DO NOT go to the Mesa location. The up front staff is very unprofessional and rude. They did nothing but talk to each other about their weekends in Spanish. I waiting for 2 hours before being seen. I was unaware that my daughter was being worked in, if I knew that I would have understood. But patients there that had appointments where waiting for an hour- 2 hours as well. Anything someone asked how much longer the lazy staff would "check with the girls in the back" and there was always "one more patient ahead." I saw 3 people called back after I was told that. Once I saw the doctor I was only in the exam room for 10 minutes. I will never come back to this location. I told my friend who has a daughter with vision problems about my experience. She will not be coming here either. If I were the owner of this business, I would find more responsible and mature front office staff. read more

I just left this office and I was so impressed! Both of my sons are in wheelchairs so going to any kind of appointment is very difficult. From the beginning the staff was so kind and helpful. We drove for over 3 1/2 hours to get here from the Show Low area because we couldn't get the right prescriptions... while I haven't used the latest prescription I feel confident saying I'm sure they will be spit on. The doctor was great with my boys and I look forward to recommending this office to anyone in need of spectacular pediatric optometrists! read more

We have been coming here for the last 14 years. Dr. Cassidy is amazing and the staff at the 7th st office are very professional. I had an appointment today at the Mesa location and was highly disgusted. The staff was unprofessional and lazy. We waited for an hour and a half just to be seen. The staff never attempted to obtain insurance information and basically just sat in front of their computers the entire time we were there. As I verbalized my disgust the office personnel just chuckled and said ,"sorry." It is extremely unfortunate that due to this location Dr. Cassidy will have infuriated patients. Went here with my 5 year old son. Honestly, given the address it was hard to find (thought I had the wrong address as all I initially saw while driving was a car wash lol). Going inside the place seemed relatively clean. The staff was pretty helpful and they had some kids movie playing (kept my son occupied). The doctor we saw was pretty good wish my son, keeping it interesting and was very kind. She kept me informed of what my son was likely experiencing (given that she identified him and nearsighted/astigmatism). She explained what would likely help (need an eye patch for him) and also suggested getting some stuff not via her own staff but using Amazon (always a good sign). Ended up picking out my sons glasses there with transitions ($359 ouch lol). Overall, I think the place is great if you're looking to see and opthomologist. But also check outside for pricing around glasses for your kids etc. read more

I like Dr Kassidy once we finally got back to see him today. When we first started coming here they weren't overbooking appointments and seemed to respect their patients' time. Now the lobby is a zoo and there is nothing for kids to do besides watch tv. If the wait time is going to be over an hour like it was today, there needs to be a selection of toys. The wait still isn't as bad as Dr O'Neill's but it's gotten longer every time we've gone. We will probably stick with this office because of the doctor, but come prepared to wait a while. Dr. Cassidy examined our 37 week old preemie. Dr. Cassidy did a great job explaining everything and walked us through the procedure. After the procedure Dr.Cassidy explained what he saw and drew a visual for us so we knew what he was talking about. My husband and I had a great experience here and our baby didn't swell up at all after the exam (he had big, red, puffy eyes after the hospital exam). We will be back in 2 weeks for another check up. read more

Dr Cassidy has been my son's doctor for about 13 years. Dr Cassidy is excellent with children. He makes an extra effort to engage with the child while he is inspecting their eyes. My son always enjoyed going on a pretend trip with the doctor while being treated. He is also a very skilled doctor as far as the cornea, strabismus, optic nerve, glaucoma, dry eye syndrome and will take the time to explain to you these terms and the overall eye health. He is an excellent pediatric ophthalmologist. read more

Not impressed at all with the staff or overall experience. Our first experience with our first kid needing to see an eye dr. He is 1 year old and the dr made us feel like bad parents for not being able to calm him down when they needed to test his vision. When the dr tried to explain his condition to us, she did so quickly and in a way that made it very confusing for us to understand what was going on. When we asked questions we became more confused and less hopeful that his vision would improve. I would not recommend this office. We quickly began to research a better dr. Overall we have had positive experiences here over the last 2 years. One appointment wasn't the best at the start of COVID but it was a weird time in the world. In general we enjoy coming here a lot. Dr. Makoshi is the best! She is great with our 4 year old as she is sweet and quick during apt. She is good at getting our child to cooperate and she makes follow up needed by parents clear. I have never had glasses and often get confused and she spent quite a bit of time explaining things to me. Our 4 year old tells us that they LOVE going to see Makoshi and playing the games. The assistants are usually always super sweet as well and good with kids. Today we had Jenny and she was my favorite so far. We don't usually have to wait to long to see the doctor and haven't had any issues with billing. I see reviews on long waits and I have waited a bit here and there but it hasn't been so bad that I've noticed. I go in mornings and that seems to be quicker. They only see kids which is nice because everything from decor and the environment is kid friendly. I would recommend. read more

We were referred to ABC by my 4-year-old's pediatrician. The front desk desk has been pleasant both times we've been there. The technicians were great with my daughter and you could tell they were comfortable working with young kids. Dr. Kueny is awesome! I scheduled a routine eye exam at ABC Children's for my 16 month old. When I walked into the waiting room, I immediately noticed that it was packed and there was very little seating left. After waiting 20 minutes for the receptionist to simply copy my insurance cards and gather new patient paperwork, I fortunately had the presence of mind to ask if the doctor was on schedule that afternoon. The woman at the front desk replied that it would be AN HOUR AND A HALF WAIT. When I asked if she thought that was reasonable, she literally looked at me like I was crazy and replied that quite often the wait was 2-3 hours. 2-3 HOURS. For a routine eye exam. I gathered my baby, told her that was simply ridiculous, and walked out. No amount of explaining can express my utter disdain, but let me enumerate what exactly is wrong with this business: Firstly, there is absolutely NO REASON for a business that sees patients on a scheduled basis to have such an extraordinarily long wait. If a routine eye exam takes an hour, then you schedule appointments for every hour. What is the point of making an appointment if my "real" appointment time is an hour and a half later? Even the most basic of human beings should know how to set up a schedule. Secondly, the front desk should be up-front about how long the wait is expected to be, especially if it a very long wait. I should NOT have to ask you. Several patients had very little children who were visibly bored and restless, most likely from the long wait. My child has special needs and would not have been able to wait 1.5 to 3 hours for an appointment. To not tell me of such an extraordinarily long wait up-front shows a lack of integrity. Thirdly, I believe this business's main clientele are low-income families, like myself. To treat low-income families so poorly seems to me to draw the conclusion that this business believes we are second-rate, and undeserving of a high standard of care. And unfortunately, because low-income families have limited options, they have no other choice but to sit and wait an unreasonably long time, just so their child can receive care. I could go on about the lack of professionalism by the staff, but in an effort to keep a long story short (too late), I will simply say that this place is the lowest of the low, and I would only go back to tell the doctor, face to face, how his business's lack of integrity, honesty, and professionalism is ridiculous and tells me (and hopefully everyone else) exactly what kind of person he or she is. read more

The office is not easy to find. They make you wait a long, long time-like 1-2 hours past your appointment is not out of the ordinary (this is frustrating, while I understand that providers have a tough job and their time is valuable, my time and my child's time is also valuable). We had a provider that recently retired-he was amazing and I am so sad to have to find someone new-but if it were only a question of providers, we would probably just keep on coming to this office. The doctors at ABC Children's Eye Specialists are fine-no more or less than I would expect of a provider. However, the staff is horrendous-seriously the worst medical staff I have encountered in the Phoenix area in the past 15 years (I'm taking staff from peds offices, general practitioners, OBGYNs, specialists into account here. To reiterate, this is hands-down the worst staff I have encountered in my medical experiences in the past 15 years.) They are disorganized and unprofessional at best. They are rude, don't know the expectations of their profession and not compassionate at worst. They won't/don't know how to bill your insurance properly. They are really inefficient. They book too many apts too close together (I know this has something to do with provider preferences, but if the staff were more professional, this would not be as big an issue). Again, the office staff is poor enough quality that I will be looking for a new provider and would NEVER suggest anyone come to this office location. The waiting area also leaves some to be desired, but could easily be overlooked if the staff were more professional. I will definitely share my experiences with others. read more
