I waited WAY too long to try this place! Absolutely impeccable service, the atmosphere is cozy and bustling without being overwhelming, and the food is incredible. I had the torched fig and feta salad, which is an unusual choice for me but it just looked so good! It lived up to the expectation -- a delicious, perfectly dressed salad and who doesn't love a fig? Avocado, vegan feta, pistachios....come on! The sausage ravioli with was similarly delicious -- and spicier than expected in the most perfect way. The sauce was flavorful and rich. The house-made raviolis were just great and perfectly filled with savory vegan sausage. I came here last night for my best friend's birthday. The start of the experience was great - the ambiance was lovely and service started off strong. On our second round of drinks, the runner carried over 5 very large glasses filled to the brim on a tray, and dropped all of them on me. It was clearly an accident, but I was left absolutely soaking wet, with ice and alcohol down my shirt and even dripping down into my shoes. It was a lot of liquid. I had come directly from a weekend trip so luckily had extra clothes I could change into. If I didn't, I would have had to go home, I was that wet. I even had to change my shoes - they were sloshing with every step. Despite changing, my whole body was sticky the rest of the night. I'm glad we didn't plan to go out after, because I would have had to go home to shower and missed the night. I was still of course kind to the staff and did not complain. This number of drinks, this full, shouldn't have been carried in one trip on a tray. Given the extent of this incident, we had expected a significant amount of our meal to be comped, or maybe all of the drinks. Instead, two desserts were taken off the bill (we had ordered ~half the menu, including every dessert). I used to work in food service as a host and as a server, and if I were waiting on our table, I would have done this - I would have been expected to by my manager. I don't blame the runner - he made a mistake. But I think it's management's job to make sure guests have a good experience and make up for mistakes. The food was really good and I wanted to want to come back, but don't feel great about it given this treatment. The staff was still nice, but comping only two desserts felt egregiously disproportionate to my experience. My clothes were machine-washable, but if they weren't, I would be footing a dry cleaning bill for this disaster. It was cool to have a full vegan Italian restaurant, but on the menu keep the names as the same dishes you would find otherwise. Like caviar, but it's not really caviar, get it. Overall, I wasn't that impressed with the food, as it tasted kind of bland, not much for portion size (which I get for this kind of restaurant), but then I would've wanted better flavors. I think each of the items fell short, even the ones others praised, like the Crispy Calamari and Wild Mushroom Truffle pizza. But it may be a one-off thing and other dishes might've been more to my liking instead. My best friend raved about this place so it was worth a try. The waitress came to ask how everything was and I didn't even get to chew my food yet lol. She kept asking every time she passed by which got a little annoying. Tables were way too low, my torso isn't long but I basically had to bend to eat my food. Excellent food, atmosphere, and service for a girls night out. We started with the Rosemary and Olive bread and the meatballs. We then ordered the spicy lasagna crisp, which was by far our favorite dish of the meal. We had two pastas, the ricotta ravioli and the short rib agnolotti. The ravioli was very good but we weren't a huge fan of the short rib. The dish was well done, we just didn't enjoy the flavor of it. I really enjoyed my dinner experience at Coletta Food: we got a few different things to try. My favorite was their version of calamari and risotto. The calamari was crispy and the texture of the mushrooms inside was cooked perfectly. The outside of the calamari was perfectly crispy and not oily. The risotto was creamy and flavorful. Amazing dining experience! Our waitress was very attentive and the food was delicious. The mushroom calamari was good. Honestly, you can probably give this to a non-vegan and they won't even know it's mushroom. My reason for the low rating is that the pizza was not great. Ordered a Margherita but it was loaded with an insane amount of vegan mozzarella. Very average dough. I think they don't know how to make pizza. Need to rethink the recipe. And $24 is way too much for this slop. Staff was nice and didn't make us feel rushed. I'd consider going back to try something else. No need to get the pizza here. An ALL-VEGAN ITALIAN RESTAURANT?! Yes, please! And of course it has to be in NYC, where anything you can imagine when it comes to food is available at your fingertips! I came here on the recommendation of a friend and decided to come by on a Saturday afternoon for lunch. The entrance could have been easily missed if I had not been paying attention. Once I got seated, I was able to look through a menu with a beautiful lavender color. I knew right away I would get items that would be hard to find elsewhere as a vegan option. I ended up ordering fried "calamari", "squid" ink ravioli, and vanilla ice cream to finish. The fried calamari was absolutely delicious! It was meant to be an appetizer but I gobbled it all up like it was a whole meal! The calamari was actually mushroom, and so it had a chewy texture on the inside. The sauces it came with were tomato and oil-based. Next up was the ravioli. It didn't taste unique in any particular way, but I appreciated the dark color. It had a little bit of an umami kick to it, but again nothing to memorable except for how it looked. I was surprisingly still hungry enough for dessert! So ice cream it was. It was made with coconut milk, so the texture was super stretchy and creamy! It was topped with a cookie crumble and sauce, so all-in-all it was a lovely treat. I then learned that they have several sister restaurants---including all vegan Mediterranean, Mexican, and sushi restaurants! They are definitely on my list for the next time I am in NYC!! read more

We've traveled from Philly to go to NYC several times and had the chance to eat here for dinner twice. No matter what you order, it will be packed with some serious flavor! First let me say that I have enjoyed many meals at this restaurant, and I have ordered a lot of take out for delivery as well. I have to say that it is hard for me to write this and only give them a very average 3 stars, because I love supporting good vegan restaurants. PROS: They have a very good menu. There are high quality ingredients in most things and as an Italian American I do appreciate that my pasta has never been overcooked and the vegetables have been fresh when I have eaten there in person. The desserts are great and I often take them home. The hostesses who have greeted me at the door have been lovely. The manager has been wonderful. Some of the wait staff has been very very good. REGARDING POOR SERVICE: I was very disappointed to have gone with a group of family a few months back, who were visiting from Italy, and we tried many things, and the server was a young woman who almost never checked on us. The restaurant was actually fairly empty. She spent most of her time talking to the bartender while we were sitting in the back and she never bothered to see how we were when our food was delivered. She forgot many items and she seemed in general like she could care less. She did not have an attitude, she was just a really bad server. We still left a customary 20% because long ago I did work in the restaurant industry and I know it is not easy, but she made almost zero effort and it was not a good experience at all for us. We had to go find her several times up front with the bartender to ask for things and she still forgot them anyway. THE WORST: The thing that finally prompted me to write this review was that I have also ordered delivery from them a number of times. They are not that far from me. Yesterday I had a problem that has happened to me a number of times with similar items. I ordered a smaller non-entree arugula salad as one of my items and, as has happened in the past, the onions tasted old and pre-cut (where they have that awful refrigerator smell) and the tomatoes were in large chunks and were of terrible quality. (This has never happened in person). I can't believe anyone bothered to put either of those things on top of perfectly good arugula. If you want to pre-cut onions, I suggest soaking them in a bit of lemon juice and a touch of salt and please take those awful rinds off. To order delivery from Colettas is not cheap, and when I go there in person, the salads are always nice, but I have had this experience before with ordering certain things, especially salads, in which the staff is extremely careless with the food. I do not need to have a salad at all, and I can certainly go a block away and get a poor salad on any street in New York. This seems as if the take out prep crew is perhaps not being managed by someone properly? I really do love this restaurant but I really do wish they would smooth out these issues. As someone who usually puts extra chili flakes on pizza, I did not even think to reach for the bottle as the hot cherry peppers packed a fiery punch. My only critique is that i did not taste the truffle in the honey which could be due to the variety of other flavors in the dish. - fig jam and prosciutto pizza (7/10): house made fig jam, fresh figs, prosciutto, and arugula on a crema base drizzled with balsamic glaze. The only reason I did not like this pizza as much as the other one is because I am not used to the meaty taste and texture of prosciutto. That aside, the balance of flavors was spot on. I really liked the combination of the sweet fig with the bitter arugula. I also enjoyed how this pizza was not drowned in sauce and let both the crust and the toppings shine in balance. The vibe inside here is nice, it's intimate without feeling too tight. On a Friday night around 9p it was maybe 75% full, you could probably make it without a reservation. To start, I tried the Kiss & Tell mocktail and it was sweet & refreshing! I don't think a mocktail should be that similar in price to an actual cocktail but it sneakingly was. For appetizers, we had the steak tartare and the cheese board. I haven't actually had steak tartare before but this tastes close to how I imagine the real thing to be with the briny "caviar" on top. I really enjoyed the cheese board but my friend wasn't as much of a fan; pointing out that the cheddar wedge tasted too strongly of liquid smoke. I thought that some of the wedges were better than others with my favorite being the blue cheese. The fig jam was excellent and complimented the different cheeses well. For entrees, we had the fig & prosciutto pizza as well as the tagliatelle ragú. The pizza was a nice combination of sweet & savory with the balsamic glaze. The pizza itself could have been charred a bit more but I overall enjoyed it! The ragú was really nice, I believe they make the pasta itself fresh here. We also tried the side of the kale gratin and this was the only dish that wasn't good. It wasn't creamy at all and was oddly watery on the bottom. The kale was also too salty and it overall was hard to want to eat. We ended on dessert and the lavender dark chocolate lava cake sounded exciting but ultimately fell short as there was no discernible lavender flavor. This also wasn't really a lava cake as there was no melted chocolate in the center. There was a small scoop of some sort of chocolate cream on top and chocolate poured on the plate; but again, not actually a lava cake. Amazing is too soft a word to describe Coletta!! Vegan or not, Coletta is a MUST VISIT restaurant. The ambiance is casual and quaint. We were seated in the back as we asked for a quiet spot. However a party of 15 sat right behind us which squashed our wish for less noise! Despite this, we truly enjoyed our experience and dinner here. The entire menu is vegan which is so refreshing so there is ZERO need to modify any dishes. We started with the calamari that came with two dipping sauces. The taste and texture was perfectly satisfying. For mains I had the steak which came perfectly proportioned with mashed potatoes and 3 branches of grilled broccolini. The steak had a nice char and was easy to slice. Sort of resembles more of a pot roast than a steak in texture. This is definitely something I would order again. My husband had the hot honey pizza which I sampled. He was raving about the crust which was light and crispy. There was a nice sweetness to the pizza from the honey that balanced the spice well. Dessert was killer - the tiramasu and the limoncello olive oil cake. We had a hard time picking which one was better! I loved the refreshing taste of the lemon and my husband voted for the creaminess of the tiramisu. You cannot go wrong with either. Words cannot express how amazing this place is. My husband and I just eloped in NYC with close family and this was our pick for dinner after the ceremony. We ate here back in June and were completely obsessed. Going in a bigger group further confirmed the quality for me as I got to try a bunch of additional dishes. There wasn't a single thing I tried that I can't see myself ordering. The number one must-get in my opinion is the tiramisu. Been there twice before, great food and service. Last night, however, I was not impressed. The hostess led us to a table positioned in the middle of a busy walkway. We've dined there before and know that staff frequently pass through that area. My husband didn't even have room to place his scarf and gloves. I politely asked if we could be seated at one of two open tables by the wall (let's call them Table A and Table B). The hostess declined, saying, "Those tables are reserved. When you book, you can choose your preferred table." I explained that I had booked online twice before, and even on this occasion, there was no option to select a specific table, but she insisted it was possible. Less than a minute later, two women arrived and were seated at one of the tables I had just requested (Table A). They immediately asked if they could sit elsewhere and were told no, as those other tables were also "reserved." I approached them and asked whether they had chosen Table A when booking. They said they had not. At that point, I felt misled. I do not appreciate being lied to, especially when I've been a returning customer -- and it happened on my birthday.
