These guys were rude, inconsiderate and threatened to "get out" and talk to me when I asked them to move to the back of a long ferry line they cut. When confronted, they straight-up lied to try and justify what they did, then eventually backed off and went to the back of the line anyway. So not only were they disrespectful, they were dishonest too. If this is how they behave in public, I wouldn't trust them with my belongings for a second. I am extremely disappointed with my most recent move with Access Gentle Moving. I have been a loyal customer since 2020 and have used this company multiple times over the years. Unfortunately, this latest experience convinced me that this will be my last move with them. I was originally quoted $229 for a three-person crew. On the day of the move, a fourth crew member was added and the quote increased to $249 per hour. While I understand pricing can change when additional labor is added, this was communicated at the time of the move rather than in advance. The move itself was very straightforward: a one-bedroom apartment's worth of belongings from a storage unit to a new apartment only 1.6 miles away. When I discussed timing expectations with Todd, I was told there was no way the move could be completed in 1 to 1.5 hours with a four-person crew. What made this particularly frustrating was the amount of time spent in transit. I drove directly to the destination and arrived in approximately 8 minutes, while the moving truck took about 20 minutes. Coincidentally, Todd was also traveling separately and arrived at about the same time as the truck. The overall pace of the move felt unnecessarily slow, and what I believe could have comfortably been completed within 1.5 hours ended up taking 2 hours. The final cost was approximately $500 for a two-hour move with four crew members over a distance of only 1.6 miles. For the amount of work involved, I found this difficult to justify. The most disappointing part was what happened after the move. When I provided honest and respectful feedback to Todd regarding my concerns about the timing and cost, he became defensive and began arguing rather than listening to a long-time customer. At one point, the conversation shifted away from addressing my concerns and became unnecessarily dramatic and uncomfortable. In the end, I paid the bill in full because I was simply ready to move on. However, I left feeling that the trust I had built with this company over several years was no longer being honored. My advice to anyone considering this company is simple: get all quotes in writing, confirm crew size and hourly rates in advance, and have a very detailed discussion about expected timing and travel distance before the move begins. Otherwise, you may find yourself paying significantly more than expected. Todd, thank you for your service over the years, but please do not offer a refund. This is no longer about the money. Initial quote was $189/hr for two movers. While waiting for them to show up Todd changed it to $209/hr for three movers but I had already paid a deposit so didn't want to lose that money. After the move I realized I was missing a box of sentimental items and when I asked Todd he said him and his crew didn't have it. I had 39 items to move so not a lot of stuff but regret not double checking before they left. Do not be falsely secure by all the reviews. The cost for their services will be more than double for any amount the give you. They will double and triple their time. They will delay and slow move the project to over charge you at the end. They will not disclose all cost up front and when they attempt to explain it. Their is so much bullshit in the explanation you will have NO way for it to make any sense AT ALL. Todd will banter you with chatter until you will pay him anything to just shut the hell up. I hired them to move a small upright piano and after 45 min of double talk and what seemed like a Red Bull induced brain bump they finally got to work to wrap and load piano which took all of about 20 min. Then on delivery over the phone as it was going to a clients house the same mind numbing chatter repeated itself to get him to confirm the delivery fee. After $1, 121.00 later because he could not deliver on the date he picked up and held the piano to deliver on a date more convenient for him. The night mare was over. I would give them less than 1 star if possible not for the actual move services. But for the extortion of fees and requiring all up front payments with no disclosure and advance confirmation of cost to plan for. On average when I have had this same service performed by other companies to pick up and deliver with much greater access challenges than a ground floor pick up to a ground floor delivery with no stairs involved, which is what this piano move was. They wrapped our furniture carefully and moved everything in less time than I expected (even with our new apartment being on the third floor!). This means Todd runs a tight crew with no turn-over -- VERY DIFFERENT FROM LESS EXPERIENCED MOVERS often just kids looking for summer gigs here and there. Not with Todd. Solid Crew. Well, how much time do you have to read about my experience with this company? I found them through Google Maps and saw their glowing reviews. I didn't even bother to read the negative reviews they had. I was so hoping they were going to be good: after all, they have 126 reviews and a 4.9 rating. Boy was I wrong! I called to reserve my move; Todd (the owner) talked to me and quoted $250/hour, and said it would take them two to three hours for a two bedroom apartment - everything had already been packed and was ready to move. I said cool, please send me the appointment confirmation and the contract. Three days have gone by, and I received no email; I called to check and Todd said he had me on the schedule and I was ready to go. I found it strange for him not to provide any paperwork, but I went through it anyway. On the moving day, Todd showed up and parked in a different place than I asked him to. When I asked him to move to the right location, he became very agitated and threatened to walk away from the job. I was shocked and while this was the second red flag I went through it anyways because at this point I had no choice since I had to move out on that day. Todd showed up at my place with four movers, who were quite nice people, but turned out to be very slow and not very experienced or coordinated: my belongings were extremely abused, dragged in the dust, and who knows how many of them I lost - I am still in the process of unpacking. Four hours into the job, we were still at my old apartment. I was very worried because we had already passed the time we agreed on and the management at the new apartment had been waiting for me for more than three hours to let me into my new place. However, that was not the worst part... When it started getting late I asked Todd how much I owed him. He said it was seven hours so far and did the math as follows: 7*$299 = $2,093. I was shocked again - our deal was $250/hour with an estimate of two to three hours of work - so I asked Todd how we ended up here? At this point Todd became a different person: he started yelling, calling me a liar, telling me to be quiet, asking me what the hell I was going to do about it, etc. I just stood and watched him dance. Todd's behavior escalated to the point when I started to fear a physical confrontation could occur between us and that was a horrible feeling to experience. Finally, I told him I would just call my husband and he would deal with him. That immediately calmed him down and became the nicest person ever. When my husband showed up (I am a black woman and my husband is a white man), Todd was the sweetest person alive. However, he ended up charging me $1,800 - instead of the original estimate of $750 - and he would only accept cash - this should say it all! Todd not only made that day long and painful, but he turned out to be very unprofessional, sexist, and racist. He made me lose my trust in people again. Tldr; they are responsive and did deliver... But 3.5 hours late. I struggle how many stars to rate this company. That's because what they were moving - a 100-year-old piano from Kirkland to Bellevue - came without damaging the instrument, or the floors of the two homes it was being transported to and from. But there were some serious problems. And let me give more positivity at the top so it isn't lost. The company was very responsive. I called first on a Sunday afternoon and left a message on the main number. I think I got a call back within an hour. And the owner does text, which is how he got in touch with me for random issues like getting addresses. Also, it seems the company has great availability. I scheduled a move one week out, and thy could have come sooner. Plus, Todd and his team were SO nice!!! I believe my mom called him "the nicest man." But, for the actual move, the problems were many and started immediately. We had the move scheduled for Saturday at 11am. Based on several phone conversations and descriptions of both houses, I was quoted $200-$300, with $300 as the most "outside" cost. And staff would be on hand to do it efficiently and keep that number down. But, Todd, the owner of the moving company, called around 9:30 to say he was going to be late because he had to drop off a whole bunch of recycling. Okay, not so difficult. I let both people at the two different houses know. By 12:30, I get a call that he's not only still not there, he can't find the home. Apparently, he didn't put the address correctly in the GPS. By 2:30 Todd and Co. are at the house and moving the piano. Then, I get a call saying this is "one of the most extreme" piano moving situations he's ever encountered and that the price will probably go up. But Todd is explaining over and over he will do the best to keep costs down. I have to ask over and over again the get the specifics on why this is so tough. Finally - the "extreme" factor? A piano in the first floor, front room of the house no more than 25 feet from the door. Granted, there were stairs on the walkway up. But the movers bypassed that by backing the truck up the lawn and making it a shorter and easier move. I'm stunned at this point. Then, Todd finally shows up sometime around 3pm in Bellevue and makes a big show of dropping his price because he was late. To what we'd agreed upon in the first place. $220. The whole thing made me think I should have gotten everything in writing, and I will be much more wary and choosy of movers in the future. read more

We trusted Access Gentle movers looking at the amazing reviews however we didn't have such a good experience. Our friends were helping us move as we couldn't be present in person as our families were impacted by covid :( The handling of our stuff weren't done properly. Few of our glassware were broken and many of my houseplants got damaged. Along with this we learned that quite significant amount of time was spend on things which weren't essential part of the move. I called Access Gentle Moving to move my 10x30 storage locker containing my old house in a different state to my new house in Seattle. The owner of the company, Todd, was initially very professional and knew the moving date was TBD based on the closing of the house. Once the purchase was final, we solidified a moving date of Sunday, Jan 7th, 2018 at 10 am where he would bring three men at 10 am and one additional at 11 am with full moving supplies, floor protection, etc. The project was quoted at $54/hour per man hour and estimated to take all day which we assumed 8 hours. That would put our expense at somewhere around $1650. We have moved with professional movers across state lines five times in eight years and have some experience with how both long-distance and local moves work. We hadn't heard from him by Saturday 1/6/18 and texted at 6 pm to confirm the date, time, and location for the following AM. He responded "We're on for tomorrow. Payment is CASH ONLY. No checks or cards." Because of banks being closed at this hour, I called him to ask about the CASH ONLY as we cannot get $2000 out of a bank account until Monday (daily ATM limits are $400). He said he realized he never told me and accepted responsibility, mentioned he can take a Cashier's check too. BUT you can't get a cashier's check Saturday evening nor for an open-ended amount. I told him he could charge my debit or credit card, or we can write a check. He said he would have to talk to "operations." As the owner of the company, he IS operations. Over the next three phone calls and two hours, we inquired about the cash-only nature of his business and asked additional questions about why we haven't received a contract. My husband and I both work daily with contracts and expect to sign one in the AM, but he doesn't that process established either. We explain that contracts are for both parties to set expectations of the relationship in the event there is an accident on the site, a dispute regarding payment, who is responsible if there is damage to the property, and general payment terms. He stated he has had stop payments issued five times in the last five years and we said a contract would protect him and he will get paid. He can get paid now if he would just accept our credit card. Todd told me the state of Washington tells him to only accept cash. I tell him that's just absurd - no state entity would tell you to exclusively be a cash-only business. He also exclaimed "you lied to me!" regarding us living in the new property vs. keeping our hotel as we relocated. I have no idea why I'm a liar but he was recalling a conversation from 3 days earlier that he thought happened 5 minutes ago - I told him he was confused. But he actually called me a liar and was still afraid he wouldn't get paid. My husband and I both agree by now this has spiraled out of control and we are exposing ourselves to too much risk by working with Access Gentle Moving / Todd who states he cares about his reputation. He won't accept another form of payment other than Cash, and we all no choice but to cancel the move. I told him it is incredibly unprofessional and he is leaving us in a real bind for a situation he alone caused. He was screaming at me, calling me a liar again, and kept calling my phone after we said we couldn't come up with $2000 cash in 12 hours on the weekend. Two more phone calls, two more lengthy texts later I think he realized he really brought the crazy and said "you can pay or not, it's your choice" which I think was an apology. I'm trying to give him money the entire time and now he's saying payment is optional? It's so confusing. Any way you look at it, Access Gentle Moving is not a reputable company, and Todd is not an honorable man. The business practices are quite unacceptable. If you're used to standard moving practices, continue looking for another mover and don't think his initial responsiveness translates to business professionalism. Question the non-advertised cash-only nature of his business. Question his communication skills. Question his integrity for leaving us stranded. Question the lack of contracts. As the previous review stated, he made no complaints about our steep stairs! He and his worker Kurt (sp?) got our storage unit with big/heavy furnishings unloaded into their truck and moved into our house after he carefully protected doorways/floors from bumps or outside dirt. Todd and Sebastian work very hard and do an efficient and safe job. I used them for my home twice and my office once. Him being a small businessman and contending with Seattle area traffic, you will simply have to be patient with timing. When he is working, he works very hard. Also, unlike larger companies, he only bills from time of arrival to time of departure instead of when he leaves his location. Huge savings over competition for that and other reasons. Moving can be an extremely daunting task, but thank heavens for Todd and his team. They make it really easy, and moving never seems as hard anymore. Our most recent experience would be our 3rd experience using Access Gentle Moving, and we will surely continue to use Access for any of our future moving needs. They are extremely professional and courteous, and most importantly they get the job done fast and stay true to their name of being 'gentle movers.' They roll out their own carpets so they don't track anything into the home, put covers over any doors that big furniture is going to be moved through, use their own equipment so they can easily maneuver large furniture around without knocking into walls or other furniture, and Todd and his team are all just genuinely great people (the people in charge of handling your personal belongings should probably have good character, it's your stuff and you will want to hire people who are able to treat your belongings and home with the same care as you would). Not to mention their prices are also reasonable compared to other moving companies! You might have a great experience with AGM, or you might not. I concur with the other reviewers who had good things to say about the crew. Their packing and moving skills are great, and they're pleasant to work with. However, I've hired AGM twice for moves, and and there have been issues. In the more recent move in 2011, I was in a bind because of a family loss, so I couldn't pack and move everything in my 2 bedroom apartment on my own. I called Todd and he gave me an estimate of $450 tops, cash only. He also said he wouldn't charge for the trip out and back from Renton, 30 min each way. That sounded great. The crew arrived and worked hard but as we got through the day, it became clear that it was taking longer than thought, and I asked the crew chief to tell me how much they'd need, and I'd get more at the bank. To make it short, I ended up going to the ATM 3 times for cash. And I had to pick up boxes at Lowe's as the crew was running out. The final bill was $895 plus tips for the crew (which they deserved). I followed up with Todd later about the bill being twice what he estimated. Admittedly the labor took longer than estimated, and I acknowledge I had to pay for that, but the invoice included a charge for transit. Todd promised that he'd fix that and settle up with me. I didn't hear back for a couple of weeks, so I emailed later and again Todd promised to settle it. Nothing happened, So... minus one star for the total being twice the estimate, minus a star for charging for transit (when it was promised otherwise), minus a star for Todd not following through after being reminded twice. If it weren't for the crew's energy and awesome packing, AGM wouldn't even get 2 stars. read more

They did an amazing job - laying down floor protection everywhere, wrapping the furniture with blankets, protecting banisters with blankets, etc. We had all our boxes labeled and Todd and his crew helped put all the boxes in their designated rooms at the new house, making unpacking that much easier! They also asked where we'd like all our furniture and arranged it for us in the new house. This was the best moving experience we've had - nothing got broken, and nothing went missing. We are very happy with Access Gentle Moving. Professional, attentive, careful. We were moving household full of stuff from Sammamish to North Bend. They covered and protected all places that are sensitive to wear and tear - carpet, floors, corners, entrance doors. I wasn't fully packed up and was very stressed but Todd and his movers worked their magic and helped get everything done fast! A splitter for the washer and dryer was accidentally forgotten at the house I was moving from and when it was discovered that one was needed to hook up my washer and dryer at the new place, Todd purchased a new one for me and installed it. Let me first say, I never write reviews, but my most recent experience warrants one. I first emailed to make an appointment and i was contacted the next day by the owner. He was very polite and told me that he could accommodate my moving scheduled. I said perfect, I will see you on Sunday. Sunday came around and I waited for the time slot that was reserved for me. 1 hr passed, then another 30 minutes. I do understand that people sometimes run behind. I would think that anyone who respects the time of another person would call and let them know that they are running behind. I called and got voicemail 3 times. I contacted Todd to move a grand piano from one area of our house to another and back again while our carpet was being replaced in the room where the piano sits. I was very concerned that our newly refinished hardwood floors not be damaged when the piano was moved onto the floors while the carpet was being replaced. Todd was great to work with. He was up front explaining the cost range based on how difficult they determined the move to be when they arrived. The final cost was right in line with what he told me to expect. The care he and Sebastian took in carefully moving the piano was much appreciated. They were also very helpful and friendly. He was flexible in accommodating our schedule when the carpet wasn't installed at the time we had anticipated for moving the piano back into the room. I had family arriving the next day and Todd got the move done despite my later than anticipated timing. My hardwood floors remained flawless and as did our piano thanks to them. These guys are AWFUL. First call to move he tells me he needs a minimum of 2 hours pay at $60/hour. Cash Only. Shows up and tells me that is per guy and a minimum of 3. I must have misunderstood. I had to get my furniture out of the house for new floors so I gritted my teeth. We're ready to move everything back and he tells me he needs to do it ASAP because he needs his equipments back (my piano is on his cart in the garage). I CANCEL my Labor Day weekend plans for him. He texts me at 9:00 pm Saturday for a Sunday noon appt and asks to change the time to 6:00 pm. I can't do that time and he gets MAD at me. We re-plan for today (Saturday). He tells us he'll be here around 3 pm. He calls soon after to 3 to tell us he needs to move to 5. Hear from him again just after 6 and now it needs to be 7:30. When we get frustrated he gets angry at US. I'm finding another mover and returning his stuff. NEVER AGAIN and I'll make sure everyone I know hears this story. read more

this review won't be lengthy, only because i don't know how much can be said about moving. they showed up. they worked their behinds off. they got the job done. all my stuff made it from my old place to my new place. what more can you ask for. if you want a lengthier review, here you go - they packed up all of our belongings in pretty much a day. the next day, they had the daunting task of moving all our stuff, in the rain, through our muddy, swap backyard. the backyard was the shortest route to the truck. they provided all supplies. they worked, in what seemed to be one of the coldest days, just shy of snowing. they worked well into the night until everything was where it needed to be. the protected our new house from wear and tear. they protected all of our belongings, some of which were very large, very expensive pieces. they were awesome. todd was very easy and delightful to deal with. i've moved a lot of times in my life. i've had movers obviously taking too long to rack up the hours to make more money. todd was the opposite of this. he was amazing. i cannot recommend him enough. read more

They worked fast, but were also careful with my stuff and put down lots of padding to protect floors and doors. They were a little late - but were in regular contact with ETAs, and made up the time in their fast work. Overall, just a super easy, no fuss experience. read more

Todd and his crew did a great job on 2 different moves for us. The first was a very difficult move, as we had to move our mother from her long time home to a retirement home at the Garden Club. They were very nice to deal with, and did a great job in making sure all of her belongings were carefully packed so they arrived in perfect condition. The second was a smaller job to move a very large piece of furniture into our home. With both jobs, they provided excellent communication and went above and beyond what most move companies would do to make sure that we were happy and received great service. I've moved three times in the last four years and utilized a different moving company each time. Todd and his team were by far the best company I have worked with and I will continue to use them in the future. It was a big job moving a five bedroom home into a condo high rise and taking the rest of the furniture to a storage shed. It involved dismantling and reassembling furniture and so he came by to assess everything and quoted me $3500 - $4000 for 5 people with a 10+ hour estimate. This was by far and away the lowest estimate I received and sure enough everything went the way he stated it would. Everyone one of the movers was friendly, followed my instructions and worked fast but careful. Nothing was damaged, they ended up finishing right around the 10 hour mark and the total ended up being $3360! As good as an experience that moving can be in my opinion! read more
