A full service plumbing company which does the drawings and files the permit for you is 3x more; they have to charge the same hourly rate for the paperwork which includes driving time, drawing time, permit approval time, time for multiple inspections. The building department requires a rough and final inspection. Tip: Turn off the gas meter with a 15in crescent wrench for 20$ from harbor freight. Add a pressure test valve and pump, call inspector for pressure test. Order new gas range from costco 1-3k. Going to hire him for all plumbing jobs from now on. I needed our incoming water pressure to be sitting at a standard 60-80 psi, but turns out my pressure control valve had completely failed without me knowing. I went to trusty Yelp to get some quotes for the job, and Trieu was the only one who responded quickly and decisively with an actual number. A large water leak occurred in front of my water meter in early March. I called Handy Rooter and Plumbing. Trieu came by, looked at the leak and gave me a very reasonable quote. Trieu and his partner then dug in front of the water meter and showed me that the PVC house line had popped out of a PVC fitting connected to the water meter. Trieu explained that the PVC line was not perfectly aligned to the water meter and he found evidence that the PVC line had popped out before and repaired in the past. Instead of simply replacing the PVC fitting and regluing the PVC pipe, Trieu replaced two feet of PVC line with solid copper because he did not want the problem to happen again in a few years. I had a previous plumber, Sam, come at look why my sink water was backing up and draining extremely slowly. This 1st plumber was recommended on Nextdoor. Now, looking back from the same person. So never know if it was a relative. Sam came by looked at main and snaked from under the kitchen sink, then told me the problem was bigger. Since we have cast iron pipes (1961 house) we probably needed a partial repiping. I mentioned that 4 years back a plumber (I couldn't recall anymore) had gotten onto roof and from that access unclogged the problem. He said he did not get onto roofs. I contacted Trieu of Handy Rooter to confirm if I may need a partial re-piping. Trieu got onto the roof, ran a snake and the the drain was unclogged. This clog was affecting my laundry pipe as well as kitchen pipe. Trieu ran my clothes washer to make sure that water would drain properly. All was good. He said wait and see. He said not to consider a repiping as yet. If issue occurred within months or a year, then maybe consider taking care of problem (that had occurred in the past) in a permanent way, or just unclog again. My job was to remove old kitchen faucet and install (replace) a new kitchen faucet. I've called Trieu 8:00AM and after a few Q&As, he gave me a quote *immediately* on the phone. It IS actually handy exactly like his business name. For some other high rated plumbers (Hey, I am not blaming them and I assume they are also good) that I've contacted through yelp's project, yes, they replied pretty fast, but asked me a full name, photos, address, and make an appointment just for a technician to come to my house and give me an estimate. If the project is big, yes it makes sense, but my job (replacement of kitchen faucet with existing valve/pipes) I assume, is pretty simple and I would not even mention it as a 'project' :-). I also didn't want to spend too much time. I just needed an immediate action and the job done quickly and precisely, and that's what exactly Trieu delivered. Trieu also promised the time when he can come and he texted me before arriving 15 minutes. AND he came on time (actually 15 minutes earlier). That was good. In my opinion, when the things, especially the job like this contractor kind of work, are done in the way without a delay and argument about the work, that alone is great. NO further complimentary are needed. He came at 9:45 and left around 10:45. everything I needed was done. Great ! I can't tell whether he is expensive or cheap, but I paid $150 for the faucet replacement and it's your judgement call whether I overpaid or rightly paid. it seems to me a reasonable price considering the inflation these days and the time he has to spend. BTW, Trieu is not very talkative or willingly explain what he is doing. He just sat and started to work and job is done within 1 hour and left. If you expect more (like kind words or explanation before or during the time), then find other guys. But, he answered me all the questions I asked, and the job he has done seemed to me a quite of high quality. A couple of years ago we had Trieu fix an issue with our sink backing up and garbage disposal not working that another plumbing company came out for three times over the course of a year without fully fixing (charging each time). Handy Rooter and Plumbing came out once, in a very timely manner with God communication, gave clear information, and solved the problem. Then, a few months back, our 10+ year old water heater was not working and flashing a warning code. They were able to give us some advice that fixed the problem without coming out, and for no charge.
