Whenever I have a problem with tires, I go straight to Action Al's. There is no alternative in DC.

Ordered rims and 4 tires. They got the rims in and tires in a week. I had an issue with the lug nuts and they took care of that as well. Very friendly people. read more

Good customer service is hard to come by these days, but Action Al's is a rare gem. I called the night before a rode trip needing 4 new tires for the low. My old ones cost me like $350 and they were old, but Action Al's had them beat my more than $100! And they gave me orange juice too! Hopefully I wont need to go back anytime soon, but I will definitely recommend them and stay a loyal customer. read more

THEY SAVED THE DAY! Our two front tires went out. Both of our rims were bent. The guys here were able to unbend the rims to the point where they were drivable. They were careful and did not damage the our tire pressure censors. They atmosphere was very up beat and the staff was very pleasant. BEST OF ALL I spent under $100 for EVERYTHING! Stay away from Action Al's Tires on 2515 Bladensburg Road in North East Washington, DC! On Feb 4, 2019 I went to their shop to buy a tire at the recommendation of my mechanic. Dave (the 50 something y.o. son of the owner) asked me if I want a "remanufactured tire" or a "new tire? I responded: "I want a brand new tire." So I bought from them and paid $84+ for what was purported to be a "new tire." Twenty six days later (on Saturday, March 2, 2019) the tire suffered a catastrophic failure. Yesterday (Wednesday, March 6, 2019), I returned the damaged tire to them expecting a new tire replacement at no cost. After all my was still under strict product liability warrantee of DC and the Federal Government and the law. They refused to honor their legal obligation. In stead, they attempted to induce me to buy a new one. When I politely told Dave, "that's not going to happen. I need you to honor your strict liability obligations" or "we'll let a judge decide the matter," that's when he blew up on me, raised he voice; claiming that I hit a pot hole and therefore the city of Washington, DC is responsible, not Action Al's Tires. Not even I the owner and driver, knows what happened to the tire. But he claims he does. Then he offered: " I can give you a used tire. I can put a used tire on it. But that's the best I can do for you." But before I can even consider his offer, his old man got up from behind the counter and yelled at him "don't give him a used tire!" Then he stared at his son for a few more seconds as if transmitting an unspoken message. With that, Dave turned to me and said "Well you heard it yourself. I can't even do that now." With that, I asked (twice) that they give be back my tire because I'm not going to stay there and argue with him. The young worker came out and tried to hand me a bare tire rim (the metal part of the tire). When I asked him where's the rest of my tire for the tire. He said "it's damaged. I thought..." That's when I cut him off and told him "I need my entire tire assembly, the same way you guys took it out of wheel well." Unbelievably, these con men wanted me to abandon my tire there I suspect so they can repair it and possibly sell it to someone other unsuspecting customer. After all, It was used for only 26 days! After he reassembled the rim and the tire, refused to roll it outside to my car. Dave asked another worker to help me and take it to the car. That worker ignored him and appeared angry because Dave was taking him off a job he was already working on. Now, no one at Action Al's had any time for me, now that they know I'm not going to be spending money at their business. When I followed the guy to the car tire he was working on and politely asked him "bro man can you please just return the tire to my car, like Dave asked you to do?" Without even looking at me, he responded, "you can move your f-ing tire yourself." Shocked at his response, I asked him: "what did you say?" And with my question, he angrily jumped up to his feet, with the big ratchet he was working with still in his hand, charged towards me (as if he was going to physically attack me) and stopped about 2 feet from me). Then he barked out forcefully what he said a few seconds earlier.... "you can move your f-ing tire yourself!!!" He was challenging me in his "dominant male gorilla way." I know all those intimidation tactics. They're intended to intimidate a potential opponent. With that super aggressive behavior, I turned to go look for his boss, Dave. Luckily, Dave was coming out of the shop towards me. I told him that his rude and aggressive worker was using the F word against me just because I asked him to do what he (Dave) already asked him to do. Dave asked yet another of his workers who was nearby, to assist me. And that young man returned the tire to my wheel well. With that disgusting treatment from Action Al's employees, I beat a hasty retreat from Action Al's . Now I have to go have my mechanic check my tire sensor to see if those x-cons that work there sabotaged it when the disputed started. I've had two previous experiences where bitter, aggressive x-cons working as mechanic's assistant maliciously sabotaged my cars when their boses tried to rip me off and I refused. And Action Al's had possession of my car and tire the entire time. They are all nice, friendly and courteous, until you bring back a defective product (in my case, a tire they sold), for a replacement at their cost? Well, that's when all the their rudeness and nastiness come spewing out. This is my opinion of Action Al's Tires of Washington, DC. Must avoid! read more

Went there to buy a new tire to replace a flat. Got a used one for $30 including labor and was out in 15 minutes on a Friday am. Nick and his staff were courteous and helpful. (Easy to access traveling from either direction on Bladensburg). read more

It might be hard to believe, but I really enjoy going to Action Al's. It could be closer to Upper NW, but that's about it. Al's is very old school. They change the tires out back in the open and you have to walk past their tire installer machines to get to the front desk. Plus I get a kick out of the local DC photos on the wall. I had a flat via nail on one my fancy European tires and they fixed it very quickly and only charged $15. Seemed pretty reasonable. The second time I was there they had to fix a stem, and it was around $15 in total. The owner/manager, not sure which one he is, is friendly and was eager to help me out and give me a quote for four new tires. The price seemed very good, but I haven't verified with TireRack or any other store. Only other issue is that they don't seem to have tire balancing available. read more

This place was recommended to me by Lee's Auto Service on 8th St, NE. Great recommendation! Get customer service and very friendly! I needed me tire repaired - had a nail in the tire. They took care of me in about 30 mins. It was same day service with no appointment. I called ahead and was told to come on in. I did, and they took care of the problem right away. All the employees are very helpful and friendly. Especially Koal :) Thanks again to a great business. Makes me know that there are still businesses out there who know how to treat a customer. Went to Al's yesterday, 12-28-13, and there was only one person in front of me. I am a very impatient person so a place like Al's, without all the mainstream customers (like SEARS or NTB or TIREPLUS or WALMART or COSTCO, etc . ... . ) is just for me. The price was about the same or cheaper than all of the above with all the major brands. One good plus, its a small, family business in the District. The customer service was very nice. Also, As I left, I let them know that I needed to have my cars' alignment worked on. They called a neighboring shop near by and sent me on my way. If you are looking for a place with usb outlets and wi-fi and taxi service to the metro and a plush waiting room with a flat screen and HD TV, this is not the place for you. My car had a flat tire notice for two of the tires. I came to this shop asking the employees to check the tires to see if there was anything wrong with them. The gentlemen checked the tires and then instructed me to come inside. The guy cashing everyone out tells me that my total would be $20 or so. Without notice the shop "repaired" my tire that had a leak. It was unusual to me because they did not inform me of this when they found it nor did they ask for my consent to fix it. When I mentioned this to the cashier he says "well at least it's only $20" at that moment I explain that it's not the cost, rather the principle. He snarks "well I can charge you more if that's what you want" and after swiping my card says "see, it went through." He was completely unprofessional and rude. The other members of the staff were decent but his attitude as a (what I am assuming) manager or stakeholder was despicable. read more

After my dealer would have nothing to do with me, and Bridgestone wouldn't pick up the phone, I called Action Al's to help with a tire that wouldn't keep air in it. The woman who answered the phone was beyond helpful, and when I brought in my car the next morning, they fixed the tire (it had a nail that my dealer missed!), put air in the other four, replaced the missing caps and let me play with their super-friendly dog Koal while I waited. Great service and best prices. Had a flat while visiting DC. Decided to get all new tires. Al's picked up the tires I wanted from their warehouse as they weren't in stock at the garage. When I got there they worked fast and had my car ready to go in about 30 minutes - at the end of their day. The owner's son even filled out my rebate form, and addressed and stamped the envelope while I waited. Had a stripped lug nut but they didn't even try to get me to fix it. I don't know much about tires but after I popped a tire and needed a replacement, I did some shopping around and Action Al offered a great price and immediate assistance. It's a family run operation so I was happy to give them my money and they insisted on hearing what brought me in and how the service was. They were friendly and fast and did what they could to help. Again, I don't know much about tires so I don't know the best deals but they seemed honest and were competitive with the offers I had heard elsewhere. The only thing I didn't like was that the entrance is through the workshop and there isn't really much of a waiting room. read more

I went to this place to get new tires for all four of my wheels on my 2007 Xterra based on the positive reviews on Yelp. The reviews were completely justified. A guy named Gary was very helpful over the phone before I went and his brother Dave took good care of me and other customers. The service guy (forgot his name) did a terrific job showing me the various tire options I had to choose from. I got 4 great new tires for $155 each -- very cheap. Went for 4 new tires for my SUV. Called for quote and got David - helpful and extremely friendly. Spent some time on hold (the phone is constantly ringing in their small shop). Didn't know what tire I wanted, gave him the size and asked for something quality but mid-range; he came up with a solid choice (good Consumer Reports review) at a price lower than anything I saw online (I had called Mac's first, but they only had 1 brand in my size, for $60 each more than Al's, and didn't offer any other choices). I went early (7:30 am) and was out in about an hour as promised. Family-run, no nonsense, and they will rotate your tires and fix any flats for free when you buy from them. read more

I went to Action Al's after reading all the positive reviews on Yelp, and I was not disappointed. The staff helped me promptly and were incredibly friendly and kind. I had been visiting my son at the hospital and the woman waiting on me noticed my hospital visitor's sticker that I had forgotten to take off. She inquired about it and expressed genuine concern about my situation. Just very kind on a day that I really needed it! Besides the great customer service, they quickly found the tire I needed and I was out the door in less than a half hour. I've never had such quick service anywhere. Action Al's Tires offered friendly, efficient service at a competitive price. I shopped around for tires for my Volvo. (I called Sears, NTB, and Merchant Tire.) Al's had the best price and by far the friendliest service. They ordered the tires and called to let me know they had arrived that very same day! I brought my car in the morning and was in and out with 4 new tires in less than an hour. The shop even called me after I left to let me know that I had left my coffee travel mug behind. ones they sold tire, u done. they sold me deffected tire and didnt even balance all my tires,if u have fancy car do not go there. ur car will be scarched and rims scrached too.employees have no respect to ur car.Dave is good but he didnt helped me my 2 cars. never go there again. read more
