costs me about $252.00. How's that. read more

Very displeased with the quality of service and professionalism. Brought car in for a strange noise and they recommended replacing the wheel bearing, which took several days. Brought it to the dealer two days after AAMCO's repair when the noise came back (had a bad feeling about these guys after discussing the repair with them) and dealer found a loose screw but couldn't verify the bearing install (it's sealed). Subsequently had to replace this part replace this part that is supposed to last the lifetime of the car just over a year later. Went to the dealer for this second repair; AAMCO wouldn't do anything for me since it was past their very limited warranty. Will never go back here. read more

Do not go to this place! I've had the worst experience with them. The customer service is the worst I have experienced with any auto shop. Bill, the office manager is a rude and unprofessional. They kept my car for over two weeks before they even made a diagnosis, then said they fixed it. Now the transmission is worse than it was before. And when I got the car back it was filthy inside and out and smelled like grease which took months to go away. If you like your car, try another place. read more
