My friend and I had previously made reservations here for a brunch, but they kept us waiting when we came in even though we were on time for our reservation, and didn't offer an apology. Ambience is very pretty, clean, and modern. It looked like it was The menu is entirely plant-based, with lots of interesting options. My friend went with the dosa, and I went with the sweet potato. The dosa was not bad, and my friend ate it in entirety, though remarked that it wasn't amazing. The sweet potato tasted like it had been very simply and plainly roasted, with a heap of salad dumped on top. I had to keep reaching for the salt to make it appeal more to my tastebuds. The servers here all have an annoying, new age way of calling customers "friends", ie. "Friends, are we ready to order?" I found the whole thing very unusual. This place makes it seem easy to be a vegetarian. If I had a personal chef this is the food I would be eating all the time. Healthy, beautiful, inventive and a wide diversity of international flavors and cooking techniques. I had the dosa with avocado and yogurt. It was simple but amazing. My wife had the mushrooms with poached eggs. This dish I've had in so many ways. Two ingredients that go so well together and if done right creates a divine pairing. In fact I make my own version that is one of my go to dishes to impress friends. ABC's stand ups to some of the best I've had it made myself. We also had two fresh pressed juices and two cups of coffee. All beverages were wonderful. This simple breakfast was satisfying and nourishing. The space is elegant, bright and tranquil. A great place to dine. But all this thoughtful food and ambience comes at a very hefty price. This meal (two breakfast entrees, two coffees and two juices) ran us $100. Worth it? This is literally my favorite restaurant in the world. I came here not expecting much just based a recommendation, but now I'm rethinking how good vegan and vegetarian food can be. If all food tasted this good I'd be set for life. If you're a carnivore and dislike veggies you might wanna try coming here to give you a new perspective. What was so good? Everything. I loved all of the dishes in terms of the flavors, freshness of ingredients, plating, and just overall creativity. Every dish was a crazy adventure with punches of flavors from all around the world. Hands down my favorite dishes were the beet carpaccio and the cauliflower. There was just the right amount of tanginess and creaminess and literally wanted to lick the plates. The flavors were so well balanced but they were unique and played great together. Not all the dishes are vegan (some use egg and milk) but many can be made vegan. If you are looking for a knock your socks off experience that is so delicious and innovative, come here. The ambiance is very cozy and warm, the tables are small and it's a tight fit but it was a great experience with very helpful servers. Vegetables are really are the highlight of the meal (as opposed other restaurants which feature mock meat) Loved their mushroom wantons and a mango salad dish they had. Finally made it here for brunch! Wonderful service and the ambiance is inviting, warm, and upscale. Our server informed us that the servings were tapas sized and that we should get 2-3 per person. My husband and I decided to start with 4 and go from there. When the dishes came they were NOT tapas sized. We were stuffing ourselves by the 3rd dish and asked our server if the 4th dish (vegan pancake) was already being made, we told him we were expecting smaller portions as he advised us and we were not going to be able to eat the 4th dish. He checked and came back to tell us that it was already on the griddle and there was nothing he could do. He packed this 4th dish in a to-go box and bag for us to take. We told him that we were expecting tapas size like he told us and he said there was nothing he could do. The food could have been a bit more flavorful and the whole experience wasn't horrible, just extremely disappointing at the end since we felt as though we were mislead. We also waited about 10 min for the 4th dish to come out from when we told our server to see if it could be canceled. I had been excited to try this place ever since I heard the indomitable Jean Georges was opening an all-vegetarian place. drinks were really tasty and a great way to start the meal. One thing I really liked about this place was that it was very vegetable-forward, but not in the traditional way. I've been to plenty of Michelin star restaurants and their vegetarian option almost always consists of a ton of root vegetables like turnips or parsnips cooked in various forms- which is FINE, but this was nice because it had some other veggies. Starters- we had the avocado lettuce cups and the pine nut harissa. Great start to the meal. the pine nut harissa wasn't quite a hummus and wasn't a pesto but was delicious regardless. We then had the dosa, which was probably better than most dosas I've had at authentic south Indian places. I think it's the combination of rice flour and gram flour that helps it become thic(c)ker while remaining crisp. We followed this with a mushroom/walnut "bolognese" which was probably better than many meat versions I've had. MY wife didn't enjoy the pasta but I really loved it. All of the food is excellent. Small portions so just be prepared going in that you'll want to order a few dishes, so it ends up being a pricey meal, but definitely worth it. I loved that it was all vegetarian, as I've been trying to eat healthier, but for those of you who find that appalling there are pasta dishes and imitation meat dishes as well. Let's start with the interior - it was absolutely beautiful. But what else would you expect from a furniture store? The wait staff was so friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. They advise 2-3 dishes per person for dinner. My friend and I weren't starving so we decided to order 4 total to share. We started with the honey squash with tahini. It was served with warm bread for dipping but you could also spoon the squash into my mouth and I wouldn't complain. Next we had the coconut yogurt curry yams which were a *slight* bit spicy but when mixed with the yogurt were perfect. It was topped with pomegranate seeds for some acid and fried potato shoe strings for crunch. We also ordered the coconut sticky rice which had a great salt to sweet ratio, but not the best sticky rice I've ever had. Last on the savory list was the mushroom walnut bolognese. The pasta was thick and chewy like it was homemade and the sauce had the same texture as a meaty bolognese. For dessert, I had the chocolate mousse which so rich but the best vegan dessert I've ever had. My friend had the matcha creme brûlée which was on the smaller and lighter side but still amazing. I often go to vegetarian/ vegan restaurants hoping to find something amazing, but always leave feeling dissatisfied and still quite peckish. This was absolutely not the case with ABCV! I came here with a friend last Monday night, and the service was fantastic. We had made a reservation, but were seated right at our reservation time & were well-attended to throughout the course of our dinner. We ordered the pine nut & lemon dip, the market carrots with nut butter, the half roasted cauliflower, and the basmati lemon rice with squash and peanuts. To start, the pine nut & lemon dip was amazingly refreshing. A thick, almost yogurt-like dip was accompanied by a wide array of fresh, crunchy vegetables and a full wheat pita. The nice thing about this dish was that they gave you quite a bit of dip & a large amount of things to dip with. I always hate going places & quickly running out of things to dip with, but that was not the case here. I highly recommend this as a starter-- great value! Next we tried the roasted carrots & the nut/ seed butter. After reading many rave reviews about these carrots, we just had to try them. The carrots were perfectly roasted & sat atop a creamy, salty, and somewhat spicy nut coarsely ground nut butter. The combination of flavors was very unexpected, but extremely delicious. The only problem with this dish is that you don't get very much at all. For $16, you get a few pieces of carrot that add up to be maybe one full carrot. Kind of a bummer. Next came the roasted cauliflower. Wow, this plate alone is worth making the trek to this restaurant. The cauliflower is roasted with a good amount of seasoning and nicely blackened in a few areas. It's not overly oily or greasy, like roasted vegetables often are. The plate is garnished with a plethora of items: pistachios, greens, baby onions, sweet peppers. And it comes with this luxurious turmeric sauce to drizzle over the top. This dish sets this restaurant apart from other places. The amount of food you get on the plate and the combination of the roasted vegetables, with the salty, crunchy, & creamy pistachios, and the lemony tahini sauce really make this dish a standout. I've never had something quite like this & wish I could be eating this again right now. Lastly, our meal ended with the basmati lemon rice with baby squash, asparagus, jungle peanuts, and herbs. This was a very filling dish, yet still felt light and fresh. Again, nothing was oily or overly greasy here. The rice was perfectly cooked and the squash retained a bit of bite. The peanuts provided an interesting contrast in both texture and flavor, and the dish was overall really well balanced. After four different dishes, my friend and I were fully stuffed and extremely satisfied with the meal. Everything was cooked just right, and nothing felt like it was greasy or oily, which I've found a lot of veggie-focused restaurants do. I'd recommend this restaurant to anyone, veggie or non-veggie lover, as it's so easy to find something you'd like off of the expansive menu. Came here for a work lunch and was really blown away by the quality of the food here. Who knew ABC Carpet & Home held such secrets? I guess literally everybody but me. But I'm glad I'm in on the secret now, because what ABCV does, it does quite nicely. What ya got here is fancy vegan tapas, so you order a buncha little dishes and split as needed. I myself am not vegan (or even vegetarian) but I appreciate vegan restaurants because usually the food is super fresh and the recipes are really interesting. And ABCV is certainly a solid choice in those respects. I got to try the green chickpea hummus (VERY excellent), market carrots (solid), fresh hearts of peach palm (not normally my bag, but I was very pleasantly surprised by this passion fruit and basil situation), market vegetable chop salad (an excellent salad served over sticky rice which works surprisingly well without feeling kitschy), kimchee fried brown sticky rice (solidly spicy), and the smoked tofu and shiitake bahn mi (big enough for two, for sure, and markedly excellent). The ingredients here can sometimes be a little left-field in their attempts to reinvent the wheel-there's nothing straight forward, even the carrots include chilies and lime-but everything together tastes fantastic so in that sense it feels almost like a tasting menu style restaurant. The prices of these dishes also reflect that (speaking of, the carrots are $17), so it's definitely a little much for me to come back regularly. But if you're vegan, this seems like an especially fun fancy place to check out or treat yourself to. read more

ABC is 2 popular 4 me. I made reservations about three weeks in advance for Friday night dinner and when we arrived, we still faced a 20 minute wait in the cramped bar area. Not fun. As you may know, abcV's shtick is vegetable-driven food, and apparently health in general as the drink list is dotted with juices, kombuchas, and "vibrations." We each got a vibration, I believe Connect and Mindful, for $12 each. Neither were enjoyed. I would stick with alcohol here. They have a wide menu here, with dishes in the teens and low twenties. We did four and a dessert, which was just right for two. First off was the green chickpea hummus with pita, one of their signature dishes. It's more pea-y then hummus-y, with a bright vegetal flavor. Good but didn't knock my socks off. Second was the grilled donko shiitake, which ended up being our favorite dish. They brought out a nice meaty note from the mushrooms, and the sauce and fennel complemented it well. Recommended. Third was the wok fried ramen noodle. It was a smaller portion and failed to have a coherent flavor profile. I'd skip. Fourth was the whole celery root. This was unique and tasty, with a quite good curry sauce. The pomegranate seeds added visual interest but didn't seem to fit. Finally we opted for a pumpkin cheesecake dessert, which tasted like Thanksgiving in a glass complete with cranberries. A little rich for my palate but enjoyed. Service is well trained. When they brought the bill, they told us that we had drinks at the bar before being seated, which we didn't, and they quickly got it taken off. The meal ended up being on the quicker side, about an hour from being seated to finishing. I don't know that I get what's so special about this place. It's more tastefully decorated than Cocina, and it's a good atmosphere, but the food didn't bowl me over. High prices and small portions, that standard Manhattan complaint, but really. I wouldn't say we feasted but it ended up being $70 a person after tax and tip. Finally, I wouldn't recommend bringing anyone with a nut allergy here as they seem to use it widely in dishes and desserts. They will accommodate you if you ask but I would recommend not risking it. My boyfriend had an allergic reaction to a dessert that supposedly only contained almonds, which he eats occasionally and doesn't normally react to. Trying not to overweight that in my review of the rest but an FYI for those with allergens. read more

This was my first time at any of the ABV restaurants and I was pleasantly surprised. We went there for Sunday brunch and had made a reservation via reserve.com which was smooth. When we reached there we had to wait about 5 mins before our table was ready. The place is more like a tapas style vegan place where you order small plates to share. We started with Japanese tea for the table. They have a good selection of Teas, coffees, Juices, wines, and cocktails. We ordered sauteed leafy greens(5/5), beluga lentils(5/5) and half avocado(3.5/5) for a party of 2 which was the perfect amount. We will go to try their other restaurants next time. read more
