I stopped in last night on my way to another event. I grabbed a burger and sweet potato fries to go. I had the Abby Lane burger. It was a big, thick, jucy, patty, cooked perfectly. Topped with a generous amount of fixings. It took about 12 minutes to order and get my food to go. The burger was great and the fries were prepared properly and hot. The inside of the place is rather plain, it looks like a place at a strip mall, but the burger was well worth the stop. I think that the burger and fries was around $11. read more

These burgers taste exactly like they were made on the grill at a BBQ in your backyard. Meat tastes fresh every single time, as well as the veggies they use. The burgers are huge! Stacked high and mighty! Make sure you have about 40 napkins nearby because you will get messy. This place is a diamond in the rough. I got the lamb burger and asked for garlic sauce. The chef/owner whipped me up some fresh garlic sauce on the fly (it's not on the menu) and it was TO DIE FOR. I brought my chef boyfriend there a month later and we both ordered the same as before. .. sauce and all. It was so good my boyfriend got up and shook his hand. Upon entering we were immediately greeted by the owner, who was very friendly. We took a seat and I got a moment to look around. The restaurant is small, but it's very well maintained, clean and in great condition. It felt very comfortable and welcoming. The menu had a good variety of sandwiches, sides, appetizers, dinners, and even breakfasts (I'd LOVE to try breakfast here!). I decided to keep it simple with a quarter pound black angus burger topped with a fried egg, bacon, and cheddar cheese, and followed up with a side of tater tots. The waitress inquired how we wanted our burgers cooked, and even how I'd like my egg cooked. This is a trick more places should learn about. I love a fried egg on a burger, but not necessarily all of the messy yolk that accompanies it. So I got it fried with the yolk broken. The food came out a mere moments later smelling hot, fresh, and...yes, delicious. The burger was cooked to perfection, and had an incredible seared/char to it while maintaining it's internal texture and temperature. The egg and bacon were heavenly and there was no skimping on the cheddar. The tots were cooked just right and piping hot. I got a turkey burger there, and it's easily one of the best I've ever had. The bun alone is worth the trip there. Soft, a little dense, and a little bit toasted on the grill. The food was stellar if you're looking for a good selection of really good burgers and no frills. Small little hole in the wall with HUGE taste. I was expecting a great burger and got just that at Abby Lane. Happened to be on this side of town. Hungry. Looked up some Yelp reviews for a place to eat & found this little gem. We had the burgers & fries, which were great, & cooked perfectly. They have a bunch to choose from, or you can build your own. They also have an array of sandwiches, dinners, & breakfast. Personally, I love an independently owned, family restaurant. Chains are not for me. The owner was the cook, & a really nice guy. It's small....maybe 5 or 6 tables. And it's in a little strip mall, so you have to look for it. But it's worth it. This is metro Detroit's best secret! Forget the burgers!!! The Fish and Chips, Root Soup, and Philly Cheese steak is to die for! I crave this food! Don't know what the hype is all about. My bro in law loves this place. I find it less than acceptable. I've had take out and dine in experiences and they've all been the same. The burgers are dry and crumbly even when ordered medium rare. They're juicy, but only on the plate. The burgers are lacking in flavor even with toppings and condiments. The cook and wait staff aren't really keen in listening as well. My orders are always messed up or mixed up. I think I enjoy bk's whopper more than the burgers from here. read more

BEWARE-BURGERS ARE SERVED RAW! Just left this place and had to let people know immediately what we experienced so that hopefully no one gets sick from eating here. My daughter had ordered a medium well burger. When it arrived she bit into it and blood red liquid spilled onto her plate; so we peeled off the bun and discovered it was completely raw...not pink, but bloody red and UNCOOKED... Not even rare- I mean RAW! It was disgusting...I wish we had thought to take a picture, but we were in shock. We let the waitress know (she was shocked too and apologized). We left without touching anything else. We like to give our business to family owned restaurants, but this place is to be avoided. Side note: waitress lady...don't keep your toddler (2-3 yrs old) stuck in a high chair while you do your job. I assume you are the wife of the owner and the odd man who was at the counter is the husband/cook...he didn't even greet us when we walked in...no smile...no "hello." We should have turned back around when we got the weird vibe from Mr. Unfriendly Dude, but we tried. Also- the menus are printed (hard to read) on paper and the atmosphere is not welcoming...the walls/tables...gosh everything needs a re-do. I love Yelp and I love the honesty of my fellow yelpers, who once again lead me to another wonderful establishment. I have driven by this place many, many times and didn't know that Abby Lane was even there! First off we walked in and were instantly greeted by an extremely friendly employee and decided to take a seat and dine in. The entire place is very clean. The menu has a lot more to offer then I thought, but my husband and I decided to get burgers. I ordered the blue and tater tots on the side, it was topped with blue cheese, mozzarella cheese, lettuce and tomato. I almost ordered it without the mozzarella cheese, but it really worked. My husband is pretty plan and ordered a 1/2 lb burger with just American cheese and bacon with a side of fries. For the both of us it was $26, not breaking the bank by any means. I thought everything was awesome and I will definitely be back. read more

Absolutely wonderful food at this gem. I gave 4 stars only because the atmosphere left something to be desired. It was very clean and efficient though. This most recent visit my husband and I decided to dine in. I ordered the Abby Lane burger avocado and sprouts were the highlight. So in order to balance out the health factor we ordered fried mushrooms and fried cauliflower. They were perfectly battered and fried, not overly greasy, wonderful. In the past we have ordered fried pickles they interesting for sure. My husband ordered the blue cheese burger (I don't remember the exact name.) Both burgers were cooked perfectly to order. Since we were in the mood to splurge we each got a milk shake, these are honest to goodness real ice cream and milk shakes. Oh yes, a prefect burger meal. read more

Best burgers in town, don't listen to others. It's a small family owned business and has one worker (don't have parties here) most of the time, but it's worth the wait... Because unlike BK or McDonalds, it's real meat theat you can see and taste it is cooked. After working endless hours everyday, I think you should give the ONE worker there a break and stop being a woos and get over the little things that make it dirty (not very at all, if at all dirty) and think how you would manage if you were in his shoes. read more

This is a tiny little place that doesn't look like much from the outside. The interior is modest but, the food is absolutely fantastic. After reading countless positive reviews on this place me and my girlfriend decided to give it a try, we were not disappointed. I tried the cowboy burger and it was fantastic, thick juicy Burger cooked just right. It also had some type of BBQ sauce that appeared to be home made and it was great. The interior itself is relatively small but it has a great sense of a small hard working family owned place. I must say though some of the cheese sticks we had ordered were still a little cold, but were decent none the less. I believe the man who served us was potentially the owner and he really seemed to care and have a passion for cooking. I would recommend this place to anybody looking for a good burger read more

I've stopped here twice. I've tried the burgers, mozzarella sticks and hot dogs. The burgers here are just ehh...the hot dogs are no better than your average coney and the mozzarella sticks (twice) were not cooked through. I read someone else's review here about under-cooked food. I don't know if the cook is just inexperienced or doesn't care, but it's happened to me too, So owner of Abby Lane, maybe take to heart what your customers are saying. If anyone cares about decor or anything it's dingy and cramped. The owner also papered over the front windows instead of popping for blinds. Kinda cheap..like the menus. I think I'm done with this place. The owner (judging by some of the responses he gives) is probably going to chew me out too, but it is what it is. read more
