took my dogs here for annual exams in 2023 when we were in Tucson and their vaccines were due the year we werent by our regular vet. After careful reading and reviews, we chose this place. Well first off, they have a cat walking around the front waiting room at the clinic. Not really a good idea especially if there are dogs who come in with a high prey drive. Unfortunately one of my dogs were and they were stressed the entire time we were waiting. We eventually took them outside as they couldnt be in the same area as they kept trying to find the cat and we didn't want anything to happen. During this time the receptionists were looking at our direction and whispering to eachother - it felt very judgy and sorry for having an adopted dog that isnt good with cats ??? We were eventually taken to an exam room and the tech was nice. The vet eventually came in. Although he was very nice, I did not feel very good about my dog's exam. First off, he kept calling one of my dog's a boy for their exam... they are a girl. Their exams felt very half assed - he didnt even check their bellies (which vets do to make sure bellies aren't extended etc) He didnt check their ears. All he did was check their teeth. Idk for expensive exams, I at least would appreciate a thorough exam. When it was time for vaccines, what got me worried was he gave one of my dogs a vaccine- then he paused and looked at the chart looking concerned and confused trying to figure out which dog was which. I THINK HE GAVE THE WRONG DOG THE WRONG VACCINE (one dog needed rabies and an extra vaccine that year). He just kept going though. I couldn't help but think one of my dog's were uncovered the whole year. Overall the Dr and staff were nice (hence the extra star) I just personally wouldnt come back as I didn't feel my dogs got the care and thorough exam they needed. Also, when I get reminders for my pets I realized they put my name as Alexander... it's Alexandra. Again, just overall makes me feel they dont care- they dont double check things. read more

After moving to the Ina/Thornydale area, I went to PACC and adopted a gorgeous German Shepherd now named Loki. He's a special guy from a neglect case and was very underweight when I got him. PACC recommended Dr. Livingston and Acoma not only because they are close to me (me previous vet is way on the other side of town) but because they've worked with them before. PACC gave me a free vet check up certificate that Dr. Livingston and his clinic honored. This saved me the $50 examination fee. What I loved when I brought Loki in was that the front desk staff immediately greeted us. They were warm and caring. When we met Dr. Livingston he was very nice to Loki -- who we have learned is afraid/untrusting of men. Dr. Livingston said for the shots we would put a muzzle on Loki just to be safe. But after a bit of time, checking his temp, etc., Loki ended up relaxing. It was great that Dr. Livingston took the time to help Loki relax. It turns out Loki was infested with worms, so it was great they recommend a fecal exam as I wouldn't have considered it at the time. So even though I had a "free" check up certificate this vet went above and beyond to actually spend time looking my dog over. He spent lots of time with us and made us feel like part of the family. Of course I paid for shots and stuff, but this vet was spot on about his assumption Loki may be carrying worms. It wasn't something they just randomly decided to do, it was necessary and well worth it! I also recently took in a Great Pyrenees puppy now named Yeti and I instantly knew he'd need to see Dr. Livingston as well. Today we came in and got shots, a fecal exam, and his nails done. Yeti loved it! Dr. Livingston was just as caring, thorough, and explained why he recommended certain shots, explained the shot schedule (setting up three more follow ups is in our future!), and even said the next booster shots would be with a tech--which is nice because we don't need the "exam fee" for that. This is a great vet, staff are lovely, and they really made us feel welcome. They'll now be helping me take care of my pet family. Thanks for being great! read more

They should have been more thorough with testing. There was a possibility my dog could've had either valley fever or cancer. Even after testing negative for the former, the vet thought it could be a "false negative" and put on medication to treat VF. Never even bothered to check for cancer. Yesterday, I had to put my dog down due to guess what? CANCER. Do better. read more

Very upset with this clinic. I came to this clinic because I couldn't get one of my dogs who is sick into the pet doctor where I had gone. He ended up having to be put to sleep. He was so sick I have recently gotten a new dog who has ear infections and would be a new client for Acoma Vet Clinic called to get an appointment. Was told they couldn't see me until July 27. I asked if I could get medicine for the dogs ears they said no not less a vet is seeing me. That I should find another vet to go to to get medicine for his ears. I don't know what is happening with the businesses nowadays. I am a regular client who has spent quite a bit of money at this clinic. Taking care of my animals. If you can't get an appointment at your regular doctor when you need one what good is it to be a client of that clinic. I am very upset. I have a sick dog now I have to try and find a vet to see me that I've never been to before. read more

Our pet had to be put down, it was an emotional time, my children were there too, we stayed and said our goodbyes. We had her 13 wonderful years. I've been going to doctor Livingston for a few years now and should have written a review long before. When i brought my cat in, it was for a simple check up but Livingston had other concerns. He ran some tests, discounted everything as much as humanely possible so i could afford it, and discovered my cat had pretty advanced liver disease. If he hadn't insisted on tests and done them for so below the cost, my cat would have died. Now, she's on special food prescribed by Livingston and in full remission! He's this great EVERY time our animals go in, hes rhe best vet ive ever had. If you can wait for your first appointment (he has a waitlist) it's totally worth it. Dr. Richard Livingston is an outstanding veterinarian. His bedside manner is superb! I have been taking my dogs and cats to him for over 12 years, and have never been disappointed. He crams me in for any sudden emergency. He has a wonderful personality, tries to save me money on medication, trusts my judgement as a pet owner and listens to all of my concerns. I now live in southeastern AZ and still take my dogs and cats to him as I trust him implicitly. He also accepts Pet Assure insurance which reduces my bills by 25%. Few vets honor that method of insurance, which is very helpful. I highly recommend him, and will continue to use his services for years to come! read more

Dr. Livingston is one of the best Veterinary doctor I've been to. He's been caring for our pug for 10 years. We saw him last weekend because our pug had an infection in both eyes (due to old age and dry eyes). He spent over an hour with us treating Romney with absolute care and concern. I expected our bill to be over $500 and it was $315. Considering he spent so much time with us, administered multiple shots, and performed multiple tests on Romney, I was pleasantly surprised. Be careful to check your receipt before leaving this vet. They charged us for services that we declined (fecal float). They also never asked if we wanted the Bordetella Vaccine, which we would have declined because our dog is not around other dogs. Very disappointed and will be looking for a new vet. read more

In my opinion Dr Richard Livingston is grossly incompetent. He very recently saw my 11# dog with a very bad eye. He treated herand said come back in 4days. I did and he openly speculated on what to do instead of being honest that he very clearly knewso very little about eyes; sent me to a pharmacy to buy a $30 prescription that was not needed and said to come back and we would try something else. This was extremely painful and getting worse by the day. If he had been a competent vet....he would acknowledge his lack of expertise in eyes and referred me to a specialist instead of pretending to fix her eye and charging many dollars for his worthless and costly appointments. Since the day I met him, he has always done everything possible to help my pets, and I have taken multiple to him now. Dr Livingston performed a very difficult cancerous tumor removal surgery on our dog. We couldn't really afford it so he gave us an estimate with a discount.
