The name on the sign is "Abby's Legendary Pizza," so I expected amazing things. Sadly, I was quite disappointed. Don't get me wrong - the pizza wasn't bad. I mean, it wasn't anything to write home about, but it was decent. What really bothered me was the service and set up. There are no trash cans in the entire dining room for customers to use. When asked, they said "we bus the tables so there is no need for trash cans." Unfortunately, the place was so busy that there was no where to sit and when a table became free, it was a disgusting pigsty... And since it was super busy, no one was bussing any of the tables. Also, you practically had to beg someone from behind the counter to fill up the ranch bowl. I would have overlooked the lack of trash cans and service if the pizza had been epically tasty... I'm really surprised at all the negative reviews on here, not so much surprised at the negative customer service, the service is up and down and sometimes aren't the friendliest but it's never terrible... Seriously though what kind of service are you expecting? They have classroom style seating, you order at the counter, you shouldn't expect great service, I'm sure the workers don't get nearly the tips they deserve because of the layout and setup of the restaurant (shouldn't be an excuse for bad service), but I always tip even on to-go orders and they are nice to me. What better restaurants are coming to Newberg? Because in my not-so-humble opinion I can count on 1 hand how many solid lunch spots there are in Screwberg, there are a couple more when you include dinner but overall the food scene in N-Berg absolutely sucks. I hope some new restaurants come here, this whole town is like one big retirement home, you ever been to Fred Meyer during lunch time? Sorry I'm getting off topic. Oh and for the record, I'm totally fine with yoga pants. I'm more surprised at the reviews that are knocking the pizza. Little Caesars, really? Honestly I don't know anything about the "New York Style" pizzas that everyone raves about and say that nothing on the west coast compares to, but as far as all of the pizza joints I've had throughout my 32 years on this planet, Abby's is definitely in my top 10, they might even squeak into my top 5. As far as Newberg goes, it's the best in town, about 15+ years ago it was Ye Olde Pizza and Pasquale's for me, but since then they've gone downhill and Abby's has remained solid. I get their lunch special all the time, sometimes we get 6 or 7 pizzas when we have work meetings, the pizza is always great.. They use those old school styrofoam cups for their soda, I love those cups for some reason. They even have a night where they have $5 large pitchers (domestic) which I haven't participated in yet because I don't live in this area. Here's the reason for my 5 stars - Their lunch special is almost unmatched, I'd rank Nara Teriyaki as the #1 lunch special in town, and Abby's #2, but those can be interchangeable because their food and style is so different, but come on, a personal 4 topping pizza, salad and a soda (to-go, it's in a kick-ass styrofoam cup) for $8? or sans salad for $7. One day the wife was in town and we had Abby's, even my wife loved her personal pizza (no salad for her) and she is MUCH harder to please than me. If the wife approves then it's definitely good food. I get the wait on a holiday or even new years eve like today... but I ordered my pizza at 6pm online. They had issues with the online wait times and told me that it was at least an hour and 15 min. No big deal as I had already waited 45 min. By the time I waited an additional 45 they hadn't even started my order yet. Again no big deal... until I noticed that the manager/supervisor was pushing orders ahead for people he knew! People would come in and talk to him and bam! In and out in minutes! While myself and a few others waited hours! Granted this isn't stopping me from returning because it is good pizza but it is an issue that should be addressed. read more

All together it's okay but take it all part and the dough is an unpleasant texture and weird yeasty taste, the sauce lacks flavor and has a kind of grainy texture and the cheese can't possibly be real dairy. They overload toppings to the point where the pizza is soggy. We won't return. read more

Since Ye Olde fell off the rails in the 90's, Abby's became the #1 pizza spot and is still the champ. The sides and toppings are excellent, the décor is comfortable and nostalgic, the customer service is great and personal. I'll always stop by when i'm in town. read more

I've had good pizzas and bad pizzas at Abbys. That is my problem with them. Their quality is very inconsistent. They are the best pizza in the Newberg Dundee area....even on a bad day...which to me isn't saying much. Delivery people are super nice and deliveries are usually within the time stated when I place my order. If you are really craving pizza, then this is ok...but don't expect too much. (One time I ordered a pizza with red pepper flakes, and the pizza was covered with them instead of just sprinkled on like normal. Abby's is definitely my favorite! They're ALWAYS consistently good!! There crust is made daily and there toppings are top quality that goes all the way to the edge of the pizza. They definitely know the right amount to put on because I've never had to order any extra toppings. The only complaint I have about them is their pizza that comes with roasted garlic is just great big huge cloves of roasted garlic all over the pizza which gets a little overwhelming!! (Actually a LOT overwhelming) I've asked them to slice it before they put it on and they will do that! However it's a hit and miss whether or not they actually do it. They are a little steep in price for there pies, but the lunch special are a super deal. They always give you lots of meat!

I think it's a good place to visit. They have a window near the entrance when you enter inside. They have a game corner near the bathrooms which i think is odd but they do have a racing game from my last visit. You can get free refills but i think they also changed that as well. The staff are are very efficient in taking your order and the kitchen staff are also quite efficient as well. When you get you pizza's they cone with a generous amount of toppings which makes me wonder if they ever run out of toppings. The salad bar is okay in my opinion because the croutons are pretty much gone when i go to get salad but the staff quickly refills it when you let them know, the same goes for the condiments, like ranch at the salad bar or the Parmesan cheese shaker. My final thoughts? The service is 4/5. The food is a 5/5 because they have gluten free bread if you can have gluten. I would visit again. read more

Pizza is good. Probably the best in Newberg in my opinion. But the service is shoddy. It takes FOREVER to get a pizza delivered. On average 45 minutes to an hour and that is crazy for such a small town. The pizza's are pricey but they do taste fresh. We have only eaten there once. Used to love this place but sadly it has gone down hill! My garlic chicken pizza had red sauce not white (#1 reason I order it) and they forgot to add the tomatoes I ordered and paid extra for. They also piled so much toppings on the pizza it felt cold, like the vegetables never cooked. The menu online says they have wings but they do not. The game machines were all jammed and broken but took some of quarters and there's a sign that clearly says "no refunds"....The entire experience was pretty bad. For a smaller town like Newberg I think Abby's is a real treat. I agree that it is not going to bring you to ecstasy but it is solid, good pizza. The staff, not going to give you a feel that you are in the heartland but polite and helpful. Pricing is higher than Pizza Hut but in line with non-commercial chains. If you live in the area it is worth checking out. If you live in a different area you probably have your own "Abby's". read more

Really inconsistent service. We've been back and gotten great and fast service. We've called in and gotten super rude service. The last time we called in, the girl who answered the phone was very distracted and I had to ask questions like "can I pay?" and "Is that all?" Today I ordered a pizza from Abby's to be delivered! The wait time was an hour which is pretty normal for this popular pizza place. The pizza was delivered to my door within the said hour. The older delivery man was very kind and sweet, explaining to me that he brought not only the tomato slices I had requested but also extra mushrooms on the side because he wasn't sure if there were enough on the pizza! Just want to say what a great experience that was for an employee to go the extra step to make sure I was satisfied with the order I had placed!! This has been the only place for pizza (by choice!) since I was a kid so I love coming back to visit. Their pizza has not changed and their ranch is not to be ignored. There is something magically delicious about their ranch dressing... I cannot get enough! Their pizza has the perfect crust (not too thick and not too thin) with generous portions of toppings. The Abby's Special and Taco Salad pizzas are amazing creations in addition to my personal longtime favorite, the Hawaiian. The only reason they don't get 5/5 stars is because of how long it takes to get your delicious pizza. The only really disappointing thing about this location is the fact that this is not a "corporate store". That means that they have a reduced menu. I am changing my original review due to the recent poor service I received on 3 prior orders. In the last 6 months or so, I have placed 3 seperate orders. 2 of those orders they delivered were burnt pizzas!!! The first burnt pizza, the driver admitted it himself, said he was sorry and offered me a free pizza voucher. The second burnt pizza was just pushed off to us by another driver. He didn't even check it. I opened it and it was friggin' burnt! I called them up and the manager sent out another free pizza voucher. When I tried to redeem one of the free pizza vouchers last night, it wasn't burnt, but it had nearly noooo cheese. The sauce was terrible and sour tasting and half of the pizza was just sauce and crust with no cheese or toppings! We used to love Abby's. Now we will NEVER order from you again. Three stars for the pizza. No stars for the customer service! Came here with the family while on vacation. The pizza was great but the simplest request turned in to a big ordeal. The sweet cashier offered us the giant pepperoni pizza as it was on sale. I asked if they could put pepperoni on only one side of the pizza. She said it would no longer be the sale price. I explained that I wasn't asking for any additional toppings just asking that they not put a topping on half of the pizza. Again she explained that was not possible without paying more. The arrogant manager came over and mansplained how cheese pizza is more money. Umm, I am asking you not to put toppings on my pizza which saves Abby's money but I have to pay more? I'm not going to say that it's the best pizza I've ever had, but it seems to be by far the best in the Newberg/Sherwood area. We usually get the meat pizzas and the pepperoni and canadian bacon slices are a little thicker than you get most places. I must say I enjoy the pizza, but they are not too creative with it (can't dock them for being traditional I guess) and the pizza skins sure look and taste like frozen dough, pre-made. I ordered two pizzas today before I left work as a take out. My boyfriend picked them up I ordered a large half Canadian bacon and half pepperoni and a 13" vegetarian. He came home with a 6 inch half pepperoni and Canadian bacon and a 13" vegetarian. I payed 31.50. I was offered a ten dollar credit which would cover about half my gas costs plus my kids had no food.
