I got my car towed by this company last night and while it's frustrating getting your car towed. I would say the more frustrating part would be when you are connected to the caller (after hours of operations) they say it will be $600 or so to get your car the same day. However, what they do not tell you is it will be cheaper to go the following day during hours of operation. Getting towed is expensive enough but at least they could let people know of this. They work in collusion with a shady security company called California Protective Services who tips them off to cars parked in Downtown Petaluma in a bank parked lot at 8:30pm on a Saturday night. Not blocking traffic, not parked in handicapped. Business parking lot that was closed on a Saturday night. $650.00!. An Uber driver drove us to an empty dirty lot where there were three tow trucks with very bright headlights. Our car was parked in a lot with several other cars that had been there for a very long time. No office. Not professional and at times threatening. This appears to be a racquet and not up to snuff with towing laws and regulations in California. More than likely a crooked company who is excessively opportunistic for their own gain. (YES we are PAYING customers) and walked over to the music in the plaza to check it out. We came back to find our truck gone. After doing a little digging this company employs a person to hide out and call the driver once patrons walk away to tow cars. No warning from this person even if you are a paying customer. Another fun fact, they may charge whatever they please and don't disclose a cost breakdown unless you specifically ask. Then by law they are required. **** They charge an extra $150 if you pick your vehicle up after 5pm**** but will not tell you unless you ask. The explanation I received from the driver is once you walk out you are no longer a customer. My car was towed for double parking in my own driveway the POS townhouse community I live in that has zero parking after 3pm. Of course, this is not the most splendid thing to wake up to (especially on NYE Friday morning before work), but it happens. The Pro: Kim is super rad, straight forward, knows exactly what to say and doesn't bullshit which is the reason for 3 stars. The Cons: They are closed on the weekends and still charge you $65 per day storage fee's. I ubered three times during the New Year weekend (extra fee's) just for there to be no one there at the time to allow me to get my car. One of the call center people told me (Saturday) that it was a $20/day storage fee so I left it until they were open today (Monday). The ubers back and fourth were double than this "$20/day" fee and it was raining so waiting on the phone outside just to hope someone was there to open the gate wasn't worth it. The driveway has about a foot long gash in the concrete from the tow. I understand "double parking" is a towable offense, this review is just for the towing damages and storage fee's when they weren't open to even let me get my car out. WARNING!!! Watch out for ACE Towing in Petaluma. My boyfriend and I were out and about yesterday with our two dogs enjoying the nice weather. We decided to stop at Volpi's in Petaluma to grab dinner. It was a little after 7pm so parked in the lot of a closed business across the street along with 2 other cars so the dogs weren't blocks away. We did not notice the towing sign. We were in the restaurant for about an hour since it was Friday night and the service was a little slower. We came out to the truck and dogs gone. They towed it with the dogs in it and locked it in a lot down Petaluma Blvd that was unattended. We had to wait almost 30 minutes for the driver (Jose or Jorge.....I was more worried about the dogs than his name) and once he got there, refused to even let me walk through the gate to check on the dogs until we paid the $600 fee. I understand that we parked in the wrong place but to not let me check on them is uncalled for. If anything, call the police and give me a parking ticket. I have stage 4 cancer and have trouble walking a long distance. I parked my van with current disabled plates on it in a handicapped spot behind what was once a bank in Petaluma when I lived there years ago. These heartless predators towed it while I was at dinner and I had to pay $600 to get it back. I needed it to get to my chemo treatment on Monday. I heard they towed the car of a disabled veteran a few weeks ago. They have no compassion for disabled people who need to park close to where they need to be. I get the towing of cars without a permit but they need to respect handicapped people as we are protected by the ADA. A company that will tow a disabled persons car should be out of business. Awful. Has towed my car TWICE from my own RESERVED parking spot for my house. I pay $500 a month for HOA and I only park in my reserved spot. I was in a car accident and lost my placard. Contacted HOA and they refused to respond to get me a new one. Well my car was towed THE DAY AFTER I got my car back from being repaired, and I made sure to park in my reserved spot that's for my house. Well I got towed immediately. Had to pay $440 for my car being there for an HOUR! Talked to the guy who checked me out and said he would put a note down that as long as my car is in my reserved spot they wouldn't tow me and that he would relay this to his manager. I was fine for 6 months. (During this time still arguing with HOA who is ran by people in their late 80s to get a placard) well, my car was towed last night AGAIN. Turns out they have a new driver. I explained to the lady and the new driver everything. Turns out the guy never put it in his notes, however he was the driver this whole time so he just never touched my vehicle. Well he didn't relay that to the new guy and the new guy towed my car. (The new guy was nice wasn't unprofessional but I'm still mad about having to pay) I call right away to get my car back AGAIN. I advised him I am disabled and can't walk far and my reserved spot is in front of my house so what would he liked me to do in the mean time. He stated I can't park IN MY OWN PARKING SPOT. And I would have to park on the street until then. He's definitely more strict than the last guy. They are out for middle class people, not people parking in front of hydrants or actually causing issues. I feel like they are after me. Somewhat I understand they have a job to do, however, imagine paying $500 a month for HOA, having a spot reserved only to your house, and getting your car towed, and it is expensive to get your car out. Look closely with whom they are associated and consider NOT doing business with G&C Body and certainly not ACE Towing I have used and have appreciated G&C for years. Never again and will beg, to the highest heaven, you reconsider picking them. I make this request due to a very different and disturbing experience with a related company, ACE Towing. G&C denies being part of ACE Towing and ACE Towing claims to be wholly independent. A sign posted in the tow office suggests otherwise in that employee paychecks come from G&C. For unrelated companies they seem to share a lot....like industrial complexes, storage lots and payrolls. ACE Towing is a predatory, malicious tow company which preys upon working class people and neighborhoods. The folks are rude beyond description and unethical to an unbelievable level. They lied through their teeth, lied in person, lied on the phone, lied to my face, lied about what they lied about earlier, accused me of lying and said that I m-f'ed them (you'd have to know me to know how remarkable both statements are) and continue to change up or down the story as needed to maintain the slightest toe hold on legality. I anticipate they will lie about my review if by chance they even care enough to read their reviews. They troll neighborhoods and private lots with whom they claim to have a contract but it's apparently a secret document. When I asked for a copy of the general agreement with the home owners association, they refused. They showed me instead an unsigned "specific" agreement to tow. When I asked for a copy of that, they said they couldn't give me a copy of the "signed" request and went through a silly procedure to redact the area which wasn't signed anyway so I couldn't see who didn't sign it in the first place. Huh? They either towed based on a general authorization/contract with the property owners which allows for certain tows when the property managers are not present or they towed based on a specific request to tow in which event the property manager or agent needs to be present and to sign the request. It seems like a door that can't swing both ways. No one likes to get towed, obviously. Needing to tow for public safety reasons should not be the basis for considerable private profit. For many, the tow fees from these predatory practices are the differences between rent or the cascading negative effects of losing a car. These type of night trolling and towing from working class neighborhoods or day time parking lots, most likely with illegal spotters and kick backs, appear to feature large in the business model of this company. The people I encountered would be thunderstruck to know there is a way of being in a contentious and occasionally adversarial business while still maintaining personal and professional integrity and, gasp, compassion. Read the reviews and you will see the same pattern and practice, emerge, time after time after time. One reviewer even remarked on a man taking pictures of cars before ACE Towing showed up to tow them. That's probably spotting and is illegal but most jurisdictions have bigger fish to fry. It would make an excellent investigative report, grand jury investigation or a class action suit. If you have a choice of which tow company to call, call any other tow company on the planet except for this one. There are some great ones in our area. However, we don't get to choose who tows are vehicles from lots or residential complexes, right? We do get to choose who does our body work. I am asking you to reconsider who does your's.
