I had a great experience with Freddy and his team at Freedom Underground at my Menlo Park residence. It was a hairy situation where I needed to install a new sewer line down a shared driveway and into the public street. Various permits and inspections from the city as well as the sanitary district were needed, I had some concerned neighbors to deal with, and we had to do it in a way that protects a large heritage tree right near the work. Freddy was extremely patient and creative during the scoping process. He understood the requirements and concerns of all parties involved and offered different solutions based on what the needs were. He and his office manager Fiona did a good job of managing all the admin stuff as well. I never felt like the team didn't know what they were doing or didn't have a plan. Once the job started, Miguel did an excellent job managing the work and the team. His communication was great and he quickly corrected course based on any concerns or requirements raised. Miguel was a good foreman. We had a very good experience working with Freddy and Alex. We have a relatively small job of installing a sewer clean out but not once that they made us feel like our job is too small. The team helped us with permit and inspection and always fast to fix anything the city wants. Their workers know what they were doing and get the job done in an extremely timely manner. They also clean up well after. Their manner is always courteous and extremely kind. Hard to find a company like that nowadays. Their office manager-Fiona is probably the best office manager Ive ever worked with. Extremely responsive, reliable and resourceful.At some point I feel bad she spent too much time on our little project. I do certainly hope she stays with the company for a long time. We had a water leak beneath our slab concrete foundation which we discovered thru a high water bill. San Jose Water verified that the leak was in fact within the house structure (no obvious water damage was seen). Freddy verified the leak and devised a 're-pipe work around' solution as the existing feeder pipes are embedded in the slab. The work crew led by Angel were professional and efficient. They were respectful of our home and communicated with us step by step. We had a couple of requests that were listened to and changed to our satisfaction. Unacceptable! Took a while to setup an appointment for estimate for clean out line, finally got scheduled for Saturday 9/13/2025, from 9:30-10:30. No point of contact, just leave a message with the office and "maybe" they will answer. I notified that I need 30 min call prior to arrival, assured that they will. I arrived at 10:00, no way to know if or when technicians will come. Nobody came. Why do they think that their time is more valuable then mine? Why would I hire somebody with such poor work ethics? We had a leak in our irrigation system. Freedom Underground convinced me that they knew what to do to fix it (cap off a certain galvanized pipe underground and run a new pipe). In reality, there was no galvanized pipe running underground, they just assumed that. They had no idea what to cap off when they sent me the contract to sign. They did a ton of expensive work (running the new pipe) that didn't address the leak at all. Also, they hacked off an existing pipe for no reason extremely close to the concrete, which caused a ton of extra work to fix since there isn't enough pipe sticking out to cap it properly. Not only did they not fulfill the terms of the contract, they also tried to pressure me into paying them extra for their time on the second day. read more

I had a water main leak at my home. I had my plumber come out and he suggested I call Freedom underground to locate the leak and possibly do the repair. When the owner Freddy came my dad who is a retired plumbing contractor came out as well as he was interested to see the process of the leak detection. After locating the general location of the leak he declined to do the repair saying he did not want to do the job if there was going to be another plumber around watching (my dad) and that he would be too expensive anyway. So I called my plumber back but he could not find the pipe and was suprised that Freddy didn't locate/mark the line and only located the general area of the leak. So rather than keep digging and trying to find the waterline we decided to replace the whole mainline. Had he actually marked the line location we might've been able to find the pipe. read more

Freedom Underground just completed extensive French Drain around side and front of our house. From the minute I contacted the company communication was great and professional. During site evaluation Freddy explained in details what needs to be done and how it will work. He also was very accommodating as far as schedule. Fatima was always available on SMS and phone for any of my questions. Work started exactly on schedule. Crew consisted of 5 people with Alex directing everyone. All worked very hard every day. It took 7 work days, lots of dirt to dig out and lots of gravel to put it. I cannot be happier with the workers. Alex was really flexible and accommodating to all my questions and changes requests. It did not rain yet, so I do not know how well it will work, but I expect no issues. Company also has life time warranty on the work, so no concerns. I'm confident that is something goes wrong they will fix it. At some point we had a small mountain of dirt in the back yard, but everything was cleaned up and brought back to original condition. Freedom Underground did an amazing job for my family and I in Discovery Bay! I had major drainage issues on 1 particular side of my home because of the poor grading - all of the rain from my neighbor's downspouts would roll down towards my property and my foundation . My particular job included easily over a 100' of 4' deep trenching for a massive french drain system near my foundation and other sensitive areas while including several of my downspouts as well. My particular drainage job also included boring underneath my driveway (30') and dispensing all water safely from my foundation towards the sidewalk and street gutters with a pop-up riser. Freddy is highly knowledgeable and knows drainage! His crew, which are his own company employees, not temps just to save a few bucks were also awesome. They were extremely courteous, they worked fast, they worked hard, and most importantly, they don't cut corners. They stayed on time and on budget. They cleaned up everything after completing my massive drainage project. Your home is your most prized asset. We noticed water puddling in my mom's front yard by the water spout. we found that there was a slow main water leak under her driveway. We contacted Freedom and Freddie came out within a few hours and confirmed what we had found. He advised that there was no need to dig up the driveway because they had the tools to bore under the concrete. He was able to schedule and complete the job quickly and without over charging my mom. Would like to thank Freddy and his team for the quick response and repair of a clogged sewer line. One section of the sewer line was badly clogged over all these years and snaking no longer helps. Even hydro jets don't help. The clog is located underneath the carport concrete. Freddy and his team opened up the carport concrete, replaced the clogged section on day one. On day two, the carport concrete was restored. All done quick, clean and at a reasonable price. Very professional, friendly, clean, and Freddy took the time to explain everything beforehand. Freddy's team replaced the main between my water meter and house by working around a large tree and recently installed hardscape. Work was done quickly and his team also removed and replaced the plants that were in the path of the new main. We had to replace our main sewer line so we had more than one company assess our situation. The first company (I'm not naming names) ran a camera into the sewer line and identified numerous "belies". They gave us a quote for a trenchless sewer line replacement. Then I met Freddy with Freedom Underground and he personally came out and did the very same exercise. Thank you Freedom Underground Plumbing and Freddy for squeezing me into his tight schedule. Had a leak under the concrete slab, originally thought. Hired a detection leak detection from another company but the technician falsely identify the location and suggested smashing and removal of concrete along with repiping , along with calling US gas to mark gas pipe(luckily I went with Freedom Plumbing)...otherwise I may have ended up paying more than I should and project may even take longer. Freddy sent over the plumber Ramiro who quickly located the leak location which was NOT under the concrete as the other leak detection technician said. The leak was caused by tree root which broke the irrigation pipe. After the locating the leak, the tree was removed along with root. The leak pipe was identify, cut, and replaced. Mr.Ramiro has a very hard working ethic and determinaton who work tirelessly in the rain for 7 Hours. Arrived at 8:25am, tree removed at 11am, remove small portion of concrete and replace pipe. After 7 hours working in the rain, Ramiro had to call it a day before the rain was too hard and the hole he dug for identify the the pipe was too continously filled with water regardless how hard the pump work. So he called it a day and return 2 days later completing the project. My wife & I do not normally put out reviews on jobs carried out by contractors who are expected to do a job well. Recently, we find ourselves in a unique situation to find out the difference in quality of work. About a year and a half ago, my wife & I had a serious kitchen drain clog problem and contracted a large & well established 40 year old plumbing company to hydro jet the drain pipe. We of course expected that we would not have to deal with the same issue for at least the next 5 years. Unfortunately, due to the poor quality of their work, the clog was never entirely cleared which is why we faced the same problem once again. My main water line broke in the front of my house which threw me into a tail spin and research mode. Many years ago I spent a lot of money pouring a beautiful walkway up to my house and of the course the leak was under the cement walkway. First day I got a local guy to come out and detect the leak. It was near the edge of the concrete but not repairable and from the 70's. There was no way I was going to tear up that walkway. In my research I came upon "trenchless" water pipe replacement. With this no concrete is torn up. I called a few companies but was especially impressed with Freedom Plumbing's website because I really wanted someone that specialized in the "trenchless" process. They are located in San Jose and my house was in Clayton so I had a feeling that was too far but called anyway. Freddy answered the phone and was very informative and knowledgeable. You could just tell he knew his stuff. He even gave me a reasonable estimate over the phone and was happy to come all the way to Clayton the next day to look at the job. When I met with him the next day he explained everything and answered all my questions. Two days later Antonio and his crew came out and started on the job. Super nice guys and good at what they do. I received a couple of huge water bills from the city, so I called Freedom to see if they could help me figure out what was wrong. Turned out that I had a busted water main that was draining toward the street, so there were never any telltale puddles in my yard. Freddy gave me an estimate and got me on his schedule for the next week. Rain caused some delays, but they came on the next business day to install a temporary above-ground line so that I wouldn't be wasting water (and money). When they came out to do the repair, the crew was quick, did a great job, and kept my yard almost entirely intact. A few days after the main was replaced, I realized that my sprinklers weren't working, so I got back in touch and Freddy sent a couple guys out the next day to get those back online. I don't think this company is worth a 5 star. I talked to the owner about a problem of my sewer line. The owner basically grilled me because I don't have enough plumbing knowledge. What he claimed is that my house is too old and the pipes may not fit for today standard pipes. I had a hard time to explain the problems as it sounded that he was an expert to know everything, but just cannot understand my simple problem of replacing the sewer line. He thought it would be a great favor if he comes for an estimation for free and he was very reluctant to do so. He promised to follow up but never did that. On the contrary, I contacted another company and they did an inspection for free and finished the job the next day. read more

Contacted Freedom underground Plumbing for a sewer Camera inspection. Our sewer gets backed up every so often so we wanted to see what was going on. The staff was friendly and quick to set us up with an appointment. The price was fair for the service they provided. We got a USB video of the sewer inspection with a voice recording of the condition of the pipe. They also provided a written report of the video inspection and suggestions on how to fix the problem. He got done with a job late so no but he asked to come in the morning. Just last Wednesday, we finally got a small "damp" section of our front yard properly diagnosed as being the result of a leak in our water main. Umberto from Freedom Underground came over to look at the problem and give us an estimate on either Thursday or Friday. After talking to San Jose Water Company, the work was scheduled for Thursday of this week. But on Saturday, the leak suddenly got a lot worse, so we had to call SJWC to get them to turn off our water. (They said it was a 500-gallon/hour leak at that point!) I texted Umberto to tell him the problem, and he was able to reschedule the work for Tuesday of this week. The work went off without a hitch, but SJWC didn't show up to turn the water back on before Umberto and his team had to leave. However, Umberto said that if I texted him after SJWC showed up, he'd come over to open the valve in our basement slowly, so as to let the air out before we started using any water. That was really an above-and-beyond offer, which I happily took him up on! And then this morning, Umberto and a co-worker showed up to replace the dirt over the new pipe (which I had wanted left out until SJWC blessed the new pipe as being leak-free). To summarize: Freedom Underground gave us an estimate on short notice, changed the scheduled work date on short notice, fixed the problem in one day, returned to turn the water back on after-hours that day, and showed up promptly the next morning to fill in the holes left by the work.
