I didn't know much about septic tanks and recently came to the understanding that the septic tank here hadn't been pumped in probably decades. I found where one of the hatches was and spent a couple days digging it out (not continuously, but I'm a software guy so digging dirt was an unusual and taxing effort for me!). Then I found out there are supposed to be two hatches that need to be exposed for pumping. I had no idea where the second one was and wasn't about to dig it myself now. Called Aaron's as they had been recommended by neighbors and I told him the situation. He said they don't dig them out anymore, but recommended Javier of Castle Plumbing & Rooter to have someone come out to find and dig out other hatch and then schedule the pump out. You can see my review for them also in Yelp. They were able to come out the same day and did a great job. So I was able to call back Aaron that day and was able to schedule a pump out for the next day. They gave me a price range depending on how big and full the tank was, with the expectation that my situation would be basically full since its been so long and a time range of 10am to 11am. I told him I would prefer the later end of the time range. The price range seemed in line with what I've heard from others. Maybe just a touch higher, but not at all unreasonable. The next day the truck arrived just before 11am, The driver/operator was courteous and professional and definitely knew how to maneuver the pretty large truck as were up a bit in the hills with narrow twisty turns roads. And the path to the septic tank required a bit of skill to get to as well. He got down to setting things up and pumping things out. It took him a little over an hour which meant it was pretty full and pretty big, ending up on the high end but not over the of the price range quoted. I was relieved to hear that there was no major disasters from not having it pumped for so long other than he found a lot of "trash" in there. Which must have come from a long time ago. All in all, it ended up being much easier than I expected and really appreciated their professionalism and transparency. read more

This business gouges you abusively by taking advantage of emergency caused by natural mother. This happened to me a few days ago unfortunately, they charged my tenant thousands of dollars by pumping up a tank with only 1200 gallon capacity, and I'll be the one to pay the bill. Trying to resolve the dispute over the phone, but it ended up ugly as expected. This business, seems related to another business called Able Septic Service. There are brothers and sisters. I called Aaron's Septic Tank Service, because 2 of my bathrooms have started to gurgle after flushing the toilet, after using an Auger to help with the clog it would happen again in the next couple of days, so I call Mike (the owner) and he listen to what I did and what was happening , during our phone conversation he was able to diagnose my problem easily, and referred me to his Plumber, the next day the plumber came and fix the problem, A big thanks to Mike for his honesty and helping his clients in guiding them in doing the right thing. Aug 2 2018. My mother had the owner on speaker phone (because she's hard of hearing) so this makes two (2) of us listening. The truck showed up right on time. However he informed me that I.... did not have the lid to the septic tank exposed. He informed me that it was two feet down, they charge for this and he does not dig. WTF?? This is contradicting. Was he going to charge me for digging it?? So since HE doesn't dig (or will not). He gave me a BILL for $275 for coming to the house. I said I overheard the conversation and nothing was said about the lid needing dug UP. His price was ballparked @ 30 yrs never cleaned estimated $900+. 15-10 years $500. Nothing was said about if you don't have it dug up we will charge you for doing nothing but driving around town. I guess it their way of filling the truck up with gas. read more

A little background: we moved into our house about 6 years ago and used that national company to inspect and pump our system, the problem was, as it turns out, all they did was check and pump out our pumping station, not the actual septic tank (we have a pump up system to the leachfield). Wow Mike Simon - an exceptional person communicator, conscientious and transparent - except when it came to doing a standard inspection in writing. We had an issue with a house we were considering buying that had a septic system. It was fairly easy to have it pumped after the 2 tanks were open not as smelly as I thought - enzymes work. The sellers did not know they had a 2nd tank and there was a side walk over it that had to be cut away - what a process. So the sellers had lived in the house 20-30 years and had not had it pumped it seemed! The neighbor said they had back hoes in the back yard - which might indicate they had leach field redone. Suggestion: have a standard form for inspections that includes standard info such as how long leach fields last (0-25 years depending on maintenance of the tank), tanks last sometimes 100 years, many cities require conversion rather than repair, and what usual MAINTENANCE is (pump q 2 years and biotic treatments monthly). The form they gave us said everything was in order when Mike was verbally warning us of the risk of failure (& potentially $25,000 is miserable repairs). Meanwhile this form could have been used by the sellers to pass off the issues to another unsuspecting buyer who would have bid against us for the home - which of course would be unfair to any potential buyer, or us - considering most people don't even know what spetic tanks and leach fields are. As far as TESTING - they did a 2 hour one but the 2 day one is better - this is running a garden hose into the tanks to look for over fill or back ups. There may be other plumber text books one but I did not go that far in my research - plumbers must have text books yes? This is far as I could get info for on the net and I spent a couple hours as I was concerned. Otherwise they did a great job - just need to change disclosures to be more like a standard house inspector's. read more

This was our first time getting the septic tank pumped. We have a complex system: a septic tank plus pump tank, and a grey water tank, both pumping to an uphill leachfield. Mike was super helpful explaining what needed to be done. Then there was a slight delay because of the weather. Mike called to let us know the truck would be a bit late, and the driver called to keep us updated, all for a one-hour delay. Awesome attention to the schedule. Ryan arrived and pumped out the septic tank and the two pump tanks. While he worked, he explained what we were seeing and suggested what might be happening (hint: pumps don't run during power outages). Professional, and courteous, and very responsive, but cost was never mentioned before the service was done, once finished, I was shocked on the price, $495.00 for less then an hours work, when the average is under $400. Then he further explained, that he gave me a deal and wanted to charge me $577.00, For example, as a standard he indicated that he charges 5% to cover credit card fees, now I think that is also high, but could be wrong on this. Because of the holiday, I had to go on the schedule 2 days out - but Mike called back in the afternoon and said he had made changes and now he could have someone out in an hour. Same day service! Ryan expertly drove the truck down our steep driveway, pumped really efficiently, and hosed and cleaned up when he was done. After 17 years in the business he had good ideas about what may have caused my problem. I would highly recommend them. As much as I hate having my septic tank pumped,( smell, inconvience, and cost) Aaron's does make it an easy painless process. We have used them in the past, and we needed them again today. It was not an emergency, our kitchen sink was " gluging" every time we flushed or took a shower so we knew it was time. Spoke to Mike on the phone, and we set the appointment for today betwwen 8:30 and 10:00 am. Being in rural San Mateo county(La Honda), we are used to all services either being late or a no show. Aaron's however arrived right at 9:00, and out by 9:45! The driver was great, did his job(yuck!) and had a friendly attitude. After some 30 plus years, I started wondering if I was ever going to have to pump my 1200 gallon tank! A 6 inch deep puddle in the sunken downstairs shower recently said "now it's time!" Aaron's general manager explained in great detail the issues of letting it go for so long and quoted a price range depending on the difficulties that might be encountered. (A very reasonable price compared to what it would have cost if I had had it pumped every five years.) I had uncovered both lids, but it was still a 2 1/2 hour very difficult pumping job. The final bill was on the low end of his estimate. Both the GM (Mike, I believe was his name) and the serviceman were very informative, friendly, and positive. Frankly, I could not have asked for a better team to do such a "thankless" job. PS: They replaced the lids, and even offered to cover up the tank, which I said I would do. read more

I am dismayed by the very poor customer service that I recently received from Aaron's Septic. They are familiar with our area, as they have come to our place to pump the tank before. Nevertheless, the driver gouged our driveway without an apology. Further, he left the lids to the tank open after realizing that his pump was broken. Upon speaking to the owner Mike (I was willing to reschedule with a better driver), I was appalled that, rather than apologize for the driveway damage and environmentally poor behaviour to leave the tank open, he defended the worker/driver. I was told that I am too picky and to call another company. I tried to reason with Mike, understanding that we can all be stressed. But, he still did not want my business. Indeed, I am not giving him my business. I am receiving MUCH better customer service from another company. I urge you to do the same and NOT use Aaron's, so that you do not waste your valuable time, energy and emotions. read more

This is a first. I called the office and got a nice woman who said Mike would call us within a few minutes from an "unavailable number." A few hours later I called again and was told that Mike did try to call us, but our phone doesn't accept calls from blocked numbers. I didn't know that, and certainly don't know how to fix it on the spot. Since it was fairly urgent I asked if I could just schedule, and was told no, it had to be through Mike. I asked if he could call from the office or any other phone, since our cell phones don't work at the house. Nope, he won't use another phone and won't give his number out. So basically, we cannot work with this company because of a phone glitch. I tried him first because I had heard good things, which is why I gave two stars. Don't want to ruin his reputation, just explaining that if you have a certain phone service you won't find help here. Rudest answering service I have ever had to deal with. Dumbest business owner I have encountered. I needed a septic report for the sale of my house. I gave clear directions to the owner that the home and address belonging to the septic system was #988, which is what the report needed to reflect, however the septic tank and its easy to access driveway was located on the easement at address #977. The report still wound up with the wrong address on it, which my realtor could not use. When I asked for a corrected report, the owner started calling me a lier and threatened to hand up on me, saying I am trying to falsify reports, refused to give me a new report, wanted to charge me a fee to come back out even though it was his company's error, and began calling me back multiple times yelling. Finally my husband called and spoke to him, at which time the chauvinistic pea brained owner told my husband I was a B#@!*. read more
