It's a very small shop with just a few seats, a menu that's kind of hidden above to the right and a hand written menu (with specials for the day) on their drink fridge. I stuck with my gut and got the spicy vodka rigatoni (includes ground pork in the sauce) and fried chicken cutlet on the side with a drink and chips, the chips were free since it was between their lunch special time (12-2pm). The worker that helped me was very informative and answered every single question I had. I waited no more than 5-10 minutes for my food, it was piping hot and FRESH... everything was perfectly made. I really couldn't stop eating it. The fried cutlet was cooked just right and the pasta was an al dente texture to be appreciated. I've also never had a Spellegrino before, it definitely complimented my meal. I got the breakfast quesadilla and the sweet plantains. Both were absolutely delicious and simple for breakfast locally. My only complaint is that I wish it had a sauce... like something to top it with. The sour cream was great, but I wanted like a green or red sauce or something to give it a bit more punch. It was a little dry, but perfectly cooked... a strange combo lol. The coffee, however, made us both chuckle when it came to the table. The glasses were entirely hard to use and not something that I would recommend for table service. It was a struggle and we would've just preferred a simple mug. Otherwise, everything was great and we left happy and full. I'll most definitely be back.

I love this place. I'm in Acapulco almost every day, sometimes twice a day, sometimes I even find myself going back a third time to pick up a late night guacamole snack. Acapulco is like no other place in the city. It looks a little sketch from the outside, but once you're inside you will be transported out of the city and into a 1970's Mexican boarder town truck stop diner. I love it! They're not even trying with the ambiance, it just comes naturally. The food is terrific and the two cooks make sure the presentation will exceed any expectations you might have. They truly take pride in the preparation and execution of every dish. I'm not a huge Mexican food fan, so I typically stick with the American style sandwiches, and occasionally go with one of the large carne asada, half chicken or mole shrimp platters. They all look beautiful. My favorite thing on the menu sounds a little lame, but it is so good. It's the turkey club sandwich. The bread is buttered and toasted, the meat is fresh, there is a hearty portion of mayonnaise, and the best bacon you have ever had along with a few slices of tomato and lettuce top off this beauty. It comes with French fries and plenty of extras for only $6.50. Why would you go anywhere else? The hot ham and cheese sandwich, and bacon cheeseburger deluxe are to good to be true and are both priced below $6.00. The chips and guacamole are a must. The chips are cut and fried right in front of you, and come out hot and crispy. I always sit at the bar to eat. There are plenty of drink choices in the coolers to choose from. My favorite is a $4.00 16oz Coors Light, which comes alongside a frosted mug. Everyone I have ever brought here has loved it, and I'm sure you will too. So do yourself a favor and take a trip to Acapulco today! read more

I grew up in Southern California and am a definite Mexican food snob. This place COMPLETELY does the job. You can grab your own beer out of the fridge and a frothy frozen glass arrives magically the second you sit down. Go for any of the tacos-Tacos Rancheros are my personal fave-drown them in Tapatio and slam it all down for less than 10 bucks. I've gone here alone to eat and read a book, and I've also partied in here with a group (they're totally accommodating for bigger tables and have a mariachi jukebox!). Very authentic, both Mexican and deli food is great, and always gives me a reason to come back, which I have been for almost 5 years now. read more

People are always talking this place up so I decided I'd finally go and try it. The first time I went it was so bad I went back to make sure I gave it a fair try before making up my mind, but the second time was even worse than the first. I ordered a burrito with a few specifications. What I got was mess of ingredients, half of which I said I didn't want, with a tortilla slapped lazily on top. Last time I checked a burrito, at the very least, involves wrapping the ingredients completely in a tortilla, not providing the two and expecting the customer to do it themselves. Excellent. This is a very authentic mexican restaurant in greenpoint. And so so cheap! Most things on the menu are delicious. The chicken or steak burritos. The quesidillas. The fajita platter. Personally, I don't see what the big fuss is about. I find Acapulco to be pretty bland. The chips and guacamole are freaking amazing, but, for the most part, the rest I could do without. Acapulco is just 4 blocks from my house, and we order their meals at least once a week! They are a best deal in the whole Greenpoint. Their portions are simply HUGE; they taste great, and are always fresh!
