Classic breakfast and lunch with a classic look. You definitely take a travel back in time stepping into this jewel. This place is hidden away in Hollywood and Taft. The Ambiance is very welcoming and service is top. classic diner food with great price. We will definitely be stopping back in the near future.

One thing you can't deny about Taft Street Cafe is that the staff works incredibly hard. They were running around at top speed, managing a very large crowd of diners. I wish their hard work translated to excellent customer service and delicious food, but the whole experience left us underwhelmed. The first thing you notice when you walk in is the dated decor. Dont get me wrong, the place is clean, it's just more of a dive than a diner. More important than the ambiance is the food. None of it was seasoned at all, not even with salt and pepper. I'm not sure what that sauce was on the eggs benedict, but it surely was not hollandaise. Plus, the English muffin wasn't even toasted. It was so off-putting that when my husband gave me a bite, I wanted to spit it out into a napkin. He was hungry, so he ate it. We would have mentioned something to our server, but nobody ever came back to check on us after the food was dropped off. I ordered the spinach and feta omelette that was on special. The omelette was way overcooked and so dry that it split in half (a clean break) when they tried to fold it. This place has all the classic dishes and it looked like it was well supported by the locals. I'm sure it's fine by most standards, but as frequent visitors to the area, the food just wasn't good enough to earn a repeat visit.

Tuna Salad Deluxe

Have you ever been in the mood, for a good ol' classic tuna salad sandwich? Taft Street is just that. Classic, friendly and efficient! Just close your eyes and picture yourself in an 80's dinner restaurant. No frills and thrills, just good tasty food! Total meal cost $13.10!! Tuna salad was delicious, French fries were cooked just right (no oily or greasy after taste), coleslaw was fresh and also full of flavor. Don't expect a fancy place but do expect it to be clean and surrounded by memorabilia from the 80's including all decor. If you're in the area, swing by but you do need to come early. Everyday of the week from 7am-3pm. Plus they serve breakfast all day!

The staff is friendly and attentive. My coffee cup never went empty. The customer service is top notch and the food makes you feel like your grandma made it for you. Excellent all around.

Great customer service, food is good had the to tuna melt, outdated furniture and walls but feels good going back in the past.

As soon as you walk in, it feels homie; you're welcomed by smiles and staff ready to serve. Very casual environment, with tables inside and a couple outside. The meat is freshly sliced right in front of you, and sometimes even tossed down the line to hook up somebody else's sandwich. And talk about a packed hoagie?? Loads of meat and all the fixins you want! Definitely worth the $10 do that small. Also reasonable price points for a combo sub to quick pick up for you or the kids. I also had the Mexican Street corn chicken sub ( not pictured) which was surprisingly good. I ordered the 8" Italian as that's the benchmark sub I like to judge. The sandwich had excellent flavor. They were not shy with the oregano, salt, pepper, vinegar and oil which set a delicious foundation for the fresh vegetables and Italian meats (ham salami and cappicola). They have a unique way of constructing the sandwich that keeps the overfilled contents in place which is awesome. As you can see in the picture, the meat to bread ratio is on point. Not sure if it beats my favorite (sub center) but I highly recommend giving this place a try when you're in South Florida. Overall this was an excellent sub.

One thing to note, I was not greeted at the door or counter. I was also not given a goodbye when leaving, again not a deal breaker. But I do appreciate a welcoming or a "what can I get started for you?". I placed my order and was given a number to wait to be called, wait time around 10-15 minutes. The dining room was dated, but had a sub shop aesthetic to it. Tables were very clean, business did not seem dirty at all! Now to the food: Mozzarella Sticks: Not crispy, not fresh, NO CHEESE PULL, a tad freezer burner and had a flavor of a dirty grill. I ate them all (big back). But these were by no means average, well below. The marinara was too chunky to dip into and was not fresh. ~ 6/10 Parmesan Chicken Cutlet Sandwich: Bread was tasty, toasted and fresh. Same marinara was used for the sandwich. Chicken was cooked well (tender), wish it was a little crispier though. The chicken could use a little more seasonings. The cheese was cheese, nothing bad about it. At the time of ordering I felt the price was high ~ $16 for the sub, but the portions match it. Good job here. Still a little freezer burned flavor in the sandwich. I'm willing to give them another shot with something a little more traditional of a sub shop!

I am Vietnamese born in the States and grew up Philadelphia and Northern Virginia, both places that have a sizeable Vietnamese population, so I spent most of the last few years wondering where good Vietnamese food is around Miami. Well, a few minutes inside and we already knew this place is legit. It's small but comfortable, the staff is attentive, and the food is authentic. My wife and I started with the banana blossom chicken salad which came with a perfectly seasoned sweet fish sauce (in case you're wondering, banana blossom is not sweet or fruity but has a slightly floral slightly earthy flavor like a mild artichoke). I got the Com Ga Ninh Kieu, which is similar to a Hainan chicken if you're familiar with that - yellow poached chicken is served with rice thats cooked wiht the chicken juices and broth, topped with crispy fried onions (or shallots, I forgot) and a side of sweet ginger-y fish sauce; the meat was juicy but still packed with flavor. My wife got the chicken pho, which came with the same juicy and simple but tasty chicken, and a broth that wasn't too salty but still packed with chicken flavor. The food was all delicious and reminded me of the same no-frills tasty cooking that my family grew up with in Philadelphia; even the veggies on the side were legit. To my surprise after reading online, the owners actually immigrated to Philadelphia before eventually relocating to Florida! My only wish is that this place was closer to downtown Miami so I could come try the rest of the menu.

I must say that they keep the temperature warm... I am always cold in restaurants and I was not cold here- and the kitchen side was definitely hot. As far as the food: everything is cooked to order, so do expect a delay in service. One side of the table was eating and finished before the food for the other side of the table came out: we were a table for 8; so expect to stay a while and have plenty of conversation time before your food arrives... but you will see that it is super fresh and delicious.
