I went for a treat last night and ordered chocolate almond, a very popular flavor. Well apparently last night they ran out and instead of making more they served me chocolate with almond sprinkled on top. Not the same. I went back today to ask if they still made it that way, they do. When asked about the time the same young lady was in there and I definitely new what happened and I got a "sorry about that" and an offer for a free one. I did not get what I paid for and asked for a refund but nope. I will just avoid this franchise but if you go make sure you're getting what you paid for. read more

They're the only ones open later than 8pm around here... They offer typical teenager customer service... Their custard is expensive for the portions and it's not as good as it used to be. It's no longer anything special. Save your money and go somewhere else. read more

Abbott's is one of those Rochester classics not to be missed. I like this location because it's conveniently located right between Fairport, Penfield and East Roch, and the kids working here are always friendly and on-point. No inside seating, but there are a few picnic tables outside. This stuff gets messy, so you probably want to finish eating it before hopping back in your car (or at least get it in a dish instead of a cone). But YUM. There isn't a ice cream in the world that compared to this custard. Go for the chocolate almond with sprinkles... You won't be disappointed. read more

I'm so sad that Abbott's has gone down the tubes! We have watched the slow decline the last several years. Waffle cones that barely exist, inconsistent taste of the custard, inconsistent size scoops, runny custard and confused servers that have no business being behind the counter. No response when I sent a note to the store they email! We were there with 5 other couples...we will not return! Head to the lake! read more

I've been going to this particular Abbott's location since I was a kid. My husband and I just left with 3.5 bites of ice cream per person for seven bucks. That's one dollar per measly bite. I'm not a glutton, don't like massive portions of anything - but really?! The Chocolate almond is still good, but this establish blew it by trying to skimp on serving sizes. We were laughing when she rung us up. Also the girls were handling the cones bare handed while scooping. Just gross. I guess we'll have to go to the Pittsford dairy. Never again. read more

I'm not sure why the reviews here are low. I've visited four times in two months, and each time it was a good experience. The two working here today were nice, and efficient. Plus the hot fudge is nice. It reminds me of when I was a kid getting custard at the Charlotte branch. read more

7:15 Sunday night, Fairport Abbotts. I was attracted to their offering of Red Velvet Cake Ice Cream. I love the cake and the ice cream when I can get it. Sadly, I'm here to tell you the Red Velvet Cake Ice Cream IS A LIE. What I asked for and what they gave me were two different things entirely. I got chocolate ice cream. Nothing wrong with chocolate ice cream, but they straight up pretended it was Red Velvet Cake Ice Cream when it obviously wasn't. I have no idea why. Look at the picture. Two possibilities: they're stupid as rocks or they thought I was. I guess you can go there, but be prepared for the reincarnation of Henry Ford, who, when asked what color his Model T would be available in, said: "Any customer can have a car painted any colour that he wants, so long as it is black." Or chocolate. For 3.00 for one meager scoop. Place was kind of a mess. You would think all that guilt about deceiving customers would at least be sublimated into cleaning. Don't waste your time. I think there's new management. No unique flavors any more. Place is filthy. Menu changed. Employees are horribly trained. Tonight I went in for a vanilla. VANILLA. Adult man/manager/owner told me they were out of vanilla: "We already made 3 batches today." Ok. So THE BASIC flavor is too wild to make another? It's a 5 month selling season. There's 5 places within 3 miles of here for froyo and ice cream. Go to those places instead. The owners here don't care so why support them. What a shame! read more

It was a hot summer Monday and all the family wanted was to be relieved by some cold satisfying ice cream. We went to Abbots on Fairport Road not realizing at the time this visit would remind me why I have not been to this Abbots in over 5 years. A mistake was made that day and that mistake was about to be realized. We pulled into the vacant parking lot which should have been a sign however my need for ice cream blinded me. We went inside and looked at the menu or at least tried to make sense of it. The menue was scrambled between the back wall, side wall and the hanging signs. You think they have a flavor that is on the menu but instead you have to look at the daily board behind. If this was in paper format I would need a decoder ring. My daughter ordered a small icecream in a waffle cone. As soon as she was handed the cone it dripped right through the bottom. When I go to other places their cones are closed at the bottom. The ice cream was just, not solid. My wife and I both ordered a flurry. When we went to sit down they were the consistency of lumpy chocolate milk with clumps of candy in it. Earlier in my review I said "cold" icecream, this is not what it was. My daughter ended up drinking the rest of her ice cream out of the cone, no joke. We couldn't take anything back because now there were people waiting to get in to order and because of Covid19 there had to be social distancing and we didn't have the time to go back through the line probably to get the same thing. Took my kids there last night to find out it cost $8 for two kiddie dishes...I know ice cream places are expensive, but these kiddie sizes were ridiculously small. Not to mention, they have like five flavors to choose from. Definitely wont visit again for those prices. read more

I was surprisingly disappointed with the service at this location (Friday, June 14th, around 9pm). I clearly ordered a chocolate almond hot fudge sundae and the girl repeated it back to me. What I got was a pretty pathetic amount of actual custard and zero hot fudge. I mean, it's in the name! If you're making a HOT FUDGE sundae, wouldn't you think it would be key to actually include HOT FUDGE in the dish? On top of this, the other girl that was making my friend's milkshake was kinda snotty. I didn't complain (although I should have because feedback is a gift :) ) so I'm not sure what was up with the attitude. Growing up in Fairport, this Abbott's location was a big part of my childhood summers. It as always an enjoyable place to visit with family. This week I have the pleasure of visiting my home town for what will likely be the last time for a while since my mom is selling her Fairport home. Last night, after a long day of packing up, my mom and I decided to treat ourselves with a couple of scoops of custard. I walked into the location right at 10 PM (which I didn't know was their closing time) and was greeted by 2 young ladies that were obviously disgusted that someone could possibly enter their store while they were trying to close up. I ordered 2 dishes with a single scoop of ice cream and was horrified to find my total to be almost $8. I asked when/why prices went up so high and they explained that a single was two scoops, and I explained that I hadn't asked for a single, but for 1 single scoop of ice cream in two separate servings. They complied, but the girl at the register didn't even know how to refund and seemed very flustered. Her partner at work that evening just walked away. All in all, the service was atrocious, and not what I remember from my childhood visits. Sadly, this is part of the many reasons I've left the area. The custard was still good, but at $3.50/scoop and with snotty young ladies providing sub par service it didn't quite taste as sweet as I remember. read more
