So after eating in this restaurant for maybe 50 times over the years from the week they opened up while living in Weston and close by I realized that I had never written a review when my family returned while visiting the area again (after moving to California). It was a few years since our last visit to Aqualina we had to have our favorites and happily they were still on the menu, the Chicken Parm, the Gnocchi with Vodka sauce, the Caesar Salad, Pasta E Fagioli soup, Sautéed Calamari Arrabiata and of course that wonderful bread to dip into the amazing sauces. I remember when Aqualina opened in a space that was previously two failed restaurants and after eating there the first time wishing for them to make it. I guess the secret is great food, great service, a wonderful atmosphere and fair prices. I should have written this review years ago, but better late then never. read more

This was my second time eating here. We sat outside by the lake which is nice. We were a group of 35 people, celebrating my niece's Bat Mitzvah. They came around with appetizers first, which included calamari, and meatballs For our entrees they had chicken parmesan, steak and veal cutlets. Hmmmm I teetered between three or four stars for this place. After an afternoon of internal deliberation I decided that this place was better than "okay," and deserved a good rating. The highlight of the entire experience for my family was the outdoor patio seating. My girls loved looking at the things in the pond behind the restaurant, and since the weather was nice it really added to the charm of the outdoor area. The other thing that gave this place it's higher than "okay" rating was the staff that assisted the servers. They really made it feel like they loved doing their job and that it was their pleasure to serve you. However, the rest of the experience was just "okay." Our server was slow, the food was even slower (at one point there were four tables outside and two of the tables seated after us had received their food before us), and the food didn't top the charts of fabulous Italian food. The girls ordered plain spaghetti (It is painful to have to order that out, lol), and I can give them that their spaghetti seemed to be cooked perfectly. My husband's dish, which was a special was "pretty good." My dish is kind of where it just went totally "meh." The noodles were cooked right, but the chicken was underwhelming (the piece didn't seem particularly fresh to me), and the sauce proportions seemed off. I almost forgot to mention the soggy Caesar that my husband and I shared beforehand. If someone wanted to come here I wouldn't say no. However, I will not be taking my family of four back. In my opinion, the bottom line is that at the price point they are serving food at you can get better Italian elsewhere. read more

This restaurant is incredible. The food was really great and the service was excellent. My wife and I decided to try this location because it was suggested to us by a few other people. We made a reservation and were seated immediately. I didn't realize that they had outdoor seating and thus, we will be sitting outside next time. It's a little quieter out there. The server greeted us right away and took our drink order. Since we weren't in a rush, we ordered the stuffed mushrooms and took our time. The water glasses were refilled promptly and I think I only had to ask once for more water. The bread was fresh and seemed to come right out of the oven. We did inform the server that we weren't in a hurry since our kids were at an event for another two hours. He honored this and told us to let him know when we wanted the entrees to be placed. We split the chicken marsala and the seafood orzo. They replaced the orzo with pasta and it was really good. The chicken marsala came with two large chicken breasts and plenty of mushrooms and sauce. We also ordered a side of broccoli and a baked potato. We probably didn't need the broccoli since we only ate a little bit of it. The service was exceptional throughout the entire dinner. We decided on the tiramisu for dessert. I only had a few bites of it and it was pretty good; my wife ate the rest. Everything about this experience was top notch. It is kind of pricey and not somewhere that we can afford to go often; however, we will be back. It's perfect for a date night or a special occasion. When I don't feel like making my own Stuffed Artichokes, I will drive to CJ Blacks and either eat in or bring it home. I was pleasantly surprised when I saw Acquolina offered stuffed Artichokes on their menu and was close to Southwest Ranches. I ordered a take out order, picked it up, came home and saddled up to the table to enjoy. But! unfortunately the whole thing went into the garbage and was a waste of 20 bucks. It had absolutely no flavor whatsoever. I did catch a glimpse of a couple of pieces of garlic but overall, it pretty much tasted like soggy breadcrumbs. After multiple more visits since 2017 this place has gone consistently downhill as their food has become in my opinion terrible. In this past week and this will be my final visit here as they simply can't make a Veal Dish worth eating I mean absolutely INEDBILE the last few times I've been here. No matter the sauce, Francese, parm, marsala, whoever is the purchaser of veal here should be fired. It is tough, spongy, chewy, in fact it doesn't even look or taste like veal. Maybe they are using pork cutlets won't be the 1st time I've seen this done in the industry. The Francese the other evening was the worst dish ever presented. The sauce was a combination of burnt oil and butter topped with some lemon. INEDIBLE some of the other dishes should never be served again. We have been to Acquolina many times. I always have the grilled spicy Calamari. The second to the last time I was there, I was not impressed by the dish. It had a very heavy tomato sauce. I could not eat it all, did not like it. We went again after a few months. Order my favorite dish again... the grilled calamari, and again the sauce was very tomatoei. Very disappointed. The resto has a really great charm to it. The waiters were always eager to ask and help with our meals. We ordered the calamari as an entree, the salmon, Gnochi, and oysters for dinner. The food was delicious with some of my personal preference being the salmon and oysters we had for dinner. I would definitely visit again. Came for an early dinner a few weeks ago with my boss and coworker. We sat outside on their back patio taking advantage of the cooler weather. With that said, even though it was cool out there were still a ton of mosquitos eating me alive. I know they can't control but just to be aware since their outside dining is on the water. We ordered a bottle of wine and a few entree's to share. The steamed mussels and baked clams were definitely a favorite. Pro tip - use their fresh toasty bread to soak up all the tasty sauces! Their lobster ravioli was good but I couldn't tell if there was actually lobster inside. Kind of a let down. The standout dish to me was the spicy calamari that wasn't fried. I've never had calamari that wasn't fried and served as an appetizer before so quite impressed with the quality and flavor and would definitely order that in the future. Service was outstanding and punctual. All of their staff were great actually. It was a very white glove dining experience which I didn't expect so definitely impressed. If you're looking for an upscale Italian dining experience, Acquolina is definitely at the top of my list. read more

I have been avoiding Aquolina for sometime because of the mixed reviews from friends and Yelp. We decided to check it out on a Friday night when we knew that our go to Italian restaurant would be packed and we wanted something a little different. We were seated right away, which was good when you have a hungry and tired 6 year old. Service was very friendly. You can tell many of the customers were regulars by the conversations. We didn't feel ignored as were treated very well. We started with the stuffed artichoke. It was steaming hot. It was good...not great...but good. It had a lot of garlic, so you'd think it would be super flavorful, but it wasn't. My 6 yr old enjoyed it, so that's all that counts. You can order the food family style or 1/2 portions...which are still pretty shareable. My daughter had the kids penne and a meatball. She devoured it and said the meatball was good. Husband had the frutti de mar. It looked delicious. He liked it. I tasted the sauce with some bread and found the sauce salty and fishy. He agreed it was a bit salty. He ordered it with whole wheat penne. I thought it was nice there were 2 choices for whole wheat pasta. Most places have only 1. I had the baby spinach salad minus the Gorgonzola cheese. It has pistachios and cranberries. It was a salad. The 1/2 order was enough to share. I also had the sautéed string-beans. They were okay. A bit overcooked. Also ordered the 1/2 order and it was plenty to share and take home. We didn't have dessert but they had some nice selections. I've been wanting to try this place for quite some time, several of my friends had been talking about it for a long time. Finally we go. We walk in, it's busy, but there's plenty of tables available. No wait at a prime time on a Friday night. In side it reminded me of an upscale NY city Italian restaurant. White table cloths, servers with suspenders and very dim lighting. The service is excellent and not just our server, it seemed like all the staff was friendly and extremely helpful. We started out with the stuffed artichoke. It came out nice and hot, lightly stuffed with bread crumbs and garlic, served in a buttery cream sauce. Just delightful! After came out our meals, they timed it perfect, it came out shortly after we finished the artichoke, unlike other places I've been were the food comes out while I'm still working on it. I had fruit De mar. Clams, mussels, shrimp and calamari served over whole wheat pena pasta. Although it was a bit salty, it tasted real good. The calamari was my favorite part, it was so tender it practically melted in my mouth. My wife had a spinach salad and a side of sauteed green beans. The spinach was so fresh and served with a real good balsamic vinegar dressing. The green beans, wow they were that good. My daughter had a meat ball and pena, it must of been good, she didn't even save me a bite. This is another really great Italian restaurant in West broward. read more

John and his crew are the crème de la crème. My wife and I had our baby shower here yesterday. Not only was the crew at Acquolina very accommodating, they went above and beyond to make sure every single one of our guest we treated right and happily fed. The food, the drinks, the ambiance all deserved a chef's kiss. Love this place and it meant everything how they took care of our families with the upmost care from start to finish. I have never given five stars but this place is a must. I'm reluctant to post this review as the food and service is 100% on point. I have eaten Italian food everywhere (New York, Chicago, LA, Wash DC Baltimore etc) and by far this place is the best. My first time here I did not post as I was wondering is it was just an anomaly because it was a weekday and you know not as busy. Well came back on a Saturday and WOW WOW did not disappoint. My first visit was a special of Muscles rope pasta, capri salad and carpaccio which was all excellent. My second visit I went with a Beef rib, carpaccio and roasted octopus. Look all I have to say is you got to come here whether you're a local or from out of town this is the Italian restaurant to eat in . Came to Acquolina on a Thursday night with reservations for a nice family dinner. Our party was 6 adults and one child which were promptly sat at a round table, not too far from the bar. The bar was busy for a Thursday night, yet this is a pretty popular happy hour spot in Weston, FL. Our waiting service was satisfactory. The menu is filled with a variety of dishes and even hosted a menu of specials. It took a great deal of time to get appetizers, which were ordered shortly after we sat. To start, we had the Burrata off the specials menu, Gnocchi Pesto pasta, and two salads; Baby Spinach and The Floridian. All items were very flavorful and fresh. Great proportions to share. Our main meals consisted of three orders off the specials menu consisting of: Chicken Rigatoni, Blackened Shrimp Alfredo, and a alternative of shrimp for Blackened Chicken Alfredo. The Lasagna Bolognese Al Forno and Vodka with Prosciutto Pasta were ordered off the main menu. Since I ordered the Chicken Rigatoni, I can say it was spicy. The taste resembled to a spicy buffalo chicken sauce. From the dessert menu, we ordered: Pistachio Tartufo, Cannolis, and Vesuvio Cake. The Pistachio Tartufo came prepared with chocolate and vanilla ice cream slices, wrapped in a chocolate shell with a cherry in the middle. The Cannolis came stuffed with ricotta cream cheese and little chocolate chips. The Vesuvio Cake is a brownie based layered with N.Y. cheesecake topped with chocolate mousse and chocolate ganache. My favorite out of the three desserts was the Vesuvio Cake! It was rich, due to the N.Y cheesecake, but wasn't overbearing in the dessert. The chocolate mousse and ganache left the dish in no shortage of chocolate flavor.
