Probably the best Lebanese food I've had, but with Greek flair. I got the chicken lule kabob plate with the tabbouleh and the cucumber yogurt, which was basically a tzatziki. Both sides were extremely fresh and added a nice tartness to the meal, which was a welcome relief. Let's talk about the lule kabob. It was juicy and extremely well seasoned. It packed a PUNCH. The owner mentioned he used Greek seasoning, and it's the most flavorful lule kabob I've had, which are in my experience usually dry and one-note when it comes to spices. The rice was well cooked as well, finished with olive oil and a little salt. Honestly, one of the best meals I've had in the area. If I lived here I'd be back weekly. read more

Lamb and chicken had good flavor, yogurt dill sauce was good, and the salad was very flavorful and refreshing, though I was hoping for a bit more greens. It's a more traditional mediterranean salad with cucumbers, tomato, herbs, etc. I wish they had more veggies, like a grilled veggie option with zucchini, bell peppers, mushrooms. My boyfriend and I were excited to try a new mediterranean place since its vegan(him) friendly and meat lover friendly (me). I got the beef shawarma plate with tabbouleh salad and hummus. The beef was so hard and salad looked a day or so old, not very vibrantly green. My boyfriend liked his falafel and both sides (hummus and babaganoush). We got here early on weekday and found parking in front, there is also parking in back but kinda small. One person taking order and is also the one serving food. So be patient. We ordered the plates which comes with two sides it's a lot of food. I ate half and had the rest the next day. Really cute interior they also have outdoor seating. Good to try them out. read more

We found this place by chance and chance rules. A hidden gem north of the 210 freeway. The area can get a little challenging on certain nights, but it is worth the challenge for down home cooking is spot on. All proteins are tender and marinated with care. The three different dipping sauces (love the garlic) are a perfect compliment. Will definitely refer friends and come back any time for great food, service and atmosphere. read more

This was our second 5-star visit in 2 weeks. Last time, we ordered for pickup. This time we ate there. Stelios was there, always with a smile and good humor. Today we tried: *Spinach pie - served piping hot out of the oven, crispy delicate dough with fresh spinach and herbs baked inside. *Chicken kabob - (a la carte order is one huge long kabob!) delicious minced chicken meat with herbs, grilled on open flame to perfection. Tender and juicy. *Lentil soup - honestly didn't expect it to be this good. So much flavor and even a little kick to it. Perfect for this cold, gray Pasadena day. *Lule kabob and chicken thigh plate - this was a repeat from 2 weeks ago because it's just that good. Served with fluffy yellow rice, 2 sides (we chose mutabel & cucumber yogurt). Next time, we're going to try the moussaka and one of their salads. This is a hidden gem on Lake. We decided to give Abu Kabab a try. No exaggeration, this is probably my new favorite restaurant in the area - definitely in my Top 3. The food is fresh and you can tell they use quality ingredients. yummy! This was the best Chicken Shawerma Plate I've ever had! Portion is very generous and the chicken is juicy and tender. You can definitely share this, but I chose to have the leftovers all for myself the next day. Hubby was hungry and ordered the chicken thigh with beef filet. We didn't know the portion was gonna be that huge and he added a chicken lule. Everything tasted even better the next day. For sides we had: 2x hummus, tabouleh, babaganoush (matabal). The only thing I would note is the tabouleh had too much lemon juice the day we went, it was a bit tart for our taste. However, if you mix it with the rice then it's kinda just right! We also wanted a salad with one of our entree, but we got rice instead. No worries, we will save carb free for another day! read more

We love Abu Kebab! We've been back to this food establishment 3 times now and each visit never fails to amaze us-the food and service were first class every time. Did I also mention about the very nice serving ware used? I have to mention: the Beef lule is extremely addictive-I've always ordered the beef lules at all Kebab joints and the one served here, at Abu Kebab is the best! I'm not exactly sure what it is they do different, but I suspect it's the spices! The shirazi salad deserves mention-it's served fresh and cold; the crunch in the cucumbers do not lie! The lentil soup is very delicious too. Last to mention: the chicken shish is extremely mouthwatering. To top it off: the owner/chef personally delivers excellent customer service. Amazingly DELICIOUS 5 piece lamb kebab, with yummy sides of tabbouleh and hummus. Comes with rice and pita. Excellent value, better food than other places, at a more reasonable cost! Ordered to go in case I didn't finish big portion which was smart. They play my favorite middle eastern music on the patio and delivered our "to go" order to our table very graciously. The food portions here are huge and worth the price! I wanted to support a small business rather than get CAVA and i'm really glad I went here because it's authentic and so much better! The guy who took my order was very kind and patient. He brought out our food and was so polite, he even boxed our food for us afterwards :) I felt welcomed here and the place itself was really nice inside. Sho' am good ! Back in the day...when I was toddler my mother was amazed on how much food I would eat. She said I that I often said " all gone gone Mommy" after I cleaned my plate. The aggressive eating still continues and I think her and think to myself " All gone gone Mommy". The lamb kebabs tonight from Abu Kebab on Lake Street were fabulous. My husband and I have officially found our new favorite Mediterranean restaurant. Abu Kebab is truly something special and a gem in the Pasadena food scene. Finding places to eat that truly feel like you're having an authentic home cooked meal is an important quality to me, and Abu Kebab excels at this. The environment and service is warm and welcoming to say the very least. I believe the owner was who helped my husband and I and he was so helpful and friendly. Much to my surprise, the majority of the menu is without gluten, which is truly a gift. We ordered a side of falafel and a chicken thigh & beef lule combo plate with hummus and tabbouleh. Tabbouleh is one of my favorite foods, but I haven't had it in so long since I went to gf and typically it has bulgar wheat in it. Abu Kebab doesn't use bulgar wheat, so I was excitedly able to indulge. The meats are absolutely incredible. I am not certain how they are seasoned, but the flavor is so good, and I cannot say I've had any meat that tastes similar. Abu Kebab is a stand out restaurant and deserves all the praise. Abu Kebab defies all of your expectations of taste in the best ways. Lentil soup is surprising. Chicken breast (usually dry at other restaurants) is moist and delicious. Garlic and hot sauces made from scratch. The owners are so kind humble and friendly. I'd eat here every week if I could resist eating all the yummy rice and pita bread. 150% recommend! read more

This is the best kebab in Pasadena, hands down. The quality of the meat is top tier and the marinations are very flavorful, but not overpowering. This restaurant gets high marks for great Mediterranean cuisine. I had the beef Shawarma and it was delicious. The beef was authentically seasoned, and you could tell it was freshly prepared, not some frozen and thawed meat product. The hummus was so creamy and flavorful. The portions were generous. The baklava was also freshly prepared with a light, flaky crust. The restaurant was very clean and decorated in a somewhat industrial chic look. Service was very attentive. The location is very visible as you drive north or south on Hill. Parking is available in a number of different areas. They have their own parking lot alongside the edge of the building. There is also street parking that is usually available along the side street. Upon entering the patio area of this building you will notice outside seating with umbrellas. The Mediterranean Grill is located in suite 101. When you enter you walk through the inside seating to the counter to place your order. I had a number of questions concerning their menu and the gentleman at the register was very helpful in giving me suggestions of different dishes I might enjoy. I ordered a number of items so that I could get an understanding of their menu. I decided to order three items. A salad and two dinners. As I sat down to wait for my order, a staff member brought over a small salad and a small bottle of water for me to enjoy while I was waiting. I found out that the salad was a shirazi salad. It was bright and refreshing. The lemon and olive oil dressing was perfect along with the chopped onions, marinated cucumber, tomatoes, and parsley. Enjoyable! I picked up my carefully packaged order and was on my way home. I was eager to try some new flavors. The aroma of the food was still present as I opened each of the three items. The Greek salad with chicken had a great flavor. There were large chunks of lightly fried chicken pieces, with fresh cucumbers, feta cheese, olives, lettuce, onions, with their special olive and lemon dressing. This salad is a full meal, very satisfying. The chicken platter with white meat included rice, a marinated cucumber salad, a tomato, and jalapeno. I had a choice of with seeds or without and I decided to spice it up and ordered with the seeds. There is definitely a lot of food . then one dinner. I found out that it tasted good the next day. Their special sauce is amazing. The beef skewer was very tender and filled with flavor. The meat had been marinated and tasted great both warm and cold the following day, as did the other items. I was so intrigued by the menu that I went again for the gyro roll and the falafel platter. Both were well worth the return visit. Highly recommend the flavorful food at Mediterranean Grill! Their service, recipes, and food are well worth the visit. I look forward to returning to experience more items on the menu.

The host and the owner greeted us and after a brief visit to the restroom we were seated at our table on the balcony/terrace. Alex, our waiter greeted us and swiftly brought back 2 glasses of prosecco and water. We comfortably eased into an order of fried smelts and a shared pear salad. Immediately we realized we had found a gem. The food is simple, pure and honest. We imagined a future visiting sitting with an order of these smelts and a few beers watching a proper Serie A Fútbol match. After an impulsive order of fresh pita bread(highly recommended) our main courses arrived. Grilled branzino and the Lamb shank. These dishes elevated to a simple perfection with the complex flavors of dried fruit, almonds and couscous accompanying a confidently prepared lamb. A robust California Cabernet provided the perfect compliment to this old world classic. The branzino was glazed and touched respectfully with lemon and grilled to a perfect gentle shimmer. This is the best fish we've had in years. Clearly a new favorite, we enjoyed a surprise piece of flourless chocolate cake with espresso and cappuccino. Special thanks to this delightful place and their wonderful staff. We look forward to sharing visits in the future with friends and family.

It was 12:09 and the restaurant was empty when I ordered a chicken sandwich with no tomato and no onion. My order was made incorrectly, and to make matters worse, two customers who came in after me and ordered full and half chickens received their food well before I did. I also paid for an extra side of pickles, which was completely left out of my order. Meanwhile, several employees were just standing around talking. Overall, really disappointing service today.
