Our party of over 26 people attended dinner last night and Bianca blew us away. She was awesome. Very attentive to all of us and our food was delivered nice and hot. The team at Abuelos blew us away. Happy hour drinks were $5.00. Raspberry hibiscus margaritas yummy. Out appetizers were yummy and we had a great time. Thank you. We will be back.

Having passed by many times on my way to the Chandler Mall, this was my first time in and probably my last. Although the location is odd (in a shared parking lot with Walmart), the décor and ambiance are regal in a casino buffet way. We made a reservation for our party of 5 on a Sunday evening, although I don't know that it was necessary; people were being seated without reservations. Complimentary chips and salsa are always a nice touch. They were good; the assortment of 3-4 salsas was nice. Our party ordered various chicken enchilada combos ($18-22) and I had the chicken tampiquena ($22) and blackberry mint mojito. While the portions are large (enough for leftovers), flavors are average. Fiancé felt his crispy beef taco was something he could make at home and my aunt preferred the cilantro lime rice at Chipotle Iol. The blackberry mint mojito was fresh, and it was nice they brought out the shaker! We were too full to try any of the desserts. As most Yelpers have summed it up, Abuelo's is your average Tex-Mex. Bring friends/family here who enjoy a nice ambiance and aren't picky about great taste.

Really enjoyed my solo lunch here, which came out to about $20, without a drink. This Chile Relleno version was deep fried and one of the best I have had. Filled with cheese and served with good rice and addictive beans. The other item was the shredded beef enchilada and that was above average. I also liked the hot chips and all three salsas were very good. The green version was my favorite. Nice restaurant as well.

Our dinner plans changed and we ended up at the bar for our meal. The bartender was engaging, provided great service and fair food recommendations...but his strength was his ability to make great drinks! I had a smoked orange infused margarita was was unique and went down with no problems. My husband went with the house margarita on the rocks and found it to be tasty. For dinner I went with the Chile Rellenos. I liked how they offered the two peppers stuffed with different ingredients. The beef was different from what I typically enjoy and found I really liked it. The meat was tender and the flavor was great. My husband went with the Barramundi fish dish. The fish was moist and the sauce was good. It wasn't something so spectacular that he'd order it again. The chips and salsa offered with our meal was great. The three varieties of salsa gave us choices and a chance to compare which we liked the most. Since we ate at the bar, we didn't see much of the restaurant to get an idea of the ambiance. From what we could see, it was a typical festive environment with colorful decor.

Solid 3, maybe 3.5. Came here for a work dinner. I have driven by many times and never felt compelled to stop in, but I figured it's a new place for me so I'll give it a shot. Nothing was wrong, nothing was great. It's very in the middle. Hence the 3 stars. The food all sounded good and looked good upon arrival but the common theme of everything I ate was...bland. Could use some salt and spices. I was excited before I ordered since the menu says "Tex-mex" but I've had some really great Tex-mex in Austin, this was not that. Service was good, the server was friendly and food came out quick so I have no real complaints for that. It really comes down to price points and enjoyability of the food. I thought it was pricey for me to feel "eh" about it. I ordered a combo platter so that I would have leftovers for lunch and could try different things. THE GRANDE - Beef, chicken, cheese enchiladas, with a cheese chile relleno, tamale, crispy beef taco, guacamole. When the food arrived it looked pretty good. But, first couple bites of rice and beans I thought it needed salt so I added some table salt. I ate 1/2 of it and with each new item, it all tasted relatively the same. And at some point I thought, "I know what this reminds me of- Taco Bell". Expensive Taco Bell in a nicer looking environment. I would actually just prefer Taco Bell lol. Well, I went along with the group to try this place, but I don't think I need to come back. I'll just hit up Taco Bell when I want some "Mexican food" and for much cheaper.

Me and my mom were really craving Mexican so we decided to stop in for lunch. Our server was Zeus. He was not very nice or attentive. Besides that, the atmosphere was really pretty and elegant and the food was A-OK. The Abuelo's Dip Sampler was excellent. The house made Chicharonnes were really yummy along with the sauces. The Queso Diablo and the Bean Dip were personal favorites. I got a cup of Tortilla Soup, would not order again as it was cold and bland. I got the Quesadilla El Horno for an Entree. It was pretty good. The rice and beans were very tasty. My Mom got a steak dish with cheese enchiladas and she thought it was pretty good. I would likely come back again.

This was our first time visiting and we enjoyed the food. It is like a high end Mexican restaurant I felt. The menu was not quite what I expected with tacos and burritos. I ended up with the chicken fajita chimichanga with queso sauce which was nacho cheese on top. This was good. My husband had fajitas. A little pricey but good food.

I wasn't craving Mexican food but my wife heard about this place from some colleagues and wanted to try it. Being that I'm fat and have never said no to tacos it didn't take more than a lifted eyebrow and I caved. First off, the atmosphere was amazing and was complete with plants, decor, and culturally rich murals. The service was friendly and so so helpful. We were started off with chips and a trio of salsas that were super flavorful and had a pleasant smoky balance. I got the "Grande" with enchiladas, chili relleno, beans, and a taco. I think the chili relleno was the best I've had, it was perfectly crispy on the outside with a wonderful flavor within. There was great attention of detail in presentation using a tortilla to prop up the taco, very nice. I got to say I was impressed with the flavor throughout this whole meal, even the shrimp on my wife's salad was packed with flavor. I definitely recommend this place for any business or personal occasion. I really liked that the price wasn't too steep either. I look forward to coming back and exploring the rest of the menu.

The second you walk into this restaurant you are amazed! Right in the middle is this amazing statue of Augustin de la Rosa who was the owners Abuelo! It holds a place of honor for him and is in every restaurant! The food is also fantastic! The service is really quick and the food comes really hot and fresh out of the kitchen! They have many drink & food options and you will not be disappointed!

Pork tenderloin abrigada. A lot of food!

I really debated whether this should be a 3 or 4 star review. First off the restaurant is immaculately clean, has interesting decor, and the tables are spaced enough for privacy. You're not all crammed together like many places these days. Many thanks for that! The service was good, relatively quick, and friendly. Hopefully the restaurant treats its employees well because my waitress said she had been there 5 years. The food... not gonna lie here. This is my second visit and it was not as good as I remember. It wasn't bad, it was just so-so. I ordered pork tenderloin abrigada and while the pork was not over cooked, it was just on the edge; also it was really over salted. Restaurants need to use more herbs, less salt. The enchiladas were nothing special, a little oily. The potatoes and beans were pretty good. Food quantity was massive.

This Mexican restaurant has it all!!!! My first time here. Beautiful decor, clean restrooms, thin fresh hot corn chips with 3 - Fresh salsas are awesome! I ordered an à la carte Chile Relleno it was excellent, Not traditional at all but Darn Good. Remembered a little late to take a picture. I put the pic in anyway. I ordered the Australian Seabass with the shrimp sauce didn't need the shrimp sauce. It was excellent. The shrimp sauce - Mojo De Ajo was good though. There was many people working and our waitress was great!!! Would recommend this modern Mexican food. Not Tex-Mex traditional to me. They have their own style.

We were served by Ana who took time to explain the drinks and items we were interested on the menu. She was just absolutely great! We started with the Guacamole n chips and the Elote. Both were delicious and the chips are made in house I believe. We then had the short rib Birria and man it was onolicious! The beef just fell apart and the marrow with chips was lip smacking good! It fed the both of us just right. For dessert we had the Tres Leches cake and man we loved it too. The cake was moist and sweet but the ice cream was mild so it went perfect with the cake. We tried the chicharonnes, which we did enjoy, but the avocado purée that accompanied it tasted very preserved - Possibly with citrus or something else? The tortillas also did not have much flavor. They tasted almost like something pre-packaged that you could purchase in the store. I expect more robust flavor profiles for House-made tortillas. We also tried the ribeye which we ordered medium rare but it came out medium well+. When we told our server about the steak, she did offer to have it remade but we hate wasting food so we declined the offer. We wanted to try the tres Leches cake because we saw another table order it and it looked so interesting. We didn't want the ice cream on top so we asked if there was anyway they could sub out the scoop of ice cream for a single small churro. Our server told us if we purchased the churros, she would give us the Tres Leches on the house to make up for the steak mishap. We accepted the deal though I don't think it appropriately addressed the issue. The tres leches was dense and firm, not like any other that tres leches I've ever had. The churros had a filling (either cajeta or dulce de leche - I really couldn't distinguish) that in my opinion, did not add value. I would've preferred a percentage off the bill or some other proposal to make it right. It just really wasn't there for me. I've talked to several people in the East Valley about this restaurant since I dined there, and seems my experience was shared among those people too.

I never made it over there but I have been to the Chandler location four times since they've opened and had a lovely experience every time. First was during restaurant week and it was so fun to try a variety of items for a very reasonable price. I loved the Chicharron guacamole, chicken enchiladas, and flan. The texture of the flan was clumpy but the flavor was amazing and I love that there was pineapple compote on top. I don't think I've ever had flan that way. Maitland was our server the first time and we were in such a hurry to make it to other plans and she did an amazing job ensuring we had the best experience in the shortest amount of time. I've also sat at the bar to enjoy the all day happy hour, which is such a great deal! Steven was attentive and thorough and helped facilitate when other guests were getting a little excited at the bar area. I have since tried a number of other menu items and I think the fajitas and corn cake are still my favorite! Sidenote: you can add an extra side of corn cake for $3 - highly recommend! This place basically turns into a nightclub after 7 PM on Friday and Saturday night. There are men dressed up in robot suits wandering all over the establishment dancing with the guests. There are guests dancing in the open space between booths and tables and the energy is out of this world! There were even women doing the limbo through the robots' legs lol! I died! My only suggestion for improvement would be to not serve the rice, beans, and corn cake on the sizzling plate of the fajitas because the plate is so hot that the beans, rice, and corn cake burn which is not an enjoyable flavor or texture for me. I have since started asking for that to be served on the side and I enjoy it much better!

It was clean, the staff responded quickly to me, but I was the only person at lunchtime on the restaurant side, and there were only two people on the bar side. Despite that it was loud. They need sound attenuation, My server was prompt, and freely shared her menu favorites when I asked. Sadly I'm not really a mole fan, her recommendation, but did try the enchiladas divorciadas. First the chips and salsa... the salsa was basically puréed tomatoes. No heat at all. Just some salt. I asked for something spicier and the server found me some habanero salsa. That was tasty, but it probably had very little habanero in it. Again, no better than a low-med heat. I grew up across the southwest so to me that was disappointing. The enchiladas? I really wanted to like this place but honestly? It was unseasoned boiled and shredded chicken, wrapped in a raw / untoasted tortilla. And drowned in some that was not enchilada sauce. The red sauce tasted like tomato sauce. I'm used to red sauce being pepper based. The spicier and more roasted the better. No pepper discernible. The green sauce tasted like it had a hint of green Chiles but mostly tomatillo. Also boring but better than the red. Neither was good. I ate it, I was hungry and it wasn't greasy, but... this was a midwestern spice-hating simulacrum of an enchilada. No bueno, demasiada aburrida. So to sum it up; decent but slightly loud facility, wonderful server, and I would say forgettable food but the reality is it was unforgettably boring.

I had carne asada and it was every bit as good as Natalie described it. My husband had pastor tacos and he is in a food coma he loved it so much. The guacamole was the best I have had! We will be back next week on Tuesday. Also, Natalie was so accommodating to our little ones. It was a great experience. Five stars does even cover how much we liked our dinner and service.

He was incredibly kind and attentive, especially with my friend who is deaf, making sure we always had water, napkins, and plenty of chips. The margarita flight is always a must for me, so I had to order one for my friend since it was her first visit. I told her that even though neither of us are into spicy margaritas, I knew she'd love it and I was right! Every margarita was delicious. I also ordered the lavender lemonade, which was refreshing and just as good. Ghost Ranch never seems to miss when it comes to drinks. Potato tacos! Another must have My friend ordered the Aztec Cake and insisted I'd regret not getting it. She was absolutely right. It was bomb and Torrance offered us a side of chips .TY. I ordered the short rib. It was flavorful, tender, and filling, with lots of garlic and savory flavor. I'm not sure if short rib is just not my thing, but it didn't wow me the way the Aztec Cake did. I warmed it up later and it was delicious a second time so no complaints. Excellent service, delicious drinks, and a fun way to spend the Fourth. We'll definitely be back!

From researching on Yelp I learned this place specializes in Baja Mexican food, seafood and we were looking for a place that served ceviche. Bingo! We ordered the Torro de Mariscos to share, a seafood tower consisting of shrimp ceviche, cooked shrimp, octopus, squid, aguachile, avocado, cucumber, red onion, topped with a tomato sauce. Enjoy on cracker or corn chips. We were hungry and started eating on arrival, so my picture is post tower demolition. Hehe Checkout the menu for a picture of the tower presentation. I had a similar dish last time I was in San Carlos deep sea fishing and this was right there on flavor and freshness! Very comfortable atmosphere with bright color mural paintings and mariachi music playing in the background gave the feeling that I was in Mexico! Afterwards I learned that the owner is from San Carlos! Wow! Small world! We will be back! Highly recommended for Baja Mexican food!
