I love this place. Originally visited the Florence venue and then went several times to the DC location before it relocated to Annapolis. Love the vibe of the Annapolis location and the food is consistent across the locations. Our waiter was lovely and attentive. We ordered a number of their speciality cocktail drinks - the Italian version of spicy margarita was the table favorite and one of the old fashioned variations came out a little funky and they corrected it immediately. We started with the pasta sampler - do not miss this! Especially enjoyed the pesto gnocchi, the vodka penne and the mushroom linguine (or bucatini). The rotini with an arribiatta had a bit too much basil for me and not any spice, and we have no idea what the last one was - because they didn't explain it properly and it came after the secondi meat dishes were served. They could have done a better job timing it out. Also recommend you do not order per person for the pasta sampler - order less than the number of people you are because you'll want to leave room for other things. The eggplant parm app was phenomenal! The bread kept flowing to soak up all the different sauces. Our secondi dishes were the steak sampler - do not miss the blueberry filet - either in the sampler or as a full entree. It is a huge not sweet surprise. It is one of the reasons I keep coming back to this place. The balsamic reduction filet is also another not to miss dish. In our sampler we had a third steak with parm and some lemon - it was also delicious as it focused more on the cut of meat and less on the accompanying sauces. Have also tried several other steaks here and the last night the ribeye with the capers were underwhelming compared to everything else. Rounded the meal out with sautéed spinach - yum - and asparagus (too Woody/fiber-y) for me. The Good: Attentive, courteous service. Warm, rustic ambiance. Excellent risotto (we had the porcini), tasty sauces served on the meat (we had the brandy peppercorn and the mushroom sauce). Italian cheesecake was light and flavorful. The Bad: Surprisingly, the Veal Porterhouse and New York Strip steak were significantly sub par in quality and tough. My steak was nearly inedible. I left more than half on my plate, because got tired of chewing. The Ugly: Steak knives are so dull, you could let a 5 year old play with them. We went through 4 to find only one that could cut through the meat at all. We would go back IF the quality of the meat significantly improves. And for the love of God, replace the knives! read more

Giving three stars for the food but the service was surprisingly bad. Whoever is working as a host or manager is very rude. We had a reservation for two and our friends for four. We asked if we could seat together and we're told " absolutely not, to call ahead next time" . My friend explained that he called ahead and was told reservations cannot be made for more than four people. He also mentioned that whoever answered the phone was rude and short on the phone. I think the food was really good and most likely the reason why the restaurant was full. This restaurant came highly recommended from a friend. We really wanted to love it. We went for Easter dinner and it was possibly the worst meals we've ever had. We would leave zero stars if we could. The food is mediocre for the price and to make it even worse the server was so inattentive--it's as if we were keeping her from something much more important. Interestingly enough she was much different with the next table, even giving someone a hug at that table. On to the food, the Caprese salad lacked flavor and there really isn't much room to mess this up. The Insalata di Rucola e Pera was apparently tossed in a lemon vinaigrette but ours must have been missed. We also ordered another dish that our server forgot to bring and when asked said "oh, sorry". Our server again for the win couldn't be bothered to tell us the Parmigiana al Forno dish was super hot--would have been nice to know before I reached for it. My husband and I ordered the filet mignon, mine was overdone and his was cold and chewy which is interesting for that cut of meat that is supposed to be delicate and melt in your mouth. The rest of my family didn't fair any better with an overcooked and mushy Tagliatelle al Ragú Toscano. Looking at my family not enjoying their meal during Easter dinner in what is supposed to be one of the best restaurants in Annapolis, I quickly realized the chef must have taken the night off to be with his family for Easter dinner. I'm sure they had a better meal. To top this lovely night off--I paid via Apple Pay with the square from my check, tipped, double clicked for payment, waited for confirmation and as I stepped out of the restaurant our sever came running out screaming "Ma'am! You didn't pay!" I was mortified. I had to go back in and physically pay with my card. If a business is going to offer Apple Pay they must ensure first, that it actually works. read more

I'll give the food 4.8 out of 5.0! It's great food. Pasta sauce is on point with flavor and pasta itself is cooked perfectly. What drug this down to a 3.0 is the service. For having barely any reservations available I'd think this place would check all boxes. But when I stepped in - god forbid the hostess greet me. Like no hello. No welcome. No How can I help you. Then the gentleman who sat me - no chance I was gonna get service with a smile. My presence was bothering him. We sat at a table with chairs, not a booth. But I can completely see how others noted in the reviews the booths looked really tight. The waitress was good. Nothing out of this world. We asked for a food accommodation for just preference reasons. They couldn't deliver on it. Didn't think it was a big ask. Overall, go here for good pasta. The food is delicious, the service is top notch, and it's conveniently located at the top of Main St. Your only challenges will be securing a table at this new yet already popular spot, and finding a place to park (we recommend Gott garage on nearby Calvert St.) Prices are reasonable for the quality of food and service. Enjoyed our dinner at Acqua Al 2. A relative had been to their restaurant in Florence and wanted to try the Annapolis location. While it was a nice evening, they still have a lot to work on. The Maitre D'/Manager was quite direct to his staff barking out orders related to seating of another group. He was probably trying to manage a busy Wed nite, but he did it in earshot of waiting customers. Not a good look. The restaurant was quite crowded, and some seats were awfully close to other tables. Our service was ok (the waitress was pleasant and knowledgeable but for the cost of things here I think checking on us more would have been good). I think she had too many tables. Food was ok. Blueberry steak was fantastic. The pasta dishes and salad were honestly bland (better than Olive Garden but not by much). The side dishes of potatoes and asparagus were sub-par and didn't have much flavor. They did not arrive with our meals. With drinks, tax, and tip it was $270 for three people (and two of us had pasta). So honestly, I'm not sure it was worth it. Probably will not return as the value didn't cut it. This restaurant is badly managed, and no one is paying attention to how seating is designed. Two tops don't belong in a room of parties of 6-10 people. The booth was just right for the four of us. Kevin was out waiter and can't say enough about how attentive and engaged he was. Definitely recommend asking for him. We were excited to get a last minute reservation here on a Sunday night. We started with the trio salad, which was delightful. We also ordered the tasting of 5 pastas, which were very flavorful, but sadly, we didn't taste the 5th one because.... they never served it to us. Our waiter apologized when we told him we had been waiting for the 5th pasta and went to check the kitchen. He didn't come back to update us, and so we asked for the check since we were ready to leave (we had waited over 30min by that point). When we asked again about the last pasta, he insisted that the kitchen had sent it out. He then said he would have the kitchen box us the last pasta for us, only to find that the pasta he boxed was a pasta dish he had already served us. All to say, we never tried the 5th pasta, and we are curious to what it was! The food was great, service was disappointing, and oh, the bathroom had a smell that could be improved with a simple diffuser or a candle. read more

We took her recommendations and were extremely pleased. Had the pasta appetizers for 3 and there were 6 of us. The other 3 had small bites of some of them. They were all very well done and a great suggestion. 4 of us had the filets done 3 ways. We all loved this! The other 2 also had steaks since we had many apps of pasta. Very unorganized and rude staff. We sat, had a few drinks, paid the tab. The bouncer stopped us upon exit and would not let us leave until a receipt was produced. We had to go back, find the bartender, and get a receipt print out which was a TOTAL waste of our time. What is odd is that the people ahead of us walked out and nothing was asked of them. It's seems the bouncer may have been instructed to target us specifically for reasons unbeknownst to us. We totally regret spending as much as we did here and will not be returning to this establishment. read more

Went here with my wife for our wedding anniversary. Firstly, I want to say that I love the ambiance of this place and the friendliness of the waitstaff. I ordered the 50/50 drink and it was amazing. Now for the bad... The bread brought to the table with oil was not good. My wife is not one to turn bread down but, she took one bite and put it back in the basket. She ordered the Cannelloni Ricotta e Spinaci. The cannelloni pasta was overcooked and the consistency of Elmer's glue however, the interior of her meal was cold which didn't make sense. I ordered the Lamb Papardelle. How they justify $32 for this dish is beyond my belief. The portion size of not only of the meal itself but of the amount of lamb they put in this dish is comical; this restaurant should honestly be ashamed of itself. Getting on to the taste. What little amount of lamb they did put in this dish was overcooked and tough. I took maybe two-three bites of this dish and let it lie. The flavors were not good and our entire meal was down right nasty. I would not recommend this place. We were asked by three different waitstaff if we wanted boxes to take our leftovers home and each of them looked perplexed when we declined. The ambiance and price tag to come with this place is obviously a facade. read more

I gave this restaurant two stars because I wanted to get people's attention. I do want to first say that the food is great, but we had an interaction with the staff that I think needs to be addressed. My husband and I went to their Valentine Day dinner and it was nice and the food was great. So, we decided to return which we did the following week to have more of their pasta which was great. HOWEVER, we walked in the restaurant and they wanted to seat us in the back. If you know the lay out of the restaurant, the back is dark and at the time there wasn't anyone else seated in the back. So, I informed the waiter that we wanted to sit up front and I pointed to a booth. They took us to a table in the middle of the restaurant. At this time I was becoming very frustrated and told them that I wanted to sit at the booth. I was not being loud or argumentative, but I was very clear about where I wanted to sit. They bought out a large black man, I assumed that he was the manager? Anyway, he introduced himself, shook our hands and asked us where we wanted to sit and then escorted us to our preferred seat. My husband and I felt that they were treating us as people who were being disagreeable. As we happilly sat at the table we saw two white couples come in and were seated, Both couples requested to move to other tables and their wasn't any objection. Matter of fact one of the waitress said to a couple that we just want to make you happy, have a good meal. WHAT???? Staff need to learn to treat all patrons equally,I will end it there. read more

It looks attractive inside but I didn't enjoy the food. I had lentil soup and lobster linguini. My dish seemed to have a huge portion of lobster in it which was a nice surprise but the red sauce was bland. The lobster seemed prepared well but I couldn't finish it because of the sauce. The space is small and cramped so the staff bumped my chair every time they walked past. In fairness to the restaurant I didn't speak up about my complaints. Still, I can't recommend it. read more
