Oh Abelardo's.... Though you reside in my home town, I did not know you before I moved away, and now I'm in love. I don't know if I can deal with a long distance relationship. My wife and I were in town for 4 days, we were jet lagged and getting up at 4am each day, and Abelardo's is always open and just around the corner from where we were staying. You would think the menu would be limited at 4am... it's not, you would think the service would suck.. it didn't (usually there were two guys there), well the food must not be as fresh... well it tasted damn amazing. The only thing we didn't try on the menu was Nachos which a friend highly recommended, the normal burritos, tacos, breakfast burritos and tacittos were all great. read more

Abelardo's has absolutely addicting machaca (shredded beef, egg, bell pepper and onions, it's a great combo on torta, burrito or entree) and the wait time for the drive thru is not bad, especially for the price and quality. This location has been hit or miss (mostly miss) with the many other drive thru restaurants that tried to make it here, but it looks like Abelardo's is here to stay. If you have had Abelardo's at one of their other locations, the menu is the same here. The burritos are what they are famous for (such big portions for such a small price) but their tortas are also very good (if they get soggy a bit fast). The machaca, adobada, and pollo asado are my husband and I's favorite, but the green chile is also worth a try. The entrees can easily feed two people but getting two is nice for leftovers. The only Mexican drink at this location is the horchata which is good, if a bit sweet. Abelarado's is my favorite take out Mexican, and I will continue working through the menu, that is if I can stop myself from ordering a machaca torta. read more

I finally decided to check this small drive thru out in our neighborhood. The reviews seemed positive and I was looking to see if the food would bring back memories of when I lived in East San Diego County. I pulled up to the order board and was quickly created. Placed my order of 1/2 order of Carne Asada Nachos and was told to drive forward to the drive thru window. I did not notice initially the next guest and could not understand why someone did not greet me nor offer the cost of the order. Finally the worker did open the window and advised that the total was $7.66 which left me a bit dumb-founded. Their menu board and I just double checked their website states that "1/2 Nachos...$5.99." I asked the worker about the difference and he did not know and said all he did was hit a button on the cash register and that it what came up for the cost. As it appeared fruitless to discuss this further, I paid for the order and went home. Upon opening the nachos to eat, they looked pretty good. I was just hoping for bigger pieces of carne asada than what was there. The nachos tasted pretty good and did bring back memories of living in San Diego. The hard part is that I could not get over the fact that I was charged $6.99 plus tax versus the stated price of $5.99 plus tax. For me the extra dollar truthfully is not a big deal however, it is the principle of the matter that disappoints me the most. This place always has cars in the drive through! It's a 24 hour Mexican express drive through and it is very tasty! I work with guys that will drive miles to come to this location or one of the many other locations in Omaha. I highly recommend the green chili burrito, the carne asada burrito, and the chicken burrito. Pretty much every burrito I have had there is awesome. Stay away from the taquitos though! I absolutely love the #10 its truly amazing! I always add carrots and jalepenos to my order as it's refreshing. The location 3121 Q st, Omaha,NE has failed to put my carrots and jalapeños in my bag not once but twice. I specifically asked the woman at the window to ensure they were there. she still did not put them in the bag but I was still charged for them. I can see if they were free but please don't charge me for something and not provide it. I will not be returning to this location. p.s. I tried contacting them and the woman hanged up in my face. We recently ordered Abelardo's off of doordash and was not exactly given the experience we'd hoped. The food kind of seemed like it was "thrown together", guacamole covering the outer shell of a burrito, burnt chips that were basically inedible, and a cheesecake chimichanga that was soggy from all of the chocolate syrup and "melted" whipped cream surrounding it. It was still frozen (?), and extremely hard to cut through when eating it. Honestly just disappointed, as we had heard so many good things from friends and family. read more

It's building is so cute and adorable! Their menu needs some work as their recently raised prices marked all over it aren't very appealing. Good food as expected, hot sauce has a great kick to it. I would encourage you check your bag before leaving to make sure you have a knife and a fork if your meal may require it. I ordered a combination plate with rice and beans and no complaints about my meal. I wish I had requested the item in Chicken rather than the beef option that is the default. read more

If you are looking for fresh mexican fast food. STOP. Go here. You will not get the same quality at ANY other drive through place in town hands down. Abelardos has proven me this week after week of visits. AND: Their fried chicken tacos (only $2.39!) are some of the best tacos out of any food establishment in Omaha. Super crispy/flakey shell, juicy chicken, lettuce, and ALWAYS perfectly melted cheese. I get at least 2 every time I'm there. Now their spicy diablo burrito ($6.50ish) is something straight from California. They LOAD it with fries, beef, succulent shrimp, a spicy sauce, and all the other fixings of a surf and turf burrito. Perfect for lunch or part of dinner. It will fill you up! Honorable mentions also go to their churros ($1.29?!) that come in numerous flavors, and their toquitos, which are BEST with the guacamole and cheese added (for only $2.99 you get 3 per order) All around the only reason it isn't 5 stars is because it is a fast food place and it isn't hectors. You wouldn't think a drive thru burrito place where all the food is so cheap so be so good, but it's really the best Mexican place this side of the Kennedy Freeway. Haven't had a burrito I don't like. And they are huge! Only word of advice is do a quick check that you have all of your food before pulling off. Terrible service. Ordered nachos with chips on the side w/ no guac. Or tomatoes. The nachos were all together with guac & tomatoes. Called & asked if I could come back to get the correct order. I didn't bring the nachos that were incorrect, as I assumed due to covid, they wouldn't want them back. Got to the restaurant & they said they didn't believe me & refused to give me the new nachos. Great drive through taco spot. Don't overlook their plate dinners either, as they are excellent. Great flavors with just the right seasonings on my tacos carnitas. I'd recommend about 2 tacos for the average person. 3 for the big frame guys. I had 4. They make a homemade funky Mexican juice in 3 flavors. This place is the best taco shop around. I moved here recently from Southern California. It's not fair to compare this place to places in California. With that said the hot sauce flavors are good (red, green, and brown). I order the California burrito. Not sure if it is on the menu but it is a carne asada burrito with fries in it. The chili relleno are really good. Beans and rice are good that come with the combos. The chips are good as well. The tacos could use some work, but they aren't bad. My wife likes the quesadillas which she says are good. read more

I loooooove this place. I refer to it as "MY taco shack" when talking to friends. I lived in Phoenix for 10 years and was missing the authentic, greasy (in a great way) authentic Mexican food that was on every corner in AZ... Until I found "my taco shack". I come here a few times a week and get the shredded beef tacos and the taquitos with guac & cheese. Melt in your mouth, deliciousness that hits the spot!! I love that I can go through the drive thru any time of day (or night) without having to change out of my pajamas or get out of my car! I've only ever been to this Abelrado's, and I've had inconsistent experiences here. The wait is usually pretty long for a drive thru, but they are preparing a lot of your food there as you order, so that's forgivable for me. You can also call your order in ahead, but I've never thought ahead enough to do that yet. Anywho, overall, everything I've ever ordered here has tasted alright. Not amazing, but alright. You get quite a bit of food for the price, so that's nice. The employees are also always very friendly. My biggest issue with Abelrado's is that my food is sometimes not hot. I've tried writing it off in the past, thinking maybe I took too long munching on my nachos or taquitos, so maybe it cooled off. But there was no way around it tonight. When your cheese enchiladas are full of unmelted cheese, they were clearly never warm in the first place. It's not a huge deal, since there's no meat to worry about, but it's also not a good thing either. Once I microwaved the whole thing for a couple of minutes, all was okay.... The food at Alberado's is amazing! I can't believe how much meat they put in a burrito. I usually order the carne asada burrito, which I can get two meals from it. Otherwise Carne Asada taco comes with a Lot of flavorful grilled meat, guacamole and pico on two fresh soft white corn shells. This is easily divided between the two shells and you can get two healthy sized flavorful tacos out of it. And of course the rolled tacos with cheese are the best in town. You can't beat the price for the amount of food you get here. But always check your order before you leave because sometimes you don't quite get what you order if you are going through the drive-through. If you go inside some of the locations they have free chips and salsa as you wait. And you have to try the green cilantro avocado salsa which is spicy and delicious. But some locations don't have it or you have to go inside to get it. The pico is very heavy on red onion. read more

Living in far west Omaha, it's almost a half-hour drive to 24th Street in South Omaha IF I have a craving for the "real deal" in Mexican food. Taqueria los Compadres -- on the corner of Q and 108th Street -- is a very good alternativebut it's still a 15-20 minute haul from 202nd Street. So when I need a "quick fix" -- especially for breakfast burritos or carnitas tortas -- I stop at Abelardo's. The breakfast burrito with chorizo is especially good, and the staff has no problem when I order it "sin papas" (since I don't like potatoes). Even more telling, my son-in-law will only start his day IF he can have his breakfast burrito each morning. The carnitas tortas are also quite tasty. When comparing the fare to the dishes served by the better South Omaha Mexican restaurants, Abelardo's tends to be a bit greasier and slightly more expensive. But it's certainly less time-consuming for a hungry West Omahan than making the 50-55 minute roundtrip jaunt to South Omaha! read more
