I can not imagine a more perfect steakhouse for people. I'm Gen-X and my kids are Gen-Z and Alpha and we all love it. You need to know walking in this isn't visually 2025 steakhouse. This is the steakhouse of your father and grandfather. Simple, without the unnecessary flair and the complete focus on the food. The steak whether it prime rib, filet, NY, T-bone is spot on perfect. The sides simple but perfect. The service is unmatched, I can never recommend Drew or Marcus enough. Ignore the low review and go in knowing it will bring you right back to your childhood of the fine dining place in decor but the food that I'm 2025 is still spectacular.

Football would have me in VA trying many new things this weekend, Aberdeen Barn to name one. I knew I wanted a steakhouse and Aberdeen Barn had an early reservation before the UMD and UVA game. (Go Terps) As always, I tried the Oysters Rockefeller, they were okay, a little too broiled and slightly over cooked. My filet and baked potato were perfection! My cocktail was perfect. Joe served us and was spectacular. Staff were sweet! Ambiance is giving small town, upscale vibes. Dimly lit, ancient building, decor is screaming steakhouse. You know patrons with money are coming here but they are as casual as fresh pair of khakis. Would I recommend even with the over broiled oysters, absolutely! The steak was to die for! Service was excellent.

Aberdeen barn did not disappoint, we've been coming here for 31 yrs, we have had prime rib at other restaurants over the years, none have even compared. Our prime rib here again was perfect and melted in our mouth with each bite! James B took care of us and was spot on! See ya next time!

The only reason this didn't get a higher rating was because it was a little bland. But salt and pepper helped a little. The food was VERY TENDER!!! I would go back based on that alone. I didn't get a picture of the white chocolate raspberry cheesecake and it's probably because it was so delicious that i inhaled it so fast that i didn't even think of a picture. The staff was very nice!! I was here for work but it is a very cute date night place!!

It's an old school steakhouse, but really has seen better days. Needs a full refresh inside, and the food is mediocre.

The fried green tomatoes were crispy and dressed with an awesome spinach and corn salad. A whole meal themselves. We ordered shrimp po boy sliders that were a little spicy and sweet with Cole slaw. We got the fish sandwich, tail of two fish and wharf scramble. My fish sandwich looks substantial at first but there were more batter than fish. Every bite I am just eating the crunchy batter. The accompanying tartar sauce was delicious. Their no cost substitute is nice touch. I would say it was a decent experience but really not sure if I would go back given there are many restaurants with similar menu. Our waitress was working incredibly hard. She seems to be the only one waiter serving all the indoor tables. It was late afternoon but still. I've been to restaurants where there were 3 handling same amount of tables and not getting services.

Ordered a cucumber chamomile gin and tonic, which left something to be desired. We started with the blackberry salad which on the menu said it also included avocado but there was none on the salad-despite this the salad was great. Our mains were good but not great. The biggest issue I found here was despite our server being very nice while ordering she NEVER checked in on us after anything arrived, never refilled waters either. So although she was nice the service was not good as there were times we wanted to order something else and one of the entrees didn't arrive as it was ordered but our server never checked in. All things considered I think I would only come here to grab a salad or appetizer.

Appetizers: standing ovation to the pork belly. Everyone at the table was blown away. The gnocchi bolognese and blue crab linguine were absolutely delicious also. Dinner: the pork ribeye blew me away with the flavor, char and tenderness. 10/10. The beef filet was really good and solid but if you are looking for something outside a traditional box, order something other than the beef tenderloin. Again, perfectly cooked but, in my opinion, it is included with to satisfy those who want and steak but it doesn't showcase the chef's passion....as a certified steak lover and defaulted even though I was leaning towards the pork or chicken....I got a great meal but nothing like the pork rib eye. Desserts: sticky toffee pudding OUTSTANDING. The sorbet was way too sweet. Now service and atmosphere: service was incredible, kind, engaging, and attentive. The service was excellent throughout the meal. Our server, was absolutely lovely. She was friendly, attentive, and genuinely made us feel welcome. She was one of the highlights of the experience. We started with the steak tartare. It was decent, but a little saltier than I would have preferred. My biggest complaint was that the accompanying bread wasn't brushed with butter or olive oil, which made it feel a bit dry and out of place alongside such a rich dish. One thing that was disappointing was the portioning of the shareable sides. The menu describes them as serving 3 to 4 people, but in our experience they were much more realistically sized for about two people. That was frustrating, especially given the overall price point. For our entrees, we ordered the ribeye, bavette, and New York strip. All of the steaks were cooked well, but I found them to be good rather than great, especially considering the price point. They just weren't particularly memorable. The ribeye, in particular, leaned a bit too far toward fatty rather than beautifully marbled, so there was more unrendered fat than I would have liked. The steak sauces were enjoyable, but they also didn't stand out in any significant way. They were well made, but nothing especially unique or memorable. Overall, I enjoyed the evening, the atmosphere, and the exceptional service. However, for a steakhouse at this price point, I expected to be more impressed by the food. Everything was solid, but nothing really wowed me or left me thinking, "I can't wait to come back." It is disappointing to have buyers remorse from such a nice restaurant.

He recommended the chocolate mousse, saying he "could bathe in it." After trying it, I completely understood what he meant. It was rich, silky, and hands down one of the best chocolate mousses I've ever had. It was the perfect way to end the meal. Excellent food, great service, and a welcoming atmosphere made this an easy five-star experience. I'll absolutely be back the next time I'm in Charlottesville.
