MY 1000th REVIEW... As a Yelp review milestone, this morning I wanted to pick a mom & pop local food joint with at least 500 plus reviews and above a 4 star yelp rating. Well, I found one..."About Time Cafe" located on West Oakland Park Blvd. No outside patio but had a large seating area, cafeteria style, with four tables currently occupied with customers. This super bubbly waitress, Tabby, greeted me and told me I could sit anywhere in the gently outdated restaurant that serves breakfast and lunch comfort food. The menu items looked impressive with many interesting dishes ranging between $10 - $14. The "Eggs Your Way" for $10.49 was my choice with two eggs over medium, bacon, potatoes and whole wheat toast. My order was ready within ten minutes. Prepared my toast with a heavy coating of raspberry jelly. The eggs were cooked perfectly, loved the onions mixed with the potatoes, although the bacon could have been crisper, next time will order it well done. The bathroom was simple with no exciting decor and needed some minor attention, although, suited its purpose. Tabby alerted me to some deep discounted weekly food specials as follows: Taco Tuesday 1/2 priced Waffle Wednesday 1/2 priced Thirsty Thursday 1/2 off Mimosas Weekend Brunch Bogo Mimosas The food was fantastic and the customer service was commendable. We are still on the hunt for a good breakfast eatery. So, when we got an ad for this place in our neighborhood coupon packet, we decided to try it. It's in a small strip mall off Oakland Park Boulevard, west of Hiatus. There is lots of parking; the place is plain but clean and houses a large dining room. Hubby had the big breakfast (3 eggs, ham, bacon, sausage, hash browns, and 1/2 order of French toast) and I got the full French toast. The ham was skimpy and paper thin and looked like a piece of lunch meat sliced in two. There were 2 thin strips of bacon and 1 sausage. The hash browns were good but probably about tablespoons worth. The French toast boasted a house made strawberry sauce. We didn't see any. And, when I asked the server, she told me to lift the bread. There was a faint, red smear, and she said that was the strawberry sauce. Nevertheless, the French toast was to my liking, soaked in batter and cooked properly. It was a bit after 12 on a Sunday (after church) and the place was relatively busy with 8-10 tables filled at a time and 2 servers. Plus, one young man was cleaning tables and assisting the servers. We were fascinated watching him clear tables with multiple trips carrying the dirty items in his two hands (no tray!). We even placed bets on how many trips it would take to clear a table of four. (I won, 6 trips.) While the food was good, the items didn't fulfill the promises listed on the menu. Service was congenial as the two servers rushed about trying to get everything done in a timely fashion. Prices were reasonable. About Time Cafe had plenty of cars and plenty of space for more with plenty of room inside. It's not the fanciest place inside or out with a lot of regulars who come here. The food was a surprise. Hubby and I were in the area and in the mood for some comfort breakfast food. We decided to check this place out. For a Sunday we're glad to see there was no wait to be seated or served. Our server was very friendly and attentive. We ordered iced (espresso based) coffees and they did not disappoint! If you like your coffee to taste like coffee then these are a must try! For our meals, everything looked amazing but we ultimately decided in the big ol breakfast because it came with a little bit of everything. Was looking for a small breakfast cafe and stumbled upon this one, now I absolutely love it. The French toast was delicious soft and you can add fruit to them. My partner ordered the home fries and I couldn't help but steal them, they were so good. Everything tastes home-y and the staff is very polite and kind. Service was very fast despite coming during a rush hour. The place gives small town diner and I loved it. A nice breakfast place for sit down morning meal. The ambiance is like a northern diner style. A lot of seating an available in the morning. I highly recommend this time as service is quick and you can get to work timely. The food is fresh and well made. I enjoy the lumberjack dish. There are two buttermilk pancakes with Strawberries cut up on top, whipped cream and Strawberry Purée. So, instead of being $4.99 for 3 pancakes, it's $9.99 for 2 pancakes. You read that right. No eggs or bacon or anything. Just two pancakes. I ordered it due to the server informing me that it was 3. Still pricey, but the food here is really good. Apparently, today was the first day for the updated menu. The server was misinformed. I was disappointed when I got home to find only two. I called back to the store and explained and the manager compensated me 10% on my next meal. I appreciate the good customer service. Also, not a fan of this pricing. 2 pancakes for $9.99? I will not pay this again. We had great staff waiting on us. Kind and checked in often to make sure we had everything. All-in-all, a great experience. I do think the pricing could use a review. On the hunt for a good breakfast spot, and glad I found About Time Cafe. It has a nice homey country diner feel. The staff was friendly and welcoming. They have a pretty good variety of choices for breakfast and offer a decent lunch menu. And a special brunch menu served all day Saturday and Sunday. I didn't go for much this time around, just ordered the Belgian waffle, which was nice and tasty. French Toast and a side of bacon was also ordered, and no complaints given there! Decided to bring my family of 6 here for a spontaneous Sunday brunch. Walked in around 12noon, didn't have to wait only but 2 minutes for the staff to put two tables together to for our family. Hostess greeted us with such a welcome and friendly tone. Covid Precautions: tables are spaced out far enough from each other. Staff is wearing masks and when you enter masks are enforced as well. Also, I noticed that after every party the staff clean the entire table even the linen is changed out. Our waitress was very friendly and even took time to explain the brunch mimosa option and a few menu items. Our food was brought out fairly quickly and great temperature. Only downside was the waitress never came around for refills, came by once right after the food was brought to the table, then again after we requested the tab. Food was great, delicious. The breakfast tacos are huge; probably could feed two people. I highly recommend the breakfast fries. They were seasoned amazingly and super tasty. Grits were okay, too much pepper for my liking. French toast were fluffy and drizzled with strawberry dive and served with fresh berries. Overall, I would definitely come again and looking forward to trying the lunch menu next time! read more

Had this restaurant on my list for a while! Wanted a quick breakfast, so decided to try someplace new! When I entered, there is a foyer with no one at the hostess stand, so I walked in the restaurant. I was politely greeted by the one waitress they had on the floor & told to sit anywhere. The restaurant itself needs some upgrades. It's a bit dated & had a moldy smell inside. I had the Mexican bowl with scrambled eggs & chicken sausage, instead of over easy eggs & chorizo. There was an extra charge to substitute the chorizo & u get the chicken sausage as a side order. They were out of avocados, which it's supposed to come with. The meal needed seasoning, so I added salt & hot sauce to it. I didn't bother to eat the stale/dry looking tortilla chips it came with. I also ordered orange juice, which was not particularly sweet & had a watered down taste to it. The highlight was the service by the 1 waitress! She was pleasant & attentive & made small talk with me. There r so many good diners & breakfast/brunch spots in Broward to choose from, so there is no need to add this one to my list! read more

This was a stop made after reading other yelp reviews. Upon inital inspection the restaurant has the typical greesy spoon type vibe with an obvious focus on their coffee selections. The service was great, waitress was on point and not over the top but still attentive. Everything ordered was enjoyed by our party. I had an expresso and it was delicious. As we enjoyed our meal we were fortunate enough to have some outside friends to watch. Overall, the price was appropriate for the meal and the food was decent. read more

2-4-22 Friday Beautiful sunny day in South Florida where to have lunch out. I go to my trusted Yelp and discover this place. Nice small strip center on the end with parking out front. We arrived at noon and there was one other couple seated in a booth having breakfast. Guess South Florida really likes there breakfast but I want lunch lol. We check the menu and once again me and my colleague pick the same thing BLTA. It is a traditional BLT with avocado. You have a choice of fries or tater tots. We chose the tater tots and got a ramekin of ketchup. The sandwich was very good as well as the tots good to the last morsel. My colleague had the Mexican Coke I opted for water and lemon. I didn't get a chance to find out about the pizza I read about online. There were none on the menu and a killer oven when you walk in the door. Definitely would come back someday to eat. Quaint and efficient cafe, perfect for brunch. There displayed brunch specials on the table, but also breakfast and lunch on the menu. You definitely won't have a problem finding something to eat - everything is available. The service is pleasant and seems to be confidently busy, but not over crowded. I've been here two times in the last month and but experiences were great. Service is super friendly and attentive. Charles walks around seeing how everything is going at the tables and I only had accolades for him! The first time we came in we took advantage of the BOGO Mimosa. Just a basic Mimosa but they offer different juices. The coffee is hot and fresh. I had the Mexican bowl the first time and it was so fresh and delicious. My daughter had the BLTA and the bacon aioli puts the sandwich over the top on flavor! So good! This time I tried the Huevos Rancheros and everything was great.. the beans, the tostada, the green sauce, eggs, and pico de gallo all complimented each other and my mouth was very happy. My boyfriend enjoyed his chicken fried steak which I normally find very dried out but here the steak was juicy. I am dying to try out the s'mores pancakes so I have to get down this way again soon. Checked out this place randomly. A very cute little spot for brunch. I ordered the shrimp avocado toast which was very yummy. Although the look of the shrimp had me very hesitant, it looked as if it was only steamed but once I tasted it, it seemed as though it had been seasoned in a citrus flavored marinade which really taste good. I think that seeing some grill marks and even a paprika garnish would've made it looked a bit more appetizing. I also ordered the eggs your way and opted for grits. The grits were ok, needed a little bit of salt and pepper for my liking. The peach Bellini was very good. Based on Luz's review about this place, I had to check out it out once Mid-term was over! Long story short: I let Luz ( a very sweet Yelper) know I would come here once I am done with Midterms. She wished. me good luck on the midterms. Above average food. COVID procedures were in place. Four of us stopped for breakfast after a red eye from Las Vegas. Three of us had a good experience. Well, they could have made the bacon more crispy but the eggs, French Toast, breakfast potatoes and hash browns were all good. The issue was that a person in our party is allergic to onions and the server was told that when we sat down. But when she got her plate with the omelette and potatoes, there were onions on the plate. BIG no-no. Also what's so hard about toasting bread on both sides? The owner did come out and apologize about the onions and the toast and promised it wouldn't happen again. Very nice owner. read more

We had a poor experience a year ago (long wait time and undercooked food), but we really wanted to give this place another shot. Wow, what a mistake. The 10 minute quoted wait time, mushroomed to an hour. Keep in mind that their were multiple open tables. Once seated, we immediately placed our order. We waited. And waited. And waited. During this time a party of 8 young men arrived and were seated. Their order was taken. Somehow, our order was placed behind theirs (per the waitress) and they were served. We waited. And waited. Two tables who were waiting got up and left. Eventually our food arrived. Soggy, cold and inedible. The food quality was equivalent to animal feed. The service was horrendous. Save your time and head to a place that knows what they are doing like Coral Springs Diner. Avoid this place at all cost. read more

This location used to be Ally's Comfort Cafe's second location. However they sold this location and the new owners renamed it. When we arrived for breakfast one morning we noticed the name change on the outside. We didn't know it had been sold so went in to scope it out. The place & menu seemed the same so we took a seat and ordered. Sadly the service nor the food was the same. But this time was different, someone picked up the phone and told us that they were open for dine-in! We were so exited to hear that! We came here this morning for a quick breakfast before i went to work and it was quiet, clean and not busy at all, which was lovely. Parking is ample out front and it is tucked in the corner of a small plaza not too far from sawgrass mall. The staff are nice and the menus are in a bold print, easy to read and not super long, they are also disposable. I ordered the eggs Sunny side up with bacon and home fries: bacon was thick and crispy, eggs perfectly cooked and the home fries were crisp on the outside and tender inside. Everything tasted fresh and my partner got the Mexican bowl: chorizo, salsa, eggs, potatoes and avocado, served with crisp light tortilla chips and he enjoyed it. The quality is great and it shows. This is definitely a nice quiet location to have a super chill breakfast to enjoy your food and company. I'll definitely be making another early morning visit. read more

I was misled by a friend that had me thinking this place was going to be a disaster. It wasn't. It's a rather cozy neighbourhood restaurant that offers breakfast and lunch till about 3pm. I found the place to be clean, the service above average and portion sizes in line with the prices that they are charging. You can modify most things. Very friendly bunch of people in there. You shouldn't have any issues with parking as there is plenty. The speed of order to delivery was impressive. If you like a nice American breakfast type place then this shouldn't let you down.
