Every time I go to this particular Ace - 9/10 times the McLoughlin location - I swear up and down to my husband that I am not going to go back. Yet I still somehow find my way needing something and not wanting to drive all the way to Clackamas or Oregon City for a big box store. They never have anything in stock - even if their "pick up in 15 minutes" on the website says so. I see it, drive to the store and then it's nowhere to be found. This is not specific to this location as I have encountered it at multiple. However, it is the worst at this one. They're 20-25% more expensive than box stores. I want to support local franchisees but they make it really hard to. I'll give credit to the staff that do ask if I need help, but more often than not the staff are socially awkward and quite unfriendly. I've gotten paint there and I felt as though I was a huge burden for asking for help lol. read more

Ace Hardware always has what I need at fair prices, and some things I didn't know I needed! Like items in the garden art area and home goods. Can't pass up fun yard art and cute cocktail napkins! This location has easy parking right out front, helpful customer service and the store is clean and well organized. Can't comment on other people's experience and one star reviews, but can say without a doubt I have always had a great experience when browsing or shopping here. read more

Holy sh*t. I went to this location because it was next to Trader Joe's. Never, ever again. Store personnel are friendly, but it's not well-staffed compared to other locations. I needed house keys made. Their pricing is not visibly displayed. I was shocked to get to the cashier to find that my total was $41 70 for 6 copies of a house key. I confirmed with the checker that this was correct. I called Ace Hardware in Sellwood Moreland and they charge $3.00 per key, so this price point seems egregious. I can only imagine the markup on the rest of their items. I will definitely not return to this location. read more

I might give this store a two star review, if it wasn't for the fact that every other time I go there, they've closed the store at least an hour early with no explanation. The times that they are open, the staff is either rude or completely incompetent. Don't waste your time or your fuel going to this store. read more

Great people who work there. Horrible corporate policies. I've been shopping for a weber grill. Found it at Ace. $229. I have $25 in rewards coupons to use. When I attempted to purchase and use coupons I was told I couldn't. Stated reason was the item was on sale. I saw the same grill on line today,$229. I attempted to purchase and was told that I couldn't use my rewards coupon because weber wouldn't let me. I have been a loyal ace rewards member for years. NOT ANYMORE. LOCAL SERVICE IS GREAT, CORPORATE SUCKS. I have filled out there customer questionnaire, I've asked to speak some about this. SURPRISE no one has called me back. Great staff, lousy corporate people. Went in needing paint. One quart of grey and one quart of black. I chose they base and grabbed the colors off the index and took it to the person working behind the counter. He said he couldn't make it because it would be 15-30 minutes as he was working on something for another customer. I asked if he could make it and he said no, because he was working with another customer. I asked if he even wanted to take my order, and he said no, he was working with someone else.... WTF? I would have been happy to wait. I just needed some paint. This is why going to this Ace Hardware is always my LAST RESORT. Asking for help is like pulling teeth IF you can chase someone down that works there. They tend to hide and run away, or make you feel like they are too busy to help. I went across the street to the Benjamin Moore store and they were happy to fulfill my request. They had ONE OTHER CUSTOMER and could still handle making a quart of grey, and a quart of black paint. I'm not one to leave reviews, but this place is extremely frustrating every time I visit. Rude people, no help, and the worst work ethic I've experienced. They don't want to help. Their priority is to fiddle with things on the shelves to look busy and try to be left alone instead of addressing customer needs. Funny side note: after my first complaint, years ago, suddenly staff was helpful for one week. I guess the policy is to react and then go back to poor service once they think the heat is off. read more

Bought play sand online specifically that was brown. I get to the store and ask the checkout person if it's brown , they get the loader who tells me yes . I get home and its like gray cement . I paid $7.99 per bag for brown sand and could of bought cement looking sand at any store for $6 . I believed the website info and the workers at the store. Would not recommend buying play sand , as it looks nothing i want my child to play with. false advertising. and overpriced. read more

I really like this Ace location. It is clean and well run. They have a good selection of gardening supplies and housewares in addition to the usual hardware store stuff. They even were selling face masks early on in the pandemic when they were really hard to find. The people who work here and incredibly helpful -- both in person and on the phone. You don't have to search every corner to find someone to answer your question. My husband and I bought an air conditioner today. The store associate didn't just take it to the register, he went out into the parking lot and offered to take it to our car. You don't see that kind of service much nowadays. read more

Nice staff, stupidest stocking policy ever! They are constantly out of stuff. When I asked why, I was told their policy is to order one item and not order more till it sells! I needed 2 20 amp breakers. They had one. Out of 8d nails. Out of 1/2" PVC connectors. When I asked for the owners contact info so I could complain, I was told the owner doesn't want to be contacted by customers!!! read more

Company is very bias. I was asked to leave because of the shirt I was wearing. It was a pro American shirt and I guess someone did not approve of me having my own opinion that did not fit there way of thinking. But the blm mask I saw was fine. I will not be returning. I went here today and got a christmas tree. It's a 7 foot Noble Fir and it only cost me $15! Two employees brought it out to my car, threw it on top and tied it down for me. I didn't have to do a thing. They were extremely friendly and I didn't feel as though I was an annoyance to them. They went above and beyond! read more

Literally the worst customer service experience I have ever had. The female cashier at the front was entitled, stuck up, and very rude. Her whole "high and mighty" attitude is quite hypocritical considering she can barely do her job right. I live close to this store but will definitely make the trip to Westmoreland Ace in the Sellwood neighborhood, where everyone is so helpful and friendly, and the cashiers are always super nice, cheerful, quick and efficient. This is one of the best hardware stores I have ever been too. They have everything you need (stuff) and everything you want (great service). The staff is helpful, friendly and they remember me when I stop in. BONUS: Ace Rewards Program - it's a must have. It really pays you back, without much effort on my part. Called this store to ask if they had something in stock and was told they are too understaffed to talk to me, and was placed on hold for 10 minutes. So I called back to leave a comment on their phone system, and that disconnected me. I then just went to the store to pick up an item, and the sales staff acted like we were a bother to them by being in the store and were very rude and unhelpful. I'd never step foot in this store again. The staff was no help and service is clearly an afterthought. read more
