i called in to get a quote on an O2 sensor replacement, and jenny on the phone asked "which cylinder bank?" to someone that knows a bit about cars, that was a great question, because i was able to give her the bank and sensor information to generate an accurate quote. i already had purchased an O2 sensor before going to the shop and they confirmed that i bought the correct sensor and that the one in my car was indeed failing. they installed it super fast, and after over 300 miles of driving since the repair, the check engine light has not come back. these guys are great read more

These people are amazing. I'm a woman and have zero knowledge about cars but above auto care went and above and beyond to help. My car had stopped turning on shortly after a visit to Jiffy Lube and I've been dreading to get it looked at after I found out that it was my starter package that needed to be fixed not my battery. Von and the person that works up front were amazing and took care of it right away. I'm definitely using their services again and will be bringing all of my cars only here for service from now on. I LOVE this place! They are honest & ethical - a rare find in any business these days! Recently I took my car in for a smog check for an problem. They diagnosed a fuel pump issue & gave me an estimate. I made an appointment to have it done a few days later. When I went in they did a few more tests "just to be sure" that was the real issue. Come to find out all I needed was a new hose. I spent 1/5 of the original estimate! They could have gone with the original quote & made a LOT more money, but they were honest & ethical! Then today I was back because my car was making a horrible nose. Come to find out I had a large stick stuck in the springs. They took it out, which wasn't as easy as it sounds, and checked to see if there was damage. This took all of 15 minutes, which isn't a big deal - but it is - and they refused to charge me! I REALLY wanted to like this place because it has good reviews, it is right by my work, and the price is great. I left there happy because the customer service seemed good and they were pretty quick. However, they did not fill my fluids. I had even specifically told them my wiper fluid was out, asked them to make sure they filled it, and when they told me they were finished I asked once again to verify they had filled the fluids. I found that the wiper fluid was still empty, and my coolant light went on shortly after. When I returned to have them check it, they confirmed that the coolant was low as well, and filled them. They admitted their mistake and apologized. However, filling fluids is a key component of an oil change, and forgetting is simply not acceptable. I will not be going back. read more

I have gone here for oil changes a few times, and due to the service I received from the front desk attendant Jenny who is always welcoming, pleasant, and very courteous; to the honesty of the automotive technicians, I knew that if ever I had a more serious situation I would consider them. The time came, my car was making a growling sound, (my car sounded like a motor cycle) after the diagnosis, "Will" the Technician that helped me that day, took me and showed me what the problem was. I needed inner and outer tie rods as well as new wheel bearings. I am thinking great, these things are covered under my extended warranty, let us set up the appt. Thus, the day comes for me to get my car repaired, and low and behold the company that ensures my extended warranty, wants to give ACC, a hard time. I am LIVID, however the staff(Vuong specifically) at ACC remained calm and professional and dealt with all the bureaucracy the company seemed to be dishing, while keeping me calm in the process (smile) and explaining to me why things were the way they seemed at that moment. Nevertheless, after all the red tape, I was able to get my car repaired. NO more noises and my car handles like a dream thus far. To conclude another BONUS is, the car ride made available to those whose car repair may be a bit lengthy. They will drop you off and pick you up if you do not want to wait in the lobby. The name is a true representation of the service that you will receive; they truly go above (and beyond) car care. Customer service at this location has really declined. Don't come here - they can't be trusted. If this is how they treat customers now - imagine how they treat your car. Unfortunately very poor customer service experience. The "owner" was rude - and when I told him I didn't appreciate it, literally said that if I "didn't like his rudeness, I could go somewhere else?" To top it off - he then loudly shared with two people in his office the disagreement we had while I was waiting for me vehicle. I am not deaf - I hope lost business is worth your venting and unprofessionalism. I used to bring both vehicles to his business. It is clear he does not value repeat business and underestimates the number of people I have referred to his business because of previous good experiences. Of course people who have negative experiences are more likely to shares this with many other friends and acquaintances. read more

I used to change my own engine oil, and I absolutely baby my car. So, not having time to do engine oil change, I researched hard to try this place out. (Caveat: I am picky with my mechanics... very.) Overall, I'll not let them work on my car. Driving out of the place, I had feeling that my car was in mediocre hands. I'm not saying they're crooks, but I'm not convinced with their skills or attention to details. I had mechanics or places that definitely deserve glaring 4~5 star reviews, but this place is faaar from such quality. Just barely acceptable oil change place for those who don't name their cars. Pros: They changed the oil... I guess. Waiting area was okay. Cons: 1. Lack of attention to details. I have custom cooling system, with a special coolant. (I carry extra in case I need to top off.) My coolant cap has huge STOP sign, with specific instruction not to add normal coolant. However, they apparently don't bother to read such warning sticker. My heart sank when they said they topped off liquids. I would be so much more comfortable if they mentioned that they noticed the sign, and stopped there. Instead, I was fortunate that the coolant level was high, and they left it alone (or so they said.) You pay good money to get engine oil changed, you expect them to work as knowledgeable professionals- and that includes taking a few seconds to read any warning sign stickers on your car. They could have costed me hundreds dollars worth of damage by mixing coolants. 2. Mediocre communication. I have no clue what they really did, or was going to do. It was hard enough figuring out if they topped off my coolant or not. Rather dodgy answers- just straight out yes or no would suffice. Instead, "if the coolant level was high, we leave it alone." So... did you add your coolant or not? SO NOT comfortable with such non-answers. I experienced places where they tell you what oil filters they used. Here, they might have just used Walmart filters as far as I can tell. read more

Really nice and friendly service. Had to stop by here for a quick oil change while at work. Quick and I must say, they know what they are doing! The prices are beyond reasonable.. I got an oil change for under $30! They even gave me a discount for checking in from Yelp. They have a list of pricing for tune-ups and other services... and they are not bad! Surprisingly awesome experience. You might not find this place easily given that it is tucked away behind a car dealership and another mechanic shop; I was skeptical that they would charge me a lot or try to get me to spend money on something I didn't need. The reason I came in was that my car was making a horrible screeching sound and this place had good reviews and was close to home, so I decided to give them a chance. One of the mechanics Jenny was nice and sincere, definitely more friendly than the guys at Firestone. They charged me nothing to find out what the problem was and when they did the owner actually took me to the garage to SHOW me what was wrong and broke everything down barney style. I'm the type that usually has a lot of questions and the owner definitely encouraged that and wanted to help me understand what was wrong with my car. He explained that my brake pads and rotors were on their last legs and the noise I was hearing was metal on metal contact, I didn't want to believe it because I recently had my oil changed at Concord Honda and they gave me an inspection sheet that said my brake pads were good! Still he did not tell me I HAD to get it done with him, he just wanted to make sure I was in the loop in case I took it to someone else. I was in a tough spot, I didn't want to risk damaging my car by driving around to get a second opinion but I knew that Concord Honda may not have actually checked because they were super busy that day and it took them 3 hours to get my oil changed, and the fact was my car WAS making a sound so there was definitely something wrong. I agreed to get it done but I couldn't leave my car there all day so had to schedule it Saturday. It was done fairly quickly and when it came time to pay I asked for a cash discount and they gave me 10% off :) It was about 250 to have this done but I no longer hear the screeching sound and at the very least they warranty the pads for 12k miles or 1 year so thats comforting to know. Overall I was pleased with their non pushy diagnostics and friendly mechanics. read more

My car limped all the way from LA to NoCal and It was scary driving it here but I had to start a new job in the bay area. So after I got my first paycheck I took my car to "ABOVE CAR CARE." This is a family owned business with out standing customer service and they do go "ABOVE AND BEYOND" for their costumers! My car is back and it feels like a different car! Took my car here recently as a comparison to my regular mechanic because this shop is closer to my house and I went here on a recommendation. This mechanic said a bunch of stuff was wrong with the car that my regular mechanic could not verify. I then took the car to a THIRD mechanic, being skeptical of my REGULAR mechanic and this one. Third mechanic said nothing requires replacement, leading me to believe that this shop is just after your money. JUST the type of mechanic I aim to avoid! read more

I have never written a review but I had to for Above Car Care. I just happened to come across this place are they are hands down EXCELLENT!!! Great customer service and so friendly. They are very honest and will not try to sell you on anything other than what is needed. I have come here twice and will definitely come again and recommend them to my friends and family. They have always taken are of me and my car. This is my go to anytime I need something fixed for my car or just a simple oil change. The shop is hidden but there is a sign on the street, don't get discouraged, you will not be anything less that satisfied with their service!!! read more

Looking for a new shop for oil change and other auto work. Found Above Car Care as highly rated in yelp so decided to give them a try. They were professional, helpful, honest, and friendly. When asked how I found them since I was a first time customer and mentioned yelp, they offered a $10 yelp discount for my oil change. I got a full synthetic oil & filter change for under $60 which was afair deal. The shop is a little hard to find since it's behind a used car dealership but the facilities and waiting area is top notch. They do all repairs except for tire replacements so I will be back for more than oil change. They also texted me for a follow-up to make sure everything was fine, thanked me for my business, and to contact them if there are any issues. Highly recommended. read more

I went to Above Car Care this afternoon, and the experience could not have been better! My wife advised me that her oil light had come on in her Mercedes, but the oil had been changed only 1700 miles ago. I assumed that an oil change would be necessary, but the technician advised that they would just add oil. When he completed his work, he asked that I follow him to our car and he showed me on a diagnostic computer that he had filled the motor with the proper synthetic oil to the correct fill point. He the advised that the car took slightly less than 2 quarts - but that he was only going to charge me for one. I was amazed that for SEVEN DOLLARS I received such honest and professional attention !! It is nice to know that such a trustworthy and competent business exists - I will be back, I will tell all my friends, and this is my first Yelp review for everyone else. read more

I took my Acura for service at Above Car Care after being screwed up by others and alas,my experience was fantastic.They discovered my passenger axle already broke and could give way at anytime.They showed me this and I have been having this weird noise from that side when making a turn.In fact,the previous place I took my car in for service didn't mention anything to this effect. I took the car in on a Sunday so they could work on it the following Monday.They never disappointed and man, what a change?The car handles better than ever and to top off their excellent customer service,I received a follow up call the third day to check on the car.This was a rare/pleasant experience.Thank you Von.
