Let me paint a picture for you all:…read more Friday morning, I sat down in my hotel room in Champaign with a bit of breakfast and my laptop balanced on the arm of the couch. The computer fell back, hitting the floor and popping the glass screen out of the shell (rendering the computer completely unusable). Four hours later, I made it back to Mundelein and brought my computer to the Computer Guys. Three hours after that, the Computer Guys called me to tell me my problem was fixable, how long it would take, and how much it would cost. The next morning, I received another call to tell me it was ready for pickup. I got to the shop, verified that my laptop was up and running, and I went on my merry way, fully-functioning computer in hand. In less than 24 hours, my computer went from functional to broken to functional again, and I couldn't have done it (and done it affordably) without the Mundelein Computer Guys. As long as I live in the area, I won't go anywhere else for my computer-related needs.

I do not recommend getting a laptop or computer repaired at this company. I dropped my Lenovo…read morelaptop and took it in for repairs. They told me they would call me later that day or the next. By halfway through the second day, I called them for an update. They said they were working on it. Three hours later, I called again, and they gave me the same answer. This time, they mentioned they were preparing a quote for the repair because the motherboard was damaged and it would cost $750. They explained that they would need to send it out to a specialty shop. However, they assured me they could back up my data, which I requested, and they did manage to do that. When I went to pick up the laptop, I noticed a plastic bag taped to it containing some hardware. I asked what it was, and they informed me it was the SSD (the new type of hard drive) from which they had retrieved my data. They did not reinstall it in the laptop, which I found puzzling, as I intended to take it to a locally owned computer repair shop for a second opinion. Having never opened a computer before, I thought, "What do I have to lose?" So I opened it up and found the connection point to reinstall the SSD. I had to go and buy a small screw to secure it, which they did not return with the SSD. To my surprise, when I turned on the laptop, it worked perfectly! I am not sure what they were doing for three days, other than backing up my data. Honestly, the store name should be changed to "We Break It, You Pay Us, and You Fix It."

We were pointed to this location through our phone insurance company, asurion, who provided us a list of locations that fix cracked phone screens for $29. Thankfully we only had a cracked phone screen situation. Of the three locations suggested, we chose the Vernon Hills location based on the great reviews. To make the appointment, we filed a claim and prepaid ahead of time. We were given a specific time to come in, and when we dropped off the phone we filled out a questionnaire to verify the diagnosis. We were told to come back in 1.5 hours. They called us at exactly 1.5 hours to come back and pick up our phone. When we picked up the phone, it was like nothing ever happened. The phone looks brand new, and it is brand new because my son just got the replacement after destroying his other phone two months ago! Take note, they used OEM parts and our phone was replaced with an original Apple screen. The phone repair is under full warranty. The business was clean and orderly, and the process was super duper easy. Nice waiting room with mints and a Keurig coffee machine. The employees were friendly and courteous and did everything they were supposed to do. To this day the phone is working like a champ!

Initial contact: They were extremely responsive when I reached out and I loved being able to schedule online (and there was a solid amount of availability. At the appointment: When it came time for the appointment, the technician (who was on time and fully communicative) went above and beyond in the best way. Not only did the technician answer my 100 questions and concerns about smart locks, but he also advised me my options with different locks throughout the property to balance safety and cost. I thought they would only replace the locks but they also were able to replace the doornobs, offering several appealing options in the style I wanted. They had a variety of options for locks too - regular door locks, deadbolts, and smart lock varieties. They even cleaned off the door all around the doornob because it was dirty and looked a little gross! My biggest joy has to be that they were able to use the same locks on multiple doors so we could use one key for all the doors, which is a lifesaver because I was startingbri appear as a janitor with so many keys, lol. After it was all done, they made me a bunch of copies of the key, which was helpful and honestly unexpected because I thought I'd have to go to Lowes after to do that myself given the million and one copies we needed for various family members. Vibes: it was such a seamless experience with an incredibly friendly, helpful, technician who treated my house with respect (eg no outside shoes inside) and was patient with my questions/concerns. Cost: Pricing was all competitive with other companies I considered. I picked up an older and quite rare car in Chicago and planned to drive it back home to NYC from Highland Park. I collect old cars and I already knew that keys for this car would be a challenge to find. The door locks were not working and I was worried about driving home and/or parking the car outside without being able to lock the car. I called a few local locksmiths who didn't want or know how to fix this. When I called Karl on the phone, he offered advice on how I might be able to fix this myself. It was a holiday weekend and, when my own efforts didn't free the locks, Karl made the time to come out and open up his shop. He stayed late on a cold and rainy night to make sure that we got everything sorted before my trip the next day. Karl was friendly, helpful and resourceful. He explained exactly what he thought it was, what he could try, and why he thought it would work. The locks had heavy corrosion and had not been used in a long time. Karl carefully disassembled the lock mechanism, got it to work and was able to get me back on the road safely and securely. Karl was a great find and I appreciate his dedication to go above and beyond to make me feel safe.

The basement is not entirely finished because it is used mostly by my teenage kiddos & their friends, but we did want an outstanding entertainment system for them to watch movies & play games. We opted for a projector & screen. We also wanted to integrate the Philips Hue system for a backlighting on the screen that coordinates with the picture. He & his colleagues built speaker boxes for us & the frame behind the screen upon which the lighting strip would rest. It came out amazing! They did an outstanding job. One year later, and all is still running smoothly. I have not had to reach back out to them for anything so far, but I was left with a strong impression that if we needed help with anything we would just be able to call.
