We have been customers at this location for the last eight years and have always enjoyed excellent customer service and we have been very happy with their selection. Definitely a five star service. Not today. We went in to purchase an advertised product and couldn't find it. When we asked one of the customer service reps about it, he had a pretty arrogant attitude and tried to upsell us on another product. He pointed out that he was a horticulturist and would never consume a vegetable that was planted in the mix that we were looking for. Management ought to encourage their staff to be a little more helpful and less judgmental. read more

I just had a really wonderful experience here today. Dimitri who helped us with making extra keys was so nice and patient with our needs. Seems like a really good person. The nice cashier lady also made us feel welcome which made the whole experience really positive. Knowing the store is run by such kind souls, I definitely will be visiting more often. Like most Ace Hardware stores, they have all the hardware store norms - plumbing, lighting, tools, BBQs, rakes, brooms, cleaning products - but it's the seasonal and houseware departments that surprise and shine! In housewares you can find gorgeous cocktail napkins by Caspari, cloth napkins and placemats, lovely scented candles, seasonal table runners, vases and basic decor items. Also lots of kitchen gadgets, many elevated so they are as beautiful to look at as they are functional. In seasonal, I always find fun and quirky yard art, stakes for my planters, hummingbird feeders, wind chimes and more. During the holidays, they have great decor. Service is super helpful. If you need something specific, they don't tell you where it is, they walk you over to the item. They are very knowledgeable and offer suggestions when you have a need but not aware of the solution. I believe all Ace Hardware stores are individually owned so I'm always amazed at the consistent level of merchandise and service. read more

The woman at the check out register has made comments under her breath twice while I was checking out, aimed at me. Today it was because I said no, I didn't want to donate to Doernbechers . Little did she know that I have donated directly to Doernbechers because I have a disabled niece. It's really none of her business why I said no. The service at Ace in Lake Oswego can't be beat. Twice in the last month I've stopped by needing advice on unusual (to me) hardware needs. A swing out cupboard bracket that needed replacing and a new tire for my wheelbarrow. Both times, I was offered help in finding what I needed and both salespeople took the time to explain what I would need to do to the install. Sure beats wandering around other hardware stores and watching utube videos on how to install. Always fun to look around at housewares and their made locally section too. read more

I love this store. I have the Ace app on my phone so I love that I can see their inventory before I head down to the store. They are extremely helpful and the staff goes out of their way to make sure that you get the help you need. I have had paint mixed, keys cut and much much more. Great toy section for that last minute kids birthday party you forgot to get a gift for. A couple of people mention high prices but seriously - they have to pay for the location and fantastic staff. You can drive 10 minutes to Home Depot and spend hours looking for your item and a staff member. The couple dollar savings is not worth it. When I go to the big box stores I always feel like I am compromising on what I am actually looking for and trying to make something of theirs work, when I go to Ace someone helps me and I find usually exactly what I need. read more

I had some time to kill in LO, meeting friends for drinks at 5. It was about 4, and I dropped into the 365, then saw Ace. Ah! Well, they always have interesting stuff in there. Ace Hardwares are so fun, they have gimmicky toys, yet, tools and really, really functional necessary items. But the fun toys, unexpected gadgets are the best! I had no feelings one way or the other about any kind of gift giving this year. But, I just started picking up little toys, items for all my co-workers. I had so much fun. I spent a little dough - the store was well lit. Nice staff of young men asking to those shopping if they needed an assist. I went to check out and there was a delay at the checkout. I was patient and happy to wait. Just kind of a jolly feeling around. The checkout guy kept his cool and hollered for help. Seems like a nice community of people working here. One item I purchased had a flaw, so hopefully I can exchange when I am in the area next. Prices moderate to high. Easy parking, not an obvious store front. read more

The LO Ace Hardware is exceptionally good at helping me solve problems. They are resourceful and knowledgeable. For example, when the cord of my vacuum cleaner broke, they showed me how to fix it and supplied me with the parts I would need. That saved me a lot of money, because vacuum stores in town servicing Miele push to have you buy all new stuff rather than fix. At Ace, they know what they carry, and can refer you quickly to the relevant aisle. They stand behind their products. An invaluable resource! read more

Hands down, the worst small hardware store I've ever dealt with. I moved to Lake Oswego a year ago and have had nothing but unsatisfactory experiences trying to shop here. Whenever I need help locating an item, the 1st employee I ask never seems to have a clue as to where it might be & always has to call for help. And, despite an OK selection of hardware, each time I've need a specific piece it is something that they don't stock, but it's always part of a larger kit that I can spend 10 times more for to get the one part I need. Although I try to support small, local business whenever I can, I'm done wasting my time going to this one. read more

I walked in looking for a random magnet (less than $5 item) for a piece of furniture I was trying to fix - to be honest I wasn't really sure what I was looking for but the customer service person was so helpful it occurred to me that they might be able to fix another household problem that had been nagging me. I had an oddly sized picture which I was intending to have the broken glass replaced in, but instead had been sitting in the trunk of my car for way too long. I mentioned it to the person who was helping me and he walked with me out to my car, carried the picture into the store, and suggested I come back in 20 minutes. When I did the picture was perfectly repaired, and I was only charged $7.50 for the service! I never got to thank the guy, but that made my day! read more

I like stores like this for their customer service. Sadly, on today's adventure there I got none. I was in the store for about 20 minutes, every employee I saw walked in the opposite direction. Not one employee offered help, said one word to me, or acknowledged my existence. Back story, I'm a mom with a 2 &4 year old. They were with and well behaved but excited. Obviously I needed help find things. My littlest hurt himself in the store (no fault of the employees or management) but even with a crying child, not one word from the staff. Boo! They got none of my money today. I will likely return as it is so close to my home, but if I need customer service, I will shop elsewhere. I stay far from this store whenever I can. I gave it another shot yesterday and not a single employee helped me. They stood around socializing with the other employees. While searching for my purchases, I got side swiped twice by two different employees. What's the deal with this place?! They have the "hard to find products" and jack the prices sky high. I'm an easy going person and this is my first time writing a review. It took a pretty crummy experience yesterday (along with the track record of other experiences in the past with this store) to disgust me enough to write this. I'm done. I had the last straw. Grandpa needed a padlock and some extension cord, he found them right away with the great directions given by Steve.
