This is a fun and festive hardware store that you can shop at. They carry unique items that you can't find at the big box stores. Prices aren't too bad depending on what your buying. Purchased more than $100 of items and used the $5 discount on the back of the Ralph's Grocery receipt at this already expensive Ace Hardware. When I went to return a $7 item, they took back the $5 discount. When I asked them if they thought this epic display of chintziness would effect my continued patronage of their store, they just shrugged. Haven't been back since, so there is your answer. read more

What is with our local stores not liking young families anymore? Seriously, being followed every step of the way by rude employees who clearly don't like that we are in there with our VERY well behaved toddler is not only degrading, but down right appalling. We don't need you babysitting us every step of the way, we've got control, thanks. The first time we say we don't need help, should be the only time someone is following us. Our daughter even asked "why is everyone close to us?" Great question! She's learning spatial awareness, they should take a lesson in this as well. We just sold our home in Rancho Mirage and are remodeling our new one here in Palm Springs, but we don't need any of their over priced run of the mill products. We will never return. read more

I love this Ace store ! They have so much to choose from we love the bright outdoor furniture to the solar yard decor!! I went to this store on May 8, 2020 to find outdoor seating. Mind you I live 60 miles away and knew I would find something ! I know during this pandemic everyone is uneasy but a Worker at ACE named BRIAN was at the desk by outdoor furniture I asked him about delivery and he just snapped at me saying there is no delivery and there delivery people needed to be home to be safe and if I bought today I had to take it home myself! He came off as mean,mad and just rude!! Hopefully next time I drive the 60 miles away to visit my favorite ACE store Brian will have changed his attitude! read more

I LOVE this store. I'm a recently new (2.5 years) homeowner in Palm Springs and I always seem to have a project. Lowes and Home Depot couldn't even be bother to engage you in conversation, let alone help you, and forget any product knowledge. Every time I go into the Ace I'm greeted by several employees walking the store asking if I need help and, if I do, they normally walk me to the product. If I have questions, I normally end up in a pleasant conversation about options for my project that never crossed my mind. The store is no where near as large as Lowes or Home Depot but they seem to have curated their product lines down to the best options. Most of all I appreciate their general happiness. Everyone in the store seems happy and they seem to enjoy working with the public. That makes a HUGE difference for me in choosing a business. I also try to shop local as much as possible. Almost four years now that we have been shopping at this store, for mostly patio furniture and outdoor accessories, in addition to basic hardware and such. The customer service in this store is always outstanding. And it's particularly good in the Patio Dept. Brian in the Patio Dept always goes out of his way to make my husband and me feel at home and like we are valued customers. Richard also is always so pleasant and helpful. To be clear, we still own and use every piece of outdoor furniture we have ever purchased there. It's all been amazing quality. But we moved to a new home and have a lot more outdoor space now. So we are thrilled to be able to always have Ace and their staff to go to for help. And they have an amazing and beautiful inventory that can't be found in most other stores in the Coachella Valley. Most of the other patio stores in the seem to sell the same bland, traditional outdoor furniture. But when you walk into Ace, you see COLOR and STYLE. They have a finely curated inventory. What an amazing experience! Recently bought a vacation home here and had been making lots of visits to the Home Depot. Stumbled in here before shopping at Ralph's and walked out with a beautiful Sunbrella patio umbrella. Richard in outdoor furniture went above and beyond to change out a pole on the umbrella to accommodate our design request. One would never receive this level of service at one of the box box stores. And their prices are reasonable. On another visit I was recommended a pumice brick to clean the hard water stains off my toilet. Who knew such a thing existed?! (Water in NY, where I come from, is not hard.). The staff here is versed in local issues like this of which you may be clueless about until you are here for a while. And all are incredibly friendly. Will be giving this gem much more of my business in visits to come. read more

RUDE AND MEAN! Woke up this beautiful Sunday morning in a great mood and decided to go to True Value to get a few little things I needed for our home. My Husband, Son, and I started walking in to this hardware store, when we were stopped by a terribly rude man with a managers badge on. He instructed us to wait outside for 5 minutes until they opened. Really?? The doors to this establishment were wide open. Perhaps the owner should instruct the staff not to open the doors if you are not open for business, instead of turning customers away. In addition, it would have been a much more pleasant encounter if the manager had simply said, "I apologize, we will be ready for you in a few minutes, feel free to browse"... That was not the case here, and because of it, I will never shop here again. No need patronize an establishment that makes one feel unwelcome. read more

We have bought patio furniture and a large Weber grill there in the past. The recent wind storm destroyed one of our 3 umbrellas that we had purchased there. I went inside and started looking for a replacement. A sales associate asked if he could help me. I told him I was looking for a 9' umbrella. He looked me over and informed me the cheap umbrellas were outside and that the ones I was looking at were very expensive, some even $300. That was the end of his "help". I felt like Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman..... I went elsewhere and found good service and the perfect umbrella. This is the first time I have encountered this kind of treatment at this store.....too bad. I will not be back. read more

Great staff and great selection of products from tools to patio furniture. They carry high end Benjamin Moore paint and it frequently goes on sale. Staff and management are extremely helpful. Lots of free parking in front of the store. If they run out of a product, they can order it for you at no extra cost within a few days. Extremely dog friendly. All of the Ace Hardware stores up North in the Bay Area and Sacramento give veterans a 10% discount, but not this one. The store clerk told me that each Ace Hardware is individually owned. Ok then why is the other hardware stores giving veterans a discount. With so many of our veterans living in the Palm Springs area you would think this discount would be a no brainer . This store has always had excellent customer service and advice, although a lot of things are interesting but pricey. Now there is the lower-price Ace-branded merchandise option. Home to the oldest staff and the largest selection of lawn ornaments at any True Value I've ever been to, which is nothing but fitting for Palm Springs. Surprised they weren't selling coffins, they could probably make a killing. All morbid jokes aside, the staff were very professional and courteous and I found what I was looking for. Truly the nicest True Value store I've been too! It is so well organized and they make the merchandise look like eye candy...which is hard to do when you're talking drawer pulls and lighting! :) The patio furniture is really higher end than you'll find at other big box stores but the prices aren't outrageous either. I've been meaning to stop by this location forever(10 yrs), but somehow in my visits to PS I never managed too. Glad I finally did! The staff is VERY friendly and willing to help. They even carried the small circle insert for a patio table (o-ring for the umbrella). The clerk gave me a tip to place the ring in hot water to soften before installing into the table. See what I mean about helpful and friendly? So when u want good ol fashion service but want to see up to refreshing merchandise (tired of the reiterations of Depot, Target, Lowes etc) stop by here. read more

This was my first time at this hardware store. I came here because they specifically carry Benjamin Moore paint. I expected it to be like any other hardware store. I've been to about 4 this week alone trying to figure out my project and get advice. They are seriously so incredibly friendly and helpful here that it blew my mind. They eased my anxieties when it came to my painting project. They let me know what would and wouldn't work. Let's just say Pinterest can sometimes be too inspiring and you lose a sense of realistic DIY expectations. Knowledgeable advice from people who know the products is invaluable. I cannot tell you how much I love this place... First of all, they still believe in customer service... there seems to be a salesperson every 25 feet in this store. I've never had to go wandering around to find help... there's always someone available in the next aisle over... and they're all as friendly and helpful as can be. Besides having a great selection of tools and hardware, this is THE place to go for excellent quality outdoor furnishings... Don't go looking for cheap crap. They leave that to Target... but pillows and cushions in every shade known to humans, one of the best chaise lounges you can buy, and exquisite furniture for the lanai. Naturally, this focus on quality doesn't come cheap, but they're presenting options designed to last a lifetime... not a season... They even have a design department, and an in-house designer available to help you figure out what you're seeking! a huge selection of acrylic, pool-safe table-ware, a great selection of grills, Umbrellas, grilling parts and accessories, pool equipment and supplies... all available... My friends and I call this place "The Gay-Gay Hardware Store" - not only because of the fantastic furnishing section, but the selection of housewares and miscellaneous stuff is wonderful and fun. I can wander around this place entertaining myself for an hour or more... and never feel like I"m not welcome because I'm not buying $500 worth of stuff... The customer service here is consistently outstanding. I have purchased umbrellas, mats and other items for my outside patio here before. I've noticed the quality of the products is superior compared to other hardware stores. This week I bought a flag pole only to figure it was the wrong size. I brought it back, very quickly Dan and Scott took charge and helped adjust it to the right size. I was in and out in ten minutes. A very friendly store, will continue to shop here. read more

A really nice old-fashioned, small town "True Value" hardware store, a highly endangered retail speices. Similar to Ballers in LA's Silverlake/Los Feliz neighborhood. Very knowledgable crew never upsell. Another "Yelper" said Marty is a smarty, and I agree. The whole gang is like that. Fun to just look around and have some of their complimentary strong, "workers" coffee (sometimes pop corn.) This area of low-key antique arcades and lgbt-friendly boutiques, sort of the "Sunny Dunes Design District, " is a fun way to spend a lazy afternoon. Have a beer at "Tool Shed." Don't miss the vintage car place, right across the street. read more

I have used this small hardware store multiple times and the only time that a salesperson has been truly helpful is in the paint Dept. The man is super personable and friendly. Today I asked a man who was wearing an industrial dust mask to help me in getting a cement bit, he started to, his body language indicated that he either didn't know what to get, anyway he appeared uncomfortable, I asked do you know about this because I don't. He said of course I do. And in a second he was gone. He was a big guy and the whole thing just left me shaken. From my observation this ACE caters to men. Ruined my morning. read more

I was working with Scott in the patio department looking to purchase one of their cantilever umbrellas. We spent a few days narrowing down my needs with what the store had in inventory. Scott, was great about texting me updates as they became available. Once i decided on the best one I arranged to come in and purchase a 10x13 sunbrella. Scott, set up delivery very quickly. On delivery day the guys came out to set it up and it was NOT the umbrella we had agreed upon. The delivery guys went back to the store to pick up mine and discovered the one I had agreed to purchase was not actually in their inventory. It had been mislabeled based on the box description. I called Scott's cell phone and we discussed him talking with the store manager to explain our process. Not 15 minutes later I received a call from Marty at the store and he offered to leave the umbrella that was previously delivered as loaner and allow me to order the exact one I wanted at the agreed upon price that Scott and I had worked on. The end result is I have never seen such great customer satisfaction emphasis with the team at the True Value Store in Palm Springs. This defines customer service in my book. So now, my 2 year old daughter can get the pool shade protection she needs until we receive our new umbrella which we ordered the next day. Thanks to Scott, and Marty for their heavy lifting as well as the great customer representatives in the Patio department for their knowledge and willingness to assist each other. This Ace has plenty of materials in stock but what's obviously on back order is customer service! My handyman business requires lots and lots of materials and when I work for my clients in Palm Springs I frequent the ace hardware in Palm Springs. But they really really need to have an all sales associate meeting and discuss this matter. The man who is tall with grey hair deep voice and glasses should not be in the front, he needs to be in the back. He is just not friendly and when I was returning a couple of items yesterday Friday I politely greeted myself and said hello, and the only words that came out of this man's mouth were," where's your receipt "? Now I'm very aware of people having a bad day, but my experience at this ace hardware in Palm Springs which is generally three times a week is always the same with this sales associate. Consumers should not have to avoid employees at this business but that just says somethings wrong. Palm Springs Ace Hardware owners and managers I won't stop coming there, I give Parker's hardware in Palm Springs my business also they may not have the selection Ace Hardware has but the one thing that parkers hardware in Palm Springs does have is plenty of great happy smiling helpful employees! read more

Nice store, stupid sales people with attitude, and I mean attitude. I decided to call, would you believe three calls before I could get someone to pick up the phone, especially after holding for almost 5 minutes with each time asked to hold. That adds up to 15 minutes holding, by the time I got someone. I asked if they had low-voltage dimmers in stock. They said they do. I said, I just purchased a fixture which is low voltage and in reading the material that came with it, I need an electronic low voltage dimmer and I even gave the brand name of Lutron. The sales person said, we have it, but you need to decide if you want white, beige, black..., I tried to stop him by saying white, he didn't care he just enjoyed hearing himself talk. I then sent my handyman to the store and once there, he asked for low voltage dimmers and he was told they is no such thing. He went to another sales person who said, all dimmers are alike, doesn't matter if they are low voltage, high or whatever. Amazingly stupid response, they should be shot, wasting people's time and money. Oh sure they say, if for any reason just return the item for a refund. And I should have learned my lesson from the time before when I went to the same store and purchased LED bulbs for my office. I told the sales person I was using these bulbs where we had a timer as the mechanism for turning the lights on and off. They told me it didn't matter the bulbs were perfect to use with any application. Once back at the office I took these bulbs out of their packaging material, which by the way were very expensive, standard for that kind of bulb, but nonetheless they were about $35 a bulb. Once put into the socket, they entire line of lights wouldn't work. I ended up calling in an electrician who informed that certain LED bulbs only work for certain switching, no dimmers and no times are compatible, unless specified. I subsequently had to call in an electrician to fix the problem. Which required not using the two $35 LEDs bulbs, and getting a new timer, plus paying the electrician some $200 to fix the damage caused. I went back to the store as I asked the entire question over, but to a different sales people who said the same thing. Stay clear of this store and the people who don't care one bit, horrible. read more
