The staff went above and beyond making sure my cat felt comfortable. I got him from the Humane Society, he has some trust issues with people and really only likes me. Dr. Clark and the technicians listened to me when I said that he doesn't do well with restraint and really just needs some patience. We worked as a team to make sure he was comfortable and stayed that way. He ended up being able to relax at the end of our visit and even made biscuits on my lap while I spoke with the technician about our next steps. I am so happy that I have a place where I can take him and my other cats that wont overwhelm them, and they listen to my concerns and his thoughts (hisses) as well. read more

Had a 12 hour fasting blood draw appointment for my dog, they were to feed her a high protein food and then do another blood draw because she had elevated liver enzymes. Scheduled appointment verified it the day before verified four days before. Got in there at 8:30 in the morning after taking half of the day off from work and they had to reschedule cause they didn't have the food in. Incompetency at the highest. Making my dog, go hungry rescheduling my work appointment and work schedule because they had already used the food earlier in the week. They push heartworm medicine like crazy and blue buffalo dog food. I like my Hill science diet and have had two vets recommended and my other vet who is a family member feels that Hills science is better than Blue Buffalo. read more

Very hard to get ahold of this office. Get text messages constantly that my dogs need exams. Not at there prices. First time I have ever been charged for a needle disposal. I have a container for needle disposal and the container costs less then what they charge. Even for just vaccines it costs me over $300.00. read more

I made an appointment for my dog several days in advance. The day of my appointment I received a call from someone in the office stating the Doctor would be out sick, on the voicemail that was left were given two options for potential appointments and asked to call back to schedule. I promptly called back in less than 10 minutes. Those two appointments were taken, and a new appointment was scheduled. I showed up the day of the appointment at the time I was told, and they could not find my appointment in the system apparently, even though I was told one day and time for an appointment that was not documented and noted. And it was marked in the system that I had missed an appointment. I tried to explain this situation to whomever was in the front office, and they refused to listen to me stated I would have to pay a cancellation fee and would not be able to be seen for quite some time. This is not the first time there have been issues scheduling appointments for my pets. I will be finding a new vet who actually sees patients without scheduling mix ups. read more

I was very hesitant to take my 16 year old dog in for dental surgery. The doctors and techs were all so wonderful with him and did an amazing job. Okay, we're going to leave cost out of the picture here, because going to the vet is always expensive. We took our two dogs there for some routine stuff and it set us back a bit, BUT if you are looking for a veterinarian that truly cares about your animals, then Spanish Trail is the right place for you. Dr. Deshazer really took time to connect to our two dogs, pet them, talked to them, gave them treats etc. Most places you see the vet tech 90% of the time and they do all the work, but this Dr. did most of the work and was in the room almost the whole time. He even did the nail trimming! We have since moved to California and I really miss being able to take our dogs there. read more

Very well managed and caring vet practice. Truly seem concerned about your dog and are extremely helpful. Dr Deshazer is a real stand up guy who shows compassion and a real knowledge of veterinary medicine. You never get the feeling that they are just running up unnecessary bills. In all that time everyone we've dealt with has been knowledgeable, professional and friendly even though our pooch took several chunks out of the doctor on the first visit. How can I sum up what a wonderful experience we had at this clinic in just a post? The vet we normally see is on vacation until September and our big boy needed to be seen right away. My mother used to take our family dogs to this clinic so we decided to give them a try. The entire staff was friendly and welcoming. They were very gentle with Zayn and didn't rush any part of the exam. Dr D was so nice. You can really tell he has a passion for his profession. His professionalism, caring demeanor and heartfelt concern will keep us coming back as clients. Bloodwork was drawn and he called us the very next morning to let us know the results. I love his approach to treating my pets as he would always give options and then describe what approach he would take if it was his pet. Our put whos 16 weeks wasnt thrilled to be there but the doctor was great with her and her big sister. Not only that, but since we're still relatively new to Arizona the vet gave us tons of advise on the critters and the weather for the dogs and even our cats (which werent there). Unfortunately we have been having problems with the Vet here. I'm in the military moving overseas and needed a Form filled out and signed by the Vet confirming that my dog got its rabies vaccine a couple of years ago. After three calls we had to finally go to the clinic to ask if the form been signed. We were then told that he would not sign our form that the military gave us, but instead fill out a form that they use. This will cause us to leave the dog behind and Incur a $500 boarding fee because of quarantine issues and time frames. read more

We've been coming here forever. He was the first one to help us correctly diagnose and treat our Rottie that had immune issues from overbreeding. Our Rottie eventually passed which was traumatic for us. We eventually adopted 2 more dogs from the Humane Society. Dr correctly diagnosed the German Shepherd with Pannus. He helped us through 12 years with our 2 dogs from routine appts and then through cancer. Eventually our Rottie mix and German Shepherd mix passed at around age 15. We once again adopted another dog. We are bringing our new 6 year old Rottie mix to here. We wouldn't trust anyone else. read more

My experience was good the first visit, although very pricey. However, I brought my little, elderly dachshund named Bubba in for a nail trim. we weren't greeted at the front desk, the technician ( who said it was her first day ) knocked over a canister of long Q-tips and tongue suppressors onto the floor. She not only put them all back and on the shelf, she added the dirty one she put into Bubba's ear. I called her attention to it as she walked away. I waited for over 1 hour because the vet techs don't trim the nails, the doctor does. He was with a new patient, and just as he had done days prior with us, he talked excessively about what a great guy he is. I was feeling neglected and told his staff that maybe I should just go because my poor baby by now had been trembling in my aching arms for 1 hour and 15 minutes. Finally, he came in, and said that he had no time to hear any of my concerns, he was backed up with clients. He was so angry that I told him about the dirty Q-tips and the long wait that he was shaking with rage. He made it very clear that I was wasting his time, and that he needed to hurry. I left only to have a very sweet technician beg me to come back since Bubba's nails were long and in need of a trim. My poor baby screamed with each very short clip. Dr DeShazor showed no compassion whatsoever, but stated that it was all show for my behalf, yet with the same breath he admits his qwicks were grown out. He removed Bubba from the room where he couldn't see me, and the screams were so heartbreaking I ran into the back room to find Dr. DeShazer mopping up blood from Bubba's barely visible nail. I demanded he stop and give me Bubba so we could get out of there. He actually hesitated while glaring at me with such hatred looking as if he might hit me. His very sweet assistant ran after me crying and apologizing profusely while my shaking hands fumbled for the car keys. This is a case where a man who took an oath to do no harm should be held accountable for his lack of control over his anger. If I had been the doctor, and had been so unhappy with a client who took me to task over how I run my clinic, I would have said that I couldn't be of any help feeling as angry as I did. And I would have gladly been on my way. I left once for that very reason, and now I could kick myself for coming back in when I could see how angry he was. I will be reporting him to whatever agency issues his license as well as all disciplinary boards. ANIMAL LOVERS BEWARE. read more

I have been a lifelong client of Spanish Trail Pet Clinic. My mother always did, and now I take all my animals there. Over the years Dr. DeShazer has taken care of many dogs and cats and most recently, my younger cat Xena. What is great about him is that you can tell he is not driven by the dollar, because he actually spends time with the pet and makes friends, giving treats, and he also tries to get to know the owner on a more personal level as well. Since I have been taking my pets there for over 20 years, he knows me and my family well, and asks about them frequently. What is nice is that he remembers my pets' names, both past and present, and remembers their birthdays even. He may not be the cheapest, but any veterinarian will cost you. But I will gladly pay whatever he charges, because he is the best vet I have ever seen. And the staff is super nice. My cat is not afraid at that place, which is nice because she was terrified of a previous veterinarian. read more

I recently took my elderly beagle into this clinic for an exam and felt very comfortable putting her care in their hands. All the staff, from the front desk to the vet tech (Briana) to the vet, were extremely friendly and welcoming. My wife took our cat who was vomiting and had become lethargic into these people. With only feeling the outside of the stomach of our cat they told us that the bladder was obstructed from crystals due to hard water. My wife was told that the only option was a $1300 treatment that included a 2 or 3 day stay at the vet or we could put the cat down. My wife asks if there was any other option as we could not afford this and she was told no. After being called by my wife with her crying and explaining the options I drove down there and because I didn't trust them I said we would just take our cat home and get another opinion the following day but they told me I would be causing the cat to suffer and they would most likely die that night. Not wanting to make the cat suffer I told them the only option was to put the cat down. I signed all the paperwork and said goodbye to our cat. I told the vet we were ready and he then came in and said his staff and wife were crying and upset and they were going to just drain the bladder and send him home to give him a chance for what we had already paid to have the cat put down. They tried to make me believe that they were doing me a favor but looking back they were trying to get more money from our love for our cat. After draining the bladder I was told there were no crystals( which they told me they were sure about and had seen many times before) so we took our cat home and he was perfectly fine after this. If you don't mind being guilted into paying more money then go visit these assholes. If you want to be treated honestly and fairly then go anywhere but here. read more
