This place just charged me $720 for a simple, routine oil change, brake inspection, differential fluid service, and brake fluid service. I have never paid this much for routine service work. They also tried to scare me at length into replacing my entire front brake rotors when I know for a fact that I just need to replace the pads. For context, I drive a 2018 Subaru that only has 55,000 miles on it that I have only driven for ordinary commuting (i.e., no rough wear and tear from off-roading or driving on rough surfaces). I usually don't post reviews, but I had to post this one because I made the mistake of coming here and I hope my review will help someone avoid my same mistake. Go literally anywhere else.

I took my 2001 Lincoln LS V8 to Joe here back in late August 2022 because my car was overheating. They were professional and kind to my sister who dropped the car there because I had an injured ankle. Nearly $2,000 later, they fixed the problem stating it was some sort of hydraulic fan issue. When my sister picked up the car it had a warning light that said electrical charging problems. The car had never ever had this warning light on its LED display. Joe told me it was most likely a faulty alternator although I had just had that replaced in March 2022. So I took it back to Dan's Automotive who has been fabulous, and had another alternator put in its place as it was still under warranty. After putting in a second brand new alternator the electrical charging light was still on. Les Schwab had already checked the obvious and it was not the battery. I called Joe, as I was very upset, because at this point I had already put more money into the car then the Kelley Blue Book value, private party, excellent condition, which it was. He and I got into a heated discussion and then we hung up. Months later I called to apologize to him, and he did so in return. My mother had passed away in April of 2022, and after that, and then breaking my ankle, and then my car overheating, I felt like I may have overreacted with Joe. Fast forward to February 2023, my car had been sitting a few months due to my injury, under a carport. I'm coming back from running an errand and once again my thermostat starts climbing to hot just like before. So I pull over on I-5 South, just barely enough room to pull over, let the car sit for about 15 minutes as I'm shaking from anxiety again. I called Joe and he said to bring it right over. He reminded me to turn the heaters on full blast to help keep the engine cool once the thermostat level had returned to normal. I pulled right into the first Bay, while we all waited for the engine to cool down. I asked Joe if he was going to charge me for diagnosing it again and he said the first 5 minutes were free., even though the work they performed last August was still under warranty. I waited in the lobby for around 15 to 20 minutes and Joe came to tell me they didn't know what it was, it could be the water pump, etc . I just feel like after all the money I spent that this same exact issue should have been resolved. It seemed like they should have at least offered to keep the car overnight or as long as it might have taken to thoroughly look over the work they had performed minimally. I've never had this happen with a mechanic's shop in my entire life. By the way, my car only had 127,000 original miles. Stay away from this Auto repair shop or you will be sorry and broke.

Oil & filter change led to a broken reset button, left for someone else to fix.

What a joke this place is. I started taking my car here, 2013 Acura TSX, after a botched oil and filter job at the Jiffy Lube across the street. Nit to be outdone in the areas of jerkery and ineptness, these yoyos broke the reset button after changing the oil and filter so that it appears as though I will need an oil and filter change forever. And, they refused to take responsibility for it because my car is 8 years old...You can't make this stuff up.

I was a loyal customer for years. Tom and Pat built an incredible shop. They knew their stuff, stood behind their work, treated customers with respect, and earned every bit of the reputation they had. I was genuinely happy for them when they retired. Unfortunately, the shop they left behind just isn't the same. Since the ownership change, I've had one frustrating experience after another, and almost all of them have involved the front office. One visit was for squeaky brakes. They inspected everything and told me my brake pads had plenty of life left and that the caliper design on my vehicle can squeak under light braking. Weird, but okay. I understood, thanked them, and hung up. A few minutes later, I got another call from the supervisor because apparently the first advisor didn't think I understood. I assured him that I did. I understood the explanation the first time. Getting called back just so someone could explain the exact same thing again felt incredibly condescending. Then came the A/C issue. My A/C makes a loud hissing noise through the vents whenever the compressor is running. They found it was low on refrigerant, added dye, and the noise disappeared... for about two days. When it came back, they cleaned a vent actuator even though they admitted it wasn't the problem. Then they told me the noise only happened when the climate control was set to Auto and suggested I just not use Auto. I explained, again, that it happened in Auto, Manual, and Defrost. Basically, anytime the A/C compressor kicked on. Their response? "Then just use Auto." At that point, I realized we weren't having the same conversation. The one person who absolutely deserves recognition is the woman who came outside afterward to talk with me. She listened, understood why I was frustrated, and treated me like a human being instead of someone who needed the same explanation repeated three different ways. She was professional, empathetic, and honestly the only reason this review isn't even lower. JC Motors isn't the shop it used to be. I no longer trust them with my family's vehicles, and I can't recommend them to friends or family anymore. I sincerely hope Tom and Pat are enjoying retirement. They built something special. I just wish that same standard of customer service had survived the ownership change.

And has an ACTIVE FELONY WARRANT!!!!!!!! I found all this out on the internet- Go Go Internet Powers! While trying to get information on warranty coverage I came across many more interesting facts...... For my purposes here, while the Tualatin store was jacking.....yes hand jacking my suv, (like you would at your friends garage) the "tech" who looked like he was on a day pass from prison stated that I would need about $700 in repairs......which is odd because he only had one tire off ..... Everything seemed really fishy, so I decided not to have it serviced. Long story short I finally got a hold of Justin's Brake Team on 82nd, and lemme tell ya, well worth the trip. They replaced my front pads, and lubed my calipers? At no cost which was great and somewhat ironic as the issue was with the front, yet the Tualatin Brake Team only took off one rear tire.......Anyway, everything is good!
