Krissy is great. She is warm and generous and will make you feel cared for. When I arrived, she offered my a delicious, cold cup of water infused with ginger and goji berries. She also helped make the massage more affordable for me when I told her that I was a full time student living exclusively on federal loans and can only occasionally afford to splurge (usually before important tests!). First off, Krissy is so positive and truly loves what she is doing, which makes you feel better from the moment you step through the door. I've always been a traditional sports massage type of gal, so shiatsu was new to me. What I loved about it was when we were done I felt an amazing combination of calm but energized. After each session, I leave feeling progressively more grounded and in tune with the rhythms of my body. These sessions have been as helpful for my mental well-being as they have been for my physical health. I initially started seeing Krissy for help with a chronic upper-back strain. I'd previously gotten temporary relief with Swedish massage and acupuncture, but the low-grade ache would return after a day or two. Although I did not know much about shiatsu, the location was very convenient and the reviews I read about Krissy were positive so I decided to try it out. The first session was focused on overall relaxation and balancing; I left feeling great but the back pain followed the usual pattern of returning after a few days. The next week we tried cupping over the area, which is one of the oddest sensations I've ever felt- like a mini-octopus that lands on your back. I've seen cupping marks before and I was pretty sure it would be painful- but it turn out, nope, not painful, just really odd. Again, I left back pain free but it returned after about 5 days. I felt incredibly relaxed yet alert after the sessions and it seemed absolutely worthwhile even with the back pain returning. Like all good practitioners with multiple tools in her toolkit, Krissy listened to my feedback and decided to try another approach at the third session- a shiatsu shoulder series. Again, it felt great...and then the pain had not returned by the time next weeks session rolled around. Pretty cool, right? But I'm not throwing any parties yet. Another week goes by and still no pain. I kept waiting for the familiar dull, aching sensation to return...still no pain. It's been a few months now and my back is still pain-free. Frankly, I'm in awe of how Krissy's work seemed to re-set the musculature of my back, helping me to let go of years worth of covert tension. Krissy specializes in Shiatsu. I had never had it before, but was excited to try especially because you stay clothed during the treatment. No chance of drafts, or modesty issues ;) She does these rocking, kneading, and percussive movements all-over your body and coaxes your muscles to release. I love sessions with her because her style gradually builds in depth and intensity, so that your body isn't shocked into deep tissue work it isn't ready for just yet. She gets you there, but works you up to it, and listens to you and reads your body so that it isn't fighting against the work she is doing. I have seen her several times when I was beyond fatigued, and I swear as soon as I get off of her table my energy level is transformed. She absolutely kicked a month-long period of lethargy out of my body with one of her 60 minute sessions. No joke. She is amazing, and a good egg. Just a great energy to be around. read more

Krissy's Shiatsu is my favorite massage of all. She tunes right in to my rhythm and her touch sinks down to the exact place I need it most. Sometimes that place is deeper and sometimes it's actually lighter. Always it's exactly what I needed and I leave feeling more connected to myself. So I began my morning super excited for my 1 o'clock appointment with Krissy! Something I was looking forward to for some time. However, my morning turned crazy real fast, and little did I know just how much I needed to see her. Krissy handles herself professionally, but on a personal level. Nothing felt clinical, static, or uncomfortable. As soon as I arrived, I felt my worries, anxieties, stresses melt away just being in her presence. Her office is cozy and feels at home - matching her sweet disposition. She immediately checked in with me asking if there were any problem areas I needed to tell her about, or if anything (stress, anxiety) was manifesting physically that she could work on. This made me more confident in the fact that she was there to help me feel better, more at ease, and planning our next hour together. The entire experience was wonderful. From the beginning all the way through to the end, and there was never any point I felt uncomfortable or too close for comfort. Krissy made sure to check in about pressure and whether I needed anything to change....I only wished I had more time with her. The time goes fast FYI.
