Acapulco is a solid Mexican diner (including a counter and stools) that serves reliably good quality food at very reasonable prices. Coming from Los Angeles, the flavor palate is a bit different from the Mexican food I am used to, but it is still tasty regardless. I will take the time to point out that, in contrast to some other reviews, I found their pollo to be a little bland, which is off set by their truly tasty beef options (al carbon, bistec). Unfortunately, this undermines my effort to eat healthier, but hey, I should probably know that swapping a burrito for a salad is not an equal exchange. Beyond tacos/burritos/fajitas, they offer huaraches and tortas, so you can change it up, if this place becomes your go-to spot. They also serve some American fare (including crunchy French toast), but that's not the reason I show up. Some of the staff are friendlier than others, but overall they deliver on what a diner ought to - quickly prepared food offered throughout the day that will satisfy your tastebuds. read more

Compared to most fancy brunch places in the Greenpoint area, this place has the best brunch and you get a lot of bang for your buck and it tastes better than most expensive brunch places in the area. It's an amazing local diner and it also has great Mexican food aside from the breakfast section. The people that work there are the same faces you will see all the time. They open at 10:00am but on the website it says 8:00am anyway, I strolled in at 11:20am and asked for French toast the waiter told me breakfast was over so I said well what time do you stop selling breakfast you just opened an hour ago she said to me, (AND)its my business so I said excuse me who are you talking to like that,and then she replied I said it nicely. I said if that's nice then a lot of hands are gonna be meeting your face she said have a nice day and then I said you have a nice day, she was very rude and yes it was the young waitress I tried calling several times only to be told the management wasn't there try back later. So I don't think they'll be getting my business anymore there's way better restaurants in the area that appreciate and value their customers and who's food actually have taste I usually have to drown my enchiladas in French dressing when I go to alcopulco anyway,and yes they put the meat on the outside of the corn wrap weird. This amazing place is the hidden Gem of Greenpoint. Being from Texas I found it hard to find authentic TexMex/Mexican food. I went here for a Sunday morning breakfast and ordered huevos rancheros. You can find this dish on almost any menu in the city or borough and normally i get a blah disappointing plate but at Acapulco I enjoyed the most authentic tasting dish I've had in several years!! Most of what I have found in NYC is a lot of jar sauces, imitation cheese and bland rice but EUREKA I hit gold. The restaurant looks like your average hole in the wall Mexi spot but it is so much more right down to the Mexican style table cloths and sombreros on the wall. Even the staff is Mexican. I wanted to stay for lunch and dinner but the serving size was so big that my belly was too full. Then when I got the bill i almost fell over, to was so cheap! The price of 2 breakfast dishes and a side order of guacamole at this place was as much as 1 brunch plate in Greenpoint/ Williamsburg and as much as a glass of water the city. I am so coming here again and soon. And the best part is it is hidden away at the end of Manhattan Avenue where there are no trendy store fronts so not hipsters in sight!! You won't find any fancy yuppy crap on the menu just good food. read more

I found this place by googling "great mexican food in brooklyn, ny" I was happy to learn this place was not far from my house. After having about 3 bad mexican food experiences on my immaculate hunt... I look no further after finding this hidden gem! I had been craving mexican like something serious during this pregnancy and am IN LOVE with their steak burritos! They are huge, filled with an even mixture of rice,beans and steak they use fresh ingredients and all for an AMAZING price! They have a nice "home like" environment when you eat in the diner, or if you prefer to take your food home it, I live in Williamsburg, it survives the drive nicely and still tastes just as delicious when I finally get to my own casa. Their freshly fried just for you chips and guacamole and home made salsa also D~Lish! If your in the area and want good fast, fast at a great price then this is where you need to stop!!!! read more

Decent food, not that cheap actually but big portions. Food is sometimes surprisingly bland, you will need to add salt and/or hot sauce. Ingredients are fresh which makes up for it a bit. Atmosphere is super casual, locals hanging out, sure it's terribly lit but that's okay. read more

I think I have been overusing the description "solid" with restaurants. We've going to Acapulco for over a year, probably 5-6 in the year. With so many options in Brooklyn, that feels like a regular spot. It is a really good value, but it is dependable, not solid. I was around the area with a couple of friends, and we were craving Mexican food. This place was a top choice because of the raving reviews. I've also spotted this establishment on multiple lists to eat around greenpoint/williamsburg, so i thought we had to try it. This was my first trip to this local deli/restaurant and was quite excited for it. All in all, the food did not meet my overall expectation, but I do not have anything to complain about except the quality/taste of the food. I went with the carne enchilada tacos ($6.50 for 2). The portions were incredible, and the heat level was great. However, beyond the heat level and portion, these tacos were bland. The quality of the ingredients were lacking (the limes that came with the dish were dry and the tomatoes were meh). We also had their chips and guac for starters ($5). They were the best part of the meal. The chips were a little oily, but still enjoyable, and the guac tasted how it's supposed to taste. Again, the portion is superb. It was enough for 4 people with some guac left over for the tacos. My girlfriend had a chicken burrito, which was the size of my forearm. the tortilla covered plenty of semidry rice and beans, while the chicken (slightly dry again) was outside of the burrito. I guess you can say they strongly believe a burrito is open for interpretation. I didn't try it, but she said she enjoyed a bite of my tacos more. The rest of the group also found the meal to be underwhelming. Our waitress was attentive and fairly quick (it wasn't a busy Sunday afternoon though). Their beers are served in chilled mugs, and their mango fruit smoothie was average. Because of the portions and service, I give this place 2 stars. I'm still scratching my head why I'm giving it 3 stars, but it just doesn't seem right giving them only 2 stars. Maybe 2.5 stars is more appropriate. read more

So much food, so little money. Two people can easily share guac and a burrito. They always give you a frosted glass for your beer, plus a little bowl of limes. And you have to hand it to them...they even created a vegetarian burrito that contains non-Mexican vegetables (although I can't imagine why anyone would order it). One time a guy w/ whom the waitstaff seemed to be acquainted (or perhaps related) sat next to me at the bar, slurred his words, and passed out on my shoulder. Acapulco is the best foodie semi-secret in Brooklyn. Incredible fresh-made guacamole and the best quesadillas outside of Mexico proper. Don't let the low prices fool you, the food is top notch. Very unpretentious. Good drink selection that you grab yourself from the fridge. My BF and I have been going here for years and have never had a bad meal. Only downside: they close for vacation through the month of August, so you'll be jonesing for some Acapulco love. Plan accordingly. read more

I lived in California for years and this is bringing me back to the vans that serve tacos (that's a good thing). The only issue was that my burrito ended up being a tortilla laying on top of the fillings... so not an actual burrito... more like a tortilla covering delish steak, pico, lettuce, rice and beans. I've probably put their kids through college with the amount of times I've eaten here. It is what it is, Mexican food done right and what it should be, inexpensive. the best mexican food in greenpoint, hands down. i'm so angry that after living in greenpoint for 16 years, i wait until i move an hour away to visit this joint. had a lovely birthday dinner there. AMAZING veggie nachos (7 bucks i think? but def to split) - the perfect amount of jalapenos and cheese/bean placement. veggie tostados were also great, maybe too many veggies if anything. corona bottles for 3.50. i left stuffed and had a hearty lunch for the next day too. the quality, and amount of food you get for the price is unbeatable. i also love how downplayed the entire place is. seems like only the locals go there, which is totally understandable as there's no need to walk that far down manhattan ave.. but please do your tastebuds, friends, wallet, and yourself a favor and try this place! i'm reluctant to have it be swamped, lest i have to wait for my cheesy nachos! but they really deserve the business so i'll take one for the team. read more
